The kingdoms of the forgotten lands have been at war since the last age of humans. The citizens of the lands fight over basic resources and the right to live. Of the three kingdoms of the forgotten lands only one Alphiare welcomes humans in its ranks. Alphiare is the only kingdom to allow humans to live out their lives free from harm. In the forgotten lands humans are the enemy along with all other Elven kingdoms. Alphiare fights for the right to live as a kingdom and for the rights of all it's people. Mortal and immortals alike. Here is where the story starts.

Kingdom of Alphiara:

Alphiara is a kingdom of equality. Every citizen has the sames rights as the other. Each person has their own job. No poverty is found in this kingdom. The best of every field can be found here. Many kingdoms are jealous of Alphiara and seek it's destruction.

Evana

Evana is the city of the pure blood empire. Here only Elves are welcome. No other races will be found here in this eternal city. The technology here rivals that of Alphiara it's self. The leaders of this eternal city are known for leading the war against Alphiara. The only race spared in raids are pure blooded Elves themselves. They are taken to the eternal city and go through reconditioning to ensure they understand that the only true race is Elves themselves. The rulers of the eternal city believe that only Elves have the right to the forgotten lands. It has been theirs since the beginning of time. They don't like the idea of having to share their land nor resources with outsiders who seek refuge in their lands.

Starting point:

Wars have raged for years. Many people in the forgotten lands have lost count of the years they have been at war. The losses on all sides have claimed more lives than sickness or any other disasters. There is a growing number of raids taking people in the night and never to be seen again. There is growing concern among the people of Alphiara. More and more of their citizens are vanishing in the night.

Thorn had woke early as he waited outside the strange house that belonged to one of the noble human families. His father had volunteered him to escort his new classmate to school for her first day. He knew that his father had taken a liking to the girls parents and wanted him to keep her company and help her make friends in their new home. His father had told that the girl was very kind and liked sweets. Thorn brought some of his mothers famous cakes and cookies for the girl in a elven designed box. It made from the finest silver and sapphires. His father had always told him to only get the best for friends and family and to always be courteous to others. He had picked the box thinking it was the most beautiful one he could find. He hoped that the young girl would like it. He was nervous about meeting her. He finally gathered his nerve as he knocked on the door and waited to meet his new class mate.

Lilly played in the rose garden as she waited for her father to be done with his morning meetings. She looked around as she found herself lonely again. She walked up to the guards near the entrance of the garden as she handed each one a rose before leaving heading out into the city. Lilly was use to being on her own and often went into the city to help the people. She loved being with the people and learning from them. The elves where amazing people and good at whatever they chose to be. She slowly wondered around the town till she came to one of the local school and stepped in. She didn't like how everyone treated her differently. Her schooling was done by the scholars themselves and she was ahead of the local schools. However it was nice to see others her own age. She tried to slide into one of the open class rooms without being noticed. However she saw that the teacher noticed her and bowed his head softly but didn't send her away or make a display out of her as most did. She smiled as she took her seat feeling excited for once. Maybe she could be a normal child just for a day.

A bark was heard inside the house as there was a knock on the door. "Lady relax! I'm sure it's no one dangerous." Daphne said as she peaked out through the window and smiled when she saw an elf boy standing there. "Who is it Candy?" her mother asked from the kitchen. "I don't know mother. It's a little boy." she replied and gently pet her dog Lady as she opened the door. "Hello there, may I help you?" she asked politely as she made sure Lady didn't go outside. "Lady, please go back to your bed, you can't go outside. Not until I'm home from school." she explained lovingly to her dog who whined and lay down in front of the window. Her eyes rested on the beautiful box in the boy's hands and she gasped. "Oh, I'm sorry would you like to come inside?" she asked politely as she looked at him carefully. He looked like a nice person, he obviously lived nearby which meant that they would be going to the same school too. Her mother walked over to see who it was and smiled. "Why hello there little child." she said kindly.

Lagordir ran as fast as his feet could take him and he slipped into class, taking his usual seat. "Lagordir, very nice of you to join us." the teacher said to Ping who frowned. "My apologies, I sorta slept in." he said with a frown. "It won't happen again I promise." he promised. His teacher nodded, "I hope it doesn't. I don't want to have to talk to your parents." he warned and instructed the students to open up their books to the next chapter. Ping easily opened up his book to the appropriate spot and waited for the teacher's instructions. "Pass up any work you have completed please." his teacher instructed. The students quietly passed up their work and the teacher smiled. "Good. Today I want us to focus on more literature. I know we did a lot of this already but I want you all to really understand it." the teacher explained. "Does anyone know why literature is so important?" he asked. A student raised his hand, it was ping. "Yes Lagordir?" asked the teacher. "Literature is important because it helps us develop skills such as reading and vocabulary which in turn helps us out in the real world." he answered. "Very good Lagordir, you are correct!" the teacher said with a smile on his face.

Thorn was surprised as a beautiful young girl open the door. He quickly bowed as he rose hearing another voice and then seeing her mother he presumed. "It is a pleasure to meet you both. I am Pharom Thorn Bow and this is for you." He said holding it out for the girl. " My father is ElvenBow I was told you are fond of one another. He asked me to take your daughter to school and help her to make friends. I'm sorry for the confusion I was under the impression my lady that you already knew. My father said that your husband had approved of the idea and thought it would be best to help everyone settle in." He said softly feeling a little out of place as he held out the box for the young girl. He peered past them at the dog as he smiled seeing it. " It's rare to see such a beautiful dog. And your dog is welcome outside if you wold like you can bring her to school the teachers wont mind as long as she is well behaved and wont bite anyone." He offered.

Lilly smiled as she watched a strange boy enter the class late as well. She watched him curious about him. She couldn't help but speak up as she heard his answer. " That is not the only use nor the only reason to learn such works. It is important to understand our cultural and our history. Literature is part of that. We have to learn our past to deiced our future. How can we say we are Elven if we don't study all parts that make up our culture. Literature is just one part of the bigger puzzle. If you do not understand the struggles that people went through how can you truly understand yourself? " She said knowing that she had blown her cover by now. " Literature is a way that people express their ideas. It give us a insight the the thoughts and feelings of the time. Take the Tri war. The great authors made many poems all denoting the devastation of war. Each of the great writes told of the horrors of war. They all had one simple solution and that was peace. There are many poems on peace and stories of our lands being at peace. But none of them say how because no one has ever sought peace. In our poems we learn about the different adventures of the time. We learn of the wrongs of our past. The Tri war was the worst of our wars. The stories that we read are a reminder to us of what outcomes can come from our choices. Most of our scholars are very familiar with great works from the people are just starting to read. "

She said as she smiled softly and looked at the other children. " The Scholars study the great minds of our past and learn from them to help guide us into our future. Take the Loves tale there by Yorwn. It is a story of two lovers who fought for each other through terrible odds. The lessens from that tale are simple. "If you love something then fight for it with all you have. Never lose faith and never doubt yourself. Love can conquer all if it truly is love. " She said as she looked to one of the books at the tale. " But it's not just about love. There are other life lessons in there that many miss. Being true to yourself and standing up for what you believe in is the most important lesson from that story and many of the great authors. We come to school to learn all of this so when we have to out into the world we can become our own person. We can understand the different views of others. We can form our own opinions, have our own ideas, and make our own choices. We have to learn all of this so when it comes down to it. We can learn who each of us are at our core. That is what is most important. We don't come to just get by and be board for days. It's more than that. If you don't know your past you don't have a future. " She said as she finished the entire room silent as the other children staring at her in awe. She looked around as she saw that other classes had joined them to hear her speak. She could tell her father was right. She had his presence when she spoke. Her father had said that she could enchant a blind man into seeing if she wanted to. Her father said her way with words would server her well as a leader.

Daphne giggled and curtsied gracefully before tilting her head to the side as she listened to him speak. Just as he spoke, Daphne's brother Tony walked out from his room and raised an eyebrow as he approached both his mother and his little sister. "Oh dear, my husband probably forgot to inform me of this." Daphne's mother explained and shook her head softly. "That man I tell you." she said and laughed. Daphne took the box and looked at him happily, "Thank-you kindly. You didn't have to get me anything but I truly appreciate it. Oh the box is beautiful!" Daphne chimed and opened it up to see the sweets it contained and squealed, obviously happy. "Wow, he just met you and he already knows what you like. He's a keeper." Tony teased and chuckled. "Sorry, just had to say that." he said and reached down to graba cookie but was too late. Daphne glared up at him with a playful pout. "These are mine. Thorn gave them to me. Not you Tony." she said and grinned over at Thorn. Was Lady really allowed to her school? "Love, did you forget to tell me about your little arrangement with LongBow?" her mother asked her father once he descended the stairs.

"Oh yes my dear, I completely forgot. Forgive me?" he answered. Daphne's mother just smiled and nodded. "Mother may I take Lady to school? I promise I'll take good care of her and I'll make sure she behaves. Please?" she begged. "Well alright Candy but you better really take care of her." her mother warned. "Tony I assume you'll be going to work with your father yes?" she asked her son. Tony nodded and looked at his dad. "Let's go dad, we can't be late." he reminded. Their father kissed their mother's cheek and excused himself along with Tony. "Take care of my little sister!" Tony called back. "Well then, off to school you both go." Daphne's mother said sweetly as she put the leash on Lady and handed it to Daphne. "Have a good day at school you two." she said with a smile on her face. "Thorn, I'll be baking today so please stop by after school when you can. I'm sure your parents would love a cherry pie." Daphne's mother commented. Lady yawned and stood up, happy to be going on a walk.

The classroom was completely silent as she spoke and when she had finished, they just stared at her completely impressed. Even Ping looked at her with a shocked look on his face. The teacher grinned and started to clap his hands. Soon the entire classroom burst into an explosion of applause for Lilly's speech. "You are absolutely right!" he said to her. "Wow, she's so smart!" one girl commented as the applause slowly died down. "That was a wonderful speech." the teacher said politely to her. "I hope you all payed attention and learned from this lovely speech we all heard today because she was absolutely right." the teacher said to his students who only nodded, still surprised by what they had witness. The teacher then proceeded to start the day's lesson and the students sat quietly and payed attention.

Thorn could only smile as he watched everyone. He was surprised by what Tony said. He tried not to think to much on it as he quickly nodded hearing Daphne's mother. " Of course, I promise to have her home before supper." He said as he turned back to Daphne and smiled warmly at her. He gave her a bow and then did the same to Lady. "It's a pleasure to meet you both. And all animals are welcome to our school as long as they are well behaved. " He said softly as he smiled at her. "If you are ready lets please start to the school." He said as he lead the way. He couldn't help but keep looking over at her finding her quiet interesting. "I'm sorry for staring I just haven't met anyone as interesting as you before. I promise to sit near you and help you through the lessons if you need it. You don't strike me though as needing my help in our studies. You seem highly intelligent. " He said meaning it as a complement.

Before Thorn knew it they where outside the large ornate structure. He smiled as he stared at the impressive structure. "This was built ages ago. Yet it is still standing tall and strong. I love the plants that have started to grow on it. You will find that here we encourage nature so if you see plants or animals about please don't be scared. It is normal for our school. Most of the teachers like to teach in the open class rooms where the grass has taken over the floors and foliage the roof. " He said as he gently took her hand smiling leading the way into the building. " Don't worry I'm sure everyone will warm up to you as I have. You have a very warming presence. " He said as he lead the way to the back of the large school. He stopped once they reached two large doors that lead outside to a even larger court yard of shorts. There a small group of children had gather sitting on the ground with one of the teachers before them. He lead the way to the back as he took his seat and smiled at Daphne motioning for her to join him. "Since this is our first day we will have history today. The teacher is very kind and we made it just in time." He said smiling as the teacher counted everyone going over her roll. The women seemed to smile as she saw Daphne. She just laughed as she saw Lady. "You must be Miss Daphne and who is your lovely friend that is joining us for class today dear?" The women asked looking at Lady.

Lilly felt a little out of place and bowed softly not sure what to do. She sat back down and enjoyed the lessen. However her fun was short lived as two palace guards burst through he doors looking for her. She slowly stood as the armored men quickly came to her side taking their protective stances on each side of her. She hung her head as she sighed knowing her fun time was over. She looked up in time to see one of her own Teachers appearing looking very crossed with her. Before she could say a word the Scholar placed her crown on her head. " You know better Princess this is no place for you. What if something had happen to you? Your father would be furious! You walked of and didn't take your guards or notify anyone. I am highly disappointed in you young lady." The Scholar said looking very upset with her till a smile appeared on his lips. The man then laughed as he looked around the room and to the teacher. " I have to admit you are after my own heart. Of all the places you could have wandered off to you chose the school. I will take this as a complement being I'm one of your teachers. Instead of running away from learning you seek it. However you can't run off like that again. Please take your guards and tell someone where you are going. " The man said as he knelt down to so he was eye level with her. "I think for this one time I can look the other way. But don't make this a habit Lilly. " The man said as he smiled at her. It was easy to see he care for her as if she was his owe daughter.

The man rose as he turned looking at the teacher quickly bowing. "Forgive us for the rude intrusion. If we may we would all like to stay and hear you finish your lesson. " The man said as he shifted his head giving a grin to Lilly knowing she just wanted to spend time around other children. The man took his seat beside Lilly as the guards still stood ready to defend their princess at any coast. Lilly couldn't help but smile happy that she was going to get to stay. Even if she had to be the princess now. This was the first time she had been around any children her own age.

"You hear that Lady? Be very well behaved okay?" Daphne told to her dog who only walked beside her calmly. Daphne looked around as they walked, it was a really nice day outside today. "Such a lovely day." she said quietly as she looked at Thorn, "It's really nice to meet you Thorn. You seem like a really nice person." she noted and grinned as she continued to walk beside him. It was sweet that he found her interesting since she didn't think she was all that interesting, but she was happy to hear that he thought so. "Oh please do! You'll be the only person I know, I'd really like to sit beside you." she replied. She didn't want to be with strangers, but if Thorn sat with her, then she had no problem with it. "That's very kind of you too say." she said kindly and nodded. "I'd love all the help I can get though, being new and all." she replied.

The school was very impressive. She was expecting it to be like any other regular school but this was nothing like a regular school. So many vines with flowers adorned some of the walls, making it look more abandoned than anything. Daphne listened to Thorn carefully and nodded. "I just...I hope they don't get too close." she said and looked down at Lady who was walking happily since her tail was wagging and she was looking around. "It looks beautiful with all the plants." she noted and smiled as he took her hand and led her into the building. Lady followed them quietly. "Interesting. This is going to be an exciting school to attend." Daphne chimed happily as she walked with Thorn over to the class. Seeing him sit on the ground, she smoothed out her dress beneath her and carefully sat down, motioning for Lady to sit beside her. Lady easily sat as she was instructed and looked around the room. "History?" she repeated and smiled, "Sounds lovely." she said and pet Lady gently before looking up at the teacher. "Yes I am. This is my dog Lady. She's really sweet, and my best friend but I hope I can make more friends here." Daphne answered politely.

The teacher stopped his lesson when two guards burst through the doors. He was about to speak but stopped himself when he realized that they were only here to protect the princess. Ping looked over at the guards and it was then that he realized the girl was actually the princess. He had never truly seen her before so he didn't know her very well, he had only heard about her. They were right when they said she was a very pretty girl. The class was once again focused on what was going on in the back of the class, all surprised to see the royal guards in their class. To them, this day was officially the coolest day. Ping knew he was going to have to tell his parents about this. Lilly...her name was Lilly. He'd have to remember that.

The teacher shook his head and smiled, "Oh it's no problem at all. It's a tremendous honor to have you all sit in for the class. Please sit down." he said with a smile on his face before turning his attention to his students. "Where were we? Oh right, we were talking about the importance of Literature and after Lagordir and her highness talked about the importance, I think it would only be fair to have you each write a poem about the town of Evana. It could be good, it could be bad. It does not matter, as long as your poem says a story." the teacher explained. "This chapter has a few poems that I want all of you to look at and read. They can help you form an outline for your poem. Remember, it doesn't have to rhyme. It just has to tell a story." he sent and went ahead to explain the different kinds of poems.

Thorn could only smile as he found he really liked Daphne. She was a very special girl. He could already see she was going to go far. He smiled as he watched the others turn and look at Daphne and Lady. The other children where excited and fascinated by Lady. The other children all turned as they all got up and stood around Daphne and Lady. Each one wanting to find out more about Lady and Daphne. The teacher seemed a little lost at this but seemed to just smile as she came and joined the group that gathered around Daphne and Lady. The teacher smiled as she peered down at Daphne and Lady having a idea to help everyone learn something but get to spend time getting to know about their new classmates. “ Daphne and Lady why don’t you tell us about yourselves. What are your interest, your goals, your dreams, what is your favorite places here, what makes Alphiara different than any other places you may have seen, what do you like here, and what do you feel could be improved. “ The teacher said as she took a seat on the ground along with the other children waiting to hear from Daphne.

The teacher smiled as she looked to Daphne. “One last thing, I would like for you to bring in any of your favorite food you mention today for the class to try tomorrow. As well as any pictures you would like for the class to see. Since everyone here is interested in learning about each other we will make this a class report. I expect everyone to bring in pictures, and their favorite food and be ready to give us a report on what they like and dislike about our home. You will be expected to go into depth about yourself and your dreams, goals, places you have traveled and things that just make you happy. Please write down the questions I have asked Daphne so you can prepare. “ The teacher instructed as she looked to Daphne. “ My dear I will let you choose who goes tomorrow. It is only fair after this array of events. I would say I’m sorry but life is not always kind to us. Just pretend you are speaking with Lady if it helps you. I will not grade you on your presentation. So there is no wrong or right way to do it. That goes for everyone here.” The teacher said as she smiled at the students who seemed very excited about this change of events. All eyes fell back on Daphne and Lady as everyone waited to hear what Daphne had to say.

Lilly wished she could just melt into the floor as all eyes feel on her once again. She looked to her own teacher who just smiled at her trying to reassure her. She knew he meant well but she didn’t like wearing her crown or being surrounded by guards all the time. They should protect their own family not her. She was safe in her own kingdom and if not than something was seriously wrong and should be fixed immediately. Her father didn’t feel the same way and insisted that she be given guards and treated different that the people of the city. He always told her that she was royalty and she should start acting like it. She knew that she couldn’t win the fight with him on this matter and was stuck with these guards. Her teacher was the one who finally explained the reason why. With the war going on if any rebels came in and found her she would be their prize. If she was taken her father would be in a very compromising position.

Her teacher was actually one of the top Scholars of the Eleven people as a whole. He knew more about the history and culture of their people than most would ever learn. He was young for his position but he wasn’t arrogant. He was humble and kind and full of wisdom. Unlike most there was no anger in him. He was what Lilly hoped she could be. He was so kind and cared for everything not just every body. Lilly had been lost in her thoughts about her teacher when looked up hearing her name from her teacher. The man looked a little concerned she could tell from his face he had been talking to her. “I’m sorry did you say something?” She asked as the man just smiled at her and laughed a little. “ That’s my little one off in your thoughts again aren’t you?” Her teacher asked she smiled as she heard what the other teacher had to say. “You are slipping Dragon people are starting to be able to ignore you.” She said in a playing tone at a whisper. The man just laughed. His name translated to Dragon and that is what she called him just as he called her little one. Dragon pointed to the book he had found near them on the floor for her to see the poems that the teacher spoke of. Lilly smiled happy to see that Dragon was enjoying this as she was. However she knew it would soon end and she would be forced back to her gilded cadge.

However for now she enjoyed herself and the lesson. Even her guards seemed to relax some and enjoyed the lesson. Once the lesson was done she stood as Dragon took her hand putting the book back where he had found it as he stood with her. “ If you promise to not leave without me or the guards we can make this a regular part of your schooling.” Dragon said to Lilly who seemed over joyed. Lilly looked back to where Ping was as she smiled at him. Dragon slowly made his way to the other teacher with a request so all the children could hear. “ Sir, may I have a word with you? I am sorry for our intrusion earlier. I was wondering would you and your students mind coming to the palace one or twice a week for your lessons? I have a library of complete words dating back to our forefathers and history is everywhere at the palace. We will of course feed you and the children and I will pay you myself if you are willing to do this. “ He said as he turned and looked to the other children. “ Besides I don’t believe many of you children have seen the palace in person. Who knows you might have to go to the market for a field trip and help the cooks gather supplies for your meals.” He said knowing most children would jump at the chance of not being in school. Though they would learn life skills by going to the market and people skills witch was what the schools where trying to teach them. The market place would allow the students to have practical use for what they where learning. Dragon was doing this for Lilly but he also loved to teach and found pleasure teaching any that he could using any method.

He knew that Lilly would benefit from being around the other children. And the children would benefit from being around her and the resources of knowledge she had. He also figured it would help the children here have a better understanding of the local government being allowed to see it in action for themselves. The palace was where all matters of state was handled. The children could see the warriors in training, see the advisers and could possible have a few lessons from the King and Queen on decision making and the importance of their jobs and title. He knew that the other advisers and Scholars would jump right on board happy to have the teacher and children. Most where like him and loved teaching. Now all that stood in his way was the teachers answer.

Daphne looked around, confused as to why everyone was surrounding them. Was this normal? She felt slightly odd getting so much attention when all she wanted was to learn. She looked over at Thorn and smiled before looking at the teacher and listening to what she was saying. "Oh... well okay I can try." she started and pet Lady with her hand. "My name is Daphne Thompson but my parents sometimes call me Candy. I got that nickname because of my love for sweets. My interests are helping as much as I can. I enjoy helping around the house and even outside of the house even though my big brother usually doesn't let me do many things. I also enjoy taking Lady on walks and playing with her. My goals? Well my goals are to make some friends here and learn as much as I can so that I can easily obtain my dream job as a nurse once I grow up." Daphne replied confidently. What was her favorite place here? "Well I don't think I have a favorite place here yet since I'm still pretty new to this town, but it's so beautiful from what I've seen so far. This place is very different from where I used to live. For one, it's not hot here and it looks clean when I walk around. Alphiara is also very beautiful which really make it stand out. I like the people here, they seem to be very friendly and haven't tried hurting Lady so far. I do not think anything needs to be improved at the moment, everything seems to be running perfectly from what I see." she answered and turned to look at Lady. "This is Lady, she's an Afghan Hound Dog and she's five years old. Her interests include eating, getting brushed, bathing, and talking walks. I'm not sure what her goals and dreams are though. Her favorite place is probably the park, I think that's it. Alphiara is different because she doesn't seem afraid of the people here like she used to be back where we lived. I think she likes that fact, the fact that she can walk with me without being yelled at or anything. I don't think she knows what should be improved." Daphne answered honestly.

"My favorite food? Oh dear, that's really hard to answer." Daphne started as she thought of all the foods her mom made and which could be her favorite. Well I really like eating the Broccoli and Spinach Lasagne that my mom makes. I would be happy to bring that over tomorrow! Sometimes my mom adds grilled beef bits to it. It's really good even though I know it sounds gross." she said and laughed softly. So she was to bring food and pictures tomorrow? Sounded easy enough. Quickly, she pulled out her notebook and pencil and began to write down the questions so that she wouldn't forget. "I will be sure to bring photos for you all to see tomorrow. I'll bring Lady too, she seems to like all the attention she's getting." Daphne assured with a smile as she looked at Lady who was now laying on her side, completely relaxed now and happy.

Ping took notes of the lesson and looked over at Lilly to see she was smiling at him. He smiled back at her and waved before looking back down at his things and quickly brushed some hair away from his face while the teachers conversed. The teacher nodded and raised an eyebrow at Dragon. "You need not be sorry, it was an honor to have you all here. Are you sure you want to do that? These children have never seen the palace and I'm afraid they might get a little out of hand." he said and looked over to Ping who was playing with the pencil. "Of course, I will make sure they remain calm." the teacher assured. The students cheered happily at the thought of visiting the palace. Ping only nodded happily as he continued to play with his pencil. He then reached into his pocket and pulled out a small opal gem. He was going to give it to his mother but he didn't think she'd be too happy to know he was traveling on a school day. The teacher smiled, "I think we would be honored to visit the Palace. I think it would really help the children learn important skills they will need in the future." the teacher agreed.

Ping quietly stood and walked over to Lilly, afraid of the guards he made sure there was some space between them. He reached out and held out the opal for her. "You can have this. I don't need it. Think of it as a welcome gift from me." he said quietly and peaked up at the guards nervously. If she didn't want it then he'd give it to his mother and worry about it later, but he really hoped that she'd accept it. "It's an opal.. I got it during one of my travels today before school." he explained nervously.

Thorn was impressed with Candy. He couldn’t help but smile as he heard how she got her nick name. He liked it for her. She was sweet and kind just like any candy he had ever hand. He felt lucky to be the one sitting next to her. He could tell that some of the others where jealous and for once he wanted to fight for something. This was a odd concept for him. He had fought before under orders for training. But at this moment he would take on any of the others who tried to take his place. He wondered if this was what his brother had meant when he told him one day he would find a reason to fight. Thorn kept quiet as he listen to Candy enjoying hearing what she had to say. He smiled as he looked to Lady who seemed happy to just be there. He could see that the pair had a strong bond. Living in harmony was important to his people even if not all Elves practiced it.

Thorn had been lost in his thoughts when he heard a beautiful chime come from deep within the school building. “It’s time to leave already? “ He said out loud as the other children frowned. They wanted to stay and learn more from Candy and Lady. He looked to Candy once the others had left along with the teacher as he stood holding out his hand for her. “My lady” He said with the utmost respect for her showing his aristocrat raising. He bowed his head slightly as he waited for her. “I hope you don’t mind but I adore the name Candy for you. Will you be my Candy?” He asked hoping that she would be. “ I would like to escort you to school and home everyday if you let me or where ever else you like. Don’t worry I’ll do my report tomorrow and you can learn about me. If you would like I would be happy to help you prepare for tomorrow. I know some cooking skills. And worst case I can clean or wash the dishes to help you.” He said meaning what he said honestly wanting to spend more time with her.

Lilly let Dragon set up everything he was good at his job she had no reason not to trust him. Her eyes kept going back to Ping who made her smile even more. She found him slightly odd but in a good way. She had never met a Elf like him before. She could tell he was different and she happen to like it. She paused and held her breath as she tried to stand her ground trying to look dignified as Ping approached. Not many dared to approach her with her royal guards in toe. She was stunned as he offered her a beautiful stone. Not many people handed her rare things without going through her parents first. She couldn’t help but smile again as she laughed and stepped out and gently took the stone. She ignored the guards as she held up her hand to them to stop them from stopping her. “ You are dismissed please wait outside. Dragon is here with me. There are no other exits so there fore I am safe.” She said to the horror of the guards who reluctantly bowed to her before doing as she asked. Lilly just giggled as she found herself alone with Ping and the teachers.
“Thank you, I adore it and promise to keep it always. I haven’t seen one of these in ages. I thought such stone could only be found in Alphira. Since the war not many have been seen here. Are you sure you don’t want this? I know to the nobles these are priceless and you can name your price. “ Lilly said as she held the beautiful opal with both hands her eyes filled with wonder over it. “ I’m sorry for disturbing your class. You are very different than most I have ever met. Not many would dare approach me with my guards. That’s the reason I run from them and hide when I come out of the palace. People fear my father’s title and power it’s sad honestly. I like people to be happy and free. Kindness like you shown should be rewarded. My mother always says that. I hope to be liked her one day. She is wise past her years you know and beautiful as summers night. “ She said as she smiled at Ping thinking on what she could do for him in return. “Oh, here.” She said as she pulled at the beautiful Lilly necklace around her neck. It glowed with magical power as she removed one of the silver leaves from it. She watched as the necklace healed it’s self as if it was a living being. The necklace reattached it’s self to the remaining flower. It was easy to see a leaf was missing on a side. Lilly held out the silver leaf that still glowed a faint white full of mystical power. “ This is Lillyora the necklace of the Queen. It is blessed with magical properties and only a ruler of pure heart may wear it. It will protect the wearer and prevent death. It will also give the wearer healing abilities and the abilities to talk with plants and wild life.” She explained as she gazed at the beautiful leave in her hand now. “Please take this as my gift to you, for the kindness you shown. If you are ever in trouble speak my name and it let you contact me. This one leaf will also protect you and give you the same abilities as the rest of Lillyora. Use it’s power wisely or despair will be yours. Remember only those pure of heart may wield this.” She said smiling with fondness for the necklace. “ With this you may enter and leave the palace with ease. The guards will not stop you nor will my father himself. It’s the one privilege I have as Lillyora’s owner. Lillyora hasn’t been worn in a millennium. I am the only heir that has been found worthy to wear it. Many hold the legends of this necklace in high regard there for I get away with much unlike my brothers and sisters. “ She said as she smiled hoping that he would take the leaf he offered him.

Daphne was surprised with all the attention both she and Lady were receiving. Was it because they were new to the area? It made her happy though, to see that everyone here seemed to be very friendly already though she wondered if that would ever change. Sometimes people were kind but could easily become an enemy without explanation. She hoped that Thorn wouldn't become her enemy though, she hoped that they could become friends since she already took a liking to him as a friend. Daphne was happy to be sitting next to him, hopefully this is how it would be all the time. She looked down at Lady who lay quietly as ever while the other students crowded around them. "It is alright to pet her, she won't bite." Daphne told the students who obviously wanted to pet her silky soft coat. Hearing a sweet chime, both Lady and Daphne looked up to see that the students were hesitantly standing and leaving, along with the teacher. Turning her attention back to Thorn, Daphne smiled and chuckled. "My good sir." she said politely and took his hand, standing and curtsying after grabbing Lady's leash. "Come along Lady, time to head back home." she said sweetly.

Lady yawned and stood up, ready for the walk back home. "I do not mind Thorn, I'd be more than happy to be your Candy." she said and smiled happily. At least she had made one friend today, that's all she ever really wanted. Listening to his suggestion, her smile grew wider as did her eyes. "You really mean that Thorn?" she asked curiously and grinned. "I would really like that, and I'd love to learn more about you. You seem like a really nice person and I'm happy that I can call you a friend. I'd appreciate the help, and I'm sure Lady would be happy to see you too you know, I think she's taking a liking to you." she said, looking at Lady who nuzzled Thorn's hand, wanting to be pet. "One must not keep Lady waiting." she whispered, knowing that if Lady was kept waiting she could turn aggressive. "I hope I can make the Lasagna for tomorrow. I'm wondering if I should bring milk for the class to drink." she commented.

Lagordir was confused when Lilly had laughed and wondered if she was laughing at him. The thought was unpleasant and he quickly got rid of it. Listening to her words, he watched as the guards left the classroom leaving her alone with ping and everyone else in the classroom at the time. He nodded at her comment about the stone, "That's because that is where I got it from. I was in Alphiria today before school started. I'm sure my mother would have scolded me if she found out. I'm glad you like it princess." Ping replied and bowed his head in respect. "Do not worry, I don't need it, and I'd rather give it to someone who will appreciate it. I don't travel for money, I travel because I like it." he explained, and wondered if he was saying too much. He listened to her apologize and shook his head, "Don't be sorry, we're all honored that you decided to drop by. It was a very lovely surprise and I think I speak for all of us when I say that I hope you continue to do so when you can." he replied honestly. He knew that everyone here even the teacher was happy to see that the princess had payed them all a visit.

"They do look rather intimidating, but I had nothing to fear since I do not think I'm doing anything wrong. I guess you could say I like to take risks." he said and chuckled softly. He was really enjoying talking to her, she sure didn't act like a princess. She was just like everyone else really. He smiled as she spoke of her mother, it seemed that they got along just fine. "I'm sure she is very lovely, and I'm sure you look just like her." Ping pointed out with a smile. When she offered him a leaf in return for the opal, he frowned slightly. "I-it's okay, I don't need anything in return." he started but he could tell that she wanted him to take it. "Thank-you, I'll carry it with me always, and I'm truly honored to receive such a gift from you princess." he replied and bowed in respect after taking the leaf into his hand. Only the pure of hear could wear it, well he couldn't exactly wear it unless he got a chain for it. Until then he'd just carry it around in a pocket of sorts, a safe one so it wouldn't fall out.

Thorn laughed at Lady's nuzzle as he gently petted her loving. He bowed to her as well, "Thank you my Lady." He said to the esteemed Lady herself. Once he was done petting lady he stood as he smiled at Candy gently taking her hand as he placed it on his arm. He began to lead her out of the school building as he enjoyed his time with her. "Don't worry I will help you with your Lasagna. Having me around is a perk well in some areas. Due to my fathers position here I know most people. I don't always like the responsibilities that comes with it, but it's a trade off I guess. What is the saying, to those who are giving much. They are expected to do much?" He said as he tried to remember how the old saying went. " Oh well looks like I messed that old Proverbs up as well." He said as he laughed. He lead her through the different parts of the city so she could see the city herself. He made sure to stop by all the other human houses so Candy could see she wasn't alone here. "That is Mira she is about our age. Maybe soon you and her could spend sometime together." He said hoping that would make Candy smile. Mira was a girl of blond hair and blue eyes. It was easy to see from her dress she was from a powerful family. "She doesn't play with just anyone. I'm a exception because of my social rank. Please don't judge her on that. It's her families way and as a child she must obey them as you and I must obey our families will for now. Her parents believe that separating her from common folk will keep her safer when the attacks come. I don't believe that to be true by any means. If anything it will be worse."

Thorn said as he frowned thinking about the raids. "You don't know much about the....." Before he could finished a loud explosion went off near by causing mass panic and utter chaos. Thorn reached for Candy making sure to pull Lady along as he quickly found them cover in one of the old palaces. The palaces where now returned to nature and parks for the people of the city. He hide Candy and Lady in one of the towers as he pulled out several small glass bottles. He looked at the green one as he threw it at Candy's feet suddenly making a massive wall of vines grow around her and lady to hide them. They could see out through the holes in the vines but not many could see in. Thorn turned as he heard foot steps approaching. He removed his coat revealing his bow and arrows he had been hiding under it. He quickly retreaded them and readied himself as four men suddenly appeared in the room."Ah, we found one of the sons of Long Bow. The King will be please lets capture the little brat!" The commander said in a cruel voice not even noticing lady or Candy in their vine hide away. Thorn didn't say a word as one of the men moved towards him. Instead he turned quickly keeping his back to Lady and Candy sending a lethal shot to the man that dared to move his way. He did the same till there where no more men there. He kept his guard for a good hour till clear bells could be heard. He then turned as he ran to where Candy was.

Thorn used one of his arrow heads to cut the vines away for Candy and Lady to Escape. "Are you two alright?" He asked more concerned with their safety than anything that had happen. He looked the pair over making sure that no harm had come to them turning as he heard screams coming from Mira's household. He took Candy's hand again as he ran out back into the streets to find sweet Mira with a spear through her along with a small collection of other humans. Elvish notes where everywhere speaking of the evils of humans and the evil that the elves here spread by allowing them to stay among them. Thorn without thinking quickly turned as he shielded Candy from the sight holding her close to his body. He slowly lead her home not wanting to talk about the writes and the messages. All he wanted was to protect her and keep her safe. He lead her home not allowing her to see any of the chaos till they where at her door her mother already there about worried to death. Thorn gently let go of Candy as he waited for her to reunite with her mother.

Lilly smiled as she listen to him. However her smile faded into a frown as she heard where he had gotten the stone from.
"Alphiria you dare to travel there? Shh! You must not speak of that place so openly." She said to Ping at a whisper so none of the others could hear."My father would kill you if he knew. Don't you know it's Elven law that none are to dare venture into that forbidden place?" She asked honestly wondering if he had lived under a rock his entire life. She looked up as she heard a bell and saw the children starting to leave. She gently took Pings hand as she blended in with the other children in the mass exits of the school building. She lead the way breaking from from the children to her favorite spot. She gently let go of Pings hand knowing they could speak freely in the forgotten city. The forgotten city was two miles out of the kingdom a middle ground of shorts for most other Elven Kingdoms.Lilly had taken Ping into the thrown room of the forgotten city it was only accessed by one of royal birth. She had found the place years ago and used it for her amusement.

Lilly paced back and forth the great marble room. The room looked untouched since the day it was abandon. The books and every items still there. The plants dared not to even disturb the great city. After a while Lilly finally stopped pacing as she confronted Ping. " Alphiria is it as beautiful as all the books say?" She asked as she lead the way to one of the Large tables off the thrown room. She had a stack of book on the table each one on a different Elven kingdom. She had Elven rule books everywhere along with elven history. She pointed to the ones on Alphirea."The Books say that the best rules come from there. That they are wise and just. I have read every book in this library hundreds of times trying to wrap my head around what happen to us." Lilly said as sadness shown in her eyes. "Our greatest King came from there and our best ideas. But it all changed the moment humans came to our land." She said obviously complexed over this fact."How can one being separate a nation of great people? " She asked in general as she pointed to the different history books that referenced the split of the Elven nations. " They all say a great sickness filled the human lands killing the land and all it's animals. The few humans that fled to us are the only survivors. Our king being just found hope, peace, and most of all goodness in the strange people. That is why he allowed them to stay with us. But some of them brought the sickness with them. It ate them from the inside out. Their hearts where twisted and darken. Because of their actions of killing the great King their sickness became our own. That is when we as a people learned of "Greed, Jealousy, Envy, Lust, and all the evils that comes with hate. The sickness infected our people corrupted them taking the light from them and turning all that was pure in them to evil and darkness.
The Kings three sons could not come to a agreement so the kingdom split into three. My Father and his brother agreed humans should die for what they did and the sickness they brought to us. " Lilly said as a small tear fell from her eye looking at the book of innocent lives on both sides of this war Pershing together."Alphira lost their king and became a democracy of shorts. ElvenBow is my fathers main target. ElvenBow is the leader of the Elven people there. However he has chose a human man to be on the conical and be his equal. This will not sit well with my father." She said as she looked up hearing screams and shouting as she raced to one of the large ornate windows. She watched as their warriors returned covered in blood the sight making her want puke. " Why do they find rejoice in this? IN all our history we never found joy in war? Is my father really under the human sickness along with his brother? I want to know more about the humans there. Can you tell me about them? "She asked Ping as she turned from the Window not wanting to see anymore blood.

"I've read many books here and for all the evil there is as much good in humans. I don't want to be like my father. I want everyone to live together in peace. I want us all to learn from one another like our great King wanted. I want to be fair like my mother was. " She said as she showed Ping the white book with the illustration of every ruler and their families. " My father met my mother when they where young. The two grew up together. When the humans first came here they had just been married. My father hadn't always hated humans at first he was for them and he saw goodness in them. Then one night that changed. My mother was attacked by a group of human males with the sickness of the heart. She was left for dead after they did unspeakable things to her. They did it to many that night. That is when my father changed he and his brother banded together along with most of the higher nobles against the humans. My mother lived long enough to have me and then died. For all the maids and even my uncle my father never recovered from that night. My mother was killed that night and became a shell. She never left her room and feared all men after that. " Lilly said as she frowned seeing that the page was now blank for herself and her fathers rule. " I don't believe the stories however. A women with as much goodness as her wouldn't give up so easily. I want to meet humans for myself and make my own mind. However please promise you'll be safe if you go back. My fathers laws are absolute and any of our kind caught there will be executed. I don't want that for you. I happen to really like you." She said as she smiled at him warmly.

Daphne laughed softly and shook her head. "I don't think I know that one very well." she said as she walked with him happily, holding Lady's leash in her free hand. "Thank-you for offering to help, I truly appreciate it Pharom." she thanked and looked over at the other human girl, it was very reassuring to see that she wasn't alone here. "Perhaps someday, she seems like a nice girl. I do believe it's wrong to keep her away from common folk though, it might be worse for her you're right." Daphne agreed softly. The three of them continued walking and she raised an eyebrow. "Attacks?" she repeated, rather confused.

Before Pharom had a chance to explain, a loud explosion was heard, causing Lady to start barking viciously. Everyone nearby started panicking and running trying to get away from the danger. Daphne's eyes widened and she quickly followed Pharom with Lady to a place to hide. "Pharom!" she called out as she watched him throw a green bottle at the floor, hiding both her and Lady, but he was exposed. "Oh dear...!" she gasped and tried to calm down her frightened dog as she peaked out through the holes of the vines and watched Pharom closely. Daphne remained silent, petting the still shaken but quiet Lady in her arms. "It's okay...w-we'll be okay." she whispered soothingly as she watched Pharom grab a bow and arrow, as he shot the arrow to one of the men. Her eyes widened in fear as she watched him keep doing this until no more men remained.

Hearing the bells ringing, she looked around and buried her face in Lady's soft fur, only to look back up when she heard Pharom's voice. "Y-yes we're okay...what about you? W-what happened?" she asked, still shaken from the event. Again, before he could say anything, screams were heard and she quickly ran with him, making sure to keep Lady close as they approached Mira's house. She only got to see a glance of what looked like Mira before Pharom's body covered her view. She wanted to ask what had happened, but right now she just wanted to make sure they got home safely. Daphne frowned as she allowed him to take her back home, Lady followed close by, sniffing around. When they arrived at her house, her mother opened the door, the smell of pies greeted them along with the worried look of her family. "Oh thank the heavens you're all okay!" her mother breathed and hugged all three of them. Daphne smiled weakly and looked at Pharom. "W-would you l-like to stay for a while?" she asked quietly.

Lagordir was confused when she frowned and listened to her speak. He only smiled and nodded at her question. He was about to speak but Lilly was already dragging him out of the classroom and towards some place he had never seen before. "Princess please, I know no one is supposed to go there and that;s why I love traveling there. I've never been a fan of rules." he said and frowned. She was right, if the guards and her father found out about his travels he'd be killed right then and there. What would become of his parents? "I know it's against the law....but that's not going to stop me from doing what I love princess." he said seriously and looked around the place they now stood in. It was an abandoned throne room.

He watched her pace back and forth as if contemplating something and crossed his arms across his chest. When she asked him if Alphiria was as lovely as the books described it to be, he nodded in silence. "It's even more beautiful in person. Nature is everywhere, and the humans and elves are living together peacefully. Gems are often found on the ground scattered, but if you can't find any, a blacksmith is usually able to give you one if he's in a good mood." Lagordir explained softly and followed him to a large table. He looked at the books and smiled warmly, this was where she liked to hide away he guessed. Listening to her words he chuckled and nodded. "Well I don't doubt it. Alphirea looks so friendly, they don't turn away elves or humans. In fact, they welcome them. They love getting visitors. Wise and just is true, they don't hold prejudice, and I've never seen any residents fight with each other." he explained honestly. Lagordir was silent again as he listened to her speak and looked at the books as she did. When she finished and asked him to tell her about the humans he frowned. "Listen princess. Not all humans are kind, but not all humans are cruel either. The soldiers rejoice because they think they're doing the right thing." he replied and nodded. "I'll tell you what I know. Perhaps I can bring you along sometime. So that you can see how lovely it is and how kind the people are." Lagordir explained and smiled.

"The people are always offering you baked goods, free of charge and the children as you to play with them. All the humans there are working just as hard as any elf is. Sometimes I like to sit on a tree branch and watch them in silence. I even talked to a human once. He was a blacksmith and gave me a few gems since he had plenty." he started and reached into his other pocket, pulling out a handful of gems from Amethysts, Emeralds, Topaz', Rubies and pearls. "You can have them, I don't need them. I'm sure they're of more use to you than they are to me." he said and smiled warmly. When Lilly said she wanted everyone to live together, he grinned and listened to her speak. She was very passionate about this, he could tell that she really wanted this and he wanted to help her out however he could. "I am sorry for what happened to your mother." he said quietly and watched her closely. Lagordir nodded, a serious look of determination on his face. "I give you my promise that I shall stay safe princess, just for you, because I happen to like you too." he admitted and smiled warmly at her. "If you want to see them, I'd be happy to take you to see them someday.

Thorn was surprised by the hug as he looked to Candy. He tried to smile at her reaching behind his head to scratch the back of his neck out of nervousness. He felt his bow as his eyes winded starting to feel his chest as he looked down not seeing his jacket. He was frantic as he cursed in his own language looking back to Candy and then to her mother in a pleading manner. "I will be back I promise. Please if my father or any of his guards ask tell them I went to the school. And you saw no bow or arrow." He said as he looked to Candy. "I will return I promise but my mother will kill me if I loose another jacket." He said as he turned and quickly vanished out of sight.

Thorn ran back through the streets to the place where he had left his jacket. He quickly grabbed it as he noticed that the bodies of the men where gone. He paused long enough to see that everything was being cleaned up. He felt made for Mira and her family as he stood in the middle of the street saying a prayer for her and her family. He said one for the others as he walked to one of the markets and talked with the human merchant who gathered everything he needed for his project and the ingredients for Candy's Lasagna. He paid the man who looked so shock at the attacks not sure what to say to help him. The atmosphere had changed everyone was gloomy and sad. He didn't like this one bit. He slowly made his way back to Candy carrying over seven bags for their projects. He didn't dare look Candy in the eye not wanting to be the one to tell her what had really happen. He didn't want her to know or for her to worry. However he was sure her brother would appear shortly after hearing the severity of this attack. He couldn't look in her eyes or her mothers as he stood outside waiting to be let in. " I got everything that you should need Candy. The man said everything I bought should be what you need to make your dish. I even bought you extra milk for everyone at class tomorrow. "If you would rather be alone with your family I understand." He said not sure if her family wanted to be alone after the attacks of today. He had a feeling that her mother knew about the "raids and the purges of humans." That the other elven kingdoms did from time to time. The military did their best to fight off the attacks but at times the other kingdoms where unstoppable.

Lilly listen as she smiled and laughed. " Then you better keep your promise. I will hold you to it! " Lilly said as she looked at all his stone and shook her head. "No, I don't need them. However if you are going to collect them why not put them to use for you. Come on let me show you the forge here. I think you might be the only person who can use it." She said as she reached taking his hand in hers smiling warmly at him feeling complete for once as she did so. She lead him through the abandon city and to the great forage. It was fully functional and had years worth of material to forage anything that a blacksmith wished. Lilly was impressed with it's size as she lead him inside of it. She was amazed as the tools started to glow as Ping neared them.

"See I told you, you where meant to be here. The books say that only the best of the best blacksmith can come here. Only when they are near will the tool glow. They book say that all you have to do is image a item and hold one of the tools and it will appear before you. I'm sure there is a little more than that but that is for you to find out. Why not start making things with your stones. You could help make money for yourself or give beautiful items as hope for people. The choice is yours." She said as she smiled amazed with how brightly the forge glowed with Ping in it. She thought about what he said and smiled as she looked to him. "I have never met a human. It would be nice to leave the palace walls. I hope you will not every leave and grow board with me. I know I'm not very interesting and guarded but I will try and be a good friend." Lilly said as she smiled. " With the leaf I gave you, you should be allowed in here on your own." She said smiling.

Daphne raised an eyebrow confused but nodded at what he said and watched him run off. She closed the door once Lady was inside the house and curled up in front of the fireplace. While he was gone, Daphne started to tell her parents about her day at school and frowned. "What happened?" she asked her mother who looked at her husband sadly. "Candy.." her father spoke softly and watched as Tony ran down the stairs and hugged his little sister tightly in his arms, just happy to know that she was safe. Their parents smiled sadly and their mother looked at Thorn. "Please come in dear it's okay." she said and wanted to cheer everyone up somehow. "Candy, this attack was more of a raid. The...elves of Evana don't like humans living with the elves here. So they have these raids to get rid of as many humans as they can. The attacks are very unpredictable, but they don't usually last very long because people like your friend here fight them to protect humans like us." Daphne's father explained.

Daphne frowned but nodded in understanding. She didn't quite understand why the elves hated the humans, but she didn't want to find out. She just wanted to forget it happened. She hugged back her brother and looked over at Thorn smiling. "You really didn't need to buy everything, but thank-you I appreciate it." she said and took some of the bags from him. "What is all this for?" Tony asked. "I have to make a favorite dish of mine and I said mother's lasagna. So I have to make it and take it to the class tomorrow. I'm also supposed to take some pictures." she explained. "That's very interesting." her father said softly. They were all still pretty shaken by the attack earlier. "Thorn said he would help me. He has become my best friend." Daphne said with a grin on her face.

Lagordir smiled and placed the gems back in his pocket. A forge for him to use? Sounded interesting so he followed her over to a great forge. It too was abandoned like everything else. "Wow..." he said softly as he looked around at the various kinds of materials he could use. He had never used a forge before so this was going to be quite interesting. When he noticed that the tools had begun to glow, he freaked and looked at Lilly. "Is that supposed to happen?" he asked her curiously.

He was relieved and surprised to her her answer. "I am meant to be here?" he repeated and looked down at the glowing tools. Books never lied, that much he knew. "Make something...alright princess I shall make you something." he said and a few rubies from his pocket and thought for a bit. What could he make for her? "What would you like?" he asked her curiously. He just hoped that whatever he made turned out good enough for her expectations. She was a princess, and he wanted to impress her with something nice. If he was meant to be a blacksmith, then this should be easy right? "Someday you'll meet a human princess. I'll make sure you do. You'll love Alphiria." he said and shook his head. "I could never get bored of you princess, I'm honored you're even talking to me and want to be friends. I hope you don't get tired of me, and I hope I can be a good friend to you." he replied honestly.

Thorn hung his head seeing how upset everyone was. He was happy to know that her family was safe as he looked to Candy's father. " I promise as long as Candy is with me and Lady no harm will come to them. " He said as he knelt slightly bowing out of respect. He rose as he looked to Candy and smiled. " Of course, I will always happily help." He said as his eyes had a gleam of happiness reflecting them as he stared at her. He turned as he looked at her father as frowned slightly. " I would suggest you don't breath words of this to my mother. You must understand my family has natural talents for war. We are skilled fighters even at young ages. My brother is the youngest general and is always away trying to defend us. So my mother is a mess. My father has been teaching me combat and fighting in secret." He said as he looked up his eyes lighting up with passion. " I am very good and hope to join my brother one day. Not because I glorify the war. " He said as he turned looking at Candy and smiled. "But because I believe in the values and dreams here of every person. I want to protect the people I love and the innocent. I want to make a difference. " He said as he looked back to Candy's father. " You sir and my father are suited for your roles. I am not a politician as the Elders hope and my mother hopes. I may have the manners and knowledge for it. But my true skills are better served defending our people. Normally the raids are nothing like they where today. However more and more of our Elven residence are being taken. Our army will go out and maybe if we are lucky ten will return out of a hundred. We aren't sure what is happening. But the lands here belonged to the Elves. Sadly some of the Elves view humans.." He closed his eyes as he clinched his feast thinking of the messages and more Mira.

It took him a while before he could open his eyes and speak. He kept his eyes on the floor as he spoke the truth not wanting to. " They believe humans are evil and full of sickness. They blame them for the deaths of many innocent Elves. They don't even see humans as living creators. Many just see them as parasites. But your not! You have as much right to live as we do! I don't approve of this! None of us here do that is why we stand against them. I would rather die in battle beside a good person than a self righteous Purus elf. They have no heart nor do they care for anyone but themselves. They are missing out on wonderful people, good people, kind people." Thorn said as he smiled at Candy and looked at the bags he had picked up for himself. " Come it will take us a while to get our projects done. If you are doing the meal I'll do desert. I plan on making Elven Pastry with some of the berries found around here. It's like some of your wonderful pastries only lighter." He said as he tried to smile and get everyone's mind off what had happen. "Come on Candy lets get started so I can help clean up our mess." He said smiling at her as if nothing bad had happen. It was one of his gifts that made him a good candidate for politics. He could make people forget anything bad happen with his smile and warm approach.

Thorn gently took Candy's hand as he looked around the house and found his way to the kitchen. He gently let go of her hand as he put the bags down on the table. He started taking out everything and sat them out so they knew what they had. He then smiled at Candy. " You said you where my Candy so I have to help you now with everything. You have to let me carry things for you and follow you. Also I get the honor of being by your side." He said to her as he pulled down a large Carrol dish of shorts hoping that it was what she needed to bake her dish in. He just wanted to be helpful to her. He meant what he said he would protect Candy always. She was his Candy after all. He knew Candy didn't understand what he had asked her. But maybe in time she would learn.

Lilly smiled as she laughed hearing Ping. " Don't be silly I could never get board with you. Your different from any other I have met. I love that fact about you. Your refreshing and you don't treat me like everyone else tends to do. Once they figure out who I am they go into servant mode and want to bow and put me on some pedestal. They forget I'm a living being too. I have feelings and needs. I love that you are bold and adventurous. " Lilly said as she thought about what she would want from him. She thought about it for a while before speaking. " Why don't you make us matching friendship bracelets or a necklace for yourself and a bracelet for me. We can wear them to show our friendship." She said and then frowned as she realized that was more of a female thing than a male. "Oh, never mind most males don't like such things do they? I guess whatever you like." She said as she smiled at him. "If you don't mind staying with me a little while longer I can fix us something to eat. I made some sweets earlier and saved my lunch. There is more than enough for the two of us. If you need to head home I understand. " She said not wanting to get him in any trouble. She was use to staying in trouble by now.

Daphne's father smiled and nodded, "I know she's in safe hands when she's with you, We all really appreciate that you want to protect her. Your father has taught you well." he said softly. "You have our word that we will not speak of this to her. We wouldn't want to worry her." he said. his wife nodded and smiled sadly, "We're all pretty worried already, we wouldn't want to add to it in any way dear." she said softly. Tony nodded and smiled as he listened to Thorn speak so passionately about protecting the people, he could tell Thorn would make a great warrior someday. "I'm sure you'll join your brother someday, you're very passionate about this dream. Keep that attitude and keep training for it so that you can reach your dream sooner." their father suggested. It was clear that the elves were wiping out the residents here, it was scary to realize it but it was the truth and something had to be done about it or soon no humans would be around.

Daphne listened to Thorn and frowned, she could tell he was really bothered by what had happened and she was sure everyone would be talking about it tomorrow at school. Everyone was silent as they listened to him speak, how could they think that humans were evil? When they evil ones were the elves who were killing all the humans that they could! She couldn't imagine Thorn dying though, and she did not want to imagine it. What would she do if her friend died? Who would she talk to? She'd have only her family to comfort her. Daphne smiled back at him and nodded, "That sounds delicious! Okay then!" she said cheerfully and walked with him over to the kitchen. She chuckled and nodded happily, "That I did. I appreciate all your help, but I will not force you to help me either." she said and smiled as she looked at all the things they had and started to work on making the lasagna by following her mother's recipe that she had set on the table to read while she worked. "I hope it turns out yummy." she said softly and looked over at Thorn happily. "I'm more than happy to be your Candy you know." she assured.

Her mother sighed softly once they were in the kitchen and sat down on the couch, still shaken. Quickly, her son and husband sat at her sides and held her hands. "Are you okay mother?" Tony asked her softly. "Yes Tony, I'm just worried that Candy will not be wanting to return outside to school tomorrow. She must be frightened, and probably fears attacks now." she explained. "Dear, Candy will be safe, you hear the boy. He said he would protect her." her husband replied. "Besides mother, I can tell that boy really cares about little Daphne and he'll grow up to be a great warrior. They'll both be safe, you don't need to worry so much." Tony said reassuringly to his mother.

"Well that's because you're a person like everyone else. Sure you're of high standard, but you are just like everyone else at heart and that's good to know. You're not like other princesses who would only think of themselves." Lagordir answered softly. He smiled at her words, it was nice to know what she really thought of him and he hoped that it never changed. "Bold and Adventurous?" he repeated and chuckled. "Thank-you, I'm happy that you think that about me." he answered and shook his head softly. He didn't think that bracelets were more female than male. "I don't mind staying longer princess, I enjoy your company." he replied and thought for a bit. He decided on making her a silver heart shaped locket covered in rubies and a matching bracelet just for him. "I hope you like it princess Lilly." Ping said as he continued working hard on the surprise gift for her.

"Tell me how to help?" Thorn asked as he wondered what she needed him to do. Time seemed to pass as they worked before long they had everything done. Thorn blushed as he heard his stomach growling and knew he should be getting home soon. However he was honestly enjoying his time with Candy. " I better be getting home." He said as he looked around knowing that he needed to head home before his parents worried to badly. He wanted to spend some more time with candy however.

Lilly smiled as she laughed hearing what Ping had to say. She smiled as she watched him work. She frowned as she saw the sky started to turn dark. Had the day really slipped away from her already. She knew that they would have to leave soon. She slipped out of the forage while Ping worked. She walked back to the thrown room and came back with two large platters of food for her and Ping to split. She placed the platters on one of the clean tables and lite some of the lights as she waited for Ping to be done.

Daphne smiled and instructed Thorn on how to help her. She was glad that he was there to help because she didn't think that she could do this on her own. When they finished she hugged him, "Thank you very much for your help, I greatly appreciate it." she said. "Mother Pharom is leaving!" she called out. Her mother quickly stood up and walked into the kitchen smiling at them both before preparing a basket with different pies in it that she had made. "Here you go dear, tell your parents we said hello. I'm sure they will like the pies, have some too okay?" she said and smiled. Daphne nodded and walked with him to the front door. "Please be careful, I'll see you at school tomorrow." she said softly.

A year had passed since that day, and Daphne was enjoying a day off from school at the park with Lady, her older brother was there with her to make sure she was okay. Lady was running around, chasing the chew toy that Daphne kept tossing after Lady would continue to bring it back. Their parents were still at home fixing up some snacks to bring to the park for a little picnic. Tony looked over at his sister and smiled as he sat under a tree and watched her, making sure no one got near her.

Ping hadn't noticed how late it had gotten; he was so focused on making the surprise for Lilly. When he finished the locket and the bracelet, he let them sit in some cold water so that they could cool down quickly. Grabbing a rag, he wiped his face with it and looked over at Lilly to see she had brought food. "All done, just letting them cool. Ready to see your gift?" he asked and with a pair of tongs, lifted the locket out of the water and dried it with a clean rag. "Here you go princess, I hope you like it." he said. Ping lifted the bracelet out of the water and dried it before putting it on and joined her to eat.

After a year, Lagordir still talked to Lilly and still made things for her. He really liked her and was always happy to see the smile on her face when he made her things. He was currently on his way to the palace, wondering if Lilly would like to come along with him on his quick trip to Alphiaria. He just wanted to get a few things to make some earrings for her. He had told his parents that he was just going to go visit a friend and play a bit, that he'd be home before it got dark. He had to keep his promise or else his parents wouldn't let him out again, they'd pick him up from school instead of letting him walk alone.

Thorn had grown quiet a bit through the year. He had become increasingly protective of Candy. He had spent his time with her as the days pasted. Of course he was also being trained by the army due to his skills. His mother still had no idea what he was doing in his spare time other than enjoying his time with Candy. He had finished some of his morning training due to the fact he didn't have school today. He was on his way to see Candy when he happen to pause and look in the park. He thought he had heard a familiar bark as he found Candy and Tony in the park. He smiled as he let out a whistle and summoned lady to him. He laughed as she leaped onto him knocking him to the ground. "Good Day my Lady!" he said as he petted her and sat up petting her.

Lilly had grown very fond of Ping as a year past. She enjoyed spending any and all her free time with him. Lilly made sure she completed all her lessons so her father and advisers had nothing object to, when she asked to leave or vanished. Her father was not happy about her vanishing but he couldn't honestly stop her anymore. She seemed to have more friends than he had subjects at this point. They guarded her secrets and wouldn't give her up. He had noticed that she had taken a liking to a strange boy that appeared in the palace now and again. He had found nothing alerting on the boy other than his attraction to Lilly. Lilly strolled through the palace grounds as she hoped she would see Ping again today. She still wore her beautiful bracelet he had made her. She stopped by the rose bushes as she gazed at them hoping that she could spend sometime with Ping. She had completed her task for the day.

"Catch the toy Lady!" Daphne called out as she threw a toy away from where she stood and cheered when Lady easy ran off after it and then brought it back, dropping it at Daphne's feet. Daphne knelt down and gave Lady a treat, petting her gently. "Good Lady! You deserve a treat and a rest. Come now, let's go back to Tony." Daphne said as she picked up the ball and started walking with Lady once she was done towards her brother who was waiting under a tree. Hearing a whistle, Lady barked again and ran off towards the whistle at full speed, tackling Thorn to the ground. "Lady!" Tony called and both he and Daphne ran out to see it was only Thorn. "She seems very happy to see you Thorn." Tony said with a smile. Daphne smiled and nodded, Lady had really grown close to Thorn...he was like family to her.

Lagordir had become really great friends with Lilly over the past year, they spent all their free time together and ate together. He would bring her things every time he traveled, and loved the happy look on her face when she received his small gifts. He knew they weren't much, but it was all he could offer at the moment. He spent hours working on making things, he wanted to be a blacksmith someday and make Lilly the best things he could. He wanted to make her nicer things. Walking down the dirt road, Ping looked around as he headed towards palace in hopes of spending more time again. He had made her a gold rose the night before but never gave it to her, but he planned on giving it to her today if he could. Walking up to the palace, he looked around and walked around through the back since he didn't want to get scolded. He could smell roses and he frowned slightly as he walked into the palace grounds and smiled softly when he saw her. Quietly, he walked over behind her and tapped her shoulder. "Hello again Princess." he said nervously.

Thorn just laughed as he hugged Lady before moving to his feet. He bowed to Tony and Candy as he smiled slowly rising once he was done. He brushed himself off as he smiled at Lady. " I'm always happy to see her. As I am always happy to see you both in good health." He said as he cut his eyes to Tony before his eyes landed on Candy. His smile soften as his eyes lite up gazing at Candy. She had that way with him. She was the one person that was the light of his life. Candy was the one person that Thorn could never live without. He had honestly grown far more attached than he liked to admit. It was apparent to everyone how attached he was to her. The other males in their class knew to keep their eyes and hands away from Candy. And all the girls knew that Thorn only had eyes for candy. He never admitted it to Candy. He wasn't really sure of his own feelings other than he never wanted to be without her. In all honesty she was the reason he was training so hard. He wanted to be able to protect her always. He wanted to make sure she would never have to feel scared again. "I see Thomas lied once again. He said you where going on a date with him to the market." He said staring at Candy. " I am going to have to have a word with him. It's not nice to lie about such things. I was going to ask if you where serious with him. But I can see that he is just dreaming about being with you." He said as he looked to Lady and Tony. " I'm sorry for interrupting your time together. I'll let you go." He said as he looked back to Candy smiling at her. " Maybe later we could go to the library. I think they have the medical books you wanted. " Thorn said hoping to have some time with Candy. He really was going to have a word with the boy who lied about asking Candy on a date. More than likely with his hands.

Lilly jumped startled but quickly recovered as she laughed and smiled happy to see Ping there. " You scared me! Though I'm happy it's you!" She said as she gently wrapped her arms around Ping's neck hugging him happy to see him. She let go reluctantly as she noticed something seemed a bit off with him. " What is wrong? Why are you nervous? " She asked honestly worried. Lilly's smile faded as she stepped back worried that someone had said something to him. " Did someone say something to you? I'll be happy to put them in their place. You are always welcome here you should know that." She said worried that maybe he was tired of being her friend due to the stresses of her life.

Daphne listened to Thorn and smiled. They had grown very close over the past year, though she didn't see him as often as she'd like because he was usually busy training and when he wasn't busy she was with things at home. Any time they could spend together she cherished. Her parents knew how much Thorn seemed to care about her and they approved, Tony was still very iffy about the whole situation. He didn't hate Thorn, he was just very over protective of his sister and didn't want anyone hurting her or toying with her emotions. "Thomas told you he had asked me out on a date?" she repeated and blinked in surprise. "He never did any such thing, I never even talked to him." she commented and frowned. Why would boys always lie to Thorn about stuff like that? What was Thorn going to do? "I'm not serious with him at all Thorn I promise. You know I don't like to talk to the boys in our class." she reminded and nodded. "I'll be sure to go to the library once I let my parents know. I'll see you soon Thorn." she said and waved before putting the leash back on Lady and following Tony back to their house.

Lagordir smiled when Lilly hugged him, she seemed to be very happy to see him. "Nothing is wrong princess, no one has told me anything I promise." he said and smiled nervously. "I uhh...I made you something the night before but I didn't have time to give it to you so I thought I should give it to you today but I don't know if you'll like it." he said and blushed brightly as he held out the golden rose to her and stared down at the ground nervously. He really did hope that she liked it. If not he could make her anything she asked for, he would do anything to make her happy and he hoped that she knew that.

Thorn smiled as he heard Candy as he watched her leave. He loved how innocent she was. Most of the guys wanted her but Candy didn't seem to notice any of their advances witch made Thorn happy. Thorn loved Candy just the way she was. In his eyes she was perfect and any who knew him well enough knew how he felt about her. Thorn watched her vanish from sight as he turned his head knowing that someone had been watching the entire time. He was surprised to see that Thomas was there along with his goons. Thorn had already calculated their moves as the first two goons lunged at him. Thorn easily dispatched them sending them flying through the air screaming in pain. The next three tried to tackle him, however he was to fast and moved out of their way. This allowed the three to run into each other instead. He left them be as he found his true target Thomas himself. The elf was very arrogant and ruthless. He always got what he wanted at any price his family was known for that.

Thorn narrowed his eyes as he glared at Thomas who wore a smirk on his face. The little fool thought he had won this round. Thorn knew what trouble he was getting into by challenging Thomas. However Candy was worth any punishment that would come from this. Thomas was also in training however not many liked him. Many felt he and his family where part of the enemy. Thorn had questioned Thomas motives for Candy. Thomas didn't love her everyone knew that he was incapable of love. He only loved power and wealth. Thorn felt his anger growing as Thomas taunted him talking about the things he would do to Candy. Thomas made it clear that Candy was just a object to him nothing more than nothing less. This enraged Thorn as the two stared at each other. The two tore through the park tearing one another apart. Not even the elders would break the two up. It was easy for anyone to see that this battle had been brewing for sometime.

It was Elvin Law to let men handle their own affairs. The two had been in competition with each other since birth. Thomas had been the one who started the fed always picking and nagging at Thorn. He had made it his life mission to ruin any happiness that Thorn had. It was all because Thomas was a son of ElvenBow however he was not treated as such. Thomas had been full of hatred that his father left him with his mother and married again. He treated Thorn better than Thomas not even claiming Thomas as his son. This had left Thomas full of anger hurt and had corrupted his heart. ElvenBow had never meant to leave Thomas however it was his mother who chose to keep Thomas and to marry another instead of ElvenBow. But she had never told Thomas any of this. She let him grow in anger and cruelty. As the fight progressed Thomas pulled out his knife throwing it nailing Thorn in the shoulder.

Thorn screamed out in pain as he pulled the knife from his shoulder. He stared in horror at Thomas. He had never expected his own brother to go as fair as to try and kill him. Thorn moved just in time as Thomas crashed into the ground where he had been. Thorn had no intention of harming his brother until now. Thorn had enough Candy was the one thing he would fight for even if that was his own brother. Thorn lunged at Thomas landing had powerful left hook witch sent Thomas flying. The impact could be heard loud and clear as Thomas still body laid on the ground as the dust faded. Thorn was the victor and the only one left standing. None of the spectators said a word as Thorn hobbled away from the park. He made his way to Candy's not wanting to go home. He knew his father would be furious and his mother would be as well.

Thorn just didn't want to deal with any family drama at the moment. He needed to process everything that had happen. This was the first time in his life he had ever harmed any of his brothers. He always bowed and let them have their way. But Candy was the one thing he would never share with anyone. He would never allow anyone to harm her not even his own family. Thorn made it to Candy's front steeps where he fell to the ground from the fight and loss of blood. He looked down at his shoulder as he pressed against his wound trying to help it stop bleeding. He was sure he looked like crap Thomas was ruthless and powerful making him a deadly opponent. Thorn knew if Candy saw him she would be worried but he just wanted to spend time with her for now. He didn't want to deal with the fall out from this.

Lilly stared at him not sure if she believed him or not. She could see he was still nervous and worried about his nervousness. Lilly was surprised as she saw Ping present her with a golden rose. Lilly was surprised by the rose as she stared at it in wonder. She gently took it as she stared at the detail in it. Lilly couldn't help but smile as he looked to Ping seeing his slight blush. She gently walked up to him and stood up on her tip toes as she kissed his check gently. She softly took his hand in hers as the kiss faded and she stood beside him. " Thank you Lagordir. You should know I always adore anything you make me. You know you don't have to make me anything. Just getting to spend time with you is the most precious gift you give me." Lilly said as she gently squeezed his hand. "I love it just as I love you. That is why I worry for you so much. You should work on your skills and help the people. You could have a good business. " Lilly said blushing slightly from admitting her true feelings about him. However she was sure he didn't love her the same way she loved him.

Lilly herself wasn't sure when she had fallen in love with Ping. They had grew close and he had made her a better person. He made her want to be the best she could be. Just as she wanted to him to be the best he could be. She just wanted him happy and if being a blacksmith made him happy that is what she wanted for him. "If you like I could come help your mother with dinner tonight. That would free you up sometime to explore or work." Lilly said trying to figure out what to say or do. She was still a little flustered with herself for just openly saying how she felt. Maybe her father was right maybe she was more of a commoner than a princess. But if that meant she could be with Ping she would prefer to be a commoner.
