tempura asparagus is so good, i have to learn how to make that myself. tempura mango sounds like tempting God, that's too good to be true

I'm now just sitting at my desk at work trying to figure out stuff i can grow and turn into tempura

sweet potatoes are really good in tempura. most root veggies are. i really like carrots, purple yam, and taro too.

Tempura sweet potato are my favorite.

We made tempura sweet potatoes earlier this year they are surprisingly easy to cook

did you have to fry them in oil? that's what i'm the most scared of because i always manage to burn myself or the pan.

We did fry them in oil. It's good to cut the sweet potato at an angle so they are as long as possible, helps keep the fingers away then use something to flip and pull them out with a decent length handle.

good advice, thank you! i'll keep an eye out for extra long potatoes, Trader Joes ones are usually really long and skinny.

Sweet potatoes should be longer. At least most of the ones i have seen are usually extra long compared to regular potatoes

but not quite as long as some Cassava roots

I actually had a big argument with my stepmother over Christmas about a similar thing. She insisted yams and sweet potatoes are the same thing. No, they're not!

I think a lot of people confuse yams with sweet potatoes. They're not the same thing. Dx
But it's become so normal to just call yams, sweet potatoes because they're sweet.

this convo also reminds me of how in certain FB groups a lot of people would say "i [yam emoji]" to mean "i am" and it confused so many people that the whole group was just flooded with "WHAT THE HELL DOES THE YAM EMOJI MEAN???" posts
