Hello and welcome!
I thought this should be a topical thread but also have a possible conversation point :3
The Celts started it all off with bonfires and animal sacrifices as well as costumes made from animals (probably not that nice a thought now a days, huh?). This was called Samhain.
The Celts were conquered and the Pope choose November 1st as All Saints' Day (also known as All-Hallows) when saints and martyrs were remembered.
To find out more you can just google it - or ask and I'll put more up :3
Now-a-days Halloween is about kids (and childish adults xp) dressing up and knocking on doors for sweets or other such 'treats' using the greeting "Trick or treat!".
