*raises hand* meeeeee! i'm the children's specialist at a Books-A-Million and have been for a couple of years now *nodsnods*

I used to be one, and loved it. It was a highly enjoyable job, surrounded by what I loved and encouraging others to share in that love. However, it didn't pay enough to pay the bills, and I can't manage to stock shelves with my old back injury. So I can only fondly recall those days and haunt bookstores.

I still find myself automatically reshelving books by series order and alphabetization if I see them mis-shelved. :oops:

I am one online :D does that count? I've put up books at amazon.com, half.com, eBay, alibris.com and when I can't donate to libraries, they go in the free section in craigslist.com.

Or paperbackswap.com!

My first job in college was working in the trade book section of a college bookstore (which is basically your regular books as opposed to your textbooks). I absolutely loved doing that and that's something I wouldn't mind doing part time even now.

This thread made me realise something brilliant.

I was going to apply for a summer job at a branch of the "Lush" cosmetic/bath stuff shop, but now I'm going to try for Waterstones instead.

I'd like to work in a bookshop. But there really aren't any small book sellers 'round here (that I'm aware of), and I don't much want to work for a big bookstore chain.

I KNOWS. I'll work at a comic store. ;o Comics are books, too! Kinda!

I work at a Borders bookstore and have since it opened here back on October 5th.
Well, actually since mid-September, because I was one of the ones who was in during the sort. It was so much fun, I would love to do a sort for another new bookstore. =)
I absolutely love my job and am currently trying to work my way up.
I wouldn't love anything more than working there as a manager someday.

I don't work in a bookstore, but my man is an assistant store manager at Barnes & Noble, so I get his discount. :twisted: He also brings home lots of free books... strips, old magazines and promo books and CDs. It's pretty nice. I get all the benefits of working in a bookstore, without having to actually work retail.

I haven't worked at a bookstore, but I did volunteer at our local library back home from 10th grade up until I left to go to college. When I graduate in two years I'm planning on going to graduate school to get an advanced degree in Library Science. Also, this summer I am going to try my darndest to get a job at a bookstore, hopefully Barnes and Noble or Borders since they're the closest to home ^.^

Most of the ones I've met are very nice :)
They all help me find books..even if it's just for reading there :D

Right now, I have a desire to either sell books or work as a librarian. (I work in clothing right now. I want books.) Seriously, I love to write and read. I'd love to spend all my work time around books.

I´d love to work with books.. but I´m still in school and I dont have that much time to other work when I´m working with my mom.. -__-;
