"Okay, just a quick stop at the bank and then we can head home," Winter said as she pulled the car into the parking lot of her local bank branch. She glanced at her friend in the passenger seat. "Feel like coming in with me, or waiting here? I don't know how busy it might be inside."

"I'll come in," Peggy said after a moment of deliberation. "Might as well. We can keep each other entertained, in case there's a line." She grabbed her purse and got out of the car, stretching briefly.

"Cool," Winter said, getting out as well. She stretched a bit and fished around in her purse for her wallet. The automatic doors slid open, and she went inside.

Peggy glanced around habitually as they got into line. Six people ahead of them. Not terrible, but not as quick as she'd hoped, either. Oh well. Not like there was much of anything else going on right then.

Winter glanced back when she heard the door open. When she saw the two men in dark windbreakers and Vendetta masks walk in, though, she froze.

Peggy also froze, especially once the two men pulled out guns. Her internal monologue was pretty much just all panic.

"Everyone down," the first man ordered, hefting his gun.

Winter hit the floor immediately, on the verge of hyperventilating. Her heart was pounding in her ears as she peeked up at the two gunmen and then glanced at Peggy.

Peggy was on the floor next to her, heart pounding. Okay, this was really freaking scary, and she hated that there wasn't anything she could do. She did shift a bit to be closer to Winter, though, just in case.

Winter squirmed closer to Peggy. She was praying that they would get through it okay, and she wished that there was something she could just do... Her hands clenched into fists, and she couldn't help a slight gasp when it felt like she'd grabbed handfuls of fine silk instead of just air. She didn't get a chance to even think about it, though, because one of the gunmen fired a round into the ceiling and she flinched, her hands flying up to her ears and her eyes screwing shut. A blast of wind howled around the two girls for a moment, and suddenly the tile floor of the bank became the braided rug in the living room of their apartment.

It took Peggy a few moments to move. When she did, she opened one eye carefully, peering around. Then the other eye popped open.

"What...?" She blinked rapidly, pushing herself up slowly. "What just happened...?"

Winter slowly opened her eyes and brought her hands down from her ears.

"Oh god what's going on?" she asked as she looked around. "How did we get here?"

"I... don't know." Peggy looked freaked out. "I don't know. Why are we at home...?" She looked around, slowly getting to her feet.

Winter carefully unclenched her hands, looking at her fingers. After a moment, she got to her feet as well.

"I don't know," she said. "But I'm glad we're not at the bank."

"Yeah, good that we're not at the bank," Peggy agreed. "But why are we not at the bank anymore?" Clearly she was still in freak out mode.

"I don't know!" Winter replied. Her hands were trembling. "I didn't see what happened! There's no way we should be here and not there!"

"This is impossible," Peggy muttered. "This just--it doesn't make any sense." She started pacing and fiddling with her rings to give her fingers something to do.

Winter wrung her hands, her fingers rubbing together harshly. Her eyes widened when she felt the sensation of fine silk again, and didn't have time to do more than yelp when the wind howled around her again and she found herself flat on her back outside behind the apartment building.

Peggy yelped when Winter suddenly vanished, and she turned around looking for her. That wasn't possible, people didn't just vanish, this wasn't magic.

And yet, Winter wasn't in the apartment, which Peggy discovered after a minute of frantic searching.

Winter lay on the ground for a moment, stunned. What the actual fuck just happened? After a moment, she shakily got to her feet and looked around. She recognized the area, at least. After another moment of panic, she went to the back door of the building and went inside. She needed to find Peggy and maybe try to piece together what was going on.

By the time Winter got back to the apartment, Peggy was near frantic looking around. She was even looking out the windows and had gone out into the hallway looking, just in case she somehow missed something.

"Oh thank god," she muttered when she saw Winter. "What happened?" she asked a little louder.

"I don't know," Winter said. Her voice trembled a bit. "There was wind and suddenly I was out back on the ground."

"Okay." Peggy took a deep breath. "Okay. So that makes twice now. Twice makes it really not a coincidence."

"We don't even know what 'it' is!" Winter pointed out. Her hands were clenched into fists again and she didn't dare relax them.

"No, but whatever 'it' is, it's not a coincidence," Peggy pointed out. She was still shaking, just a little. "Okay. I think we could use some tea or something. Maybe if we both just calm down things will be clearer."

Winter nodded a bit.

"Yeah," she said. "Yeah, that's-- that's a good idea."
