â–º Greetings my fellow Menewshans. The time has come for me to hold an art contest, and I'm very excited about that prospect on this site as there are many wonderful artists out there! I'm no stranger to art contests - as I, myself, have entered many in the past. However, this will be my first time holding one, I'm hoping for a great outcome and lots of fun while it is going on.

â–º This is a reminder that the Harbinger universe is set in a Post-Apocalyptic desert world. Only pictures that include Emerald should show any signs of lush green vegetation.

xxxxâ—� How long does this contest run?
xxxxxxâ–ª As of right now, I have it slotted to begin as soon as I set up all the posts (Friday or Saturday), and run until June 30th, 2008.

xxxxâ—� Do you prefer traditional or digital art?
xxxxxxâ–ª Either, I like the qualities that both have to offer. Digital and traditional will be judged the same for the overall prize and all of the character prizes.

xxxxâ—� What is your favorite art style?
xxxxxx▪ I love all styles of art, so don’t be afraid to enter with your own individual style! My taste ranges from dark and macabre to art nouveau to manga. I’m hoping for a little more variety than the standard shiny anime characters. I really like well-pixeled dolls as well.

xxxxâ—� Can I win more than one category?
xxxxxxâ–ªYes, but only if you enter more than one piece of art. The same picture cannot win more than one category.

xxxx� What if you don’t get enough entries?
xxxxxxâ–ªIf there are less than 5 entries per category the contest will be extended for an amount of time. If extended more than 2 times, the categories with not enough entries will have their prizes reduced.

xxxx► Do Not steal or copy another artist’s work. Art theft is frowned upon and you will be reported.
xxxx► Avoid sending me PMs about a question regarding the contest. Post it in this thread – if you have the question, chances are others do too.
xxxxâ–º All entries should be entered in the thread.
xxxxâ–º Collaborations are fine, but splitting the prize if the image wins is the sole responsibility of you and your collaborator.
xxxxâ–º Tasteful nudity is allowed and encouraged.

â–º Not that they're so unobvious... but I figured I'd give my descriptions of each category anyway.

xxxxâ—� Overall: This is pretty basic. This will be the best image, regardless of traditional or digital media, character(s), background, etc. What I feel best portrays the character(s) that I have created. Reading all character descriptions and character relationships will help you to win this category.

xxxxâ—� Main Characters: Each section for main characters (Jude, Tetra, Iris, Farris) will be judged based on the best portrayal of the personality and character design. (Images picked for the overall category may not be chosen for these categories).

xxxxâ—� Groupings: These categories are for those people who take on drawing two or more characters in a single scene. I will choose the best couple picture that fits the characters involved and the best group picture, of three or more characters, that shows the best character interactions.

xxxxâ—� Medium: These categories will be judged based on the best execution of medium. Traditional can include anything from ink to paint to sculpture. There is no limit. Digital can include anything from digital painting to 3D modeling to pixel art.

xxxxâ—� Side Characters: Each section for side characters (Irynia, Emerald, Malachai) will be judged based on the best portrayal of the personality and character design.

â–º Meet your judges!


xxxxâ—� Navidian. Navidian has been around avatar communities since about 2005. She has done commissions, entered art contests, and ran breedable shops. Now she is moving on in life and working for Bawn Shaunts Design Studios. In her spare time, she is writing and designing the story Harbinger, and she hopes to one day get it published as a graphic novel.

xxxxâ—� Lizspit. Lizspit is Navidian's best friend - she knows all about Nav's Harbinger characters and what heir personalities are like. She also works for Bawn Shaunts. She is also working on her own project that could possibly turn into a graphic novel.

@Waffle: There's a whole bunch of categories, plus honorable mentions for all of them (if there are enough entries); there's also a category for most entries - all I had left for that though was a full halloween set. Heh. ^^;
