I'm celebrating Chinese New Year on the 14th ~ I'll probably give my grandma in Hong Kong a nice call, to wish her a prosperous year ahead.. Bit of a tradition.

Hello, Kat here. I'm going to use my space in this thread to briefly explain Shrove Tuesday/Pancake Day.

Shrove Tuesday is a term used in Ireland, the United Kingdom, and Australia for the day preceding the first day of the Christian season of fasting and prayer called Lent.
On Shrove Tuesday people traditionally cook and eat pancakes, the reason for this was to use up foods such as fats and milk before Lent. It is also called pancake day.

It's more of a tradition now for most people to eat pancakes on Pancake Day rather than for religious reasons, but for whatever reason, if you're going to eat pancakes on the 16th I hope you enjoy them. ^^

I made pancakes the other day when we were snowed in :yes:

I did my standard whole wheat pancakes with flax seeds & some flax seed meal mixed in

I'm bored of snow. XD

Being snowed in sucks - but is good for breakfast because i have more time to make it!

I like my pancakes with sugar and lemon but I'm not sure if I'll get any this year... I'm in catered halls at uni so we don't have fully equipped kitchens of our own. ^^;

Well, it's just the crappy kind of syrup which I don't exactly like anyways because it taste like hershey. Don't get me wrong, hershey is good... but i'm a fan of dark chocolate truffles and stuff ^^
