The Story

The is a sort of A/U world. It's very dark and a little sci-fi/futuristic, but not too much. There is a war going on and the government of the nation we'll be rping in is desperate for good soldiers. And so a secret organization was created; a group of scientists that are to kidnap people off the street to experiment on. The experiment is to combine humans with animal DNA to make the perfect soldiers. They are sure to only kidnap people rejected by society, who won't be missed or cared about if they disappeared. Lots of people have been kidnapped and experimented on, and most of them died. But a few survived. This is the story about those people that survived the experiments and are now infused with animal DNA and the abilities they give. What will they do with their lives now?

(The story will start out with everyone in the underground lab/prison thing. We can break out from there and who knows what lies ahead after that. The possibilities are endless.)

The Character Skeleton

Name: (Can be unknown or even a code-name. Just simple first, middle, last, and nicknames are fine too.)
Gender: (Male or female. Unknowns and multi-gendereds can work too if you want.)
Age: (Anything goes within human limits. Have fun.)
Bio: (Sort of a combo of personality and background. Don't make it too long, and be sure to leave some stuff out so that we can figure out everyone's pasts over time, instead of right up front. Just real general stuff, you know.)
Animal Combined With: (The animal your character was combined with. Make sure it's not something already picked.)
Animal Abilities: (What your character can do now that's special. Heightened senses and such.)
Animal Setbacks: (Some cons about being combined with the animal you were combined with.)
Picture: (A pic of your character and what they look like. Some people have more obvious animalistic features than others, so it's okay to be diverse. So in other words, some people may look more human than animal, and some people may look more animal than human. It all depends on how their DNA merged; everyone is different.)
Appearance: (Even though there's a picture, describe your character's appearance a bit and add in/take out/edit things in the picture if you want. It's good to explain some things too.)
Other: (Anything else you'd like to add.)
Played By: (Your username.)

Bio: Seth was born an orphan and raised in foster care for most of his life. He's been in one orphanage and five foster homes since birth. He's always been a pretty mellow guy who just goes with the flow. He rarely gets emotional over things and always seems to know how to keep his cool. Once he turned eighteen, he began living in the city on his own. During war time, it wasn't easy, but he made it for a year. However, since he was all alone, no one really knew him or cared for him, and that made him an easy target for the government to kidnap him.
Animal Combined With: Gray Wolf (Canis Lupus)
Animal Abilities: He has the ability to both suppress his animal instincts and let them loose (unless extremely angry or upset, in which he might lose control completely). When he lets them loose, which the scientists call feral mode, his teeth grow and become more like a wolf, his nails grow and become thick and sharp, and his eyes turn wild; feral. He will rarely ever become cold, even in extremely cold temperatures, and seems to prefer it colder. His sense of smell and sound have both increased dramatically. His stamina is great and can run fairly fast for longer periods of time without getting tired.
Animal Setbacks: Won't do well in extremely hot weather. Has almost an impulse to chase small critters or animals. When he sees blood, he seems to get an adrenaline rush and impulse for more blood.
Picture:

Appearance: Has naturally toned skin. His hair used to be black, but has turned gray due to the experiment. He also used to have dark brown eyes, which are now yellow due to the experiment. He does not have wolf ears or tail and typically resembles a human when not in feral mode.
Other: Theme song would be Fresh Blood by Eels.

Bio: Not too much is known by the fox-human hybrid known as "Lucille". She's more of a heavy amnesiac -- her last memory was being kidnapped and shoved in a van where she hit her head quite severely. Everything before that time is completely gone for Lucille. She spent about one year in the facility, and all the tests that were run on her ended up making her traumatized and a selective mute. Lucille is a shy and quiet person who acts slightly emotionless (for the most part). However, she's not timid and is very caring. She will go out of her way to help those who she's seen are also kept in the facility.
Animal Combined With: Red fox (Vulpes vulpes)
Animal Abilities: Increased sense of smell, sight, and direction. Can run extremely fast.
Animal Setbacks: Needs to sleep for at least 9 hours, and no less. Cannot consume much -- can get horribly ill. Is a selective mute.
Picture:
Appearance: Silky, shoulder length red-brown hair and fur; fox ears and tail due to genetic alterations; short stature at 5'2" -- height stunted by genetic alterations; Thin at about 105 lbs due to lack of ability to eat enough;
Other: Hobbies and such are unknown and to be discovered.

Her parents had died shielding her from the danger. Once the government was able to get in to help the wounded, they found her and brought her to the labs. The experiment done to her didn't go as planned but was a success non-the-less. She is now no longer recieving experiments but they are still watching her and pushing her to use, adapt, and increase her abilities.
Animal Combined With: mammal type of fish
Animal Abilities: She's an excellent swimmer, can stay under water for 20 minutes before coming up for air. can hear things better under water
Animal Setbacks: Can only stay under water for 20 minutes. can only have human legs for an hour (yes she has the ability to change her fin into legs)

Appearance: has long dark brown/black hair, fish-like ears, a fin as her bottom half, she's able to change her fin into human legs for an hour but then has to wait about a day to change them again.

Out of attachment to the person he was found by, Ludwig accepted the experiments even though he hated them. He is usually quiet and does not speak much, and his later fusion with several snake DNAs only strengthened that trait.
Animal Combined With: Snakes
Animal Abilities: Has scales over his skin that makes him slightly resistant to physical attacks, heightened sense of smell (including the ability to smell with his tongue), heightened strength, and a very venomous bite via sharp teeth, as well as the ability to spit out poison at others. He can control whether or not to inject poison into his bites, though when aggravated that doesn't always work. He also has heat sensors.
Animal Setbacks: Has bad eyesight, and basically crippled when stuck in cold weathers. When hungry, he has a hard time controlling the instincts to bite at everything that's relatively 'food-sized', which unfortunately includes adult-humans. Also needs to hibernate when living in areas with cooler climates.

Appearance: Lean and of average height, with pale, pale blond hair mixed with a few strings of black, brown, and white. Has scales of different sizes and color covering 90% of his body, eyes are amber-colored and slitted, and a sharp tongue like that of a lizard's.
Other: Hates eating fruit and vegetables.

Animal Combined With: Cheetah
Animal Abilities: Heightened sense of sight, smell and hearing. His speed is extraordinary and he is capable of outrunning any who chase him, and catching those whom he chases. Has heightened reflexes, increased metabolism, and an increase of strength. His nails are also wicked sharp along with his sharper teeth.
Animal Setbacks: Incapable of swimming and must eat much more then he use too. His claws are not retractable, as the cheetahs are not either. Also not able to consume to many greens.

Bio: Because of a fever that she got when she was around two, she is deaf, unable to hear, and therefore speak, at least words other than mama, papa, sippy, etc. You know, the words a two year old would know. This set her back on her social development by a huge degree. She didn't start school until she was nine because there was no way to talk to her without her parents around. It took them years to teach her reading, and then even more years went by before she knew a similar vocabulary to an average third-grader, and could go to school.
When she was ten, the government offered to try and develop hearing aids that would let her hear, as well as teach her how to read lips, so long as she preformed a simple experiment for her. She's been gone for two years now, and her parents are beginning to worry about their baby girl.
Animal Combined With: Bee Hummingbird
Animal Abilities: Her wings allow her flight and hovering ability, and she's also incredibly fast, almost too fast for regular humans to see. Her fingernails and toenails are also rather sharp, like a beak, so she can deal some serious puncture wounds with them. Strangely enough though, she can retract her wings so that they aren't a bother. Her heart rate and metabolism are also off the charts. Her resting heart rate is about 872 beats per minute, and she needs to consume at least 3500 calories a day.
Animal Setbacks: Tiny size due to growth defect and animal DNA inhibits power. Flying requires a lot of energy, and she also has increased timidity from being fused with such a small animal. While not a real setback caused by her powers, she's also deaf, and therefore mute because she doesn't know how to speak. The only person that can talk to her is Dani, who looks out for her like an older sister. Unfortunately the experimentation process also ruined her bladder and weakened her bowels, so she now has significant trouble with potty training, much to her embarrassment.
Picture:
Appearance: Choko is a tiny little thing. Even when she was a baby, the doctors worried about how small she was. It was almost unnatural. She stands at about 3'4” and weighs only 27 pounds, the weight having something to do with her animal DNA. Her hair is iridescent, and has gained stripes of various colors all throughout it, making it appear as a jewel.
Other: Cho, unfortunately, can't communicate with anyone as of right now. No one knows how to read sign language, and she can't speak.

Animal combined with: Eagle
Animal abilities: Obviously Aletta can fly. She also has better sight than most humans. She's stealthier and faster. Her wings are very strong.
Animal setbacks: Her wings are huge and bulky even when folded. She can only eat meat, supplemented by a few berries. Aletta can't fly indefinately, her shoulder muscles tire after a few hours. She is also vulnerable to extreme cold.

Appearence: Before the experiments her hair was dark brown. Now it is gold fading into dark brown. Her wings are a rich dark brown with gold primary and secondary feathers. Her eye colour has changed too. They used to be dark brown but are now burnished gold.
She also more commonly wears a brown tracksuit in the lab.
Other: Aletta's clothes are specially made to accomodate her wings. She has a wingspan of 14 feet.

It was dark. And it smelled of sulfur. Or smoke maybe. Or something similar to it anyway. Odd sounds were around him, everywhere. Sounds of things he'd never heard before, and of what sounded like strange animals and tools. There was a light in the center of the room, on the ceiling. It kept flickering as if the electricity in the room was bad. But it provided just enough light to start to see at least, as his eyes began to adjust.

Seth looked around him as he found himself coming to with his back against a cold, stone wall. He lifted his head up from its hanged position, trying to take in his surroundings. From what it seemed, he was in a prison of some sort. A very large prison with rusty iron bars on three sides and a stone wall to the rear. And he wasn't alone the rather large cell were other people too. Or at least... what he thought were people.

Strange shapes and figures were spread about the space they shared in the dark dungeon of a room, and it made his insides squirm a bit. It took a lot to get someone like Seth on-edge, but even as drugged-up as he had been from what little he could remember, he could honestly say that this did not look good for him.

He was drowsy and tired and sore, but he finally managed wobble his way to a standing position, his hand supporting him on the stone wall. "Hey." He said rather weakly to no one in particular. He instantly put a hand to his head. "Where... am I?"

Waking from a druggy slumber, Lucille yawned and got on her knees, shaking her head vigorously in an attempt to wake herself up. She just had a number of tests done the day before, and many of the injuries she received were not healing well due to them being so deep. The blood had dried enough, and there wouldn't be any scars, but it was painful. Looking around her, Lucille could see that she had suddenly been stuck in a cell with other animas, which were her term for any human genetically modified to be animal-like.

Then, Lucille caught a glimpse of a boy standing up looking completely distraught and somewhat spaced-out. She stared for a while with a blank expression on her face, tilting her head this way and that. He looks human... the fox hybrid thought, scratching her ears. Quietly, she stood up and tried to hobble over to the boy, but her legs gave out as she felt a stab of pain bolt up her spine -- stupid tests.

Lucille tried to think of something to do -- she was well aware that her voice didn't quite work anymore, and communicating was nearly impossible. Hopefully, the boy was intelligent enough to play charades with the girl. All she wanted to do was explain what was going on; then, she could just go about the day as usual -- ignoring everyone, going for examinations every hour. Quickly, she waved her arms in front of her, trying to get his attention. Pointing to her ears, she mouthed, "But I'm human, too", hoping that he could figure something out.

Seth scanned the area, his newly enhanced yellow eyes almost glowing in the darkness. They picked up on the first movement detected, darting over to a smaller figure that seemed to be waving arms at him. Seth stayed there, frozen, as he studied the figure. It looked... like a girl. With fox ears and a tail. He let out a sigh. "Now I know I'm dreaming..." He said to himself, still supporting himself on the wall.

But still he looked to her as directed, and if he didn't know any better, he thought she just mouthed the words "But I'm human too". That, or "But I'm you motu". He decided to go with his first choice. If anything else, he got human out of it. So she was human, then? Could she not talk? And did that mean that all of these other things were human too? Now that he looked, some of them really did look human. He stuck his free hand out, examining it. He was human... right?

Unlike some of the experiments, this was all very new to Seth. The last thing he remembered was walking down street, going back to the warehouse he'd been staying at. It had been night with a full moon and dim back-street street lights lighting the way. It was in a rather shady part of the city, sure, but he'd never had too much trouble before. Nothing he couldn't either talk off, fight off, or run from anyway. Apparently he'd vastly underestimated the area...

Being the 'adopted son' of one of the scientists had its perks, Ludwig thought as he pressed his face against the one-way glass from within the observation room. He wasn't constantly locked up in a cell room, though sometimes he was confined to a windowless room when the lab-coats wanted to observe something they'd tested him on. But when he wasn't busy being a lab rat, he could wander around the institution as long as he didn't try to leave.

However, he knew that the special treatment would likely end pretty soon. The lab-coats had been eying him with stranger and stranger looks lately, after his caretaker had been killed by one of the specimens. The man had been checking up on one of the hybrids, something that was probably ape or gorilla, and the creature had managed to stick a hand out from behind the bars, and snapped his neck. Ludwig knew that the others were probably itching to get their hands on him to do some more 'innovative' programs, as it wasn't often that they had a successful hybrid with a reptile.

The glass panel was cool and rather uncomfortable on his scales. While he was still mostly warm-blooded, the cold affected him greatly, often to the point of immobilizing him when the temperature got too low. Unfortunately, the scientists liked to keep the central air conditioning system set to 22 degrees Celcius or lower. Therefore, Ludwig had taken to constantly wearing two coats and gloves, sometimes a hat, and a scarf wrapped around his neck. From what he could see through the glass, he could make out a few specimens curled up in their cells and a few of the more violent or unstable ones chained. Squinting, he could make out the blurry movements of one of the specimens, with reddish colored hair and what seemed to be ears poking out from the head, attempting to get up, but failing and collapsing back onto the ground. She then waved her arms around. Ludwig wondered what she was trying to do.

Luna sat on the edge of the rather large water tank that was built specifically for her. That was the only thing that made her room different from the others. Stone flooring, being supported by beams in the water, came out half way over the water with stone walls on both sides. The entry into the room was the same rusty bars that everyone else had. On the other side was a thick glass casing. The walk way to the rest of the dungeons was on the side of the glass case, making the entry to her room on the upper level.
The girl sighed, looking into the water. She longed to have a normal life, the one that she lost 13 years ago. She picked up a nearby brush and started to run it through her hair. After a few minutes, she heard footsteps walking towards the area of her cell. The girl slid off the edge and into the water as quickly as possible. She swam under the floor and hid in the darkness, waiting to see what will happen. This was the usual reaction she had when any even walked by her cell. She knew they had stopped experimenting on her, but old habbits don't die easily. The door opened and footsteps walked over to the edge.
"Luna, it's time for your training. come on out," said the owner of the footsteps above her. She swam out from under neath, poking just her eyes out of the water as she looked to see who it was. Upon realizing, she reached onto the edge and pulled herself out. Then the man that stood there waiting, picked her up and walked out into the training area.
This particular training area looked somewhat like a physical therapy room and had been the place she was taken to every day for the past three months. They had been retraining her how to walk, which made her so happy. Luna was set on to a chair and from there, she changed her fin into a pair of legs, and was immiediately covered up with a skirt.
"I think today we'll walk around the building," said the male that had brought her. He had taken a liking to her and has made himself her care giver, making sure she was healthy. Luna smiled, not saying a word but instead, standing up. Her balance was not perfect but better than it was her first day of trying to walk. The man held out his arm and she grabbed it, before they walked out of the room and down the hall. "This way, you can try walking up and down stairs and slants in the floor and I'll be here to help you every step of the way," he stated with a smile. The man had decided to stay in the secured area for now and believed that as she got better, she'd be able to walk around the entire place as long as someone was with her. The two walked down the stairs, with a little trouble, and into the dungeon type area. This way, she kind of knew where she was seeing as she had a great view of it from her cell.

Felix let his eyes open slowly, yawning lazily as he awoke from another drug induced sleep no doubt. He dragged his arms to his face and rubbed his eyes with the back of his hands. Still remember the first time he got those razor like claws, he found that out the hard way. He could not see for weeks. Felix dragged himself to the front of his cell, noticing some large man standing up and another red haired creature waving its arms. Felix let his eyes dart back and forth as he tried to get the blood to flow back into his legs.

After a few moments he had enough strength to pull himself up using the cell bars, and careful, he stood on his legs. He leaned into the cell but quickly lost balance. They usually gave him an extra dosage due to the fast metabolism and his numerous attempts to escape. They could never keep up with him....but those closed doors never let him get far. Then they just walked up to him, cornering him.

Felix learned it was best to cooperate, not cause trouble. But he still watched the other two animals with his left eye. The right side of his face being a little to friendly with the cold floor. "...Are..." Felix tried to move his mouth, but he was incredibly drowsy. Just managing to mutter out a single word before his mouth gave out on him.

Sighing quietly, the fox's eyes darted from the man to the boy who had just woken up. Crawling over to him slowly, she bent down to look at his face -- clearly, he was heavily drugged before. With a soft "umph", Lucille managed to get the boy sitting upright against the stone wall, gingerly standing up and ignoring the pain. She limped over to the man and took his hand, dragging him closer to the cold iron bars. She pointed to one of the scientists in the distance -- one wearing full laboratory safety equipment. Probably going to deal with one of the more violent specimens.

Shuddering at the thought, Lucille allowed the boy to try and figure things out for himself. Meanwhile, she went to the back of the cell and sat down, starting to massage her leg. There was definitely going to be some kind of physical test later, and she couldn't risk getting too beat up again -- the scientists were trying to get her to learn some combat skills in case she was ever sent out to the battlefield. The fox was really only good with direction, knowing exactly where to do and also knowing when certain things in the distance were moving. Hand-to-hand combat.... now that was a stretch.

It was odd. It was like the longer he was awake, the more memories started coming back. He could remember bits of what looked like some kind of laboratory. Wires and computers and needles, and all kinds of things swirled around his head. Just how long had he been here, anyway? And what the hell did they do to him? And why did it smell so horrible in here? It was like his nose was on fire!

He snapped out of his thoughts when he felt his hand being grabbed by the small fox-girl and pulled off in some direction. Though it was a bit painful to move, Seth didn't fight it, only allowing himself to be lead over to what seemed a normal human boy lying up against the stone wall. "Damn..." Seth let out under his breath, seeing how young he and the fox-girl seemed. "These people are sick, getting kids involved with this craziness." Not that he himself really understood much of what was going on, aside from what he assumed was the obvious: some group of deranged people kidnapped people and were now holding them there against their will, apparently indiscriminate of age.

When the fox girl began to leave, Seth called out to her. "Hey, wait a second-" But she'd already gone to a different part of the cell, not seeming to be real keen on communicating. Why didn't she just talk to him, he wondered. But his attention no sooner found its way back to the blonde boy propped up against the wall. "Hey," He put his hand on the boy's shoulder, who seemed out of it, shaking him softly. "Are you alright?" Maybe if he was, he could talk to him a little, and he could figure out what was going on. ...And what to do about it.

Ludwig leafed through the papers lying on a desk in the observation room, listing all specimens in the cells down below. The words were slightly blurred, and he could make out the printed text, but the hand-written notes by the scientists were lost to him. Cell A-6...specimen M48, hybrid with Ursus thibetanus formosanus and specimen M52, hybrid with Ursus arctos; Cell B-16...specimen M23, hybrid with Canus lupis and specimen F42, hybrid with Vulpes vulpes......wait...

He paused in mid-flip, staring at the two pictures taped to the papers. It was a female with auburn hair, the first one being before the alterations, and the second one being how the specimen looked after the hybriding. Both, in his view, looked similar to the one that had been waving her hands around in the cell. He picked up the stack of papers and walked back over to the glass, and saw the painted letters marking the cell room as 'B-16'. Looking back down at the papers, he noted that 'Specimen 42 is quiet, and selectively mute. Adequate for scouting and/or assassination missions due to her quick speed, but lacking in combative skills. Training in process.' He snorted quietly beneath his scarf, just in case one of the scientists were lurking nearby (though he was pretty sure they weren't, most of the lab-coats had rather strong odors he could smell a mile away, but it never hurts to be careful). Those people seemed to think they were supposed to know everything, without taking in regards what traits they were actually suited for. If the fox was quick, then let her do missions that requires speed, and leave the melee battles for the bears and gorillas or something.

Placing the papers back onto the table where he'd found them, he left the observation room to go downstairs. It wasn't often he did this, but occasionally he went to visit the other specimens, just to see what their animalistic traits were like. It sometimes gave him inspirations for what else he could do with his own traits. He already knew he was semi-adequate with physical combat, but tired easily. He was still working on his stamina, though according to his former caretaker, all snakes tired easily. Reaching the heavily secured door leading to the cells, he took out a card and slid it through the slot, unlocking the door with a click, and pushed the door open.

"Hello Ludwig," Luna's elegant and frail voice ended the silence as her and the scientist walked down the hall towards the doors leading downstairs. Luna had shared a cell with Ludwig for the first couple years of her time at the place. She saw him most days just walking by, but being as shy as she is, she never let him see her. Thinking back about this, she realized he might have thought she died in one of the experiments and he wouldn't recognize her now. She bit her lower lip, looking into his eyes as they got closer.
The scientist did not say a word; he silently watched the two converse. He had not worked with Luna when she was young, so he was unaware that they knew each other. The man was just happy to see Luna talking to someone other than him.

Snapping her head up at the sound of the doors, Lucille looked with wide eyes at the man who walked out and started talking to another woman. He looked like a reptile, and somehow reeked of one. The fox had never seen him before, but that was probably because she was kept in somewhat of an "isolation" cell for the past half year. Why is he... not in a cage...? she thought. How is he different from us? Where is the fairness? While we are stuck in a cage... he can roam. What kind of blasphemy...

Shaking the thought away, Lucille saw the new boy try to get the younger one to come to. Curiously, she limped over to the kid and sat on the ground, nuzzling his face. He felt... kind of cold to the touch, so the fox sat next to the boy and laid her bushy tail on him, sharing some warmth. Purring softly, Lucille examined his face, looking at his eyes, trying to determine how badly he'd been drugged.

Lying on top of the dirty rags, Choko was aware of a burning sensation throughout her body. Just as suddenly as it came though, it was replaced with a freezing sensation that made her shiver violently before that too was gone, substituted once more with the burning. As she rolled over though, she became aware of another feeling: her tummy was doing somersaults.

Wiping the bile from her mouth with the back of her hand, she buried her diapered bum further into the rags, thereby forcing her upper body to rise without actually requiring her to move. She knew she reeked horribly, and the stinging and burning around her waist made it apparent that she had a severe case of diaper rash. But she couldn't help it. The experiments had screwed her up, but the scientists wouldn't get anyone to change her. She only needed it when she accidentally pooped herself, but that wasn't very often.

Her eyes followed the actions of the others blankly, confusion flickering in their depths. The eternal silence she lived in was quite a hindrance. She knew sign language, but no one else did, so she was stuck, unable to communicate except through cries and charades. Suddenly an idea came to her. Opening her mouth wide, she screamed as loud as she could, unable to hear it herself. That should get her some attention, and then she could get some medicine and a change.

Ludwig blinked and turned around, one foot already within the cell quarters. Speaking to him was a woman, and a man who stood nearby. He didn't recognize her face (he rarely recognized anyone's), but her scent was familiar. It smelled a bit like a mix between seaweed and fish. "...Luna?" He asked, voice unsure and slightly muffled due to his scarf. It had been almost a decade since he last saw her, during her first stages of growing scales and fins. The scientists had thought that he, as a hybrid nearly completely covered in scales, would be better for mentoring her and getting her to adapt to the waters. It hadn't worked out too well, as the waters were always cold and he spent more time on the edges of the pool, wrapped in his usual layers of clothes, watching the small girl, who couldn't have been more than five or six at the time, figure things out herself than actually instructing her anything. They'd taken him off that task soon and he hadn't seen her since. He had thought that she had either been sent out on missions already or had died somewhere along the years.

Opening his mouth, he was about to speak when a piercing scream split the air, causing him to wince and taste something sour secreting into his mouth, an indicator that his poison glands had reacted to his distress. High-pitched noises grated on his ears and reminded him of those high-speed drills scientists and 'check-up doctors' often used when drilling holes into bones or teeth. Hissing in annoyance, he whipped around to see who the source of the atrocious screech was. He couldn't see the person, but the noise seemed to be coming from the back.

As Lucille tried to check on the drugged boy, a piercing scream suddenly rang through the air and she collapsed backwards onto the floor, hands on her ears as she nearly convulsed on the floor. Her hearing was too acute now, and this was just too much. The fox somehow managed to stand up and look around the cell, shaking horribly as she scanned for the little tyrant who was making that infernal noise. It seemed to come from some little blonde girl in the back -- it was obvious that she was uncomfortable, although the reason was unknown to Lucille.
Hobbling over to the blonde, you would've thought that she was about to slap the kid what with the look on her face. Instead, however, she picked up the child with ease and stood her up, holding her hand as she observed her. It seemed as though she had a terrible rash since the redness peeked out around her waist. And the smell.... the odor forced Lucille to crinkle her nose -- apparently, the girl needed to be changed.
Oh, for the love of... the fox thought. She's so small... Looking carefully at the girl, it seemed as though she hadn't even caught up to the 4-foot mark, and she weighed nearly nothing. With a sigh, Lucille tried to remember any sign language she had learned from one of the scientists a while ago -- she didn't like using it since no one else could, and she ended up giving up on it.
However, she somewhat remembered one thing. Lucille took her thumb and flicked it from under her chin, then cupped her hand around her mouth and moved the hand to her side. It was supposed to mean, "Don't scream." At least... that's what she was hoping it meant.

Aletta was pacing automatically up and down her cage.
The straw-strewn floor was scratchy against her bare feet.
She shivered slightly and folded her huge wings closer to stay warm.

There was a small shelter at one end, only half as tall as she was with a low door so whenever she entered Aletta had to crawl through, but she hated it in there. It was cramped and the most she could do was curl up in it, there wasn't even enough room to stretch out let alone stand.

In the outside area the walls were broken up by thick glass windows. She couldn't see through them, because they were tinted, but sometimes she could feel herself being watched. It was a horrible sensation.

Frustrated with pacing Aletta stretched out her wings with their 14foot wingspan and pushed down. She flew straight up as fast as she could, nearing the ceiling she stretched out her hands and curled them tightly round the iron bars that made up the ceiling.

During the day she could see the blue sky through those bars, sometimes the sun even shone through.Tears glistened in eyes that used to be dark brown, but now shone like burnished gold.

Aletta hovered there silently for a moment, then with a cry of anguish threw herself back to the floor.
"Let me out!" she screamed for what must've been the millionth time.
But as usual no-one answered.

Suddenly feeling hands under her, Choko stared up in confusion. It had worked? She hadn't really thought that it would. Being lifted wasn't so great though. With a lurch, she turned and spewed her meager breakfast. Stupid flu anyway. That was twice now, and it's only been ten minutes.

A little worried about the girl's reaction, Cho looked up at her, eyes sparkling, in time to see her sign to stop screaming. Feeling a rush of joy in her heart that someone could understand her, Choko signed back, hands moving slowly and deliberately to make sure the other girl caught it. Can you change my diaper? she asked, blushing. I'm sick, but thanks for helping.

Honestly, it was amazing that someone would want to help her in the first place. Overcome with gratitude, she snuggled into the bigger girl, sighing slightly in relief.

Grimacing and making a loud "NYAAAH!" sounding noise, Lucille just barely missed the puke that could have covered her. Blinking a few times, she sighed and watched as the girl make a few signs with her hands. Needless to say, no matter how slow the girl went, it took a while for her to remember any signs. All she got was something about changing a diaper and being sick -- so the girl had a... diaper. And was sick. Lovely. Plus, her concentration was broken when the kid snuggled her. Sighing, Lucille's normal emotionless face returned as she pat the blonde's hair. Kneeling down, she signed, "Diaper, maybe. Might have to get someone. Sorry that you're sick." Then, she added in good fun, "If the someone doesn't look, I'll throw your dirty diaper at them." Rubbing her own head now, she half-limped to the edge of the cell, looking out. That reptilian was still there -- it would be a long shot if he knew sign language or would play a game of charades with her. Sighing and thinking What am I doing?, Lucille stuck her hand out from between the bars and waved it at the man, looking his way with an empty demeanor.

Frowning slightly as the girl put her back down, Cho felt that she had done something wrong, which made her scared. She hadn't lost a possible friend, had she? Looking around frantically, Cho saw a broken piece of tile, which she snatched up. Then she started writing, using the tile to scratch the other tiles. Two objects of the same hardness scratched each other, after all. A knife would've been better of course, or even a pen and notebook, but the scientists didn't really like the experiments holding objects that could be used to stab and cut.

I'm sorry, she wrote. I only have to wear the stupid diapers because the scientists messed up my bladder and weakened by bowels. I usually don't poop myself, but I'm sick, and I haven't gotten any medicine yet. Pleased with her message, she sat back, waiting anxiously for the kitsune to return so she could read the message. From what she could see, the girl was trying to get the attention of someone outside. Maybe she hadn't been offended. It was a long shot, but it was possible, right?

He had taken three steps into the room when he saw something moving, and squinted. Someone was...waving? His tongue flicked out, and he immediately regretted the action; the air tasted absolutely foul. It was so revolting, he could not even make out what all the scents were, although feces, urine, and the reek of sweat were the strongest. Biting back a gag, Ludwig made sure his mouth was firmly covered before continuing, ignoring the rustles and noises coming from the occupants of other cells as he passed.

Reaching the cell where the hand had stuck out from, he stopped and stared at its occupants. The girl he had seen from the observation room was the one at the bars, waving. Two boys, both looking quite disoriented, sitting at the sides. A girl sitting on the floor, wearing...a diaper? There was also a splatter of...something, on the ground. He wrinkled his nose, the stench reaching him despite the distance. Well, Ludwig thought, at least the reason for that atrocious scream and the waving are explained...His eyes flicked back towards the still-open door, where Luna and the other male were standing. The male was probably either a scientist or a technician. Either way, he would suffice. He turned to motion at the male, beckoning for him to come over.

(Rosy, I asked that you PM me profiles, and you didn't use the right profile format. Please do both those things and then I'll post your profile up and you can join, okay?)

As the boy lay loosely in his arms, Seth having slapped at his face some, it looked like his efforts to get him to come around were futile. He just kept moaning and rolling his eyes around, like he was in a daze. Seth sighed, wondering what to do now, when all of a sudden he heard that wretched scream, he instantly covering his now much more sensitive ears. He turned to look where the scream had come from, and luckily the fox-girl from before seemed to be dealing with it. That was good. Although a part of him wanted to scream himself, he honestly didn't think he could handle another ear-piercing scream like that.

But it really wasn't the worst part. The worst part was the smell. Never before did he think he could have smelled anything so putred in all hif life. It was coming from that little girl too; the one the fox-girl was dealing with. He felt as if his nose were going to fall right off and rot. He held his sensitive nose for a moment, but it was all too clear that he'd have to push the matter aside. He had to figure out a way to get out of here!

With the boy still in his arms, Seth witnessed three people now in the room, outside of the large cage they were all in. "What the...?" He let out. One looked very strange to him. His body was scaly and multiple colors. And his eyes... even from the distance, Seth could see that they were slits. He obviously wasn't human. And neither was that girl standing in the doorway with that guy in a lab coat... she was beautiful but her ears looked almost fish-like. There was definitely something off about her.

Then the scaly man motioned for the scientist to come over. As the man did so, Seth furrowed his brows. He gently placed the boy back on the ground and stood up, coming to the iron bars, both hands on a bar. "Who are you people?" He asked to the three strangers on the outside of the cage. "Why are you doing this to us?"
