...after all, how could one blind boy change the world?

Hesitantly, Rory opened his eyes. When the world around him remained black, he sighed, but whether it was one of relief, he did not know.

He stood with a practiced ease, having learned to do simple things without the help of another person. He did, however, keep one hand in front of him as he searched the ground for his walking stick, and when he found it, walked quietly out of the door, the stick pointed at a slight angle in front of him. Following the noise, he made his way to the front room of the house, where everyone was gathered. The room came to a quiet as the thumping of his walking stick was heard, and once he stopped, he was certain each of his family members was looking at him.

"Rory?" His mother questioned, and Rory turned in the direction of her voice. With a struggle, he opened his eyes enough for her to see them, the white irises with black rings around the outside, which was his silent signal. A sigh reverberated around the room, and Rory took a place on the nearest seat. Oliver set him up a plate full of deer's meat, and he ate until he felt his stomach would burst. Then, he stood. "What are you planning on doing today, Rory?" His father asked, to which Rory smiled. Without answering, he went back to his small, empty room, and redressed in different cloths. Seeing as his wardrobe was compiled of only black and dark brown pants and different colored tunics, he didn't have trouble or any worries about matching.

He explained to his brother that he was going to the center of town, since his mother was nowhere around. He also declined the offer that Oliver go with him. Satisfied that someone knew of his whereabouts, he set out in a direction he guessed was mostly south.

After about a mile and a half of walking, he heard the bustling of commoners as they rushed to and fro, in and out of the diner, the bar, and various tents, and redirected himself to the fountains. He sat directly to the left of his good friend, Armen, with whom he exchanged a pile of coins for a pearl necklace that he had felt weeks before. With enough time, he had gathered enough to buy it for his mother. As the exchange ended, he smiled. He'd finally get to pay her back for everything she'd done for him.

Lita was amongst the hustle and bustle as usual, she was in a different village once more. This village seemed to be much more prosperous than the few she had come across on her travels. The fields were green and there was cool, clean water to drink from the springs. She saw many with the same occupation as her, some sold food, some cloth and others little trinkets. What did Lita sell? Why anything and everything of course! She was a jack of all trades, her business and position were never gauranteed. One day she would be selling precious stones which she had collected from caves and the next day it could've been old knives that she had picked up from dead bodies of soldiers.

The auburn haired girl wandered around the Saturday market, it sure was busy today. Lita had already been at this village for about a week, she always finished selling her wares and then moved on from that town. Though she would never admit it, Lita was a miser. If someone threatened of walking away from the deal Lita would instantly succumb and sell it for the price that they demanded. "How much for that?" Lita asked a scrawny looking lady, it was beautiful. There was a single ruby stone set amongst a pool of gold. It was the most delicate looking jewelry Lita had come across. It seemed to call out to her, the way the sun reflected off of the ruby made it shimmer a dark red that instantly seemed to remind her of blood. Lita was mesmerized, her eyes could not be ripped away from the necklace.

The lady seemed to notice Lita's interest in the necklace and smiled, the corners of her mouth lifted up into a toothless grin. "One gold coin and two silvers" she said slyly. Lita bit her lower lip in despair, annoyed she held made a grab for the pouch that lay slung across her waist. With a quick glance inside she pulled out a gold, silver and bronze. She held it out to the lady with a shrug. Lita could sense the desperation for coins from her, as she was about to withdraw her money clench fist back the lady stopped her. Satisfied, Lita dropped the money in her hand and took the necklace in exchange.

Looking up towards the sky Lita realized it was to be sunset soon, she put the necklace on and turned towards a covered stall. Lifting the covers she took a place behind, there was nothing too special this week. Just a few precious stones, some lucky charms and a small vial of "eternal youth". Business at her stall was slow, she had not sold anything as of yesterday. In a big voice Lita yelled out, "COME CAPTURE A BIT OF LUCK WITH CHARMS, OR PERHAPS STAY ETERNALLY YOUTHFUL WITH JUST A SIP OF THE ETERNAL YOUTH" her voice drowning out amongst the other vendors as she continued.
