This is an OOC thread, private thread to discuss ideas for the roleplay "of gears and treacle" in which treacle is harmed, possibly, most likely, gears and mechanicals are incorporated and two individuals get up to much mischief and adventure.

So what type of pairing do you usually like to play with? MXM or MXF? Also what races do we want to play with? Are we setting it in the soulless university or one like it?

- pairings I prefer either MxM or Mxf or if you like (not sure if this would get too complicated) but we could one of each pairing. for now I'm leaning toward MXF (though inner writer is screaming for a mm, maybe later on though)

- races, I'd like to go with the usual :Preternatural, vampire, werewolf. Along with their servants. Perhaps introduce some new races outside of Europe that come into London, such as halfbreed (if Prue can be a half why not some other chars, though limit it to two half breeds because of their rarity)
- I'd like to keep it in the soulless universe. are we going to use original soulless or something like the prequel with the girls "finishing" school?
also are we going to be incorporating original characters such as Lord Akeldama and his lot? That could make for much fun.

If we are keeping to the soulless univers then we could only have halfs like Prue, meaning that there was another female soulless out there.
but what we could add is other shifters like cyotye, tangu and kitsune. Since she never did cover those areas.

we could work with that. Shifters that for their own reasons are in London. Are we going to do pre-Prue or post-Prue, meaning before she's born or after? and if after how long after?

It took place in the Victorian era (1837-1901)

But do you recall when? Had the electric light? I would look this up on my own but dont have the books.

I'd have to read over it again to get the exact dates for the books. Also I'd like try my character as a Lady that cross dresses half the time. (for her own reasons)

I believe they had some eletric but bare min. I don't have the books on hand so I'll have to do some digging.

Meaning about mid victorian I think. We could go late victorian.

So some more use of electricity (but not much), more common use of dirigible, carts and the like?

we are going to be having a winter event but the events here are not like they are in Gaia. they just create a new forum for the event and each time you post you get event money as well as regular money. this can be spent at the event store to get the items if it is open. it cuts down on the cost of things during the event.

by the way I recalled that in Soulless they had Aether stuff and that was taking up some of what electricity did in our Victorian age. so our game would have less electricity then what was common in our day and age but more Aether items.

That sounds pretty awesome with the event money. It looks like you have to join a team for this one.
As for our game having more Aether items, I'm cool with that. It's interesting that for steampunk the universe has this small bit of mysticism. So, shall we start or did I forget anything?

Merry winter solstice to you too. Do we want to set our story before the Great war or during? I was thinking of having my guy be a shifter, who is half English half Asian.

just woke up, remind me what the Great war is again? I was thinking my girl could be an graduated intelligencer, but not sure if that would be going over or not. If not it's okay. She'll be Irish, I'm thinking fae/partial fae or is that too much?

The great war was what world war one was called up untill world war two.

No but I was hoping to use the undiscovered aspect to help explain her existence. Also, she didn't touch on Ireland either, so I thought I could use that as a place of origin for my character.

A preternaturally beautiful people that like the vampires are cultured, can move about and are (as of yet unexplained) able to manipulate the Aether in the air to hide in plain sight or appear as individuals other than themselves. Highly allergic to iron they avoid all contact with it. They adore cream, sugary tea and sweets in general. Are attracted to things they deem attractive or pretty. Are capable of lying but can't outright lie if asked specific questions. Come off as social bubbly beings but are quite intelligent. Have short tempers and can be easily offended. That about sum it up?

well both the vampires, ghosts and shifters have an excess of soul. from what I have read so far there is nothing in the world other then those that have excess or soul, normal amount or no soul (eg. Soulless)
