January 23rd - hey hey! The dance performance was a huge success!! I am so happy! And that was also my first ever dance performance, too! There is a first time for everything, I guess :) there were some technical difficulties in the beginning due to the audio not working and then lots of feedback from microphones that were accidentally left on, but we adapted super well to the situation. And in fact, because of the technical difficulties in the beginning, we were even less nervous for the dancing when the music finally started working again, haha. So hooray!

For one of our dances, we wore hats that looked like this:

January 23rd continued - I am so prepared for the next apocalypse! Just kidding... but I did find a huge surplus of stuff while trying to figure out what to do next in terms of my cleaning and decluttering, which I have been documenting in my journal here: Salvete's Cleaning + Decluttering Journal [Open to Posting!]

I have a basket full of brand new toothbrushes, dozens of new bottles of shampoo and body wash, toothpaste, and even brand new still in the package razors with replacement razor blades. I also have two large packs of bottled water and a lot of canned tuna. Oh, and six packages of white sugar, I guess in the event of someone having a sweet tooth and craving sugar.

I have a story about today! I wrote most it up here: http://www.menewsha.com/forum/commun...53-snowed.html so I will also paste it here in quotes.

Quote:
there was a 72 year old man today who approached me and proceeded to tell me about his travels and living with native americans in North Dakota and visiting the Mennonites and Amish and how his father was in world war II and how he knew Spanish, Portuguese, Cantonese, German, French, Italian ... amazing!

Honestly -- I'm sorry to say this -- but at first I was a little suspicious. It's not everyday that a complete stranger suddenly walks up to you to have a long conversation, he started asking me questions like where I lived, and he didn't look his age (I actually thought he was in his late 30s -- not very wrinkly, no white or grey hair in sight -- until he told me he was 72 years old).

But when I told him I wouldn't be comfortable sharing that information (like where I live and things like that), he started just sharing a lot of information and stories about himself. He turned out to be a very nice and interesting fellow. And when I told him that I also learned Spanish, he began telling me some stories in Spanish too! That was cool. And he told me that his father was half black and half native American, while his mother was from...I forget the name, but I think a town somewhere between France and Spain! So pretty uniquely multiracial.

He was also telling me how when he started school, he didn't know any English -- because he spoke French and Italian at home (his parents were both multilingual) -- and so they put him in a special needs class. Of course, his parents had to go to the school to explain that he was not special needs -- he just did not know English yet. He ended up majoring in French in college, and he has a son.

Oh! And he was just coming from a vegan Chinese restaurant *nods* he was saying some things in Cantonese, weaved into his English, while he was explaining some concepts of chi as practiced in Hinduism and Buddhism

February 4th - It's been a long while since I posted in here. I guess I have just been busy doing other things. And I suppose exciting or fun things did happen, but I did not think to document them. I am currently taking a break and eating lunch. Afterward, I will wash the dishes and pack to get ready to go home for the weekend tomorrow.

I sometimes wonder whether I take on too much responsibility. I'm just super proactive about everything and worry that I spread myself too thin sometimes. For example, I am on the executive board of multiple organizations, planning to join a research project soon in an area that I am interested in, plus all of the studying I have to do and, honestly, also catch up on. There are only so many hours in a day and so many days in a week and so many weeks in the year...but I think it will all be worth it in the end. At least, I hope so. And the reason I am involved in so many things is because I love it. I really do enjoy it. But work hard, play hard is my motto so I need to make sure I am working, that is, studying, hard enough while still enjoying the other things I do.

February 10th - and again, almost a week passes before I remember that I have a memory jar in which I should be posting about my daily life. Silly Salvete!

Well yesterday night, I stayed at a friend's place until the wee hours of the morning. This is what happens when my friends are bad influences!! *shakes fists* haha I am joking but I do love them as fun friends to hang out with. But I am going to try to avoid hanging out with them again for a while because I really do need to catch up on a ton of work that I have been slowly getting done but not at a good enough pace.

I had planned to study over at a different friend's place but he was out getting food or something so I ended up visiting these other friends who live nearby. And of course, I got almost no work done as a result. We started talking a lot, then baked some things to eat, then talked more, watched videos, played music, got food for dinner, talked more, listened to more music, hummed and sang and tried to rap...yes we got a little carried away with it. And I promised myself silently at the end of the night that I would have fun that night but then focus on work work work after. Work hard, play hard, not the other way around! But if it does happen the other way around, I better make sure the working hard does happen before the next playing hard does.

Monday, February 8, 2016 - My favorite 2015 CI

It's hard to just choose one CI from 2015.

The cutest CIs from 2015 have to be Pester Kitties and Hawt Diggity Dawg. I love both cats and dogs, and all things cute. So Pester Kitties and Hawt Diggity Dawg are a perfect pair in my eyes. <3 The only thing preventing them from being the end all, be all, favorite 2015 CI is the fact that I don't use them all that often. They are super duper cute, but their long bodies are quite overpowering for the average outfit.

Year of the Warm Fuzzies is also extremely adorable. In fact, I would count this one as tied in the cutest CI category along with Pester Kitties and Hawt Diggity Dawg. And the horn poses are magnificent!

Birthday Celebrations is wonderful. I have used the rainbow confetti before in one of my all-time favorite avatars.

The award for most realistic CI goes to Office Life.

The Dusty Dreamer wins the award for the CI from 2015 that I have used the most.

Angelic Blessing wins the award for the most beautiful.

Lil Red and Big Meanie, Opera House, Rugged Hunter, Super Powers to the Max!, and Lunar Boat win the award for CIs I don't have but really want from 2015.
