I have procrastinated making this. January was a busy month for me (and February will be much worse to be honest). But I feel better mentally and not so much like a hermit at the moment so I feel like I am okay enough to post this now!

Today is Super Bowl Sunday. Is it bad that I want neither team to win? GO EAGLES!!!! If only they were in the super bowl!!! Despite that, I'll be visiting my parent's house today with my boyfriend and roommate. They are having a small super bowl party. We aren't staying for the entire thing...will only stay until 8...because I have work in the morning! Hooray! Why couldn't we have off the day after the super bowl, huh?

During January I became kind of...scared to come on menewsha. I don't really know what triggered it. But baby steps! I'm slowly coming back. I spent nearly all day yesterday doing pixels...and I've been doing the same since I got up this morning. So I'm slowly getting my mojo back.

I also finished this application my Principal is having me do...for a Models Arts in Music award for my school. I don't know if I'll stand a chance considering this is my second year at the school and I'm going against people who have been at their school for 20 years! But I finally finished it on Friday! So it is what it is!

This week has been kind of hellish. I am once again sick. I thought I would make it through work yesterday and ended up being sent home at 9:30. I was so feverish I had my huge winter coat on and was still chattering my teeth and shivering LOL. I didn't realize I was feverish - I thought it was just cold inside.

I got to see the Piano Guys in person on Thursday Night. I would have had a better time if I wasn't getting sick during it (I had, at that point, started getting sick)....but I still had a lot of fun. They are a really fun act to see live. They are incredibly talented.

And I loved that my boyfriend and I both had students in the audience (we are both music teachers...I teach elementary music and he teaches high school band/orchestra). One of my cellists in my strings group was there with his family. I had showed my students a video of The Piano Guys: Cello Wars last year....this kid went home, told his mom he wanted to learn cello. So he took lessons all summer and is now in my intermediate group as a 5th grader (usually it's for 6th grade only). He practices every day. And this kid broke his FEMUR the 4th week of school this year (yes you heard me correctly...his femur) and he said "at least it wasn't my hand...because then I couldn't play cello!). I am a proud teacher :)

I am recovering from being sick. My temperature is in the 99's now. It's bouncing between 99.2 and 99.6. So it's slightly elevated but oh well. It's much better than it was before!

My boyfriend brought me strawberry cheesecake icecream today as a get well gesture. It was very nice of him because I loooove strawberry cheesecake icecream :P

I then took a nap in the afternoon because I was really dizzy :( But after that I watched the Lord of the Rings: Return of the King. This movie always makes me cry. Actually...all of the LOTR movies make me cry. LOL I just love the story. I fall in love with it more each time I read the books or watch the movies or listen to the soundtracks. (I'm a bit obsessed with the LOTR and Hobbit soundtracks composed by the talented Howard Shore).

February 9, 2015

So today I went to work...my throat hurts really bad :( And I barely have a speaking voice...but I went to work! I made it through the day. And what a rainy, gross kind of day it is. I need it to be the weekend already....

I called the doctor and told them I was tired of taking antibiotics and we needed to come up with another solution...the fastest they can get me in to see them is February 26th. OTL

So I found out today that my newest project on Donorschoose.org qualifies for assistance from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. They took my $750.00 down to $95!!!! I already have donations that have brought it down further to $50!!! I am so grateful for this help!

So my project for Donorschoose.org got accepted AND funded within 15 hours. I'm so excited!!! And incredibly grateful for all of the support that I receive to help my school program grow!

I've been really sick the past week. Still trying to get over it. Pretty sure it was another sinus infection...yellowish snot and fever and all that jazz. (Gross, I know). And I still can barely breathe through my nose...have sinus headaches...ears are all clogged. Hopefully, when I go to the doctor of the 26th, I will finally get some answers.

Tomorrow is a teacher inservice day (no students). It will be nice to have that little day "off." Even though I have to go to an inservice, I will be able to relax and get work done!

Yesterday was Valentine's Day. My boyfriend and I kept it low-key (since he had to work at Solo and Ensemble for Band until 4). We just went to dinner and cuddled all night <3333 He got me flowers and a card and I got him crumb cake and a card (he loves crumb cake haha).

That's going to be my week this week! I have All-County rehearsals, Kindergarten-First-Second grade rehearsals, Kindergarten-First-Second performance, Talent Show Rehearsals, Disney Chorus Audition Tape, Strings rehearsal, Chorus rehearsal....so I'm just going to be pulling my hair out this week. I am already beyond stressed out. Let's hope everything gets pulled together!

February 20, 2015

So I survived my week from hell...barely. It definitely tried to kill me. Today my All-County Chorus and Strings kids were going to a rehearsal for All-County during the school day at our local performance arena. We are literally a 10 minute walk from the venue and so we always walk instead of taking a bus. Each year the schools take turns playing the Orff instruments at the concert and this year it was our turn.

So my plan was to get a sub for the entire day...drive the Orff instruments over to the venue, unload them, come back, and walk my students to the place.

Well...as I was pushing our Bass Metallophone (pictured above) to my car on it's rolling stand that is supposed to make for easy transport, it fell off the stand and I kind of went flying over it.

So I have a banged up hang, foot, and both knees.

Two teachers saw it happen and so they went and got the nurse. I had to go to the clinic, I had four ice packs on my body. I had to fill out an accident report (although no blood was actually spilled...I just have bruises). I then was told I needed to go take a drug test (standard procedure for if you get hurt at any job really). I told them there was no way in hell I could at that moment because I had to take my kids on this field trip.

So they let me take the kids. When we got back, the kids ate lunch while I supervised them. Then, they went back to class and I drove to go take a drug test. The school told me since I already had a sub for the day, to go take the test and then go home and rest. LOL

So that was the end of my week.

February 28, 2015

So I went back to the ENT Specialist on Thursday. I told him I was really tired of getting sick and equally tired of taking antibiotics. I had taken 5 rounds since September. Plus Steroids. And nose spray. I can't stay healthy.

Well the doctor confirmed I was, once again, ill with a sinus infection. And it's starting to migrate to my chest which is not good. (Had bronchitis from this back in like November...don't want to repeat that).

Anyway, I mentioned that I was afraid it might be the school building that is causing this and he said that the schools here are some of the worst in terms of mold.

He told me he wants me to try a new nose spray - apparently it is both a steroid AND an antihistamine. In addition...he wants me to take TWO MORE ROUNDS of antibiotics...take one...wait five days...take the next. And he wants me back in a month for a CAT scan of my sinuses.

He said we may need to look into surgical options for dealing with the sinuses.

Overall, I'm just highly depressed about all this.

March 21, 2015,

Today is my daddy's birthday :) I'll be going down to my parent's house today. It's the first day of Spring Break for me. They are going out of town a couple days to celebrate his birthday and I'm going to house sit for them! I get to play with the cats :D I'm so excited! LOL

I've been working out a lot. I joined a gym in November to try to get healthy because I keep getting sick. And I've been going 5-6 times a week to work out. Some days are just cardio and other days are weights, machines, etc and cardio. I'm just proud of myself because I've never been athletic in the slightest.

March 22, 2015,

Yesterday was my dad's birthday. So my mom and I, as a surprise, took apart his salt-water aquarium, cleaned it, bought all new rocks and sand, put it back together. He hurt his back a while ago and hasn't had time to properly clean it and it was getting really gross....LOTS of algae D: Hopefully it will stay clean this time. But damn - it took a LONG time to clean it...and my mom and I are both sore today LOL Lifting the huge jugs of new salt water (we don't know the proper way to make it like my dad does...so we just bought it from the store...was easier for us), lifting the actual aquarium, the big box of rocks, sand, etc...that was quite the workout HAHA!

March 27, 2015

So...roomie and I have been battling roaches since we moved into our apartment. We have only 2 months left on our lease and we are definitely NOT renewing it. Lately we've had a LOT of roaches...the past few days we've had 3 big, german roaches, at least 5 smaller american roaches, and a couple palmetto bugs. Whenever we tell the office of our complex, they insist that it's just palmetto bugs and that EVERYONE in Florida gets them...it's normal. First of all, we know what a palmetto is. While we get them occasionally, we also get german AND american roaches. In addition...a palmetto is classified as a TYPE OF ROACH. So Idon't want to hear that "everyone gets them." Their lease agreement says they are in charge of dealing with roaches...and so far they have really sucked at it.

Today, roomie had a huge german roach in her room. After it was killed...she put it in a bag and TOOK it the office. She put it on the desk of the manager who keeps insisting it's just palmettos...they said they would send someone out today. So a guy came out with like...the same shitty chemicals they've been spraying since we got here. It they haven't worked in 8 months...they aren't going to freaking work now.

I feel so stressed out just WALKING into my apartment. Like I physically tense up. I get really anxious, nervous, scared. I HATE roaches. I told them this before we moved in. I said if there are no bugs, everything will be great. But if there are, I will be in there office constantly. But no matter how many times we go there about this, NOTHING gets fixed. They refuse to let us move to a different apartment in the complex without having to pay a full months rent in addition to what we already pay just a few to move rooms.

I haven't slept well in weeks because I'm so anxious and stressed about this. I will sleep for about ten minutes and wake up. I'll stay awake for 5 minutes and then just repeat.

I don't know how I can deal with this for two more months. I'm so tired and stressed all the time. OTL

April 3, 2015

We are moving at the end of May when our lease is up. When we do, my boyfriend will me moving in with us. So he and I will share a room and my current roommate will have the other room.

We are going to use his bed since it's a queen sized bed and mine is a full. Poor guy is 6 foot, 4 inches tall. He can't fit onto my bed all the way - his ankles and feet hang off the end of mine lmao. So we're going to store my bed at my parent's house until we need it again (I want to keep it for future children eventually).

So I bought sheets and a comforter for HIS bed. He's a boy and has only a fitted sheet - doesn't even have a blanket XD Told me if he could, he'd just not bother with the fitted sheet and sleep on the mattress because he doesn't really care LMAO. So I asked if he minded if I got some sheets/comforter for his bed and he didn't mind XD

So this is the one I bought:

It is reversible. We'll be using the first picture though - the side with the blue diamond-ish pattern. I really like this one and don't think it's TOO girly :P

so last Thursday I went to the ear nose and throat doctor for a checkup. he wanted to do a cat scan of my sinuses in order to see if the medication and nose spray was working. my sinuses apparently are pretty clear however my nose is still stopped up due to some inflammation.. So he would like for me to continue the nose spray.he even brought my attention to a great spot in the back sinus cavity where the pituitary gland should be. he said it looked rather enlarged that it should not be anywhere near the sinus like that... That it was like in the sinus cavity rather than a separate part of it. he said he wanted to consult a radiologist in order to determine whether or not this truly was an enlarged pituitary gland. he said he would call me back on Monday. well on Monday he did not call me back so I decided to wait until Tuesday maybe he was running late. and I did get a call on Tuesday. luckily it is not enlarged. I was freaking out all weekend because I had looked up what caused an enlarged pituitary gland... And it would have been a tumor. I am very lucky that this is not the case.

Woke up at 3 AM (an hour ago) to find another huge roach in my bedroom. At least this one was on the floor and not the ceiling or wall which makes it a bit easier to spray. I'm itching all over the place though from spraying the damn thing and then the fan is on spreading it around my room. I am allergic to the bug spray. OTL But I'd rather use the bug spray and kill the bugs than not at all.

I can't wait to move out. We have ONE MONTH LEFT on our lease and we are moving out after that. I am going to leave the worst reviews for this damn apartment all over the apartment review sites. This is the most disgusting place...roaches all the time. And the stupid people who work in the office claiming "it's just palmettos ... there is nothing we can do." First of all...palmettos are a type of roach. Their lease covers all types of roaches...so they legally HAVE to do something. But besides that, yes we get palmettos. But we get german roaches and american roaches all the time as well. The management can kiss my butt. I should call the health department when I move out as well.

I'm so disgusted that I can't sleep.

Which is great because it's only Tuesday and I have to work the rest of the week and if I can't sleep.....work is going to really suck.

So today i found out that the Principal at my school wants to make all the activity teavhers teach at least a half hour of math or reading next year. I think its complete bullshit. I am not certified for that. I am certified to teach music. And if they try to make us do this i am going to be forced to pay the money to get certified in elementary education general and i will not do that. I would rather look for a new job. We went in to make a request that we have planning in the afternoon next year instead of the morning bc it is hard to do after school clubs when i dont have afternoon planning. In addition we have sixth grade last at the moment and they are dismissed from our room to leave. Because of that they are ten minutes late everyday because they have to pack up their stuff and we have to let them go five minutes early because of dismissal procedures which means my forty minute class is really twenty five minutes. When we went in their to request this we were told that our request was pretty much impossible and then told about the math and reading stuff. I feel like thwy think it is okay to screw us over...we are just the normal teavhers break during the day and we have no real value. I dont like that they make us feel this way.

Well it's been a busy month - we are winding down to the end of the year. My end of the year concert was Thursday night. It went really well :) I am proud of my students. I am moving to a new apartment complex today. Woohoo!

Anyway - I found out that the chorus job at my old middle school has opened up. That was my dream job when I was in school. Everyone I know is telling me to at least apply for it.

I love my current job. I don't know what I would do. But I spent last night debating whether or not to at least apply...and decided to at least try. I hope my Principal understands. D: I don't want to lose my current job! D:

Well, I turned 26 on May 31st....I can't believe I'm so old. Holy hell - I joined Menewsha when I was 18....damn.

Anyway - my parents made me spaghetti (my dad's recipe for the sauce is the best) and got me a cheesecake from Longhorn :)

Tomorrow I take my chorus kids on a field trip to Disney - I'm really nervous about it - it's my first major field trip with my kids!

June 3, 2014

I took my chorus to perform at Disney yesterday. When I got to school, it was like a monsoon...it was raining SO hard. I was thinking of cancelling the trip...but I looked up the weather and it was HUGE storm that had almost all the way moved off the coast so I ended up not cancelling...by 9:00 A.M. it had cleared up.

We went to Epcot first...we were walked in the back entrance and didn't need a ticket (perk of performing at Disney...you get in for free!). The kids got to split into groups and go on whatever rides they wanted to do.

Then we met at the front entrance and bused to Downtown Disney to warm up at their warm up facility. Once the kids were warmed up and they were changed into their uniforms, we spent a while actually getting TO the stage.

When we were performing, it started the drizzle rain but it never got heavy. The kids did an amazing job even with 15 of them not there! I had one girl step up to do a solo last minute since a girl who originally had the solo didn't show up for the trip (even though she told me she was going >.<). She did a great job. I'm a proud music teacher :)

We also got this really cool Mickey Mouse trophy to display at school!

Overall - I survived bringing my kids on their first MAJOR field trip. I'm happy it went well and I am happy it is done LOL

June 13, 2015,

Well I didn't get the job that I had applied for. The AP who was in charge of the hiring for it called me the other day and said, "We loved you. You had a great interview. You are a wonderful chorus teacher and have great ideas! I'd like to forward your resume on to the other middle school in this area that is hiring if you would like me to because I've recommended they hire you there."

Unfortunately I think the school I applied to went with a lady who is friends with the outgoing chorus teacher. The outgoing chorus teacher, when I first asked if they were still looking to fill the position, told me that it was already filled. Then I found out she lied and they were still doing interviews. But I think they went with that friend due to the outgoing chorus teacher's pushing. Guess I didn't have the right connection.

Which sucks, because the AP kept reiterating that I was a great teacher and he would have loved to have me blah blah blah...and they hired this "Friend" of the outgoing teach instead who is a band/orchestra teacher...not a chorus teacher...all because of a connection.

I told the AP, "Thank you very much BUT if I didn't get this job I wanted to stay at my current school." So that is is that. I will remain at my school for now :)
