Yes and no. Depends really.

Sometimes they have no choice.
When I was younger my hair was thick, coarse and beyond curly into afro.
The texture was too much and my mom decided best way was to get a perm and get it straight.
For years the chemicals of bi-monthly treatments caused my hair to break to no end and it never grew.
Wasn't until a year or so when I cut it all off. Now it's growing back (slowly)...

I know I wasn't the only girl growing up who couldn't handle my curls and decided it was better straight
Now that I think about it, it's outside forces that really determine what happens to our hair

I love it too. While my mom thought straight was better growing up, I never thought it was.
Anyone can have straight hair, but it takes true power to handle these curls

Sadly you can't. Right now I have twists. So you can't see my fro
