#7 Spring

Characters: Lita, Black, Sam (minor character), Selene (in passing), Charden (In passing), Amber (minor character)

It was early spring and the house was slowly working itself out of the winter slump and working towards more fruitfull ends. Selene spent much of her time in the gardens weeding and tilling the soil, Lita moved much of her loitering to the out of doors and even Charden ventured into the sun to make needed repairs on the house. Black and his sister Amber often played in the front of the house, picking newly bloomed flowers and waving at passers-by. It was one of those days that Black found himself alone with Lita in front of the house. Selene had taken Amber to town to buy fabric and Charden had once again retreated into the shadow of his room leaving the young Changechild alone with a less than enthusiastic baby sitter. "So...what do you do for fun?" Lita plucked a dandelion and blew hard, sending seed pods into the air. "Well...lots of stuff I guess...but I normally play with Amber." The red haired woman his mother refered to as his aunt nodded and yawned. "Kids live very boring lives." she muttered. Black frowned, true his life was very simple but he would be damned if it was boring. He'd show her. "I'ma gonna play knight!" He declared much to his "Aunts" amusement. He ran to the back of the house and grabbed a stake from his mothers garden and ran back. He than began to put on an elaborate show of smiting imaginary enemies and foes. "Your very cute Blackie." Lita smirked, "But be careful or you'll put an eye out."
He chose to ignore her and instead began spinning around pretending he was surrounded by foes, faster and faster he spun until the vertigo forced him to close his eyes. "Black watch out what your doing." Lita cautiously warned him. "Black watch out." her voice carried a little more concern. "Blackie damnit look out!" she yelled as his "sword" connected with something solid, sending him sprawling to the ground. "I told you, dork." His aunt mumbled from the porch. He opened his eyes and looked up to see a huge beast of a man standing over him. Black stumbled to his feet and ran to Lita. "Auntie!" he cried out. Lita just rolled her eyes and strode off the porch. "Hey Sam." she waved to the giant.
The man smiled warmly and dropped the heavy sack from his shoulder. "Ah Lita, I didn't expect to see you here." He broke into a large smile and walked towards her. "Yeah, well, you know." Black stood on the porch in amazement. Before him was perhaps the largest Changling he has ever seen. He dwarfed Charden by a good foot and his broad shoulders made Lita look like little more than a child. He kept his black hair cropped short and his green eyes danced with amusement. "The boy has a good swing on him." The man remarked, looking over to Black. Lita smiled and waved Black over. Black was hesitant but if Auntie Lita said it was ok...he slowly left the porch and moved beside his petite aunt. "Sam, this is Lyrishone, or Blackie as we call him. Blackie, this man here is Sam Bearclaw, he was a friend of your father." Black nodded solomly, he'd ran into a friend of his deceased father. Crimson with embaressment he managed to mutter out a word of apology. "No worries dear boy. It would take much more than a garden stake to get through to me." He patted his stomach and smiled. "I'm just passing through at the moment and was hoping to catch Selene, she in?" Lita shook her head. "She's in town getting supplies, you could catch her if you hurry I bet." Sam smiled even broader and nodded. "Why thank you dear Lita, can I get a blessing for the road and to celebrate this wonderful spring day?" Lita rolled her eyes and the request but couldn't help but smile. "As you wish Sam." She stepped away from Black and cleared her throat. "Sam Bearclaw, cursed son I, Verilita acknowlege and bless you." Suddenly, flowers and grasses burst up from the earth around the Changling male's feet and Black could swear he saw a few birds come out too. "Thank you Lita, it means a lot to hear that." Black could see tears misting Sam's eyes. "You have no idea." Lita shrugged and returned to her spot next to Black. "I'm pretty sure I do Sam. Have a good day."[/i]

One thing I figured I should post because it can get rapidly confusing.... *sigh*

Blackie has two names. His full offical name he was given at birth is Lyrishione Black Blackeye. In the pre-birth, he was named Sententva.

Sky's full name is impossible to list. It is way too freaking long. But her offical name for the books is Kesara Sky Tesseriana Blacksong-Blackeye (at least after she is married to Black). She went for awhile, after she lost her memory, as Cat'thya T'kaani, a clanswoman master mage, and wife to Thunder.

Thunder is another. Thunder's full name which he kept from the pre-birth, is Thundasena. He is usually just called Thunder though.

Lita's full name is Veralita. But she is rarely called that.

Sententva, in the day to day setting, is the horse that goes moo. He is occasionally called Horse by Charden, who is a real ass to the animal. Of course, Sententva always gets back by quacking at Charden, but that is beside the point.

Epona and Ebony are two separate characters of which I have problems in putting the actual name. Sometimes I will put in the wrong one. Epona for general purposes is a slut. Flat out. She is the goddess of lust. She keeps vintages of men and women on tap for her every pleasure. Ebony on the other hand, is a drow like goddess of betrayal. She is cruel and conniving.

Erm.... it think that is it unless Bippy has anything else to add.

#99 Waiting - Battle of Three Skulls
  • Characters: Blackie, Lita, Sententva (in passing), Soldiers of Blacksong Empire

It was still dark out, the gray silence just before dawn when the creatures that dared to remain in the battle torn pass still slept, if fitfully. Soldiers were up and about, most finding the pursuit of sleep to be an impossible feat with battle just hours away.

This war was nothing but waiting. Waiting to see if the Silverlakian Clansmen from the north would arrive. Waiting to see what the zealots from Mrian would do next. Waiting to see if the supply lines had finally succumbed to the constant attacks the Mrian priests had ordered.

The soldiers were grey and dull. The battle had already drawn on for seven brutally long years. Years filled with long, cold sentry waits as the generals sat warm in their tents with their braziers and finest picks from the supply store. The years were filled with horrors as well, as zealots would publicly sacrifice captured soldiers on the massive altar they had behind their lines, situated just perfectly so the men could hear the captive's pain filled screams.

Blackie was so tired of all this. Tired of the turmoil and the low morale, the generals' backhanded politics within the camp. Even though, he also was a general, he slept in a tiny grey tent next to all the other tiny grey tents that housed his men. The only luxury he had beyond any of his men, was the peculiar horse that stood sentry right outside his tent.

He sat high on the hill that over looked the narrow, triangular valley that was on the border between Mrian, Silverlake, and the Blacksong Empire. Beside him was an old bottle of Dragonsbrew that he had been hording since the start of the war. Occasionally he would reach over and snag the long neck of the bottle and take a slow draught of the powerful liquor, set it back down and then wait for ten or so minutes for his body to burn the liquor out of his system before taking another shot.

Reaching over for his next shot, he found the bottle missing and looked up and back to see Lita, standing with the bottle, Mr Pillow in his steel wool 'chain mail' hanging from one hand as the other brought the bottle to her lips. Lowering his hand, he faced forward once more as Lita came to sit at his side.

"Well you are looking all melancholy. That face is more fitting on your brother than it is on yourself, so what are you up to getting drunk this early." Lita said, reaching into her hipsack to pull out her cigarette which she lit with a quick snap of her fingers.

Blackie shook his large head, looking down for a moment before looking back up at the grey light on the horizon.

    "Not getting drunk. Just waiting."

Lita looked at the large changeling in confusion, puffing away at the cigarette that hung from the corner of her mouth. Blackie had been getting more and more quiet as time went on, this drawn out war visibly tearing at the man who held so tightly to all of his guilt.

She could tell that losing men was getting to be extremely difficult to Black, especially as most of his men he had trained himself. She could almost see the thoughts in his mind. 'Did he train them well enough?' 'Did he miss something when teaching them?'

There was a long silence before Lita spoke again, "Waiting for what, Black?"

The answer was simple as she watched the sky purple, and then burst into a glorious riot of reds and oranges as the sun rose over the mountains.

"I was waiting for the sun to rise."

#6 Winter - Frozen
  • Characters: Charden and Kesh'ya (minor character)

The blizzard had come on suddenly, and without warning, as they often did on the plains of Silverlake. The horses had collapsed days earlier of exposure, as they fought there way through the bitter cold, fingers frozen and faces blistered with the frigid temperatures.

"We need shelter!" Charden screamed over the wind to Kesh'ya, his clanswoman companion practically frozen to his side, shivering pitifully even in the masses of fur she wore to keep herself warm.

"But where? Nearest permanent camp to here is A'kerilt, and that is three days walk to the north. We'd freeze before then!" Kesh'ya yelled back, her voice almost lost to the blustering, and bitterly biting winds.

Charden paused, his green eyes wild with frustration and no small amount of fear. He knew he could survive this with his unearthy hardiness as a changeling, but Kesh'ya was a fragile human. She would freeze to death before he could get her out of the elements. Over the years as he had traveled with the lively clanswoman, he had come to grips with the fact that he would see her grow old and parish before his eyes as he remained youthful and unchanged by the centuries. But she was still in the prime of her life.

    He was not prepared.

Growling in fury, he kneeled down, setting Kesh'ya on the ground and threw his furs on her as he stood shirtless in the biting winds and allowed Kesh'ya to watch as muscles moved underneath his skin as fur sprouted and he slowly changed into a massive bear.

Taking his new claws, he dug, quickly getting past the snow to the frozen earth below. He dug furiously until the fur on his paws was stained with frozen blood and before them was a small cavern. Shifting out of the bear form, he lifted the clanswoman, bridal style and placing the shivering Kesh'ya in the cavern, he took back one of hs furs and loped to a small stand of trees a little way from the cavern.

An hour and one shift into dragon form, he was back in the cavern with the wood that he wearily set flame to, before looking on Kesh'ya's frightened face and collapsing in to the arms of sleep.

There are three extremely main characters that you see almost all the time. Blackie, Lita, and Sky. Charden, Selene, and Thunder are the next most seen people...

#81 Boy

Characters: Selene, Charden(in Utero), Mia, Charden's daddy (in passing)

Selene had been in mourning since Chardendara passed. She had dared to hope he would survive until her child's birth and had broken her heart in doing so. Since the funeral she rarely left the house, clutching her stomach she would silently shed tears as the depression ate at her. As she sat in Chardendera's old chair the front door shook and slowly slid open. Mia, Goddess of time walked into the domicile. "M..M..Mia." Selene was startled to see the blind goddess and, holding her gravid belly tried to stand up. "I didn't know you were coming." Mia raised her hand, sending Selene back into the chair. "Thats the beauty of the Gods Selene, we come and go as we please without need of human customs." Though she was blind, Selene could feel Mia's eyes scanning herself and the room. The dress she wore was tattered and faded and her long black hair hopelessly frazzled, her pathetic appearence made Selene feel all the more put out of sorts. "I...I'll go put on some tea." The changling woman tried to stand again but a clearing of Mia's throat sent her right back down. "I did not come here to have tea and talk of the weather Selene. I'm here to inform you I have seen something."
Selene internally grimmaced. Mia's visions were all encompasing and knowing. If Mia saw something it would happen. "What?" she asked. The Goddess blinked her unseeing eyes and took a deep breath. "Two boys will be born to your house, both of great power, they will help the Gods save Sente. Be warned their lives will forever be connected with those of the divine and plan for such." Selene frowned, visibly angry. "If I have two sons they will be Changling men and that in itself lends them to be "connected" to your less than illustrious family Mia." The anger in her voice lashed out. Mia sighed and shrugged her pale shoulders. "You've been told Selene, take care of your children, The Gods will need them soon." Mia then turned on her heel and waltzed out of the door, slamming it behind her. Selene sat in the chair, her depression replaced with a deep seething anger. "Mia be damned. If I have two boys their destinies shall be their own." She rubbed her belly lovingly. "It'll be their own."

5- Midnight

Characters: Lita, Vilige, (minor character) Black, (in passing) Thunder, (in passing)

Lita heard the assassin before she saw him, his shallow breathing being picked up by her keen ears. She had heard Thunder had sent someone out in an attempt on Blackie's life and after all he had already been through, she had very little patience for those who would shatter what little peace he had found.
Pulling the clock around her shoulders she looked into the blackened sky and figured it to be well past midnight; the better, if things were to get ugly in the next few moments she didn't want innocent eyes watching. Snow crunching under her feet she took a breath and continued on into the wood. The assassin was perhaps a quarter mile ahead of her up in a tree waiting perhaps for either word from his master or the cold to let up. "Well, here goes nothing." Lita whispered and started trudging through the snow. "Operation damsel in distress is a go."

She made sure to make an excess amount of noise as she entered the wooded section of the road, hemming and hawing over her cloak or the state of her lantern. If there was one thing she had learned dealing with assassins was they usually had weaknesses, mostly to the opposite sex. As she past underneath the tree where the assassin lay she paused, allowing the light wind to blow out her lantern. "Oh whatever shall I do now?" she wailed, "I'm miles from any sanctuary, and my lantern has gone out! Oh woe is me I'll surely be attacked!" this is so stupid! she thought to herself but hey, if it worked for the girls back in the village...a soft thud behind her caused Lita to smile, she'd gotten them out of the tree. "Actually lovie, there’s an inn only 'bout a mile from 'ere." Lita internally cringed as she heard the male voice with the distinct accent of Ipi, the man she was dealing with was no beginner to the killing arts. "I'd walk ya, but ya know, I've got work waitin’ for Me." from the darkness she could make out he was a bit taller than her, broad shoulders hid massive killing power.
Doing her best imitation of her sister Epona, Lita threw her hair back and rushed to the stranger. "Oh please kind sir, would you please take me to this inn? I've lost my light and fear I would get lost in the dark." She grabbed his arm and pulled herself against him. I'm going to feel very foolish if he stabs me she thought, looking into the handsome but scarred face of the assassin. Pouting softly Lita drove the act home. "I'd be willing to pay...just about anything if you'd walk me there..." The wolfish grin on the gent's face gave Lita a feeling of victory, as he slid his arm around her shoulder. "I s'ppose I could put work off to escort such a...lovely lady as y'erself to the inn. We'll o'course negotiate price la'er." Lita gently took his hand and smiled wickedly as they began to walk through the dark. "Of course we will darling...course we will."

#51 Smiles

Characters: Lita, Charden, (In passing), Thunder (in passing) One of Thunder's Spies, Thunders guards.

It had taken Lita several days to find her. The caravan had been on the move since Thunder had stepped up his invasion plans. It didn't matter much. Since Charden had died Lita had done little if anything; she would sit on Selene's front porch and just stare out at the trees. When word came as to the whereabouts of the woman who had killed him Lita had dissapeared.

Now here she was, standing in the dark in front of a tent in the middle of Thunder's 4th division. Her red hair ragged and tangled into a nest, her cheeks drawn against her bones, a cigarette hanging limply from her emotionless mouth. She shoved a hand through the heavy canvas of the tent and ripped the flap open. The woman sat facing a makeshift vanity, visibly surprised with the Goddesses entry. "Who are you and what do you want?" she asked, peeved. "Where is the baby?" Lita asked, her green eyes dull, making her seem more a ghost than a person. "What baby?" The woman pushed herself away from the vanity and stood. Lita bit down on her cigarette, her patience non-existant. "You laid with a changling where is the child?!" Anger heavy in her voice. The woman's painted lips curled into a cruel smile and she chuckled softly. "Oh that?" She said, lightly. "Lord Thunder told me I would risk pregnancy if I seduced that... thing, luckily we of the clans are very skilled in the use of herbs...there was no baby."

Lita stood momentarily froze. Not only had this woman knowingly slept with Charden to kill him, but she had commited the ultimate sin and killed the changechild sleeping within her womb. "So what are you going to do about it?" The woman folded her arms in front of her. It was then, Lita smiled. A wild, predatory smile that put the woman in front of her on edge. "Oh sweetling..." Lita let the cigarette drop from her lips and carefully put it out with her boot. "I can do all sorts of things about it." Before the woman was able to respond Lita had crossed the distance between them and had a deathgrip on the woman's throat, the smile frozen on her face. "We're going to have so much fun!"

The woman's screams had brought several of the guards to the tent, however none dared entered until the commotion had ceased. When one man finally dared to open the flap what he saw before him was carnage beyond even what Thunder was capable of. He saw Thunder's woman, or rather...what remained of her. A broken, bleeding doll thrown in the corner of the tent. What was more terrifying than the woman's corpse was the walls of the tent. The walls were literally painted in the woman's blood, the dark red beginning to seep through the canvas. "Hello there." A voice behind him sent the soldier running to the other side of the tent. Lita was covered in blood, her green eyes an eerie contrast against so much red. Smiling smugly she took a cigarette out of her side pouch and lit it with a flick of her fingers. "Do me a favor will you darling?" The young guard could do nothing but dumbly nod his head as he stared at the demon woman before him. "Tell Thunder, it was nothing personal he broke my toys...I broke his." She took a drag of her cigarette and dissapeared in a burst of green sparks.

#44 Lightning

Characters: Charden, Selene (passing), Lita

It had been raining most of the day, and thunder rolled as the sun touched the horizon. Charden was only 4 at the time and had stayed by Lita's side through the daylight hours. He now clutched desperately to her skirt as the light dimmed. "Lita...make the loud noise stop!" Charden tugged on the skirt impatiently. She smiled sweetly and leaned over to pick him up; he would be taller than her in a few years, but for now he was of perfect childlike height. "I'm sorry darling...but even the thunder needs a place to go." Selene then came out of the kitchen, dusting flour off of her hands. Her jet black hair pinned precariously to her head. "Auntie Lita is right sweetling now come on, I warmed up that stew I made yesterday and I baked some fresh bread." Charden wriggled out of Lita's grasp and was in the kitchen in a flash. "It's amazing how the promise of food makes the fear go away, huh 'lene?" Selene nodded and pulled the loose pins from her hair causing it to fall down around her shoulders. "Indeed, let's just hope the storm doesn't get too close or we'll be dealing with a very unhappy boy."

It had been several hours after dinner and Lita had been sound asleep when a tugging on her blanket startled her. Slowly opening an eye she saw in a brilliant flash of lightning Charden. He was in his nightshirt and clutching his stuffed bear; Lita could see quite clearly in the fading flash that he was crying. She quickly sat up and scooted over to let the small changeling boy onto the bed. "Charden? what’s wrong?" He was quick to jump into bed and buried his head in her chest. "It’s scary!" Lita placed a hand on the back of his head and gently stroked his hair. "Shhh...its ok...I won't let the storm hurt you..." Charden looked up at Lita, his eyes brimming with tears. "Can I sweep here with you tonight Lita? Pwease!" His eyes became large glimmering pools, there was no resisting. "Ok little one." Lita pulled the covers back as Charden clambered to hide under them. Lita lay back as Charden curled up against her. "I wuv you Lita." Lita smiled and patted his head. "I wuv you too Charden."

37. Sun

Characters: Karnetan (God of the Sun), Sky, Black ((in passing))

"Father please," Sky sat in the overstuffed chair pleading to Karnetan. "If he does not receive aide soon he will die!" The silver haired woman looked to her true father, desperation deep in her eyes. The older man looked down at her, he had been none to pleased when she had decided to wed the changeling, and now was even less pleased to see how the man pained his favorite daughter. "He is a Changeling...and immortal Kesara he will live." Black had become gravely ill shortly after marrying Sky and arriving in the Godly realms. "Father! None of the healers know what this is, and mother herself says that he needs outside treatment!" By this time Sky had grown very animated and had risen from her place in the chair. "If you're acting this way because he dethroned you as sun god..."
"ENOUGH!" The roaring voice of Karnetan echoed through the room and out into the hall, sending several demi-gods running for cover and Sky back into the safety of the chair. "Kesara, you may be my most beloved but I will NOT let you run your mouth as you see fit! No matter what that Changeling does or what Godly powers he is given I am still ruler of this domain and NO ONE ELSE!" He glared down at her, his eyes softening as he say her trying not to cower from his angry wrath. Sky lowered her head, she didn't want to use her trump card, but each moment her father stalled the closer her husband was coming to death. "If you loved me you would help Blackie." Karnetan's ears strained to hear his daughter's voice. "What did you say?" "If you loved me, you would help Blackie." She said louder, raising her head to lock eyes with the Sun God. "If you loved me you would allow us to bring healers who can help him into the realms and if you loved me you would do this without question!"
Karnetan was at a loss. Sky's logic was sound and unless he did as she commanded, he would seem an unloving father...and to Sky that simply wouldn't be the case. Sighing heavily he fell into a nearby chair. "I have controlled the sun for a millennia, I have ruled both the godly and mortal realms and I have fought more battles than any other being and yet...Kesara you are the sun of my sky...you may send for your healers."

Characters: Chandra(Goddess of the moon) Karnetan (God of the Sun)

"Fucking hens...all they do is cluck over stupid things 'oh did you see what the clans did today? Oh would you like more tea? Tee hee oh Chandra your husband is so silly' ugh I could just kill myself" Karnetan sat in his study grumbling over his wife’s latest whim...a reunion with her sisters...whom he loathed. "Why can't they just see that some things are just better handled by men? I mean look at the debacle the clans are in now...ugh." Running his hands through his hair he sighed deeply. "CHANDRA!" He yelled loudly, a few moments later his wife, Chandra waltzed into the room, her white hair ornately pinned up. "What is it darling?" Karnetan stood and attempted to use his height to tower over his wife. "I don't want your sisters coming to the realms." He said bluntly. "In fact...I forbid it, I will not allow those witches to come in here and ruin what fragile balance we have since been able to maintain since their stupid Mage Lighting, or Thor or whatever the hell his name is decided to attempt to usurp power." Chandra listened quietly to her husbands rant and towards the end gave a somewhat disappointed look. "But Myth'ren, Sai'thyra, and Tes'myri were so looking forward to coming, and I do so miss my sisters...darling won't you reconsider?" Karnetan glared down at her and shook his head. "I am the head of this household and what I say goes, no questioning!" Chandra simply nodded her head and smiled. "I suppose you're right dear...though I do wonder what will happen when the moon doesn't rise tonight, I mean how will the workers see to bring in the harvest? And I do so worry about those shrines and temples on the coastlines...without the moon to guide the tides they very well could be washed away...not to mention the fact that without the moon most mages who happen to be dealing with the THUNDER situation will lose power...oh it's such a shame. But, as you said 'what you say goes.' I'm going to be in my room darling." She gave a knowing wink and walked out of the room.
Karnetan cringed as he realized the damages his wife could do if she withheld the moon from rising...and then realized that word would quickly get out to the peoples of Sente that it was HIS fault it had happened. "Uh...Honey! Honey I changed my mind you can bring your crazy...I mean your wonderful sisters over!!! HONEY?!"
