Reciting to the Stars Username: eastriel Entry: I wanted to find an ancient egptian poem, and I came across 'The Eloquent peasant' written in 1900bc, it is in fragments due to being so old, and it reminded me of fluxus word poetry, which is a modern at interpretation on the poem, I thought this old and new fusion would be perfect for the party!
here is my favourite fluxus poem by yoko ono:
How doth the little crocodile
Improve his shining tail,
And pour the waters of the Nile
On every golden scale!
How cheerfully he seems to grin,
How neatly spreads his claws,
And welcomes little fishes in,
With gently smiling jaws!
Reciting to the Stars Username: ghostPastry Entry: The Promise of Spring
a november leaf,
you turn it over anew.
lying in wait,
you murmur and coo.
dead grass beneath,
it’s just outside of your reach.
the sky fogs over,
dusting the earth and the air between.
you don a new coat,
soft, white, and pristine.
the cold becomes your lover
as the sun hides under cover.
your hands are shivering
like sapling branches in the wind.
flakes of snow grace your knuckles,
not meaning to offend.
no leaves left to fall
for bitter cold has taken them all.
the snow promises to melt
this season will pass
you think, you pray, you hope
before you break,
a frozen lake like glass,
your thoughts may bloom,
an escape from this endless gloom.
but a blue sky hides
above a sheet of grey.
you long to shake off your winter coat
day after shorter day.
your patience is ebbing
as gossamer snow becomes your bedding.
a season of dormancy,
you can almost taste the new beginning.
spring on the tip of your tongue
as the earth keeps on spinning.
dead grass beneath,
it’s just outside of your reach.
Proof: Ok, I'm really nervous about sharing this, because it's my own personal poetry, so please be gentle ;-; (also it's the wrong season because I wrote this a while ago, i hope that's ok...)
It's poetry. i didn't say it had to be to a certain season. thank you for entering something you yourself have written, its always nice to see new poetry :]
