the fast i've read a book is 2 days. i'm not one of those all-night readers. i have a friend who read one of the harry potter books in about 8 hours. she stayed up all night after getting it at a midnight release. i could never do that.

I read the second Luxe novel for about 5 1/2 hours.
I read rather fast compared to some of my friends. But I don't compete.
Tis was a wonderful book.

Well, I'm not really sure, but I did read a 481 page book in two days. I had school, but if I didn't, I would have been done sooner.

I read a novel in a short of time as three days! I spent six hours at a time reading back in high school when I actually had time to do more leisure reading.

I can't really say. I don't always count the hours. the fastest I remember reading a book in was about five hours, but that was a shorter book ,I think. It was called Fathom Five. I read that all in one go.
I read the order of the phoenix in twelve hours, not all in one go though.
I generally find it difficult to finish a book in one sitting, if I'm reading during the day. (always gets interrupted) If I'm reading at night it's easier though. I usually assume I can finish any book under the size of order of the phoenix in the hours between 9pm and 9am.

The fast I ever read a new book was Terry Pratchet's The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents. I had read that entire book in a single night.

Garth Nix's Abhorsen in under 2 hours. Surprised the hell out of me. xD But I had just bought it that day. I sat down maybe 20 min before 12 am to read it and didn't look up again until 1:15am. I remember the time because the short span made my eyes bug out lol. I think saying that I like that series would be an understatement, which explains the super speed read. I've never read something that long that fast again though. It takes me between 3 1/2-ish hours and a few days depending on how long my reading session is.

It took me about three hours to read A Child Called "It". I had to take sob breaks, too.

Depends on what you consider an novel and if I've already read it before. When I was re-reading the Twilight Series I read the last book in about 4 hours. I remember it creeped my teachers out in middle school when for in class reading day I took the entire chronicles of Narnia and got through almost all of them in one day (that was in elementary school)

Right now I'm reading Margret Atwood. Her stuff is a bit harder for me to read because it has so many nuances so it's probably going to take a week or two for me to get through.

I read scary fast. Depending on the language and the difficulty of the book, I can finish very thick texts very quickly. I've loved to read ever since I was very small, and I learned to read when I was about 1 year old.
Reading is amazing... when you get to read the things that you want.

2.5 hours to read Fire Bringer by David Clement-Davies. 512 pages. I've always read fast and I usually have to get a new book daily. Sometimes it'll be weekly but that's the longest it will ever take me to read something. I've read the ENTIRE Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind in less than a week-that's 12 books and 8746 pages. I'm pretty proud of myself =]

This thread is relative as it depend son the thickness of a book. I can read HP 1 in about 3 hours or so... but I read a lot, plus I really enjoy HP so that went fast. I can read most James Patterson books in 3 or 4 hours as well

Hmm I'm guessing it depends on the size of the book and how many pages, but say an average sized paper-back novel at about 500-800 pages, if I got the time can get it done within 5-6 hours.

1-2 days for a five hundred page book that's interesting and when I'm short on time. When I have a lot of time, I say a couple hours.

I thought I read moderately fast... until I saw some of the speeds that you guys are clocking. I read aproximatly 200 pages in an hour and a half I believe, though it depends on the size of the font. I read the Septimus Heap books in a few hours, but the font is actually quite large.

I also have been told that I read funny. Have any of you ever had someone watch your eyes when you read. Supposedly my eyes look like a typewriter (gah! does anyone know what I am hinting at?) the "word word word word word word...pause...next line word word word...pause" with a little "ching" at the end of the line. I wish my eyes went "ching."

Have any of you ever sat down with a book with every intention of reading a chapter or two, then reached the last page to find that the sun had set, your rice is burnt, and your pets have destroyed the house? (happens to me more often than I would like)
