I think I'm a fairly quick reader as long as I'm enjoying the book.
I once read harry potter #1 in probably 9 hours (I think) It wasn't the first time I read it incidently.

Usually if I'm really enjoying a novel and I'm not too tired it might take me a couple of nights and a bit of reading on the train or lunch breaks.
I read the "The memory keepers daughter" in a couple of days last week.
I usually read books faster if I'm not tired, late at night I often fall asleep with a book xD I also find I skip paragraphs if a word takes my fancy, or read a sentence repeatedly without realising, when I'm tired.

How bout the other literates in here?
How fast can you read a good book?

I read Harry Potter #7 in 8 hours, I don't know if that's fast...

I also read The Woman in Black pretty quickly.

Yeah thats fast.
It's a big book.
HP is so easy to get absorbed in and it flows so well it's hard to read it slowly if you enjoy it ^^

It all really depends on the book. >_>
The fastest I've read would have to be Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows in eight hours as well. xD
It was so uncomfortable, but the book was worth it. :3

I read all the novels for my English class in about four or five hours; as the language gets closer to what we speak today, it gets easier to read. (Of course, lol.) I'd go faster than that, even, but I have to underline and write notes in the margins.

But since I'm an English major in college, I can't recall the last time I had the opportunity to do any pleasure reading; I'm already assigned so much to read! I think I would go more slowly with a book that I was reading of my own accord.

It would probably be four or five hours.

The book would be *Tries to remember* well it was not harry potter. Female lead character... *thinks* It was over 400 pages..... I don't remember the title T_T I could do a whole little summary though.

Well I don't usually time myself, except for the last Harry Potter book which only took 6 hrs! I know a girl on here though who read it in 4 hrs, but she works in a publishing place and reads manuscripts ALLLL the time. She told me she had her office record the start and end time, and that they made it a competition! xD

Thats the type of place I would like to work!!

Ehehe.

Apparently, I read insanely fast, and scarily enough, I retain what I read.

Tom Clancy's The Bear and The Dragon in two hours.

The books is 1,031 pages.

I'm not lying, and I didn't skim it.

Honestly, I can read that fast.

I don't get much time to read anymore with school though.

*sadness*

That would depend on the novel. I believe my fastest was half an hour, but then that was only a hundred something page book.

Though I haven't been able to read very fast since I started school again I've been known to finish 200-300 page books in a day. I've read 2 of the Cirque du freak series in a single day.

I read The Shining in three days, because it was so unexpectedly good I would read it during class, at home, on the train, whenever. I was very sad when I finished it.

When I was in high school I read a few novels that were assigned in about 4-5 hours a novel.

If it is a book that I really like, I draw out the time. I don't want to miss anything and sometimes I like to reread certain passages.

If I really like a book and can't put it down, but want to take my time with it, I can finish it in about 8 hours give or take.

...Depending on a lack of distractions and school work. Stupid college. ^_^

The morning of the day my book report for it was due I read the scarlet letter in 2 hours. The chapters were fairly short, so it was easier to pace.
I realized after I'd finished my poster I could've just skimmed through it. The report wasn't difficult. ^.^;
But I was glad I did read it, because the test was really hard. >.<;;
