NEW CHAPTER!

Chapter 2: Mistakes That Ruin Your Day

"Here it is!” Jasper said excitedly. He started to dig in the pocket of his tight jeans and eventually pulled out a bright pink key. He pushed it into the other boy's hand. "So do you have more stuff coming or what? That's not much." He tugged his little stripped zip-up sweater down on his abdomen. You could still see a few patches of skin on his hips despite his efforts to cover it up.

"No," the green-eyed boy replied. "Just this. Why?"

The red head swayed his scull from side to side, as if it were a way to help him think better. "Just wondering. But you don't have a bed. Where are you going to sleep tonight?"

"On the floor I suppose. I have a sleeping bag and everything. I figured I'd go shopping for actual furniture tomorrow. I have money."

"Oh, okay." The boy nodded. "You can stay at my place tonight if you want. I have an extra bed."

"No, I'll be fine. I'm gonna settle in though." He slid the key into the slot and turned it. He opened the door.

"Well--" Jasper said nervously. "If you need anything just give me a ring." He reached into his skin-tight pants pocket and pulled out a business card. "My cell number and stuff is on there. If you can't reach me or if you don't want to call then you can just buzz me."

"Okay, thanks." He watched as Jasper slowly turned and stepped forward slightly. He could tell that Jasper wasn't ready to go back home, though he wasn't sure why this was. He cleared his throat. "Jasper?"

The red head turned around with much fervor. "Yes?"

"Do you want to come in for a little while?" He asked, flicking some of his dark hair out of his face.

"I'd love to!" Jasper half screamed. He trounced into the apartment, following close behind its new renter.

The green-eyed boy set his bag down on the floor. He looked at the other boy, who was practically bouncing with excitement. He, of course, had no idea why.

"So where are you from?" The red head asked.

"Seattle, Washington. I moved here for school. NYU has always been the school I wanted to attend."

"Oh, I see. Very cool." Jasper thought a moment. "So you are gay, right?"

The dark-haired boy shook his head. "No, of course not. I actually hate gay people. That's why I moved to Greenwich Village. I thought I'd move to the area of New York with the most queers just for kicks."

"What?!" Jasper's eyes were wide.

"That was sarcasm," the other boy assured him.

"Oh good." Jasper was relieved. He thought for a few more moments. "What's your name? I never asked. I'm sorry." A soft chuckle filled the room, warming it slightly. The laugh was familiar to the boy with green eyes, but he had no idea why.

The other boy shook his head to get the laughter out of it. When he stopped his eyes met the other boy's. "My name is Dice."

"What's your real name, Mr. Dice?" Jasper asked, planting his small hands on his angular hips.

"Dice," he said in staccato. "My name is really Dice, Dice Calloway."

"Oh--" The red head looked upset. He crinkled his nose and scratched his head. "You seem upset. What's wrong?"

Dice turned away from the other boy. "Nothing. It just pisses me off when people don't believe a word I say. It's really frustrating, especially since I rarely lie. Not to mention the fact that I'm incredibly stressed out because of school and all. Just never mind."

The landlord stepped closer to the frustrated boy and placed a hand on his shoulder. "You know, I could help you relax a bit. I've always been good at relaxing cute boys." His voice was suggesting something that would have never crossed Dice's mind.

"What are you doing?!" He threw Jasper's hand off his shoulder and turned around swiftly. "Get out of my apartment! I don't need this! Do you flirt with all of your tenants? I'm disgusted."

"Do you have a boyfriend or something?"

"You ask as if it's any of your business. Well it's not. Now get out." Dice's shaking hand was pointing towards the metal door. He didn't want to be in the vicinity of his landlord, and he especially didn't want to see him.

"Okay, fine. I'm leaving." Jasper was upset. He knew that he had messed up, which was the last thing he wanted. He was very intrigued with his new renter and he was very curious about him. He wanted to know what he was like, who he was, but most of all he wanted to hear of his past. He could tell by just looking into the boy's green eyes that something was eating him alive. He wanted to understand it, to help him through. He wanted to make him feel at home, but he had ruined it. In one false move he had thrown all of his chances away.

T-T Poor Jasper! What will he do?
