I hated mobile homes when I grew up in them. Then as an adult I realized what I really hated was trailer parks. Give me a nice mobile home on a big plot of land where I can do what I want and life's a peach!

Yeah. We own the trailer and pay 100$ a month for the lot. They let me have chickens and garden or whatever.

Thanks. My neighbor helped with that. Since then I put a roof on it and traveled the parking lot in front.

Only $100 for lot rent? That's really nice. Your water and gas are probably separate though aren't they?

I feel like I've said this here somewhere before, but I tell my friends all the time at work that I can't wait to have enough saved to build a small home outside of town where I can have space to garden, raise animals, and just generally do whatever I want. Currently I rent spaces in town where a garden center owns a large swatch of land. Next year I plan to use this garden to supplement half my grocery intake. The other half I'm hoping will be from the farmer's market. If need be I want only 10% of my intake to be from stores, preferably small businesses.

Monday I need to text my landlord and see if I can place a deep freezer in my single garage if I buy one. If not, this house is getting reorganized again. There's a gentleman at the market who sells whole sheep and I desperately want to buy one.

That's the key! The same man also sells whole cows.

Don't know where I would store all that...

I JUST REALIZED I COULD BUY A TABLE FOR MY GARAGE AND USE IT FOR APPLE PEELING! This night just got amazing.

When I was a kid I lived with my grandparents...my grandfather hunted elk and deer every year in the fall, and we fished in the summer...so our big freezer was always full of game meat and trout. I barely knew what beef tasted like until I was a teenager!
We also had a huge vegetable garden so the freezer also had corn on the cob and green beans from the garden...and my grandmother canned the tomatoes.
I miss what the veggies tasted like from the garden...so much better than the tasteless produce that's offered at the grocery store.

Part of the problem with mass farming and what you buy from the store is they always let it get "too big" at which point the produce gets "woody". It would always happen to my grandma's peas if no one harvested them fast enough. Elk, deer, and trout sound amazing. Sometimes I debate on getting a fishing license, but that's another thing that can wait a couple years.

I ate so much game meat as a kid that it doesn't taste good to me any more.
Also...since moving to Colorado from Oregon, the fish that we catch here in Colorado just don't like the fish that we caught in Oregon...has turned me off to eating fish.
I enjoy fishing when I get the chance...but I don't enjoy eating what I catch, so I usually give it away if I don't return them to the water.

Kelseydee: YOU'RE 65? Well that's awesome. I always think about if I'll still be on chat sites like this when I get to a certain point, or if I'll pack up and settle into my ridiculous book collection, but talking to people here is so much more fun than face to face. Especially on a website as peaceful as menewsha.

Inzanebraned: I get that. I'm hard to please with fish in general... but I get to fry up some tilapia in the morning! Tilapia and croquettes, maybe some fried rice, knoephla, curry, bread, potato salad, I've got a bag of rice cakes thawing. Hopefully this will last me another month when I have the energy to cook again.

I'm 58 years old and I truly miss the "dress up" feature that has gone haywire on this site.

Kelseydee: I just tried googling that to see if there was an archive wiki or anything. I found a dating site.

Inzanebraned: Not being able to use multi items is frustrating. I only own 3 but I know I liked them.

The moba I knew went kablewy when I was about 50.
The reason I got a cell phone and started going on line was because when I was a boy, there were grey haired men being left behind because they couldn't read and increasingly u had to read. So one day I realized I was turning into one of those guys but now the medium was the web. Moba was the 1st social site I joined. I'm still friends with people I met there. Izzy and I met elsewhere and have continued here.
