I don't think it's sad.
I thought they were good books and I read them a lot. Just because the hype has gone out of control and everyones sick of it or thinks you're 'gay' to like it doesn't mean it wasn't good in the first place. People would have a different opinion on the books if the hype wasn't so annoying.

@Brit: No, it's not sad, just a little disappointing. After all, there's sooo many good books out there.

Even though I think it's not really good to only read one series, at least you're actually reading something. It's better than sittin' on ya ass all day watching the movies. That's the only reason I like Twilight. It encourages people to read.

I personally enjoy the series but it's not the only thing I read.
Try reading some Christopher Paolini, Nicholas Sparks, or Dan Brown for a change.
