Has anyone ever used the avatar system to design one that looks like them? Just saying it's pretty fun.

Tbh at this point I'm too lazy to try to figure out the dumb hair color stuff, so at the very least, the hair and glasses (and skintone) of my avis are based on me irl.
I do have I think one or two outfits for my me avis too.

The hair isn't too bad. In order to take a Mene selfie for my twitter account I saved the color codes I currently use for this green in a post-it app. It was hard choosing clothes I actually wear from my inventory. As much as I love knee-high leg warmers, I'm really not confident enough to wear them. Frankly I could make myself a pair with the amount of yarn I own.

I was inspired to put glasses on this avatar though! I was saying in another thread my fancy pair make me feel pretty.

Some hair colors I can manage to get absolutely perfect, but I struggle getting good dark browns that look right to me. Even this one is actually too light. My rl hair is kind of a weird shade in between dark brown and black.

Do it! Make the legwarmers, fellow yarnaholic! Be bold and brave!
I used to love the idea of legwarmers so I'd always buy them then never wear them. I'm more of an armwarmers person. I know we don't have anything like my fave pair (because they are knitted scalemaille armor basically), but are there armwarmers/fingerless gloves on Mene? I forget...

I believe there are some fingerless gloves. I forget which store they're in.

Knitting might be my challenge this week! Since I can't focus on the books I need to read... I still need to finish art for Winter Festival threads I plan to host AND I'm going to try and cook a turkey feast like a crazy person, for no real reason other than proving to myself that I can. Plus, I'll have the added bonus of having my own Thanksgiving leftovers.

After woking OT on Thanksgiving I might burn out, but the Black Friday paycheck will be worth it.

Yeah....I just checked the other day. We have some, but most are either too frilly, too short, or too long. The rest are the wrong color. Lol

Do it! Knit something pretty!
My challenge this week will have to be doing some loom knitting as well. I have a custom order cat that I really need to finish up soon, but the yarn the person wanted me to use is such a pain to work with that I keep procrastinating...

Wait, do you mean you are using a loom to make a cat?? I must see the product of this technique. My looms are usually just used to make scarves and hats. I'm not very creative.

I do a lot of stuffed animals. I started with dragons, then foxes and sharks and have recently tried frogs and cats. The patterns are all by a super talented person called Scarlett Royal, who has a pattern book for stuffed animals, which is where I get all the patterns for them (though I kind of modified the cat because I didn't like her pattern much).

Here is a link (hopefully) to the first cat I made: https://postimg.cc/t7HKPsM7

It could use a little modification, mainly the arms and tail are a bit thin, but it was sort of a prototype.
The one I'm working on now, the person wanted me to use a fur yarn, which is a real pain, but makes a nice fluffy cat. In theory. lol

Ohhhh my gosh that is adorable! And the colors are outstanding especially with the eye beads. I wish I had the energy to do this sort of thing in my spare time well enough and fast enough to profit on etsy or something. My sister recently showed me a project she worked on turning a bunch of books into pop up turkeys.

Awwww thank you! And I wish I did too! Tbh, it generally takes me between 1 week and 2 months to do a stuffed animal depending on how much free time I have, how complicad it is, and how much energy I have.
Am hoping to get an etsy shop open eventually and will probably just add new animals in it once every 6 months and just hype it up with big "only 2 months until new babies are here, 1 month....2 weeks...." and so on.
Just a limited quantities thing with however many I've managed to make.

That's great and I wish you luck. Do you use a regular stuffing, or try to go with a higher quality stuff? I think the only time I ever made a pillow I used just a plain cheap synthetic cotton/thing that had a nice bounce, and gave it the firmness of a couch pillow.

I just use basic poly-fil. I tried a super soft stuffing once but, while it was softer on the hands, it was almost too soft in stuffed animals and took a lot more of to get them to a good full yet squishy level of stuffed.

Yeah. It's not too much more per bag until you factor in how many animals you can get per bag. Then it really adds up.

I'm not much of a social media person tbh. But I have Instagram. Mainly for my stuffed dragon, Derpy McBlueEyes.
