Neil DeGrasse Tyson is hosting in place of the late great Carl Sagan in this remake/sequel.
Come be a science geek with me and explore the universe and our minds as we learn new things. Share the wonderment and any neat things you pick up along the way.

And for those of you who want to join in on the journey, come with us.

Science predicts that is the best way to get to space!

That's neat that we can watch the episodes from the website! I don't have regular tee-vee at my place so this is lovely. :)

Yeeeaaaah! I was wondering if there was going to be thread on this. Thought the first episode was great. And so far I haven't heard an ignorant hate over "science agenda" or some such. Only love!

There's a "geographic restriction" in place on the official website but I will find a way. Science knows no boundaries!

So I can't watch this with the people I live with.
Phrases said during the show:
"This is very anti-religion." "They're brainwashing viewers into thinking we came from filthy monkeys!"

Personally I was very pleased to see that they reused the evolution animation from the Sagan Cosmos at the end of the second episode. :3

I caught the tail end of this today and while it was just wrapping up the episode (talking about the calendar of the universe)... I thought it was very nice.

And... I suppose if you've got a strong opinion that doesn't agree with the theory being presented people would get a bit grumbly about the show on air-- heaven knows I'm like that with anything on Atlantis or conspiracy theories-- but saying it's brainwashing is a bit much... it isn't as if there aren't shows which cover the other side of that coin.

I was walking through the indoor shopping centre where I live today and there was an advert up for Cosmos (it's being shown on National Geographic here).

I am so excited for this! I haven't seen the first episode yet because I got very confused about its airing schedule. I tried to watch last weekend with the boyf, but we couldn't find any episodes so we thought it hadn't aired yet. But I guess it has? Confusion. Well, we'll watch this weekend.

Yes! It's quite exciting. I've been waiting for a new science show and Neil taking on Karl's is lovely- we've learned so much since the last COSMOS~

I just saw the episode with the cartoon on Bruno... I can see how that can be taken as church bashing by some people (especially if they are a bit defensive about such things) but the writers did stress that it was 'in his world' and not 'this is what the church always does now and forever'. I've seen a lot worse church bashing or strawman arguments by other programs.
