Fair enough haha. Recently I've been rewatching Daria, and it's still so good??? I also went and saw Spiderverse with my boyfriend on Christmas eve and it was AMAZING.

Daria is such a classic I love it.

Oh! Spiderverse is a new animated Spiderman movie, and it's honestly brilliant. Like, the animation is very unique and incredible and there are so many Easter eggs from the comics and I'm just aaaaaaaaaaa!!! And yeah that's fine to ask haha. Technically me and him have been dating since... July? I think it was July? But we've known each other since year 8. We're taking it very slow and he's a sweetheart. He's just finished his second year of a computer science degree at the same uni as me. We're both each other's first partner

Yeah, we've had some weird conversations about statistics and the like haha. And yes, he's very smart. He's a wizard at maths, and he's also a musician! He plays drums in a band and is a member of the worship team at his church.
If it's not too invasive to ask, how's your life going? Is there a Mr Linnea?

a musician? the drummers are always the coolest he definitely sounds like an all around swell dude!

and no, it's definitely not too invasive to ask, especially not from you my life is going alright, there is no mr. linnea though, and nothing serious in a long time. but i am a firm believer in the whole being ok enough with myself that i don't need another person to make me happy or fulfilled (which i feel like a lot of people definitely don’t feel that way).
i was really invested in school and working full time at the same time for two and a half years, so i just really worked on me and things i wanted to do.
did some traveling though, i went to puerto rico last july to help rebuild/fix houses for families who live there as most homes were ruined in the hurricanes that came 2 septembers ago, (i think i read it was the 2nd longest black out in history?, most places still didn't have power, some still didn't even have roofs!) it was a friends mission group through her parents church and i tagged along. the year before that i went to aruba which was more of a relaxed trip and had a blast with some of my family. i plan to do more, but now my college loans have kicked in and i'm going to need to budget a lot better now boooo i was thinking of iceland next. i'd love to see those northern lights in their full glory.

That's great to hear! And yeah, it's important to be okay with being single and to love yourself. I'm glad you're doing okay!

That's amazing to hear everything that you've been doing; you're doing some truly wonderful stuff out there in the real world. I've also been meaning to do some volunteering for a while now, but I need to get off my butt. Iceland sounds gorgeous! I recently went to NZ (opposite side of the world, I know) and I got to see some beautiful landscapes and fjords and it was 100% worth it.

I’d love to do more volunteering for sure, but volunteering is expensive lol I’m sure you’ll get out there and do something great too. NZ looks so gorgeous, I’d love to go there too but it is literally on the other side of the world lol maybe some day!

Oh and thank you :)

Hiya everybody! And like Linn, I have no Mr. Facade. I love flirting and being a tease, but boys are so lame the older they get! Ain’t nobody got time for that. Getting a good one is a needle in a haystack.

Zea, come by mooore! Sounds like you’re having a blast - one more year left in uni, then?

I’m starting a grad program in a year and already dreading it. I like sleep too much, these days. And once summertime hits I won’t want to be in the house!

yea it's hard finding a good one, i agree, but then i'm not really looking sooo i probably wouldn't even know if i did come across one hahaha my mom says i'm "too picky" which really pisses me off. why would i settle for just some rando when i don't really need anyone to begin with. i can fix my own shit, i can open my own jars of pickles, i can change my own flat tire. what a headache!

congrats on the grad program, facadeyface! look at you also growing up, my sweet little bottle of organic vodka!

LOL! Linn, how’d you know I bought a bottle of vodka tonight!? Literally less than 10mins ago! Not organic, but I’ll settle. I agreee that just settling for a man when you’re independent and there ain’t no born or unborn child in the mix is bullshit. Who needs a man, huh??? You’re allowed to have standards and preferences, and being “too picky” is a GOOD THING / also a bullshit thing to say! Why rush into something just because you’re lonely or bored, ya know? That’s what porn (erm... I meant romance movies ) is for.

Facade!! Long time no see!! And yeah, 2019 will be the last year of my undergrad, though if things go according to plan I'll be at uni for a long time after that because my end goal is clinical psych. What are you studying? That's so exciting that you're starting a grad program!

(also I'm probably not going to be on much today as the bf is coming over in 30 mins and we're spending the rest of the day together)

Have fun with the beau, Zea!

I’ve been a web developer and designer for the past 4.5yrs since graduating undergrad myself. I’ve mostly worked for universities/international orgs since. Now I’m at a university again, and can get a masters for free — I’m debating between a few programs still, so either a degree in health and social innovation (which I have some experience in, and know the program director because she’s a colleague of mine, and I really like her and her perspective — she’s the sole person who proposed the curriculum and then launched the degree program; her background is similar to mine but she has a doctorate in my field), orrr a master of fine arts in integrated design (so both physical as well as digital), which would be a terminal degree and let me possibly go straight into academia at least part-time if not fully.

I’m sooo indecisive and love learning - always reading and teaching myself - so I’m still unsure. I’m also considering a law degree in cybersecurity. I DUNNO WHAT TO DOOO.

My real goal is to be a kept hubby and have a man fund my life. That way I can be a novelist and never have to worry about bulls.

That choice is the most difficult to plan for, however.

Well I wish I could say I was clairvoyant or some shit but alas, I was recalling a night from our shared past which you may have forgotten lol I’ll let you work that one out >.>

I agree that what my mum said is a bull shit thing to say. I think mothers she be raising more independent women so that they can be self reliant and strong by themselves. Makes the self worth so much more, ya know. Women have it hard enough as it is being the “lesser sex”. Another term that’s bull shit but you get my point. Regardless, i’m never that bored!

You e been busy too! It’s amazing that you’re so passionate about lots of different things and super exciting that you won’t have to pay! I am going to be in debt until I’m in the grave I fear haha but I know you’ll pick something great and be great at it.

And now no more of this mushy stuff

Ow, why’d ya have to feesh me Linn!? I THOUGHT WHAT WE HAD WAS REAL.

Believe me, I was gouged as it is for my undergrad degree. I couldn’t do a master’s for any price above free 99! It’s gonna take me twice as long to finish the degree this way, but hey! What’s the rush, anyway?

P.S. Linn, I’ll always cherish those moments we spent with vodka. And I’m sure you’ll live the rest of your days scarred forevermore by the sight of my bare bum while I was headfirst in the porcelain throne!

I do love vodka. It’s the most versatile and least fussy booze. I like a good whiskey but I’m too poor for quality, and the really cheap stuff gives me such bad hangovers.

oh it is real, my little head of cabbage. i only bag on the ones i like the most! just ask carn! and i didn't see your bum! you had the floor mat over you when i got there

it would be awesome to have a reunion of sorts; a themed party at woodsters, oh the memories! but boozewise, i drank a lot of LTD (which is canadian whiskey and it's.... an acquired taste lol) with sprite because that's what we poor bastards could afford in high school and our friend could grow a ginger beard like tormund giantsbane (a GoT reference in case you don't watch) at 19 so he wouldn't get carded! but i always prefer rum now and that's not so bad price wise. i have found an awesome way to drink cheap ass beer (*cough*PBR*cough*) now though, add a little OJ. it's crazy, it's called a brass monkey, and it's delicious.

and i'd have take it super slow if i had the opportunity for school on someone else's dime. and my experience was totally online for the first time ever so it took some time to get acclimated and i had to independently budget out my time better than i was used to doing because i didn't have anyone but myself to hold me accountable. It took me 2.5 years and i went straight through so no breaks, no electives, just core stuff, and then there was a giant comprehensive "exam" at the end (i chose that instead of a more commonly taken thesis because it was a two course class and i didn't want to pay for it) It was a riskier choice, because instead of one paper and a presentation (the thesis route), i had to write three papers, 1 due every 2 weeks that essentially equals out to be the same as a thesis just on speed. it was pass/fail and you had your prof grading, and two blind readers. two out of the three had to pass you to move on. thankfully they all passed me on every paper so i made it , but i was nervous. i couldn't have done it any other way though because i work full time, and then racing in the summer and coaching softball in the spring, hockey in the winter; i wanted to have some semblance of a life still. there are pros and cons to both online and in class sorts of schooling.

I love hard cider. Nice dry or hoppy hard cider. Most american ones are too sweet. That and my old man drink of choice is a gin and tonic. Mmmm
