I'm not freaking out because too many people already are, which is causing some really bad situations for people who actually need many of the supplies that are now experiencing mass shortages.
I keep up to date on current information and that's enough.

It's alright. I'm a constant news feed, which is annoying some coworkers, but so long as our bosses don't approach us about self-quarantining at work to keep business running we're considering it all good.

XP
Everyone was freaking out at my one job yesterday and they were all "oh, you need to wipe the counters and card machines and soor and cart handles down every so often with these clorox wipes so people see it and stay calm" and then preceded to tell me that we were doing it because there was a coronavirus case in a city which a.) is over 100 miles away and b.) is old news and c.) is fake news, that one was a suspected case but was tested and proven to be a false alarm already.

Now, people taking a quick glance at updated for the state I live in but not really reading anything may jump to the conclusion that there's still a case in the state anyway, but that's also incorrect. There is a resident of my state, currently residing out of state, who picked up the coronavirus and is in quarantine, but they have been out of state since Nov. 2019 and have not returned since then, but the way the CDC classifies these things, they still count it as a case in my state because she is a resident from here.

But actually doing research and looking up news from reputable sources is too hard for most people.
Honestly, I'm a fan of being prepared in case the worst happens, but prepare without panicking. There's no point in freaking about things you can't control, all you can do is prepare and wash your hands. A lot. XP

Please, PLEASE wash your hands a lot. The statistics on Americans who don't is... please just WASH YOUR HANDS.

I'm waiting for this to blow up. It's getting worse. Now that people are done hoarding cleaners and toilet paper they've begun moving onto food. I've not done either and I'm reassuring myself with the fact that I can simply plant my seedlings early and transplant them in may if I need food. At the very least, if the grocery stores empty out I'll have early lettuce and green tomatoes, dry pasta, flour... oh I should probably go buy some sugar.

I already had bad anxiety before this pandemic happened...now I just want to sleep all the time! Ugh!
Now the hoarding of toilet paper has ensued...empty shelves everywhere!
Schools have closed, sporting events and concerts are cancelled...but we are advised not to panic!
Right! Good luck with that!

I mean really...my biggest panic is just that my jobs will fully close because that would mean I wouldn't be able to make rent and would be homeless...but other than that, I'm not really panicked.

In reality as long as you're making sure to wash your hands as frequently as possible and using proper hand washing techniques and anti-bacterial soap and you're in good health to begin with (and don't touch your face), you'll probably be just fine even if you do end up getting the virus. Which isn't to say that it's not still a problem or anything, but as long as you are careful and no one with the virus coughs or sneezes directly into your face, you'll probably be okay and won't get it.

Thankfully I managed to snag a couple packs of tp before the shortage hit too bad, so I should be fine until stores are able to get more in.

Now, grocery stores that normally are open from 5am to midnight are reducing their hours to 7am to 8pm...they say it's so the employees can stock the shelves.
I don't usually get to the store before 10pm! ...this sucks!

Now dine-in restaurants and bars have been ordered to close except for to-go orders, and theaters, gyms, casinos, and libraries are closed for at least 8 weeks.
So far, schools are only taking a 2 week closure...but that could change, too.
The DMV is also closed and any gatherings of 50 people or more are being required to cancel or postpone...this includes churches.
Grocery stores are open and hiring more employees to try to keep the shelves stocked...
The State of Colorado presently has 160 confirmed cases of the virus.
I feel so sorry for the people who will be forced to go on Unemployment in order to have money to pay bills...though evicting people unable to pay rent is being discouraged.
The BF works for a tow company and he has been ordered to not allow anyone to ride inside the tow truck...instead, they are being told to make customers stay in their cars and the car will be loaded onto the tow truck and they will be taken to a safe destination. They are not to have paperwork signed or to have more more personal contact than absolutely necessary.
I understand and agree with these precautions...but I find it pretty hard not to be freaking out a little!

Where I'm at restaurants are still open, but we only have 6 confirmed cases in state (at least as of yesterday).
But schools, museums, and public transit have been closed. Thankfully the museum I work at is just closed to the public, so I can still work and get paid, which is honestly the thing that freaks me out the most because without that job, I'm homeless.

Here, some grocery stores are closing early, some aren't(my work isn't, AFAIK). A lot of restaurants are going no dine-in or in some cases, closing outright for a week or so. Schools, of course, are closed for another week-and-a-half, along with most other city buildings(libraries, rec centers, etc).

Thank God for 7-11, though.

My county has been under a "shelter in place" order for the past 6 days. I've been self-isolating for a week longer than that, because I got a cold and was home sick. I'm actually very accustomed to staying home during most of my free time (I'm a big ol' nerd and couch potato) but even so, this is different, kinda scary, and very surreal. I live in an apartment in the heart of downtown, and it is a ghost town now. It's so strange.

Also, I was in the middle of moving in (from my mom's house to my bf's apartment, so most of my stuff is still back at my mom's, and I'm stick here with limited things. I have enough here that it's fine, but I miss my stuff! My books! My consoles! My art supplies!)

The mayor or Denver has ordered a Stay at Home order for the city and county of Denver starting March 24 at 5pm through April 10.
Residents can still go to the grocery store and to the pharmacy and the laundry mat...and go out to get outdoor exercise, providing they practice safe social distancing.
They can also go to pick up To Go orders from restaurants.
The original order was to close liquor stores and pot dispensaries...but as soon as the order was announced people started lining up at those businesses...ignoring the social distancing practice! ...so it was declared that liquor stores and dispensaries could stay open providing they practice safe distancing and limit the number of customers in their stores at one time.
So many people are out of work for this period...I fear for the mental health of many!
I live just outside the county of Denver...so I am not ordered to stay at home...but I usually stay home all the time, anyway, except to go to the grocery store!
But the difference between choosing to stay home and being ordered to stay home makes it feel like there are invisible bars on the windows and doors.
I have heart disease and have suffered from anxiety on good days before this pandemic...now the anxiety is increased and being awake sucks!
I just try to stay focused on TV shows to keep me distracted and try to remind myself that this will not last forever.
Stay safe and wash your hands!

Im handling it okay so far, people still hoarding toilet paper and food among other things, but goods is they have put on limit on items for now, which hopefully will improve the problem.

We are in lockdown starting from today. It doesnt feel any different yet because I stay home most days anyway but it may get to me at some point. Im not sure really. Time will tell.

We are allowed to go get groceries, pharmacy, alcohol, and other essentials. Not sure how booze is essential though but anyway.

I decided to keep my daughter home from kinder to make sure she doesnt get it even though kinders are still open and day care centres are still open.

Now the entire state of Colorado is on Stay at Home order until April 11...though the county we live in expects the order to last until April 17.
Essential travel allows trips to the grocery store, seeking medical care and picking up food through drive through.
I have requested Sarah's doctor to grant us a "Right to Travel" letter so we can get Sarah out of the house in the car.
Sarah doesn't enjoy walks outdoors because of the bumpy ride she gets in her wheelchair and she gets frustrated and bites her hand. She enjoys rides in the car.
When we take her for rides, we rarely even take her wheelchair with us and we don't get out of the car, so it's not like we would come into contact with anyone else.
The receptionist at the doctor's office said she will forward the request and get back to me when they know if they can do this for us or not.
Sarah is 37 years old and has the mental capacity of an 18 month old...she doesn't understand what rules are or the meaning of "no." I feel it would be in her best mental health interest for us to be able to take her out in the car for rides...not to mention my own mental health as I am required to stay home with her.
I agree with the decision to order residents to stay at home to prevent the further spread of the virus...but I also fear for the mental health of those of us who feel like we are on House Arrest!
Who would have dreamed that something like this could happen in this Day and Age!
Stay safe, stay socially distanced and wash your hands!

I actually have a right to travel letter from one of my jobs. We're not on full lockdown here yet, but because I work at Joann and the stores are providing material for people to make masks for hospitals, even with lockdowns, we'll probably still be open so corporate sent out a letter to be printed and handed out to all employees.

They have now increased restrictions because some idiots decided not to listen to the restrictions in place. And its increasing at a rapid rate as well. Not happy, but Im sure once this blows over I should be okay. I just dont know how long it will take.

I saw a creepy picture from Florida of where one county ends and the other begins and WOW, there was an invisible line and one side had 3 patrolling 4-wheelers and the other was crawling with people; all of them idiots.

I'm pretty sure I caught it earlier in the month. It was mild. It started with loss of taste and smell, mild but annoying GI tract issues, then a dry cough I thought was allergies. The next few days, I got weird shortness of breath, chest tightness, a low-grade fever, the abdominal cramps, and even though I wasn't blowing my nose more often than with light spring allergies, it looked like I had a severe sinus infection going on or my sinuses thought it was still christmas. Then I had some very mild muscle aches. The odd thing was, I didn't get that feeling like when you feel sick or know you're getting sick. I felt normal, but you don't get a feeling of tightness in your chest and losing your breath making a sandwich when you're normal. Overall, it felt milder than a cold, but weird and a little alarming?

Also some friends I'd been around came down with something similar, but no worse than I felt. Thankfully anyone I was around that was at-risk is fine. I don't know about strangers though.

My doctor was like, "well if you're not feeling severely ill or in danger, we can't write a note for testing. So just self-quarentine, disinfect everything, yadda yadda." I could've later driven about 30 minutes to sit in a line for 8 hours to have a swap stuck up my nose so I could fully know if I did have it in several days but I decided against it.

So here I am just waiting to see if we may ever get around to antibody testing.

It's been a little over a month since the first onset of symptoms and a little more than 2 weeks since the last I felt anything. I still have a little dry cough here and there. But otherwise I think I'm over it now.

I haven't left my house in weeks. Even longer than the mandated orders in my state because I was worried I might have it when I started getting the breathing issues.

I'm an introvert. I don't see a lot of people often. I've been at home with my husband. I love him, but I really just want to see friends and a pile of food that isn't from my fridge.
