Making a yan baby for the event~ :squee:

I see everyone (of the two that I checked...) is making their babies out of clay or something of the sort. I however, lack materials for that so I believe I shall be making mine out of cloth and stuffing ;D♥

I can get pretty handy with a needle and thread! Also, it might get me to finally set up my sewing machine! :sweat:

This will be my journal/track sheet of making a baby of such beauty and grace~

To start off, I guess I'll need to make plans...
MS Paint time! :D I might have to make measurements for everything so I hit the minimum size, though it shouldn't be a problem.
I plan to make him out of a white t-shirt since I don't have any white material with me.. (I have patterned, just not white. :'D)
Change of plans!
I will crochet the guy out, using a head I had already made a few years back.

Step one: Assemble the materials!

The first picture is the basic white yarn that I will be using and my crochet stick. I had started crochetting a few years back but dropped it because I got board of it. I have always regretted this so I decided this is the perfect opportunity to start it up again, hopefully picking up some tricks on my way. :)

The second picture is of the already made head which was also the first thing I made when I first learned to crochet. I have no use for a random head/blob so I decided that I would use it for my baby. C: I had used blackbeads for his eyes so I will sew on/incorporate a mouth later on. His head alone is approximately 2 and a half inches so hitting the minimum should be no problem!

Step two: Whassup awkwardly shaped yan body?!


First picture is me starting off with the basic circle of six loops. ad enlarge by doubling within each loop (12)
Second: ...It gets bigger....
Third: Make it really big and start to close it so then you get the bulb. This will be baby yan's bubble butt! >:3
...There should have been a picture between here but I did most of the body while baby sitting/away form my computer. :')
Fourth: Build up the sides with singles until it's at a not-so-awkward height :lol: This picture is of my finishing it off; stuffing and almost completely closed.
Fifth: Bubble butt body complete!

I was re-watching old Pokémon episodes while I was finishing the body off :lol:
Much more bad puns than I remember :sweat:

Off to do the limbs :yes:

Step Three: Limbs, limbs, limbs.

These are the legs. I made a round of 12 loops, and went up with singles for 10 rows. I flattened the ends with an extra row. Made a second.


These are the arms. I made them flat because the rounded ones looked way too odd... I made them by making a straight row of 11 loops and just going onto its side for 4 rows. Made a second.

Step four: Add features and assemble.


Add a lovely smile and make doubly sure people know that they are lookin` at a beautiful booty. ;)


Attach head to body. Attach legs + arms to body. :)
I weaved the parts on with the extra pieces of white yarn so you can't see them! (I didn't want to break out the sewing kit.:sweat:)

Step five: You're finished! Take fancy shots. :3

Oh, this is my first yan :yes:
I plan to just sit him on my computer desk; my desk buddy.
I can't really give him away because the only person who would have any slight clue would be my sister :lol:
