It was a project he had been putting off for far too long. Cleaning the attic. Nobody wanted to ever do this, he knew this, and it didn't exclude him either. This and the cellar, two places people did not want to jump up and go through the boxes of stuff hidden inside either of these areas. But. . . it had to be done. It was the weekend, which gave him two days to do this little project of his. He had made sure to get all papers handed in from his students graded the night before so he could get up and go to work up in his attic.

He had gone through several boxes by now. Most of it was junk that he did not even want or he forgot that he owned. For the next few hours, this would continue to go on. On one side of the attic, there would be boxes filled with things he wished to get rid of. On the other side, were boxes of things he wished to keep. ". . . Hm? What's this?"

Blinking a few times in question, Josh would reach into one box and pull out some sort of amulet. Where in the world. . . where had this come from? Was it something passed down in his family that he had forgotten completely about? A brow would be cocked as he held it in his hand, investing it the object a bit closer to his face. He didn't recall ever since the object in question before as a child. Did it belong to someone else in his family and it somehow accidentally made it into one of his boxes? However it had gotten into his place, it had been there for awhile now. Dust had collected upon it.

With his free hand, Josh would use it to run his fingers gently across the surface of the amulet, wiping the dust right off of it. Maybe he should pocket it and take it down stairs for some careful cleaning with some water and soap? To get that nice shine back into it. Then he could see whom in his family it belonged to.

It was simple enough to be in love. It was even more simple to be killed by that love. And to be stuffed into an amulet in some stuffy human attic was definitely something he'd never expected. And to be found again was love in his heart.

The Incubus had been trapped for a very long time inside a very tiny chamber inside an emerald and gold amulet. It felt rather nice, though, to be near freedom, as soon as he was picked up.

"Come on, come on... Open the portal, open the portal!" He shouted loudly, but he wouldn't be heard, yet. The blond most certainly was excited, though.

Josh picked himself up off of the attic's floor and for the moment he'd clean up a bit by putting a few things back away into the boxes he had been looking had moments ago. When things were finally put away or were pushed off to the side to be looked at later, Josh placed the amulet into his pants pocket before he made his way down and out of the attic. Through the hallway and into the kitchen, Josh fished out the amulet from his pocket. "Just a little washing will do the trick." He muttered to himself softly. Then, he planned on placing it away somewhere safe so he could see if any family members knew where it came from.

Reaching for a towel that was sitting on his kitchen counter, Josh rubbed the material against the surface of the amulet, unaware of the effect it would give. With an almost blank expression on his face, Josh continued to rub the amulet off with the towel, hoping to get it cleaned up at least somewhat.
