The Joy Luck Club comes to mind when I think of sad books.

yeah I know right? but read Amy Tan's other books like The Bonesetter's daughter or The Kitchen God's Wife. Those are as sad as the joy luck club. Especially the bonesetters daughter, it is so sad.

By the way the thread title isn't right. It should be the saddest book you ever read

Bridge To Terabithia made me cry too. It was just too sad and the books was amazing anyway. The ending through was nice but it was just so sad when Leslie died

That must have been Seven Years in Tibet (at the end of the book). I cried my heart out. Tears for all those peaceful loving people who lost their serene way of living, because of covernment military action and interferance. It was, and still is on this day, a heart breaking situation. I still can not believe the world let it happen.
