Is it just me or has anyone else noticed the bad trend of horror movies that have more fucking continuations than EVER needed? Who the hell wants to see some psychotic, retarded kid in a hockey mask thirteen times in a goddamn row?! I know that I had enough of Jason half way through the third movie. Alright we get it! You're some big pissed off fugly bastard dinning on that dish best served cold (a.k.a. revenge). For Christ's sake, you get one hit in the box office and then you decide to make twelve other continuations of an undoubtably lesser quality? Stop it already. Although the Freddy Kruger flicks were a bit more bareable, I once again had had enough of my favorite villian after the fifth movie. Why don't we give Freddy a brake already? The poor bastard was burnt to death and then had to kill the same stupid teen fucks 5+ times in a row. I think that's hell enough already. My least favorite of these movies has to be the Halloween series though. The first one sucked and so did the next six or how many other times they continued that piece of garbage!

NOTE : When I say the first Halloween, I mean the original. Not the remake created by the man of horror himself; Rob Zombie.

First off, STOP IT WITH THE FUCKING NAKED CHICKS!!! If I wanted to be entertained via some chick taking a shower I wouldn't have paid ten-bucks for a fucking movie ticket just to see her get decapitated right when she was about to climax. A bit of a mood killer don't you think?...No pun intended. But seriously, what the hell would possess a girl to undress in the middle of an abandoned house?

But naked women aren't the only thing that make horror movies today pricey snuff films. There's also a bad slew of sex scenes. My God, I half expected Jason to whip it out and join in on three occasions while watching Freddy vs. Jason! And what the fuck was with Freddy trying to reach up that girl's nightie? These villians really need to watch some porn and work it off before going on the job.

Another bad horror movie trend is the excessive use of what I like to call "creepy music". Have the directors ever heard of the expression "silence is golden"? Well, it would definitely make my movie-going experience a hell of a lot better! Of course, I don't disagree with such scores in horror movies altogether. I'm simply saying that there's a proper time to use them. Some of the most terrifying moments in horror cinema for me have been when most of the movie is silent and then without any hint of it coming, something pops out. Most people really don't understand the beauty of the element of surprise. It can be the difference between a smash hit and a sinker.

As for these new gore flicks that have recently come out; some are good, some are not so good. For example, Saw is not only a psychologically enticing thriller; It has amazing gore scenes as well. Granted, I'm a bit disappointed that they are taking on the all too familiar trend of too many sequels. But other than that, Saw has been a very pleasant experience. But movies such as Hostile just have TOO much gore. What's so scary about someone getting their bouls removed alive if you've seen the same degree of gore for the last half-hour? There is one man of horror that I appreciate over most though: Rob Zombie. That man makes me wanna puke and fuck him senseless at the same time! He is a God! Ghost Ship, Devil's Rejects, House of 1000 Corpses. They're all fucking amazing. One movie that I feel has been under-rated for far too long though is called Strangeland. Dee Snider from Twisted Sister stars as this psychotic, bodyily altered (a.k.a. lots of piercings and tattoos), mad-man who lures teens to his home through the internet. He then shackles them and puts them through primative rituals for their "right of passage". IT IS AWESOME!!! Dee Snider is amazingly grotesque and smoltering at the same time. Again, I'd fuck him xD

STOP IT WITH THE FUCKING PSYCHO DOLLS!!!

NO MORE REMAKES IF THEY COME OUT SHITTY!!!

STOP TRYING TO COVER UP BAD ACTING WITH MAJOR GORE!!! Cast your fucking characters better!

That's all I've really got to say about this topic. I want to apologize for the language, but once I get heated I feel the need to express myself even through vulgarity.

haha, thats one of those things I read and nod my head the whole time through. I love a good zombie movie, but those slasher flicks are just the same stupid garbage over and over.
No offence to those who like them. I just don't really get it, I mean sure, lots of zombie movies don't have much of a plot, but generaly slasher flicks have no plot at all, I mean, Like she said, how many times can a guy kill a group of teenagers before it just gets old. On the zombie movie thing, I love zombie movies, 28 days later resident evil ( 1 and 2, I have yet to see extinction) and so many more. I'm not to big of a fan of dawn of the dead though, just didn't really tickel my fancy.
I really don't get the sex cliche, its like, I went to a horror movie to see umm... sex.
no wait!
wrong answer.
I came for horror.
perhaps some gore? Or sycholigical thriller?
If I just wanted half ass ( no pun intended) snuff tapes, I would go to my uncles house.
really.
this doesn't make the movies box office higher, so whats the point?

Well, I personally like those cheesy slasher fics. I basically grew up on them! XD I remembered loving to snuggle in on a dark, stormy night and turn all the lights off and pop in a good "Nightmare on Elm Street" or "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" to watch all the stupid little teens get hacked into bits. There's just something very...soothing about watching something like that. I'm a wierd individual, so you gotta take whatever I say with a grain of salt! XD

A trend I am not very fond of in horror movies are the "Torture" movies such as "Saw" and "Turistas," "Hostel," and other garbage such as that. Torture movies aren't scary, they're just disgusting! They're just another good reason to throw some blood and guts onto the screen, but they prolong the agony by torturing the people and I can't find that more disgusting.

I will, however, agree with you on the naked chicks part. The nakedness and the intercourse have no relevance in the movie. It's just thrown in there to appeal to testosterone fueled teen males and to get the money outta them. I don't see the point in having the naked, busty girls running around! It's stupid!

'Torture porn' films are nothing new actually. There were a handful of them floating around back in the 1970s, though back then they never would've received the R rating they receive today. A nice example of a film that basically has everything a fan of this genre would want is 'I Spit On Your Grave' (I'm not going to use the horrible 90s re-release title). Anyways the film has a handful of nudity shots that are mixed heavily with extreme gore. Not to mention there is one particular scene which regardless of who you are will deeply disturb you in a way you will never forget. I think the scene is probably way too graphic to discuss here, but if you want to know more I suggest you Google it or watch it.

I'm note a fan of torture porn films, but I can watch them without being disturbed by any of the nudity in the films. If you watched any basic slashes film from the 80s there were several scenes which you could easily see what's going on (though sometimes not some stuff), and then BOOM! The girl or guy has their head hacked off while they're at it and then the other one screams.

Moving onto what you call 'creepy music'. I personally think that the soundtrack (instrumental, please) is what helps carry certain scenes of a movie. Say for example you're watching a movie you're really into but there's this one scene that is soooo boring and you feel like you're going to fall asleep or you just want to skip it. The music helps the scene go on, becomes most horror films need those boring scenes to help progress with the plot.
And with the 'creepy music' when there's a killer, etc. coming after someone, those are the same as I mentioned just above. If you're watching a killer or whatever chasing someone or trying to attack them without the music, you will actually be less likely to be entertained because you're watching a man (just an example) chasing some girl down a road with a hatchet (fake example) and then the girl turns around and the man is nowhere to be seen. The girl stops and turns the other way and nope he's still not there. A scene like this is where the music would calm, but the the girl starts to slowly walk/run the way she was originally going and then the music paces with the girl as she moves, getting progressively louder (or faster, whichever) as the man gets closer/approaches to her. And then right when the man jumps ontop of her there's a sudden stop in the music and then all of the sudden it blares loudly within that one second and then keeps going on the rapid pace while the man kills the girl. (this is just an example, remember).

So a horror film, or any film would be very boring without music, even if it is cheesy sometimes.

And I'm more into the less gorey, more jump-out-scary horror films that tend to carry the PG13 rating (where they would've been R back in the 80s). I do however watch a handful of R-rated horror films. Basically I'll watch any horror film regardless of it I'm interested in it or not.

The horror genre seems to be slowly nearing death lately as there has been a string of bombs this year. The only horror film to go way above expectations was Rob Zombie's remake of "Halloween", which I felt was good, but not as good as the original. But that's another story, hehe.

Well, I've never been into slasher films or those big horror movies of the '80's to begin with. I prefer more cerebral horror or downright disgusting gore and those movies (and all their remakes, sequels and who-knows-what) don't supply that.

Horror movies are always targeted at the teenagers of a society. So people who've been watching them for a longer time than that are bound to find repeats and a certain shaping of patterns to occur. Halloween is old for us, but fresh for the new generation watching horror. Stuff like Hostel is inventive, but pales compared to, for example, Cannibal Holocaust. Yet most kids who watch horror now have never even heard of that movie.

It happens. It's a continuing cycle and now that horror has also become more mainstream there's even more crap to sift through to find the hidden gems.
