I don't really get the fascination with zombies in the current cultural scene. I get they play into certain fears, but there's nothing really... inspired about them. Thai movie monsters, now those are freaky deaky.
It's hard to explain, but ever since Romero put zombies on the map I think they've just had their own little rotting spot in the horror pop culture. The Walking Dead is, in my opinion, the next best thing SINCE Night of the Living Dead as far as visual media goes.

I mean, I people can do interesting things with the subject, there was a book that was talked about on NPR called Zone 1 (I think) which sounded novel (ha), and I'm guilty of owning P&P&Zombies. It's just, meh. Especially when I compare them to things like the Krasue - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, a south east Asian ghost that's basically the floating head of a beautiful woman with her internal organs dangling down, attached only by tendons and cartilage...
