It's hard to hate him because of this. He also happens to be Rei's last boyfriend. The state of their relationship at this point is complicated. It hasn't been clarified yet if the two are over or not.

His father, who should have been next in the succession, had been deemed unworthy of the position and so it had passed down to Alexis when he'd turned sixteen. In the time since he'd taken over, his family had already had a reputation, his succession only helped to raise their status in the mafia world after he'd proven himself. Alexis believes in honour, though in all honesty, the mafia works in different ways than the law does, so it stands to reason that his definition is quite different from the side of "good". Alexis is a brilliant strategist but that's not what makes him good at what he does. That would be because of his impeccable acting skills. If one were to randomly have a conversation with him on the street, Alexis would appear as a normal person, albeit a rather well read and opinionated person.

It had been awhile since he had come to the cafe, and now he was remembering why he missed it so much. The sun was bright overhead, and it was a warm clear day so far. People milled about, laughing and talking, most were highschoolers like he was, this cafe was popular, especially with the girls. He knew there was a legend about the cafe, it was said if you and your love shared the famous strawberry shortcake that the cafe was known for, your relationship would be blessed with happiness. He sighed, and shook his head. How could a simple cake do something like that? It was absurd in his eyes. He used to come here with his mother, she had believed in the myth, and they had shared a few pieces of it. Now she was gone, and he was stuck with his father.

He shook his head, and took a sip of his tea. He should be getting back to the school soon, lunch did not last forever. He went to a private school by the name of Knight Academy, and his father expected him to be the top of his class and the perfect student as well as the perfect son. It got old quickly. He saw his driver leaning up against the car, watching him. He could not go anywhere without his driver or guard, he was always watched and under a microscope. His father said it was to protect him, but he also knew it was to keep an eye on him, and make sure he didn't ruin his father's name. A sigh escaped him, and he pulled a small black book out of his backpack.

He never went anywhere without it, it held his secrets, his thoughts, his dreams and his desires. In some cases people could refer to it as his journal. He would be in deep trouble if anyone got a hold of it, especially his father or someone from school. He opened the book, jotting down a few things, before he let it slip back into his bag. He smiled, feeling a bit better. The light breeze that flew through felt good, and he closed his eyes for a moment to relish it. His mother used to say if you listened really hard you could hear voices on the wind. His mother had been quite the dreamer and free spirit. He missed her a lot, and felt more alone then ever now that she was gone. He sighed, opening his eyes, he brushed his hair out of his eye.

It was always falling over his one eye like that, and his father hated it. He was always telling Hatori he needed to get a haircut, but he liked his hair just the way it was. Others seemed to like it as well, they said it gave him a slight mysterious edge. He chuckled a bit under his breath, him mysterious. He shook his head, and fixed his glasses slightly. People of the world today were so strange, but he wondered what else was out in the world. What mysteries and secrets was it hiding that he knew nothing about? He would have given anything to be free and to be able to go out and discover what his mother seemed to know and miss while she was alive, but he knew his father would never let him go. He looked away, and stood.

Name: Rei Mikaze
Age: 24
Info: Rei is a freelance photographer and he's pretty successful as one too. When he isn't traveling for work, he works part-time at a little cafe that mostly caters to a highschool crowd. He lives alone in an apartment a couple blocks away from the cafe and seems to lead a happy life. He appears to be a kind man who is always smiling, but what could be under that smile?

Rei pulled his arms behind his head, stretching them until he heard a satisfying pop. This elicited a shudder from one of the other employees that was currently in the kitchen with him. Instead of apologizing for making his coworker feel uncomfortable, Rei chuckled. He tangled thin fingers into his long tresses and quickly braided the strands of hair together so that they wouldn't get in his way while he worked. Once done, he washed his hands before heading to the side table to look through that days menu. There was a baker at the cafe, but Rei liked to bake whenever he was in the cafe so he normally worked on the days that the baker was off work. His eyes quickly scanned the single sheet that showed the day's offerings and smiled to himself before gathering the ingredients to make the strawberry shortcake that the cafe was famous for. Honestly, even he didn't know where the rumors about the cake being able to work magic with relationships came from, but it was business. And he couldn't complain, the cake was fun to make.

He glanced at the time as he worked, going through the motions he had long since memorized after having volunteered in the cafe during his teen years. They should be ready by the time the highschool crowd got out for lunch. He rolled his head, to get the kinks out of his neck as he slid the finished products out of the oven and set them on a rack to cool. Then he automatically reached for the materials to make the decorations and the frosting. Years of practice made it so that his motions were precise and each cake looked like it had been taken right out of the photos that were printed on each menu.

Rei placed a final strawberry on top of the last cake and smiled at his work. He'd missed doing this. He had only recently gotten back from a job abroad in a desert-like country and he couldn't be happier to be back home. A glance around the kitchen told him that the other kitchen worker had left for the day which meant he'd be the only one in the kitchen that day. Well, that was fine with him. he preferred it that way. It wasn't like he was the only one left to manage the cafe anyway, there were servers who worked in the front of the house after all. Another glance at the time informed him that there was still a couple of minutes before crowds started entering the cafe. He leaned casually against the counter-top he had been working on and contemplated the small cake he had finished last. His smile dropped at the corners and became a frown as he swiped a finger through the icing, effectively ruining the perfect image. He stuck the appendage into his mouth, sucking lightly on the sugary substance.

"..." He tilted his head slightly before picking up the cake he's just ruined and taking a bite out of it. He chewed and swallowed silently. "...I don't see what's so special about them." he muttered before finishing the cake off. He walked over to the sink to wash his hands again. "...it's sweet though." He added as an afterthought to his musings aloud. Oh well. Maybe he didn't understand it but... he glanced again at the finished cakes as he slid on a pair of serving gloves... his little sister had adored the cakes. Maybe that was why he had learned to make them so well. It was all for her after all. He pulled out the plates designated for the cakes and plated them all quickly right as the bell above the door in the front signalling the beginning of the lunch hour. He snapped covers on top of the plates. They would be removed and a drizzle added before the cakes were served if they were ordered. there were never any leftovers.

Through the rest of the lunch hour Rei alternated between helping out sparingly in the front of house and preparing any food that was ordered in the back. After working here for a while, he could pick out the majority of the regular customers, so when he saw the purple-haired and eyed boy sitting by himself, Rei paused and tried to remember if he'd ever seem him before. There was something somewhat familiar about him...

Rei returned to the back and found his eyes drawn back to the strawberry cakes again. "It wouldn't hurt...I suppose." he murmured to himself before picking a plate up and popping the cover off. He offhandedly added the drizzle before bringing the plate out and snagging a small fork from the service table. He set the plate down at the boy's table right as he got up and set the fork down beside it with a smile on his face.

"Won't you have a cake before you leave?"

Hatori had not noticed the man approaching, until he sat the cake down on the table he had kust gotten up from. He looked the man over a bit, and wondered what it was for. He had not ordered it, had the man somehow known what he was thinking? He glanced at his watch for a moment, and then at the driver who had pushed away from the car and had his arms crossed watching. He sighed, looking back at the man "I shouldn't...I'll be late" he says. His father would surely throw a fit if he stepped out of line, but the thought of doing something outside of his normality was a bit alluring.

He thought about it for a moment, and then let his bag slip from his shoulder. It happened really without him thinking about it or realizing, and he found himself sitting once more. This earned him a slight look from the driver, who had expected him to come over and head back to the school. He had no intrest in hurrying back, of going back to somewhere where he had to be in terms 'perfect'. He had to watch what he said and what he did at all times, and make sure that he did not get in trouble or embarass himself or his father. He siged slightly, he was tired of it. He nodded a bit, before looking back at the man "I suppose a little while longer would do no harm."

Name: Yusuke Tsubaki
Age: 18
Info: Yusuke is an old childhood friend of Hatori's. He is a free spirit, and a slight flirt. He loves to have fun and party. He is unique and outgoing, but knows when to get serious. He is an open bi, and not afraid to flirt with both genders, he has his suspicions about Hatori, even though his friend says he is straight. He knows what Hatori's father would say, and he does not get along with the man for nothing. Hatori's father thinks he is a bad influence, but can not seem to keep them appart...Anything else you will have to find out.

Traffic was a pain in the backside. Yusuke had been sitting in it for about an hour now. He had been ment to go and see Hatori for lunch, but that seemed to be a bust now, since it was almost time for his friend to get back to school. The two went to the same school ironically, Hatori was a junior, and Yusuke was a senior. He unlike Hatori however, was not all about punctuality or appearances. He had yet to eat, and was not about to sit through the rest of the day on an empty stomach. "Hurry up.." he muttered, his fingers drumming on the windowsill. He shook his head, the car in front of him was driven by an old lady, go figure.

Leaning his head back a bit, he turned up the radio, and pulled out a cigarette. He smoked every once in awhile, mainly when he was stressed. At the moment he was annoyed with this stupid traffic, and was trying anything to get rid of the growling in his stomach. He rolled down the window, and lit it up, as the cars finally moved about an inch. He glared a bit, and rolled his eyes. He was not one usually for rhoad rage, but this was riddiculous. He pulled his phone out of his bag, shooting Hatori a quick text. It seemed it didn't matter if he wanted to head back now anyways, with traffic back up he would be late one way or another.

Oh well, might as enjoy it while he could. He smiled, taking a deep breath on the end of the ciggarette, and blowing out a ring of smoke. He tapped the steering wheel along with the beat of the song. He relaxed a bit, and this seemed to be getting slightly better. He wondered if the cafe would be busy when he eventually got there. He had thought a few times of asking Hatori to share a slice of cake with him. Ususally, it was just joking around, he didn't believe in the rumors and hype about it, but either way, the thought of it all was in its' own way romantic. He smiled a bit warmly, Hatori was more of a brother to him, but being something more wouldn't hurt either.

He was bi, and although he had his suspicions about Hatori, the other insisted he was straight. Yusuke blamed it on Mr. Krieos, the man was a pain in the ass. He would throw a fit if Hatori came out as being bi or gay. Yusuke rolled his eyes, the two had never gotten along, since according to Hatori's dad, Yusuke was a bad influence. So he was a bit rebellious, and outgoing, bold and liked to have fun, did that suddenly make him a bad guy? That guy was the worst, and he felt bad for Hatori having to deal with that. He had thought about asking Hatori to come live with him a few times, since he lived on his own. His parents were Archeologists.

They were gone most of the time, and being eighteen, he had no trouble with it. He had thought about getting a second job at the cafe, since right now he worked at a car shop downtown. Working at Hatori and his favorite cafe was an appealing idea. The traffic finally began to move, and he headed towards the cafe. Pulling in the parkinglot, he noticed Hatori's driver still there. So his friend was still here ? That made things more fun. He smiled, and got out, putting his cigarette out, he headed around to look for his friend.

Rei followed the younger male's line of vision to see a man standing outside, staring pointedly at the student. Hmm...a rich kid then? Rei looked away from the man again, it was no matter to him what kind of people the customers were outside of the cafe as long as they didn't disrupt the atmosphere of the cafe. When the boy seemed hesitant Rei only smiled gently, ready to offer to box the cake for him when the boy sat down.

"It's alright to make your own decisions sometimes." Rei murmured, the gentle smile on his lips never leaving. "If you need anything else I'll be in the back. You can ask any of the servers for me, they'll know who I am." He added, inclining his head before turning on his heels and making his way back to the kitchens. He had to stop often though to decline requests to take photos with a couple of the female students. He might have been a photographer, but there was a reason he was the one behind the camera and not in front of it.

It was nice to interact with customers like this. It was a more intimate setting and much more lighthearted than his normal professional work. He could relax in this kind of atmosphere. As he was about to step back into the kitchen he heard someone call his name and he turned his head to look over his shoulder to see one of the servers waving him over from the front desk. It was probably time for her break and she wanted him to cover for her or something...He cast a look at the kitchens, wanting nothing more than to disappear back into the area so that he could bake some more but turned despite his own feelings and headed over to the girl with the ever present smile on his lips. Baking could wait a little longer.

Hatori picked up his fork, and lightly poked at the cake. His appetite really wasn't there, but he did not want to be rude. He took a small bite, and memories flowed back into his mind. It was the same as when he had come with his mother. He sighed, and sat his fork down, glancing up after a moment as he noticed Yusuke waving at him and walking over. So his friend had managed to make it after all. He smiled, glad to see that his friend had finally made it. They were supposed to have had lunch together, but the other had been late. It was better late then never. He smiled.

Yusuke smiled, and walked over to the table where his Hatori was sitting. Sliding into the chair across from him he smiles. "Hey you, good to see that your still here, though I am a bit surprised" he was not one to know that Hatori would be late. It was a bit refreshing though, that the other was finally making some choices for himself. He leaned back in his chair, crossing his legs, and placing his hands behind his head. He waited for a responce, as his eyes were drawn a bit around the cafe.

Hatori smiled, and shrugged a bit as his friend spoke. "I decided to stay a bit, and it is a good thing I did it seems" he says, "if I had left, I would have missed you." He gave a slight laugh, and nudged the cake in his direction. "Hungry?" he asks. He noticed his friend's wandering eyes, Yusuke was always the one for curiosity and for knowing his surroundings. It made sense, though also made Hatori want to ask a few times what was going throuh his mind as his eyes scanned over the people within the cafe.

Yusuke scanned the people one by one, none of them seemed really to stand out to him, so he payed barley any attention to them at all. When Hatori spoke howeveer, offering him the cake he had, his eyes flickered back to the table. His heart jumpped a little as he realized it was the strawberry one. He couldn't help but think that it was ironic that it was the one he had been thinking about in the car just a bit earlier. He nodded, and picked up the other fork, taking a small bite. Strawberries were Yusuke's favorite, and he knew Hatori was fond of them to. This was turning into a good day.

Rei made quick work of the display at the front desk, rearranging the cakes on display so that they looked nicer and not cluttered. He hummed to himself as he slid the last cake into place and straightened up from behind the counter, brushing his braid back over his shoulder as it had swung to his frontside when he had bent to reach the lower shelves. It was a lot more work than it looked to work in a cafe like this. He brushed his hands together before closing the display case and then leaning against the top, surveying the rest of the cafe.

The space before him was slowly emptying now, the lunch hour was about up, the students were all starting to trickle back to their school. Maybe he'd take a break then and head back to his apartment to develop a couple of the photos he had taken during the few hours he'd had leisurely time abroad. There wouldn't really be a need for him to hang around again until after the school hours were over. He even entertained the thought of calling his parents up for a few seconds before chuckling at his thoughts. Right, like he would ever willingly call those people.

"Mm...what to do..." he mumbled to himself as his eyes landed once more on the table he had brought a cake over to. The smile on his face stretched a little. So it had been a good idea to give the male a cake, it seemed to have kept him around long enough for his companion to show up.

Yusuke felt the two of them being watched a bit, and slowly turned his attention to the man at the counter. He wondered who he was, he was cute, but why was he watching them? He looked back at Hatori for a moment. "Hey, you know him?" he asked the other male. He wondered if he did, he could give the other his number. The playful thought on his mind brought a smile to his lips. He shook his head a bit at his own thought, and took another bite of cake. He watched a bit as Hatori poked his fork into the strawberry on top, and bit into it.

"Do I know who?" Hatori asked, before looking where his friend had. Seeing the man, he looked back and shook his head. "No, he must work here, he was the one who brought over the cake" he says. "Speaking of which" he opened his bag, retrieving his wallet. He took out the ammount that would cover the cake, and sat it in the little book that held the bill and the money for his tea as well. He smiled a bit, as he watched Yusuke take a bite of whipped cream and frosting. He resisted the urge to laugh a little at his friend.

Oops, looks like he'd been caught looking. Rei raised a hand and gave a short wave, chuckling again at his silliness. He straightened up and nodded as the girl who had stepped out apologized as she returned to her spot. She'd had to take a phone call from her parents... huh, maybe that's why he'd been considering calling his own. He stepped out so that she could take her spot again and placed his hands on his hips, pursing his lips slightly, well he might as well help clean up he supposed.

After stopping in the kitchen to grab a towel and a bin to put dirty dishes in, he stepped back out and started wiping the tables down, piling the dishes and glasses neatly in the bin whenever he found a table that still had them. He was slowly making his way towards the table where the two males sat he realized. How strange. He set the bin down on the table he had just cleaned and hung the towel on the side, mulling over whether or not to just head over there before one of the other servers did. Then his eyes landed on the little folder that they used to give the patrons their bills. Eh, good enough reason for him.

"So I see you were waiting for a friend then?" he asked in a light tone as he stopped next to the table, addressing the darker haired boy before turning to the lighter haired male. "Hello." He smiled before picking up the folder and flipping it open. He made a sound of disapproval before removing some money and setting it back on the table, sliding it over to the darker haired male. "That's too much. You only ordered tea after all."

Hatori looked at the man and nodded at the comment about waiting for a friend. When he returned some of the money Hatori looked up at him. "Yes, but I would hate to get you in trouble.." he says, meaning for the cake. He wondered for a moment if the other was allowed to do that. He was not the type to wish anything ill on anyone. He felt a slight nudge at his leg, and looked up to see his friend giving him a slight look. He rolled his eyes. "I'm Hatori by the way, and my friend here is Yusuke" he says, nodding over at Yusuke who gave a slight wave and a smile.

He knew they were late, glancing at his watch, but he did not care at the moment. It was nice to cut loose, but he wondered if they were disruppting the man. He seemed to be wanting to clean up, and the two of them were really the only ones left over from the lunch rush. He suddenly felt a tad embarassed, and stood. "Sorry, if we are intruding we will go, I'm sure you will want to finish up" Yusuke seemed to roll his own eyes at this and stood as well. He moved an arm loosly around Hatori's waist and Hatori resisted the urge for the moment to smack him.

"My friend means it was nice talking to you, and although we do not want to impose it's nice to talk to someone else for a change" Yusuke says, pulling Hatori a tad bit closer. He could see the look in the other's eyes but it only made him smile. This was enjoyable indeed. He wondered how old the man was, who he was and why he would work at a place like this. He kept the curiosity to himself for a change, as to not embarass Hatori to much at one time, though he usually would have had no problem with it. He glanced at the other boy, winking a bit.

"I wouldn't get in trouble, if anything, the owner will just think I ate it." Rei laughed out. "I bake the cakes so it's not like she knows how many are for sale." He explained, as he tucked the little folder into the pocket of the apron he wore around his waist. As Hatori introduced himself and Yusuke, Rei tucked their names into his memory and nodded. "It's nice to meet the both of you. I'm a part-time worker here, name's Rei." He smiled back at Yusuke and raised his hand to wave back, chuckling again.

Out of the corner of his eye he noticed Hatori glancing at the time. "You aren't intruding at all actually. I just thought I'd come see if everything was alright since I was headed in this direction anyway." He made a humming sound in the back of his throat as he thought, turning his head to glance at the clock perched against the wall. "I do like getting to know the patrons of the cafe, but it looks like you'll be late for your classes?" He turned back to the two. "I do apologize if I've made you late for classes. If you would like to talk again, I'll probably still be around here after you get out of classes."

Name: Arianna "Ari" Tsubaki
Age: 19
Info: Ari is a first year art university student. She is also the owner of the cafe where Rei works, she inherited it from her grandmother, who raised her since Ari's parents' jobs required them to be all over the place. They called periodically to check in and made sure to get the same vacation times so that the three of them could spend some time together. She's a pretty straightforward person and though she doesn't act it nor dress it, she is from a rich family. Her parents and grandparents never believed in the strict teachings of the others of the upper class so Ari was raised as a free-spirited child.

Ahhh, she was late! She couldn't believe it, it was the first day Rei would be in the shop after his latest project and she was running late to see him! Stupid alarm clock didn't go off at the right time. Ari pouted as she tapped her fingers in an incessant staccato against the armrest as she stared out the window of the car, wishing the light would change already so that she could get to the cafe faster. Her driver took one look at her irritated form and shook his head, chuckling.

Ari turned to him and frowned, "Aww, don't you laugh at me too. Everybody was teasing me about it this morning." she whined before crossing her arms and sitting back in her seat, only to shoot forward and raise her hands into the air, squealing when the light finally changed.

"Go! Go! Go!" she chanted. Laughter slipped from the driver once again as he followed the mistress' command and drove forward. It was probably a good thing there wasn't much traffic to deal with at this time.

When she finally got to the cafe, Ari burst through the doors, startling the poor girl at the front desk buit she didn't pause to even make sure she was fine as she had spotted the telltale long green hair and instantly ran for her older friend.

"REI!" she shouted, throwing her arms around the male, nearly causing him to topple over at the combined force of her weight and momentum slammed into him unexpectedly.

"It's nice to see you too Arianna." Rei responded calmly, giving Hatori and Yusuke an apologetic smile. "I do apologize, she's always been this way unfortunately. My work takes me away for erratic time periods so she insists on coming in to see me when I am here."

Ari looked over her shoulder to see who Rei was speaking to and her eyes sparkled. "Ooh, cute guys~" She instantly commented, making Rei sigh. Ari looked up at him and grinned slyly. "Looking for a boyfriend already Rei~?" she purred out.

Rei spluttered at Ari's question, his face instantly turning red as a blush painted his cheeks. "A-Arianna!"

"Whaaaat? It's my payback since you always call me Arianna." She huffed before finally releasing the hug she had around his middle and turned to grin at the two boys. "I'm Arianna, but you can call me Ari. It's nice to meet you."

Rei shook his head slightly as he ran a gloved hand through his bangs. "And unfortunately she is also the owner of this cafe." he tacked on, much to Ari's annoyance.

(You gave her the same last name as Yusuke lol)

Hatori nodded a bit, and gave a small smile. He saw that Yusuke seemed happy as well and smiled as well. He was about to answer when the female came in and hugged the man. When she made the comment about the two of them being cute and the boyfriend thing, he felt himself turn a bit red as well. Yusuke on the other hand laughed, seeming to find the entire thing funny. He was the more laid back one and the one who loved to have fun, so he was enjoying all of this Hatori guessed. He smiled a bit, it was nice to see him smile, and it was good to see that people cared about eachother still, like the owner and Rei.

She looked so young, it was surprising to see such a young looking female the head of the cafe. Then again, it was a popular place and did seem to connect with the younger generation, so it was understandable. He felt his phone vinrate, and looked at it. It was his driver "I'll be right back." He stepped away to answer it. "What?" he asks. "Your late sir, are you planning to be much longer? I can call your father if something is wrong" he says. He sighs a bit "I am fine, and I can take care of everything, don't worry I'll be out in awhile" he says. "Verywell" the driver says. He shook his head, and hung up.

Yusuke watched as the girl hugged the waiter, as she introduced herself he smiled. "It's a pleasure to meet you" he says, taking her hand and lightly kissing it. He had the potential to be a gentleman when he wanted to be. When the boyfriend comment was made and the two of them were called cute, he laughed warmly and gave a slight wink. "You never know" he teased a bit, but then glanced as Hatori stepped away to answer a ccall. He wondered who it was, but Hatori did not seem happy with the call. He sighed a bit, glancing out the window at the driver on his phone. Damn, could they not give Hatori a break?

He was tempted to go over and hang up the phone for him, but he figured that would only cause more problems in the end. He resisted, and turned back to the female. "So, what do you do? On your time of that causes you to go away for so long and keep the lady waiting?" he asked, slightly teasing. He was curious about what the other did, and he was curious about the man in general. He slid his hands into his pockets, and watched the two of them for a moment. She seemed carefree and nice, they also seemed close. That was nice, he was tempted to ask a few other things, but kept them to himself for now. He did not want to overpower them.

(omg, oops, i didn't even realize xD Should I change it? Haha )

Ari giggled when her hand was kissed. What a gentlemen, haha. "Well I'm a university student, so I'm not around as often as I'd like. Rei helps me look after the place whenever he has time." Ari said, smiling brightly at the light haired male. She gave his companion a curious look when he stepped away to answer a call before turning to Rei to let him answer.

Rei sighed and folded his arms across his chest, considering his words before he said them. "Like I said earlier, i work part-time in this cafe. I'm actually a self-employed photographer. I get some decent work but most of it tends to be overseas." he slowly said, wondering if he should say more. "I used to volunteer here when i was younger and Arianna's grandma ran the place, it's like a second home, so I continued coming in to help out when Arianna was given ownership." and then Rei smiled again. "You really shouldn't encourage her teasing. She'll take you seriously." he said, referring back to the boyfriend topic. "She's been insisting that i find someone after a...ah...previous incident." It had been inevitable that Ari would find out about that incident seeing as she took to hanging around him during her free time. He hadn't meant to bring it up but with Ari's teasing, he felt he should explain just a little bit.

As Rei spoke with the lighter haired male, Ari decided to head over to the darker haired male's side and peered over his shoulder, uttering a quick greeting in his ear. "Hi~" She quickly backed up a few steps, knowing that she was probably invading in his personal space. Even if she didn't act it, she was sensitive about those kinds of things. With Rei it was different, he'd practically helped raise her when he was in his teens and she was still a child. "Is something wrong?" she asked. She didn't mean to pry, but she didn't like seeing others upset or uncomfortable, so she often tried to help them. It was something she'd picked up from her kind grandmother.

(lol, nah no one will probrably notice XD..well...unless they read our comments x.x)

Yusuke could tell that the other was not to keen on talking about himslf, so he did not push the issue. He gave a slight nod, and looked over as the female went to Hatori. He turned his attention back to Rei, and changed the subject. "It's good that you've helped her..I was thinking about taking a job here, but I'm not even sure if your highering" he gave a slight laugh. He tilted his head a bit. "Hatori and I have been coming here for awhile, and he used to visit with his mother, guess we should really pay more attention" he reached up with one hand, lightly running through his hair.

He wondered what the other was thinking at the moment. He seemed a bit more then off about the comments with the love life thing. He could understand that, considering that one of the hardest things in life was love. He had had a few tough times with love in his past, and many of them he would not liked to of relive. He sighed a bit, feeling his eyes lower a bit. "Anyways, if you are highering, I would like to apply, and it would possibly in fact give us more time to talk" he says smiling, looking up at him again. He was good at quickly composing himself, even in the hardest situations and when his insides were turning like they were now.

Hatori jumped slightly, turning as the girl spoke in his ear. He had been staring at his phone for a moment, and now his heart was racing a bit. When she asked if something was wrong he shook his head. "No, just the usual" he says, knowing she would not know quite what the usual was, but he did not want to drag her into his affairs. He sighed a bit, and then smiled, looking around. "So, you run this place? That's quite a feat..and impressive" he says. "My mother used to bring me here a lot, and now it's just Yusuke and me...I think we saw you a few times, but I never gave much thought about it, I'm sorry" he says.

He felt a bit embarassed now, rubbing the back of his neck. He blushed slightly. His smile stayed a bit, and he took a breath. "I am glad to finally get to meet you however, my name is Hatori, and my friend over there is Yusuke" he says, "we introduced ourselves to Rei, and it is only appropriate since you gave us your name we return the favor." He smiles once more, and took a breath. It was nice to meet new people, and those who were passionate like she seemed to be. She reminded him a bit of Yusuke.

"A job..." Rei put a hand to his chin, running over the list of names he had looked over yesterday evening. "We don't really hire much, but I think we could do with the extra help. It'd be nice to have someone helping out in the back. Most of the time it's just the main baker and I, if I'm not running around in the front of house." Truth was, Rei had managed to scare the rest of the kitchen workers away. It wasn't like he did it on purpose, just something about him having a habit of thinking aloud seemed to scare them off. Okay maybe the topics he chose to wonder aloud about weren't exactly appropriate but...well eh, wasn't entirely his fault. He'd been brought up in a messed up household.

"I'd be willing to hire you, haha. I doubt Arianna would mind." Rei glanced to the girl and gave a slight shrug. "Yea..." he mumbled. And then a large smile appeared on his lips. "Oh! that's where I recognized Hatori from. I used to work here when i was a teen. I must have seen him then. But I'm not surprised that you don't know me. These last couple of years have been...eh... rough on me I guess? i wasn't around much." Rei said his finger now absently tapping against his chin. Now if only he could remember where they stored the employee forms... He really didn't mind hiring Yusuke, it was nice seeing somebody wanting to help out in this place after having been a customer for so long there.

Ari didn't push it when he switched topics, choosing instead to return his smile. "It's alright that you never spoke to me then. i was incredibly shy back then, haha. I think the only people I was close with were my Grandmama and Rei, but between you and me it's cause he acted more like my dad then a friend. He took care of me whenever my Grandmama was sick or too busy." She could remember him chastising her whenever she ran in the rain but then would join in puddle jumping if she asked him too. Rei had been really good to her, and she wished nothing but the best for him, since he seemed to be plagued with nothing but misfortunes when it came to his personal life...especially with his sister. Ari quickly shook the thoughts from her mind, no, she couldn't even touch that subject with him.

"Impressive? Do you really think so?" Ari turned so she could survey the place that she'd grown up in. "I don't think of it as a job...I think that's my biggest advantage. It's something that I love and treasure so it could never be work for me..." She turned back abruptly to face Hatori, suddenly serious. "If what you're doing isn't something that makes you happy, it'll never be something you'll be successful in. Sure, you might be able to make a ton of money...but what's money if you aren't happy?" Then she switched gears, smiling apologetically. "I'm sorry, it's just...that's something my Grandmama used to tell me all the time. I figured I should share her wisdom, you know?" then she leaned forward and pulled Hatori into a hug. "It's wonderful to meet you as well." She let go of him after a brief hug and laughed softly. "I'm sorry if that, it was uncalled for, neh?"

Yusuke smiled, and nodded. He was glad the other was willing, and that the owner would potentially be as well. When he spoke about knowing Hatori, and then the past few years being rough, Yusuke's smile dropped a little bit. His curiosity made him wonder a bit about what had happened to the other. He figured it was best not to ask, he did not want to anger him. He bit his lip instead, the curiosity and urge to ask eating at him, but he did his best to push it away. Instead he turned his attention onto something else. He had said something about the baker. "So I'm guessing it is you who made the cakes today" he smiles "their good, but the rumors about them have gotten a bit out of hand." He knew the girls at school were so giddy all the time about sharing them with some guy they were in love with or thought they loved. He rolled his eyes a bit, teenage girls were an odd bunch in his mind.

Hatori blinked slightly. The girl seemed to hop around a lot in her words, but then again he wondered if he did to? He shook his head, focusing on what she was talking about. He listened to the words that she said her grandmother used to say, and then was slightly caught off guard by the hug. "No, it..it's fine, and your grandmother seems like she was a very wise woman...she is right, and I suppose I have yet to find my happiness though..." he said the last part more to himself then her. Passing her, he took her hand "we should get back, Yusuke can be a bit odd if I leave him alone with another to long" he laughed a bit. He wondered if Yusuke had begun flirting yet, or if the other was finally minding his manners. He knew Yusuke was a good guy, but his mouth, head and a few other things tended to work faster then his actual brain and his heart. He had forgotten about school and his father for the moment, his smile real now.

Rei noticed the smile dwindle on Yusuke's face, but he didn't comment on it. Instead he tilted his head to the side, listening quietly as the younger male spoke. "Yea, I think they have, honestly, I have no idea how the rumors got started anyway. They've just always seemed to be around." He said before chuckling again "I did make today's cakes, thank you." He gave up on trying to remember where the forms were stored and instead made a note to ask Ari to pull out a couple for him, just in case. "I can teach you how to make them sometime, after you get the hang of working around here." He offered. Not many took him up on the offer, and those who did found out the hard way that Rei didn't always have a sense of personal space, not like Ari did anyway.

Ari was the type of person who understood the need for personal space though she would ignore it sometimes if she thought the other person needed a hug or something of the like. Rei on the other hand just didn't seem to understand the concept of personal space when he was in his element. What ensued were a lot of awkward moments in the kitchen when past workers would just freeze up as Rei was practically o top of them reaching for an ingredient or other thing. This of course would lead to Rei kicking them out of the kitchen. Luckily Ari didn't know that that was why the kitchen was always so empty. It seemed that Rei actually made some sort of effort not to scare off the head baker, since he was still around.

"If you have time after school, you can come pick up the forms to fill out then. I can't seem to remember where they're kept right now." Rei continued, laughing once more at his forgetfulness. Then he held out his hand with a gentle smile. "I look forward to working with you then Yusuke."

"She was." Ari smiled brightly. Her Grandmama had been the wisest person she'd known, but then that could have been her own bias speaking. She had been really close with the old woman after all. When Hatori took her hand, Ari couldn't help the light blush that covered her cheeks. She might not have been the shy child she had been before, but something like holding hands with a boy always made her feel just a tad bit of that shyness again.

"I wouldn't worry too much. Rei is big boy, he can handle himself." Ari laughed out, twining her fingers with Hatori's, as was her normal habit whenever she held hands with someone. "He doesn't know that I know, but he has his odd habits too. It's a wonder to me that he even has friends with the amount of workers he scares off, haha, but don't tell him I said that. He'd be upset if he knew that I actually know the reason why the employees don't like working in the kitchen whenever he's around." She fell into step beside Hatori, keeping pace with him her smile unwavering.

Yusuke smiled at the offer, he wouldn't have minded working with the guy, it would give him a chance to learn a bit more about him and things around here. By now the four of them were the only ones left after the main lunch rush, but he barley noticed really. It was nice to just talk, although the mention of school made him glance at the time finally. They were already going to be really late, and that would not be good...for Hator's rep at least. He took the other's hand, and moved a bit closer before shaking it. "It was a pleasure to meet you, and I look forward to working with you as well" he says with a slight playful wink. It was innocent enough...for now anyways.

Yusuke was confident in who he was and his sexuality. That did not mean he was the type to force it on someone. He might of tried his hand at flirting a few times, but it depended on how it went over. He usually got a sense of how people would feel or act, as well as what they were into. If he felt it would be pointless or make the other uncomfortable or not like it, he would easily back off. He tended to get the hint. He smiled, and then walked over to Hatori, wrapping his arms around him a bit. "we should get going for now, before you get in trouble back at school or with your dad, unless you want to skip the rest of the day" he smiled "I'm sure we could find...something to do."

Hatori smiled a bit, and nodded. "everyone has their good and bad habits, so there is no shame in it" he says, before feeling arms wrap around him. He looked up at Yusuke, and listened to his comments. The possible suggestions behind finding 'something' to do made a slight blush form on his cheeks. Yusuke always knew how to get to Hatori, and he could be such a perve sometimes. elbowing him, Hatori pulled aways a bit "your so weird...but your right." He sighs, turning to the other two "we should get back to school, before we get in trouble. He knew Yusuke would return, and most likely he would be with him, but for now they had to get going.

He could just imagine how angry his father was going to be already, and that the driver had already contacted him, dispite what Hatori had said. He sighed a bit, he would have been happier if he had been born into some other family, but you could not choose who your family was. He had been happier when his mother was alive, but now that it was just him and his father, things were a bit more hectic then they had been before. He takes a bit of a breath, and looks over at the other two.

Rei nodded and only chuckled when Yusuke winked at him. The younger male was certainly interesting. He tucked his hands into his pockets when Yusuke went to intercept Hatori and Ari. It'd be nice to have a new face working around here...though if Rei really thought about it, a lot of the workers were new faces. Hmm...he guessed his reputation preceded him in this cafe as most of the new workers already knew not to be in the kitchen with him. he almost laughed again at the thought.

Ari took her hand from Hatori's when Yusuke wrapped his arm around the dark haired boy and skipped back to Rei's side, throwing her arms around the elder's middle. "We're sorry for keeping you for so long." She said, turning her head so she was looking at them. Rei had taken one hand out of his pocket and wrapped his arm loosely around the girl's shoulders and the both of them smiled at the boys, Ari's a happy smile with a sparkle in her eyes while Rei's was more gentle. "But feel free to come back soon~ And if you do get in trouble, you can tell them to come speak to me about it. I can deal with anybody." Ari nodded to add extra emphasis to her words.

Rei chuckled lightly at Ari's choice in words. "We'll see you after school hours Yusuke...and Hatori as well if you will be visiting again." he said, "And really, if you get any problems because you're late, do refer them to us. I'm sure we can find some sort of way to reason with your higher ups." Rei then disentangled himself from Ari to turn back to cleaning up the rest of the tables only to have Ari attach to his back, giggling. Rei rolled his eyes but didn't make her let go of him, instead continuing on as if he didn't have a university student attached to his back.

The two nodded, and soon parted from the cafe. Getting to the school, they were late just as they had predicted. Yusuke was not bummed much about the usual detention, but for Hatori, the teachers were very disappointed in him. They said they would be calling his father, but let him off for the moment with a warning. He felt bad about the difference between what he and his friend got, but Yusuke told him it was nothing and that he was glad that he would be alright. Hatori decided it would be best to go straight home after school instead of back to the cafe, in case his father had already been contacted. The next day being Saturday, he agreed to go back with Yusuke, and if they were highering he wouldn't have minded helping out, or just sticking around for Yusuke. Either way it sounded nice, but for now he had his father to face. He was not looking forward to that at all.

Yusuke was not surprised nor angry at the sentancing that Hatori got. He was their favorite student, but when it came down to detention or facing Hatori's father, Yusuke would have chosen the detention any day. He sighed, tapping his pen on the desk, gaining him a few glances from the other students in the room. He glared at the clock, wishing the time would hurry up. He was annoyed with making the people he was trying to get a job with wait. He knew they had told them to contact them if they got in trouble, but Yusuke did not want to bother them, plus he was used to it and the teachers were used to him getting in trouble as well. When the teacher finally glanced up at the clock it was ten after four. He glanced at his watch. He told them they could go early, since he had somewhere to be, and Yusuke was up and out the door before he could change his mind or tell them otherwise.

He got into his car, tapping his foot a bit all the way out of the school and onto the rhoad. The time the cafe closed had escaped him, and he was hoping he was not to late nor would they be mad with him showing up to late. They didn't have much of a dinner rush, it was normally a breakfast and lunch place, with people coming and going through the day. Nights saw few guests if any before closing, since most people either stayed home for dinner or went out to an actual reasturant. He sighed, pulling into the parkinglot finally, he saw very few cars. He pleaded things would go alright, as he stepped out from the car and locked the doors. He pushed his hands into his pockets, and made his way towards the doors.

Despite Ari's whining, Rei made her stay at the cafe as he went home right after cleaning up the rest of the stuff from the lunch rush. He promised to be back before classes let out to help as he left through the front door. Stretching once more, he tucked his hands into the pockets of the jacket he wore, having changed out of the work uniform.

As he walked, he absentmindedly pulled the hairtie from the bottom of his braid, running his hands through his hair to pull it out of the braid. The long strands fell to just slightly past his bottom and he shook his head slightly before continuing on the walk back to his apartment. The hours passed quickly as he spent the time in his homemade dark room. Finally, he clipped the last print up to dry and stared pensively at his work. Maybe after they were dry he could frame a couple and let Ari decorate the cafe with them.

He exited the dark room, blinking at the white lights that filled his apartment and quickly closed the door behind him, careful not to let too much light enter the room. He cracked his knuckles as he stepped into the kitchenette area and headed to the sink to wash his hands. he glanced at the clock and realized that he should probably head back out. He pulled his jacket back on and left his apartment, locking the door behind him. He heard some giggling and turned to find his neighbor's children staring at him.

"Hello." he greeted them, looking past the little girls to find his neighbor smiling at him as well. "Good afternoon." he greeted her. The two of them exchanged some idle chatter as the little girls tugged and played with Rei's hair. He didn't mind much, his hair was long enough and they were young enough for it not to hurt. "Here you go little ones." He crouched to their level and put his hand into one of his pockets. "Can you guess what i have for you?" They squealed and started calling out random things making their mother and Rei both laugh. He pulled his hand back out and gave both of them a lollipop before bidding his neighbor a good day and quickly descending the stairs.

It was a quick walk down a couple of streets before the cafe came into view. And almost as soon as he was through the door he found the bubbly university student attached to his middle once more.

For her part, Ari did actually do her job despite what her image might have seemed. She was rubbish at baking but thankfully Rei had already prepared everything so all she really had to do was put things together and help serve them. For the most part she just greeted guests and walked around greeting the regulars and meeting new customers as well. She was a people person, so this kind of environment was good for her bubbly personality.

As the hours passed she started glancing out the window more often, wanting to be the first to greet Rei when he got back. She'd finished classes really early that day, and was she glad she did. She normally wasn't so clingy, but she hadn't seen Rei for a good while, and he hadn't called her during this last trip so she felt rather neglected by the man that had taken care of her when she was a child. It was only a natural reaction, she had reasoned in her mind. So when she did see him, she instantly threw her arms around him in a hug, eliciting laughter from the few customers that were still there.

The after school rush had cleared out an hour earlier and the last employee had just left as Rei wiped down the final table. Ari was seated at a table next to the window, just watching Rei work, her hands folded in her lap, a contemplative look on her face. Rei had looked to her a few times as he cleaned but said nothing. Now that he was done though...

He took a quick trip into the kitchen to drop off the towel and then quickly threw together three drinks. He wasn't sure what Yusuke liked so he just picked a random item off the menu. He brought all three drinks out and set them down at the table that Ari was seated at. She counted the cups with her eyes and then grinned at Rei.

"You trust him enough to make him something even before he gets here?"

"He didn't seem like the kind of guy who would flake out. He seemed earnest enough asking for a job."

"Is that why you said you'd give him one? Even though you already knew that we already had a full staff?"

Rei quirked an eyebrow slightly but his gentle smile didn't changed even as Ari leaned forward with a suggestive smile on her face.

"Sooo~ I was right about you looking for a boyfriend then~?"

Rei sighed, his smile seemingly more forced now. "Do not get me wrong Arianna. He's a nice guy...but he doesn't know me, nor I him."

Arianna pouted as she leaned back in her seat. "Well, if he is interested, would you at least give him a chance?"

Rei raised his cup to his mouth and took a sip of the special brew he alone knew how to make. It was a mix of flavors that calmed him. "We shall see." was his soft response. And when Ari frowned at him, he smiled back, but said no more on the matter. Instead the two of them settled back into silence, Rei enjoying his tea and Ari enjoying her green tea latte, waiting for the younger male to show up.

Yusuke took a breath, pausing slightly before he opened the doors. He was about to look around or say something, when he noticed the two sitting at one of the tables watching out the window. He rubbed the back of his neck a bit. "Ah...I really am that late then.." he sighed a bit, "sorry, I would have been here sooner if it wasn't for detention and all..." He felt bad now, making them wait on him. He felt a slight pang at his heart, but brushed it off as soon as it had come. Was he to late? Would they refuse him because of it? A slight flutter of embarassment and nerves bubbled up into his chest. He kept them at bay, and did not let them wreck his composure. He was only human though, and although he was good at keeping his feelings hidden, did not mean they were not there, nor did it make them go away. He suddenly wished Hatori was there with him.

The other always had a natural calming affect on Yusuke. Like he was giving him strength, and Yusuke felt a lot more confident and ready for anything. On his own, things were a bit more real, at least he was not one on one, he was more comfortable with people around. The less people, the more personal it got. One on one, you only had the other person to focus on in your meeting and conversation. Yusuke was very uncomfortable in those situations, he had a lot he would have rather kept put to rest. If those around him trult listened, he did not talk about himself or his life much. He usually kept the conversation on someone or something else. Now however, it was only the three of them. That would be enough, as long as it stayed three, or if he had to go home, he would do that to. He hoped he wasn't to late.

Rei turned away from the window at the bells chiming as the door was opened and smiled when he saw Yusuke enter. He set his cup down and motioned for Yusuke to take the third seat at the table that he and Ari were occupying. "There you are." he said. He glanced at the time and mentally calculated how long had passed and shook his head. "Did you get detention Yusuke?" That was the only explanation that he could come up with and he didn't think that Yusuke would purposely come late to their meeting.

Ari hadn't actually heard the bells since she had been thinking about an assignment she needed to finish for class the next day, but quickly turned when Rei started talking. She grinned at the sight of the younger male and waved with one hand, as the other was still holding onto her latte. Rei generally knew what he was doing when he put his trust into someone, and it seemed that he hadn't been wrong this time either. It was nice to meet someone who could keep promises. She set her cup down and hopped out of her seat, motioning for Yusuke to sit as she made her way to the office to grab the forms that he needed to fill out if he wanted to work in the café.
