It's funny that there are so many male novelists out there that we read, but when I sit down to a fic, I can rarely pallet the writing. But then, I am usually looking for something different in my fanfiction. It's not that males can't deliver it. They can, I've read one or two fabulous fics by males, but ones written by women tend to outweigh them.

@Cuppy - I still have my teddy bear from when I was a baby :D

I'm ok with single character genderswap. I like exploring characters. It depends on how its used. Some people can do it well, some just can't :P

@Cookie: lol Yeah, I know, that's what I'm having trouble deciding on. xD I tend to pick random names too...like I've had the name Lucan Valerius stuck in my head for a while but that's the name of an NPC shopkeeper in Skyrim. >_>

Like you said, I tend to find more fics written by females to be more appealing than the males'. I tried a few 'popular' (read: has lots of review numbers) fics by males, but nearly always ended up getting bored of it or not be able to feel as immersed as I do with ones written by females. It's weird. @ A@;

yeah probably. I'm reading a fic where one of the main characters is Transgender. The way it's written is very nice and it does the justice to the character so I'm happy.

The whole gender bent thing just seems so guh weird to me cause its like they change aspects of the character because of their gender and it just makes me wanna kick someone in the shin!

If it's transgender I'm fine with it. I just don't like the ones where like Harry Potter was randomly born a girl or Draco Malfoy suddenly growing lady bits one day after waking up. I just kept thinking, "What's the point?"

I know I could understand it if it was like a joke thing were it was like boom potion malfunction haha ya got boobs now then poof they gone! Its like omg if this is a major plot point just shot me in the foot now!

lol Yeah, I don't mind if it was a potions accident or something that's not a central part of the storyline. But unfortunately most of the time they are. And most of the time they end up getting pregnant. I will never understand some of these fiction writers' obsession with pregnancy. M-preg is another thing that icks me out.

Mpreg is some what of a hit and miss for me. If it comes along in a series of fics or works into the story line I'm ok. If its something thats all like omg we is gonna have sex for the first time then boom omg I didn't know this could happen to me stuff happens. I'm all like nope just nope!

lol Yeah. The Black Bunny was alright for an m-preg, since it wasn't the central focus of the entire story, but like you said, the ones where they freak out and stuff are just...no.

Or poorly written original characters who are just thrown in so that one odd ball character who doesn't have a relationship can have a relationship.

Hahaha I almost never read OC fics. xD If they're on the sidelines then it's okay...but not when they're/become the main focus.

I read one that took place in the naruto universe and it was set in the future and I gotta admit it was pretty good. Then again they lead to the main focus characters growing more then anything.

Yeah, that's sort of like how it was in the Harry Potter x Sherlock crossover fic I think I mentioned a while back. There were quite a few OCs in there and they all had a good portion to themselves but it was still mostly about Harry and his friends and Sherlock and Watson, and the OCs didn't seem to be hogging all the spotlight so it was nice. :)
