Yes, yes, isn't kind of like people in the far south of the united states may speak spanish more than from the north, because mexico is right there, and it's super useful? o_o
So someone who doesn't know anything might say that people in the south speak spanish as their first language~

( but that's probably a bad example, because that's not a different dialect of the same language.. o,o )

WTF?! D: This isn't "Let us discuss who speaks what, where".
Ok, so, please do not post unless it pertains to the topic. I, the creator, say the topic is NOT a discussion on who speaks what where. Start your own topic if you wish to talk about that.

我也说中文!
I've forgotten most characters, though... I finished Chinese school like 5 years ago... o_o'
我还可以说中文,可是我说的就是有一点 "jie jie ba ba" 的.

Did I even write that correctly? xD

WIwi, I am not from China.

But Roxas. They call it Taiwanese there, it is called Hokkien here where I am. My dad speak Hokkien, and his hokkien means Taiwanese in Taiwan. Same thing with different name. I doubt your exchange friend know what we call the same dialect at my place. Hokkien has another name but I forgot one of the pronunciation.

and I was saying, Taiwan's dialect as in 2nd language/dialect use. As I mention Hong Kong's lead would be Cantonese. Big difference.

I didn't do research, because that is what I know from experience what I saw and hear(same with what you know from friends and dad), so I assume it correct.

o__O you as the creator was stating facts and saying who speaks what and where and statistics. why are you acting like that when we're just following your example?

I've always been wondering. Everyone I know who types Chinese on forums like this types in simplified Chinese, is there no one outside of Hong Kong and Taiwan that uses traditional Chinese anymore?

huh?
I only voice out my point when I think it is correct.
However, it could be wrong. and If it is wrong, then I am gladly to be corrected.
I had been planted with those points for a long time, and I thought it is what it seems.
Which is why I am shocked that Mandarin is the most spoken instead of English.

EDIT~ I think I mistook Wiwi's post aiming at me.

Namimi~ I know traditional ones... but the QQ input don't really have a few Hong Kong words... at least I can't find it, unless it is under some kind of Hong Kong pin yin which I am not familiar with.

I think the hokkien taiwanese language, another term for it is kinda similar with this word 蜀南。
hokkien - 福建
taiwanese - 台湾狗语 XD a joke from most taiwan romance novel

我不知道。
I'm not sure, I'm not exactly fluent. Did you mean to say you speak Chinese and your older sis and father speak a little too?

edit:
@Nami Dragon
I was taught simplified in school. However, Mandarin was my very first language I learned besides English. Plus, I'm learning Mandarin so... I don't use traditional as, from my knowledge, most Mandarin speakers write with simplified.

Well, I don't think China uses traditional characters anymore either, only Hong Kong and Taiwan does. I can visit China and not know half the things they are writing about XD

I heard, from my teacher, that there were many people illiterate in China and so, not meaning to bring up a touchy subject, Chairman Mao Zedong went in and made a simplified version to boast the literacy rate and I believe it did in fact work.

I like traditional ones... they look nicer...

but on computer... gosh... you really can't read if the font is smaller. DX the strokes cramm altogether. *eye burns*

Traditional is nice...

But simplified is much easier.

I mean, something that has 20 strokes reduced to 12 is pretty useful.
:'D

Look at the calligraphy! *eyes shining*
Traditional ones really do look nicer in calligraphy.

but yeah, lol, convenient wise, I do agree simplified would be better and faster and more efficient.

Traditional is for old old old people.
Who have lots of time on their hands.
To make pretty words.

...no offense to anyone.
x3;

But for speedtypers/writers, Simplified ftw.

I like traditional because they look nicer too. But when it comes to writing tests and exams, I prefer using a few simplified characters XD

Gosh! Let me tell you one thing!

There was once in my highschool chinese exam for an essay. My teacher circle one of my word wrong. She asked me, 'what is this word, I never seen it...'
I look at it and said... 'Teacher, it is the traditional version of the word 近'.
O__O I wrote it as 進.

Nami: Do you go to a Chinese School or something?
x3 -curious-

I know there are schools around where I live for traditional and simplified.

Me, being lazy, went to simplified.
x3

xu: o-o
Wow.
...teacher fail, eh?
xDDDD
Yea, one of my classmates wrote in halftraditional and half simplified in his essays.
The teacher got irritated.
xD
