Kaide Moore Sifted through the forest silently, his partner at his side. It has been at least one full week since the competition began. It started out with combat practice, than they ran your through a series of psychological tests to see what things were your weaknesses, and than they have the elimination round. That round was all about narrowing the 90,000 contestants to a smaller number. Plus, many enemies were in the same space together. Now there were only a hundred left.
Each one was required to have a partner. If your partners left, died, or got killed, you had five days to find a new one. Or you were disqualified from the competition and merely free game for any of your enemies nearby. It was something of a survival of the fittest kind of thing. And in the end, you only found some sort of important artifact that you had to give to someone else.
Breaking off from his thoughts, Kaide and his partner, Melanie, stopped abruptly when they heard a snapping of twigs not far from them. they stood still, waiting to see what would happen. It was about three minutes before they realized they'd walked right into a trap, set by the one other team in the area. And as soon as either of them stepped off... Well, it was an only-one-survives kind of trap.
Looking at Melanie, she growled low under her breath and readied her bow and arrows, looking around for that one splotch of red that would indicate a living being around, and when she saw it she loaded her arrow onto the bow and fired, taking out what sounded like a female gasping in pain before there was a 'thump'.
Nodding Melanie than waited until Kaide was distracted, trying to find the other the girl was partnered up with, and Melanie pushed him off and a cage fell down with a wooden stake in the center, pinning her down and than staking her to the ground.
