"Talk about the wolf goddess!" Snowflake said.

Wolf Goddess. Luna thought for a moment, she had heard of this story before. So she began..

" Once upon a time, there lived a wolf, far more beautiful and powerful than any other wolf alive. It was said she had fir as white as the snow freshly fallen and a black mark on her forehead. She lived in secret from the other wolves watching over them and bringing what the clan needed most if they pleased her. Some called her a gypsy, others a outcast from another clan. Sooner or later, they all called her goddess. She brought fresh meat to the clans starving and made rivers flow toward the clans dying of thirst.

And so the wolf clans lived in harmony for centuries.

But one day, a clan that had not received a present for a long time envied another clan who had just received a gift. The truth was, the goddess had not though the clan needy so she overlooked them. Thinking they had lost her favour, the clan sought war against the other clan hoping to win her back and show which clan was indeed the stronger one. Despite all of the gifts, the Needy clan was defeated.

The other wolves, happy with their success, went into the forest to greet the Goddess. Instead of her congratulating them and rewarding them, she summoned a flash of lightning that killed all of the clan. Seeing what she had done and how many lives were lost because of her, the Goddess vanished into the forest never to be seen again.

It is prophesied that she will appear again once all the wolves will learn to take her place in giving to those needy of help. She is still watching over the other wolves from the sky."

Finishing her story, Luna glanced at them all. Hoping she had captured their intrest.

"Will the wolf goddess come back soon?" Snowflake asked.

" I don't know,” Luna replied, " But I hope she comes soon."

She stared off into the distance for a while before looking back at the pups, " You know, what our clan really needs is a god or goddess to give us gifts. Who would like to come a prepare some medicine for the warriors when they come back?" Luna beckoned for the pups to follow her. This was the first time she was acting like a leader and it was quite nerve wracking.

Snowflake was happy to participate. She ran around gathering up all the leaves and herbs that she could.

Luna was pleased at all of the energy the pups had to give. They laughed and talked while gathering and preparing medicine. It was quite pleasing to watch, but something was still nagging at the back of her mind. The enemy had managed to get past the protective forces of the Oasis. Sooner or later they will find a way in a crash everything they have been fighting for.

She must have blanked out for a while because a pup with a light brown coat was staring up at her. " Um excuse me M'am but Rikki over there poked himself with a stick and might be hurt." Smiling down at the pup she walked with her to Rikki. He was almost as big as her. Probably about 4 months of age as male wolves were bigger than female wolves. " Well why don
t we just clan up the wound and you can rest over there for a while, watch the leaves for us please." she said to him rubbing his wound with water.

Snowflake watched over the herbs. She ate one and it tasted nasty.

Tohrul watched as Luna disappeared, to find Snowflake and get her to safety. He breathed a sigh of relief. No one to protect, so he could go all out and wouldn't have to worry.
"Thanks Luna..." he whispered under his breath, while the two wolves went in for the attack, trying to roll him over on his back, but he kept a strong stance, and avoided their attacks. He attempted a leap at the one in the back, almost slipping between the two wolves defense, but they were prepared, and while one lunged at his throat, the other rammed into his side.
Tohrul could feel a sinking feeling in his gut when he fell to the forest floor, with one wolf standing over him, a demented grin on his face, and his eyes flashing with a cold-blooded satisfaction. As the one wolf moved in for the kill, Tohrul made a quick move, and thrust his forelegs into the other's chest, keeping him at bay while he snapped in anger. Scrambling underneath his enemy, Tohrul got his hind legs a hold on his attacker's legs, and pushed, sending the older wolf falling to his side. Swiftly standing up and backing off a bit, the youngster told himself why he had just gotten into such a fix.
"You went in too quickly. Find out their weaknesses, and then move in for the crushing blow..." he mumbled to himself, but Tohrul knew that it wasn't likely, even if he found out their weak points, that he would win this fight. So much energy was already drained from him, and his muscles screamed for a break. Also, the other wolves were so much more experienced than he, and stronger. He had a weight in his torso, a feeling that his enemies knew he was getting weakened, and that they're were just playing with him.
Hoping with all his will that Luna had warned his pack, Tohrul avoided an nip to the shoulder from one of the wolves, while the other bit at his ankle. Even the third joined in, easily avoiding Tohrul's attacks, which became slower and more clumsy as his strength was drained from his body. After a few minutes, they had Tohrul cornered against a large oak tree, it's leaves falling to the ground in early Autumn. Leaning against the bark of the giant oak, Tohrul let out a tired sigh, his flanks rising and falling with every effort he made on breathing, and blood covering his fur from the gashes the enemies had inflicted on him.
The leader of the troupe, the third wolf who had always observed Tohrul's movements, stalked towards him, teeth bared, a wicked grin plastered on his face. Tohrul allowed a growl to grow in his chest, his hair rising along his spine, and his lips pulling back to match his enemy's grin.
"Still has some fight in you, eh'?" the leader questioned, his voice sending chills through Tohrul's spine, yet he didn't let it faze him. In answer, he let out a snarl. A chuckle came from the alpha wolf of the troupe, and he took another step towards his prey. Then, though, there was a cry from the forest, a command, and Tohrul could hear paws pounding against the floor, and he could glimpse pelts flashing through the trees, and he felt a feeling of comfort spread across his body. The two subordinate wolves were frozen with terror, but Tohrul's main rival, the leader, had a look of resilience on his face, and he leaped towards Tohrul, collapsing on him, and fixing his teeth around his throat, and the exhausted wolf was unable to throw him off in his weakened state. Sharp teeth began to pierce into neck, closing around his trachea, chocking him.

Luna gazed at Snowflake Disapprovingly. " Don't eat them now, they'll taste disgusting. You need to mix them with Oak bark."

Speaking of that, the only Oak trees in the Oasis were in the forest, a ring of them deep within the forest. Where the battle was. She knew someone had to get them if they wanted to have enough medicine to cure the fighters.

" Urrm you there." Luna sad talking to a greyish brown wolf beside her, " You make sure everything is ok here while I go get something we need." She trusted Snowflake more but he was bigger, probably even bigger than her.

Turning away from the pups, she walked slowly into the forest. At the brink of the tree line, Luna stared into the shadows and stepped in to the gloom. Cries of the battle could still be heard from here. Walking deeper and deeper into the trees, Luna started to shake. This was the closest she had ever been to a war. It was quite depressing. Trying hard to slip past the wolves further away from the battle nearer to her, Luna ran as fast as she could, she could see the Oak trees now.

Eclipse moved along, over the length of the forest. His nose to the ground, then to the air. He smelled them near, another clan. A wolfish grin spread across his jowels. He perked his ears up and listened silently to the surroundings. He stayed completely still. Every musscle tensed under his marbled coat. He finally padded up a rock and sits. He could see them in the distance and tilts his head. Without a word he jumps down and approaches.

Luna walked out of the forest, a bunch of oak bark in her mouth. Deep in thought, " What was going on in the war? Was anybody hurt?"

All of this thinking made her not pay attention to where she was walking and bumped into a strange wolf.

He had whitish grey fur and such dark eyes.

" Umm... Sorry I didn't mean to so that"

Eclipse looks over having been bumpped into. He eyed the female wolf a bit. "Hello" he says and lightly sniffs her. He walks around her and tilts his head a bit.

Snowflake watched over the herbs, but that was boring. She knew she could help more. Snowflake walked into the woods.

Paddy was busily digging a hole in the snow.
Whisper watched her brother, her head cocked to one side.
"Paddy what are you doing?"
Paddy lifted his head shaking snow off his nose and looked at his sister.
"I'm gonna dig a gigantic hole" he said proudly, then continued his efforts.
Whisper wrinkled her nose at him. "Why?" she said eventually.
Paddy sat for a minute thinking, then thunped his short tail once. "Why not?"
Whisper sighed at her brother, then looked round.
She saw a white pup walking off into the forest. Jumping up in alarm she nipped her brother lightly.
"Paddy there's someone going into the forest!"
He looked at his sister with interest. "Really?"
"Yes! We should tell Luna!"
Paddy grinned and did an excited little jump.
"No lets go ourselves. Come on!"
He raced off not even looking to see if she followed.
Whisper growled quietly to herself. This was stupid, they should find Luna and tell her.
She looked around but there were only the other pups here.
Sighing to herself she ran after her brother. "Wait for me!"

Snowflake heard someone shout "Wait for me!" And turned around. She saw two other pups. "Who are you?" She asked.

Paddy skidded to a halt, spraying snow everywhere, then tumbled head over heels finally coming to rest on his back.
He struggled up only to bump into Whisper, they both fell over Paddy giggling to himself.
At the pups question he looked at her.
Curiously he walked all round the younger one, sniffing her all over, tail wagging furiously.
Whisper sighed. "I'm Whisper" she replied, then looked at her brother. "And he is Paddy, what's your name?"

"I'm Snowflake" She looked over at Paddy. "You're silly!"

Whisper laughed so hard at what Snowflake had said she rolled over onto her back, legs kicking the air.
Paddy looked at his sister with a hurt look on his face.
She just laughed harder. "Oh Paddy", she said "you are silly though".
His tongue lolled out and Paddy began to laugh too.
"I guess I am kinda" he admitted.
When Whisper's giggles subsided she stood back up, shaking her coat to get rid of the snow.
"We should probably go back to the others."
Paddy sniffed "No way! Lets have a look around first."
"No Paddy, we'll get in trouble!"
He ignored his sister and spoke to Snowflake. "Want to come explore with us?"

"You bet!" Snowflake ran around Paddy, then into the woods.

With an excited bark Paddy scrambled after Snowflake.
Whisper dithered for a moment looking at the menacing tree line, then back towards the safety of the caves.
Finally she ran after them calling for them to slow down. We are gonna be in so much trouble, she thought to herself.

Snowflake hid behind a tree. She waited for Paddy to pass, then jumped on him.

Luna looked at the wolf, she was sure she had seen her before, but couldn't put a name to him. " Sorry but who are you again?" she asked. She wasn't sure whether to trust him or not, after all the forest they were on the side of was currently hosting a war. She backed away from him a bit. He was giving her the shivers.

Paddy yelped when something jumped him from behind a tree, but that soon changed to a playful bark when he saw it was only Snowflake. Joyfully he began to chase her round the tree, every few steps he would fall over usually face first.
Whisper caught the two of them up not long after and, deciding she might as well have some fun too, proceeded to try catching Paddy's tail in her mouth.

Snowflake ran up and nipped Whisper's tail.

Whisper jumped, turning in midair so she was nose to nose with Snowflake when she landed.
With a playful growl, Whisper leapt onto Snowflake rolling the both of them over in the snow.
Barely able to contain his own excitement, Paddy pounced on the other two.
