Dear Journal,

After several unsuccessful years trying to conceive, I've decided to adopt a bouncing baby Yan. Here I will chronicle the adoption process and my attempts to bond with the pseudo Yan-baby I was given as a test of my parenting abilities.

Here are a few images of our time together...

1. Yan arrived late at night but he insisted he was hungry, so I indulged him with a late night snack of triple chocolate ice cream.


2. Here I introduced Yan to some of his new family, here he's meeting his great-grandmother.


3. Then, I arranged a celebration to welcome Yan properly....with a delicious chocolate cake filled with rich ganache and topped with creamy fluffy frosting.


4. The extravagance didn't end there. Since Yan is a baby, this melon full of fruit was carved to look like a carriage. It's just the right size too...ACK! Yan get out of there! I knew I should have laminated him.

6. And who doesn't like to be showered with presents? ^_^


7. Just to prove I'm not feeding little Yan too much junkfood, here is a lovely healthy vegetable tray....erm...ignore the ranch dressing he drowned everything in.


8. After all that food and fun, Yan decided he needed some of this fruity punch. Again, why didn't I laminate him? :headdesk:

Journal entry #1 YAN ARRIVES!

After several painstaking minutes spent with a sharpie and scissors, I find myself the proud parent of a Yan facsimile. ^_^ It was well after midnight but the first thing Yan did was ask for food. Being a considerate mommy, I gave him a big bowl of triple chocolate ice cream. He insisted on feeding himself. Isn't he cute?

Journal Entry #2 YAN MEETS MAMA (muh-muh)!!

I was so excited about my new Yan-baby, I had to introduce him to everyone. Here is a picture of Yan with his new Great-grandmother, Mama! She was excited to meet him too. ^_^

Later that day, I arranged a celebration to welcome Yan into the family. My Momma made him this delicious chocolate cake, filled with rich ganache and topped with creamy fluffy frosting. I think she may have been a bit confused though. I'm sure I told her Yan was a boy... O_o'


Here is the amazingly baby carriage carved from a watermelon. It's just the right size for him to ride in style, as soon as we eat all the fruit salad.


Here is Yan basking in the glory of the chocolate fountain. :drool: Many delectable treats to smother in the waterfall of chocolatey goodness are strewn about, just waiting for Yan to choose his favorites.


What's a welcome party without gifts?! Here Yan poses with his presents. He kept eying the cards especially hard...I think he guessed they had money in them. ^_^'


Here is Yan with a lovely vegetable tray to show I do have some understanding of a paper baby's nutritional requirements...erm... just ignore the ranch dressing he drowned everything in.


After all that food and fun, Yan decided he needed some of this fruity punch to cool off. It took me ten minutes to convince him the bowl was not a swimming pool, especially with the sherbert ring floating in it.


We also played games and met a lot more people but I figure this is enough pictures for one day, ne?

The next day I introduced Yan to our pet cat.

Keeton took an immediate....disinterest in him.

We had a nice quite day at home. Yan seemed cold so I made him some floweredy shorts to keep his tushy stylishly warm.

Yan was really excited when he spotted our collection of Xbox 360 games. If he stays with me permanently he might eventually have time to play them all.

Yan finally got to play some games with my husband. He even got to sit in a spinny chair while it was his turn.



He also found a good spot to watch while my hubby was playing Dragon Age II. ^_^

Yan seems utterly fascinated with my husband's mouse pad. I wonder why. ^_^' Probably the same reason my husband likes it. lol

Well, it wasn't much fun but we got some FREE from the government. Thank goodness! I was afraid Yan might starve. O_o'
