Hmm, in all honesty, I love both!
I do listen to a few that are a combination of both like Linkin Park, Thousand Foot Krutch, etc.
I think I listen to rock more than I do rap.
I swore a few years ago that I hated rap and now, I listen to it a lot.

Definitly rock. Rap...I don't really consider music.

I like certain rock, but i mean there are more rappers out there that have sensible lyrics, than eminem
he is probably the most popular though
and my view on rap not singing
a lot of rock songs there isn't much in the way of "singing" :/
to make up for that, rap has a good beat, and it is speaking to a rhythm
but then i guess jazz isn't music, because they aren't singing in it.

rap is really annoying,atleast in english. the thing that really piss's me off
is that they are rip music off of other genres and using it. harder,better,faster,stronger!!

Definitely rock for me. I just don't like rap, especially the rap today. To me it's just not music.

I can't say I really like too much rap. There are some good rap artists, but I can't stand the majority of the mainstream stuff. I prefer to listen to rock.

Rap, in my opinion, is not really "music". I mean, okay, you have beats, and maybe some weird warble sound in the background, and parts of the song MAY be singing (rare, but it's been known to happen), but usually it's mostly talking. There's little skill required to perform it - sure, to write it may take skill, getting the rhymes down, but most rappers don't even do that well in my opinion - it's all about sex and drugs and alcohol and cars and "the thug/gangsta life", and to be honest is probably a big part of why people are the way they are today.

No, I'm not saying kids listen to a song and think "hey, cool, they said {insert drug name or something of that nature}, I'm going to go do it!", but it does desensitize our culture as a whole to the subject. And, no, I'm not saying the same thing isn't in rock music, but it isn't so saturated with it in the same way rap music is.

...And that's the second rant-type post I've made in this forum today. Apologies, guys - no offense is meant. And, yes, I know there is some "clean" rap, and that some rock is just as bad, no worries. I'm just generalizing here. :3
