Hi all, have you seen The Revevant? Leonardo DiCaprio won his very first Oscar (after six nominations!) for his role in this great movie!

What's it about, I don't think I've ever heard of it.

I wouldn't have seen it if my professor didn't show it in class.
I'm not a fan. Additionally, I'm not a fan of showing rape in movies, which only adds to my distaste at having seen it in the first place.

I watched it with my grandparents the other night. It's super depressing. My grandfather was complaining about how gray everything was. It was a movie devoid of color and happiness. Congrats on the Oscar Leo, but this is why I don't bother with Oscar Bait movies. D:

Now I need to find some happy fix-it fanfics or something to make myself feel less depressed about the whole thing.

Oh I didn't know there was rape in that movie. Sorry about that. I also dislike rape shown in movies. Partly also because movies often glorify rape or use rape as a way to propel female characters forward and make them seem strong or something

Rape is quote the cheap plot twist for many a story. In this particular case, it was the rape of a native woman by a group of traders. As I mentioned, this movie was devoid of happiness. Only watch it if you want the greyness of it all to take over your soul!

I loved the Revenant. I thought it was a moody and captivating. The aerial shots of the rivers and wilderness were stunning! Leo more than deserved his Oscar.

That movie was both gorgeous and gruesome. I loved it.
