Poe is the writer who got me interested in reading, I'm mostly into the dark stuff. And now I'm a poet because of him. His stories are amazing. My favorite story by him is "The Masque of the Red Death", and my favorite poem is "The Raven". What about you?

Absolutely. My most prized possession is a leather bound gold leafed collection of everything he published.

Ohmygosh! I have a complete collection sliver leafed book, and I read one thing every night to help me fall asleep. I find his work strangely soothing.

My peeps be up in here, woot woot. This gives me an excuse to share this, which has been sittin in one of my tabs and I haven't had the heart to close it:
13 Things That Are So "The Raven"

I do love Poe. I have the stamps the US postal service put out a few years ago, a necklace that was made to commemorate the anniversary of his death, and not one, but two Poe inspired scented candles. That's... I may have a bit of a problem.

Nice! Yeah, my cousin-in-law has a pretty neat tattoo on the back of her neck of ravens at stonehenge.
I think if I would get one, it would some roman monument style text wrapping around my wrist - the latin phrase "ET IN ARCADIA EGO" Inspired mainly by the Poussin painting(s)

The Fall of the House of Usher and the Cask of Amontillado were my favorite Poe tales. The Raven, of course, is also a masterpiece. I used to have the whole thing memorized.

Agreed. Has anyone read his novel, I think it's called "The Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym?" I'm just about finished with it.

I haven't gotten around to it yet, no. How is it? How does he do with such a long form? I remember reading the Disappearance of Marie Roget for the first time, and thinking he drew the thing out very much, only to cop out when it came to the denouement.

Poe was my favorite author in high school out of all the things we had to read. I can't say he's my favorite now (I don't have one anyway), but I do still fondly regard his work. I have one of those big books B&N or Books-a-Million was selling with all or a majority of his work, but I since I've moved, I don't know where it is. XD

I remember "The Raven" most, not sure why.
And then pieces of other things: "The Black Cat", "The Cask of Amontillado", "The Tell-Tale Heart", and I think "The Fall of the House of Usher."
Not many!
Once I find my book, I should go through them. 8D

Why's that?

Ooh, I think this is my favorite fact.

Oscar Wilde called Poe a “lord of romance.”

I adore Poe. He is epic in so many ways!
My favourite stories are Tell Tale Heart and The Black Cat, though The Fall of the House of Usher is also quite good.
Favourite poems are The Raven and The Bells... and Israfel :D
