Just behind the mirror, just out of your glance, lies a hidden glowing place where a thousand gardens flourish, safeguarding a fairy species called the Llithe. The Llithe are small, fragile peaceful winged creatures made of light and magic, and spend their time caring and attending to their beautiful garden.

However, soon the Llithe begin to notice shadows in their garden.. shadows bourne by the Whisperers. The Whisperers are dark fairies cast away from their home, and they seek brightness and light, and the brilliance of the Thousand Gardens caught the attention of their inky eyes. And so they stole into the garden one by one, each slowly consuming the light of the garden into starless shadows that gives them comfort.

Soon, the Llithe became aware of the withering flowers in the mysterious shadows, and the Whisperers of the glare in the sun. It will soon be a matter of time before the two faerie families are locked in a struggle that will change the face of the Thousand Gardens for all time.

The Llithe

The Llithe are small, fragile, winged faeries made of light and magic, who have dwelled in the Thousand Gardens since time immemorial. Each of them are distinctive, and have their own unique skills. They are blessed with their skills when they reach young adulthood, and soon after, they begin to transform into full adults. Llithe skills are not exchangeable without a special potion. Skills also tend to influence the Llithe physically (it will be reflected in their artwork) and mentally (should be reflected in your RP).

Some Llithe have magical powers based on their skills, and some do not. There are some rare Llithe that have powerful Illuminae magic that transcends their skills, but so far, they are unknown to us.

The Llithe are peaceful, sociable creatures but are suspicious and afraid of the Whisperers.


The Whisperers

The Whisperers are dark-winged faeries who were banished from their homeland for unknown reasons. Like the Llithe, each Whisperer has a distinct skill and some have magical powers. They are similar to the Llithe, in that they also go through two stages before reaching adulthood.

The Whisperers are more comfortable in the shadows and dark, but would not object to going into the sunlight. Though often perceived to be gloomy and grim, the Whisperers are kind folk who loves peace just like any other. They just happen to be introverted and shy. Some also enjoy pranks and jokes.

There are, however, powerful and evil Whisperers who were blessed with the power of Shadow Magic, bent on destroying all that is brilliant and beautiful. Fortunately, they are yet to be found in the Thousand Gardens. But those in the Gardens know about the threat of those with Shadow Magic, and are wary of these faeries.


The Spirits
Public RP

The Spirits are the wandering apparitions of the Garden. They are not faeries but are separate entities in the garden, and they form part of the life in the Garden itself. Some of the voices are soft and dwindle away, while others become strong and have distinct personalities. All of them have names.

There are numerous Spirits, and new ones surface from time to time, but no one knows where they come from or where they are heading. The Spirits can interact with the Llithe and the Whisperers as long as they can get their attention. Some more powerful fae can see them, while the majority can't until they make themselves known or get a faerie's
attention.

The Spirits do not have skills or special powers.

However, some Spirits strive to make themselves known and in time, they may develop such a distinct personality that they become a real Llithe or Whisperer. No one knows how this happens, and such occurences are very rare.

Please read the FAQ for more info on how to be a Spirit, stay a Spirit and eventually have your Spirit become a Faerie.


The Pets

The Llithe and Whisperers are 8 inches tall, and therefore a right size to tame the Garden animals for transportation and/or companionship. Bigger birds or rabbits are popular to ride on, and smaller animals like butterflies make great friends.
Pets may NOT have magical powers.

The Promise Prince and Princess

According to official Llithe reports, once, the Promise Prince of Whispers stole into the Thousand Gardens and kidnapped the Promise Princess of Llithe. The breach then led to the current convergence of Whisperers in the Thousand Gardens. The two then disappeared and is never heard of again. Whether or not the reports are true, Llithe and Whisperers alike have been questing to find the hidden Promise Prince and Princess in the hopes that when they return, so will peace in the Thousand Gardens.






Caer, Llithe of Swanfeather.

A long time ago, Caer fell in love with a human and was banished from Fairyland by the Queen of Fairies and withdrew to the Thousand Gardens. She is not a true Llithe though she calls herself as such.

Being a dweller since time immemorial, Caer knows the hidden secrets about the three races and could communicate with the Spirits. It has even been speculated that she knows of the whereabouts of the Promise Prince and Princess, but to this, Caer just smiles and stays silent.

Caer possesses a magical mirror that, when polished with Pure Water, is able to tell secrets of the Spirits to the Spirits themselves. But what secrets are these? They will have to find out for themselves..





Dawnsong, Llithe of Bellsong

Dawnsong is the cheerfullest Llithe of twinkly bells, and she will be there to greet you when you arrive! She's bright and happy always, and would love to be your friend, whether you're a Llithe or Whisperer.

If you're bored, you can always seek her out where she is always happy to talk to newcomers or old friends about anything at all.




Destine, Whisperer of Silhouettedeep

Destine is the mysterious Whisperer who keeps to herself, but she's very kind to whom would speak to her, and is eager to introduce the Whisperer's way of life to any Llithe who is brave enough to approach her.

Destine is a great friend to talk to and will certainly make you feel welcome in the mysterious Shadowgrounds, the dwelling of the Whisperers.




Dalia the Fateseer

Dalia has just recently been reborn into the Gardens. It seems she is quite a mysterious figure, and though some faeries think her familiar somehow, no one can quite place where they know her from. It is clear that the Fateseer has been outside the Gardens before her rebirth, but she remembers little about her time there. Currently, no one knows her true alignment...Not quite a Llithe, not quite a Whisperer, she is caught in the void.

Dalia can be found in the Temple of the Oracle, awaiting those that seek her talents. If a faerie brings her an Illusion pendant, she can use it to scry and read the faerie's future, or perhaps find something that the fae has lost...or wishes they had lost! But getting the pendant is another story...

The First Garden
Where all eggs arrive. Dawnsong collects them from the First Garden and takes them to her home, where she tends to them until they are ready to hatch.


The Center Garden
Oracle Dalia lives at the top of the tallest tree in the Center Garden. Be careful getting to the top! It's a perilous journey, and not for weak-hearted fae.


Mirror Lake Garden
Mirror Lake Garden has beautiful, shining magical lakes, fountains, ponds, and waterfalls, and all day long the place is abuzz with the pleasing sounds of water on rock and earth. This is where the denizens of the Garden come to collect water.

Feel free to dip your feet in the blossom-filled calm waters, take a bath in the lake (please mind your clothes and privacy!), relax your mind with some fishing in one of the little boats that are provided. Perhaps you would like to have a picnic under the permanent full rainbows scattered throughout the garden, or read a book while being distracted by the magical fishes by the brook. All of these things can be done inside the Mirror Lake Garden.

Please be very careful though.. some of the waters can be treacherous and darkly magical, Llithe have been known to disappear into mysterious dark patches in the water never to be seen again! Also.. it is common knowledge here to ignore any sound of beautiful and mysterious singing beckoning you.. besides Llithe and Whisperers, the old spirits enjoy this place too.

Caer can be found here often, as it is one of her favorite Gardens.


The Evercommon Garden
The Evercommon Garden links to all the other Gardens, and is the biggest and brightest Garden of all.

There is to be no fighting in the Evercommon Garden, as if this place is too beautiful to be polluted by such atrocities.

Underfoot, the fresh green grass of the Garden is sweet smelling and pleasant to walk, run, or lie on. It's comfy and dry, and is better than any carpet anywhere!

Bordering the Evercommon Garden is a clear brook with tiny, friendly fairy fishes, and in a particularly bright patch of sun, there are beautifully carved seats and tables made of marble. These are always abuzz with garden parties and gossip. You can often find Dawnsong, Llithe of Bellsong here -- she's usually the one initiating the gossip!

If you don't feel like venturing into the sun, maybe you would like to take shelter in the cozy shades under the everflowering purple wisteria trees. The butterflies will be sure to greet you if you maintain a calm disposition!


The River of Promises
Unlike the bright songs and bustle of activity in the Mirror Lake Garden, the River of Promises is a very quiet, dark river hidden in the caves in the Drowned Valley.

Huge weeping willow trees dip into the strangely still waters of the river and the shadows cast here are dark and mysterious. This is where the Whisperers thrive. White waterlilies float gently in the waters, but be careful of where you tread, and be silent! You may feel eyes upon you at all times, but if you are respectful of the place, you will meet the gentle Whisperer folk.

Be loud and brash and perhaps the grave waters of the river will teach you a lesson!

It is here you can find Destine, Whisperer of Silhouettedeep.


The Drowned Valley
The Drowned Valley is dark, cool, mysterious and forbidding. The bright sunlight of the Gardens are diffused here in the mists, and this is where the Whisperers arrive from their wanderings outside the Garden. Llithe are welcome here, of course, but sometimes they might see other Whisperers and sometimes not, only feeling eyes upon them the whole time.

The trees here are white and grey and their pale white blossoms spread throughout the chalky hills of the ancient Valley. Here, your voice echoes and it seems as if every word you say reverberates throughout the Garden.

There is a very deep feeling of peace and tranquility in this spiritual place, though it seems somewhat ominous.


Hundredth Window Garden
The Hundredth Window Garden is a very grand palace built out of glass and mirrors. All the official functions and grand events of the Thousand Gardens are held here. Everything is polished to a bright dazzle and the marble floors glitter like facets of diamonds.

Contrary to its name, the Hundredth Window Garden has many more than a hundred windows. No one knows how many there really are, but everything inside is lit up brilliantly with magical sunlight that filters through large windows that hang throughout the palace.

The Hundredth Window Garden has rooms and rooms of anything and everything you can think of, and you are welcome to stay as long as you like. Perhaps you'll find new friends or lovers here...you just never know.


The House of Eagles
The House of Eagles is a cold stone temple carved out of the side of a cliff, and it is very old. The ivy and roots of blossoming trees have slithered in through the crevices between the rocks and rays of sunlight creep in through the holes in the walls and ceilings in lacy, luminated patterns.

If you are quiet, you can hear the dripping of water in the distance and the gentle echoes of Spirits, Llithe and Whisperers long gone. The House of Eagles is a mysterious place, and no one knows what it is for exactly. All Llithe regard this place as holy and it brings a great source of comfort and awe to the race of faeries.

There are stone statues of old faeries scattered throughout the temple, and in the middle of the clearing is a grouping of stiff stone chairs and a broken pillar that has been carved into a makeshift table.

This is the Spirits' common meeting area.

Whisperers

Main RP thread

Roleplay is required in the Thousand Gardens. Without roleplay, your character will not grow and develop a personality all of its own. Currently, roleplay requirements are minimal. If we see you participating in roleplay, that counts as activity. If we find that people are not participating, we will create roleplay requirements that you must fulfill in order for your faerie to grow. A growth quest is also required for young adults to become adults, and for adults to become elders. Your faerie will be contacted when it is time for them to quest.

Journals are optional, but if you would like a journal, please contact A Thousand Gardens or Sizzla to set one up for you. We will be reading them, and they are a good place to set up your faerie's home.

Types of roleplay that are acceptable for growth:

• Large group RPs conducted in the main RP thread (see above)~ Large group RPs are typically reserved for arrivals, events, festivals and metaplot events (which occur randomly). These involve 4+ people RPing together. These RPs can be copied and pasted into your journals, or you may provide a link to the main RP thread in a post in your journal, stating on what pages the RP started and ended.

• Small group RPs in separate threads~ Small group RPs are conducted in separate threads within the Breedable & Changing Pets Roleplay subforum. These involve 2-3 characters. Like large group RPs, you can copy and paste these into a post in your journal, or you can provide a link to the thread in which you RPed. These will be set up between player characters (PCs), and perhaps NPCs if requested (if an NPC requests a RP with a PC or vice versa). You can set up a place that your faeries will meet and have an adventure, have a tea party and gossip or just go flying and see who they meet. Really, these are up to your imagination!

• Individual narratives~ Usually these are placed in your journal and provide character development for your fae. They can be anything you want -- from having your fae decorate his (or her) house, to him going on an adventure to the lake, to taming and riding a bumblebee for the fun of it. Be creative with your character development! You need to plan for your character's future: Where are they going in life? Do they want to learn a new skill or see a specific place? We don't hold your hand when it comes to character development, so go crazy with it.

• Diary entries~ Just like it says. These are diary entries from your character's perspective. How they feel about life? Who they've met and how they feel about them, etc.

Egg

Faerie eggs are like little jewels -- very small and fragile, but very beautiful and promising! Don't worry, other characters will care for them and look after them, making sure they are safe.

Faerie eggs, while not able to move very much or very well, do have some abilities that allow you to interact with them. They are empathic, and project their emotions on their guardian. So, a guardian would be able to know if the faerie inside the egg was happy or sad, scared or elated. Eggs also tend to shake and the wings on them will sometimes flutter in an attempt to fly.

Soon enough though, they will be able to take to the sky...





Young Adult

The young adult Llithe and Whisperers are finally blessed with their skill and are slowly reshaping their bodies to suit it.. They look unsure and nervous at first, but you can see how they will grow into gorgeous adults soon!

The Young Adult stage should be focused on the faerie being blessed with his or her skill, and then learning how to use it. This stage should also focus on interactions between the faerie and the world around it, as well as interactions between faeries. This is a very impressionable stage, so great care should be taken when roleplaying. You just never know what may happen with your character.

When the Fateseer scrys and sees that the faerie is ready to grow, she will contact that fae and send it on a mission -- a growth quest. Once it is complete, the faerie will return to the Oracle for their reward.





Adult

The Llithe and Whisperers are finally full grown.. and look stunning in their own distinct and fully developed skill shapes and costumes.

This stage will focus on the faerie improving upon and mastering her skill, and perhaps learning a power as he or she becomes more powerful. Perhaps your fae takes a position of power within the community? Or they become a healer, a merchant or something else entirely. The options are endless.

A LOT of RP will be necessary for a fae to become an Eternal. The Oracle will contact the faerie when it is found that the fae has grown enough to deserve to become an Eternal. A quest will also be involved in becoming an Eternal.



Eternal

The Eternal are the very rare Llithe or Whisperers who have grown beyond mere time and skill. They have the ability to recieve Illuminae or Shadow magic, which are meant for serious war!

Not much is known about the Eternal yet. Looks like we'll just have to wait and see..

How the hell do you spell that thing?

How big are Llithe and Whisperers?
They are about 8 inches tall, the garden and its animals are normal size, so the faeries use miniature roses etc for decorations and can have smaller creatures like butterflies / spiders as pets. The faerie buildings are built to scale the faeries.

How do I get one?
There are a few ways, but generally flatsales and special auctions are the most common ways to get a faerie. It is also possible to get one through a special event.

How often are those held?
Whenever we feel like it. Keep an eye on the thread! Though it may not be often, rest assured your character will be gorgeous <3.
Flatsales generally run for a week, but it will be ended when there is about 3-5 orders at a time.

These are too expensive! I can't afford it!
We do a three part payment plan for those who don't want to pay all at one go. You can pay us a deposit of 667g after your application has been approved, another 667g when your fairy is ready to be a teen, and another 667g when its ready to be an adult. The deposit is not returnable!
Applicable only for flatsales.

Are these RP required?
Yes. You will have to do a certain amount of RP and/or quests for your character to grow. Currently, we do not have exact RP requirements, but we need to see you participating or writing in your journal.

Can they breed?
Not at the moment ><. When they do, you get to combine skills and powers (if any!)

How long does it take for my Llithe/Whisperer to grow?
From egg to child takes a short time, but from child to adult takes a few long weeks. From adult to Eternal will require much more than time. Growing can be delayed by using longevity potion.

Are they exchangeable? Can I have more than one character?
Yes, they're owner exchangeable, just tell us about it please! And at the moment, you are only allowed one Fairy.

Can I have both a Spirit and Llithe/Whisperer?
Sorry, Spirits are strictly for public RPers! If you're a Spirit and have obtained a character, you'll have to give up your Spirit!

What's the deal with Spirits?
They're public RP characters -- anyone can RP one. However, there are limitations. They have no skills/powers, there is no official art made for them, and Llithe and Whisperers may or may not RP with you -- you can't force them to. Also, events and metaplots are exclusive only the Llithe and Whisperers unless otherwise stated.

How does my Spirit become a real Llithe/Whisperer?
You will have to have RPed frequently and well enough, and if you're lucky, you will be offered the chance to have your Spirit reincarnated into a proper Llithe/Whisperer egg. More details will come when this first occurs. However, please don't keep your hopes up, as this transformation occurs rarely.

Can I change my character's hair, theme, etc etc?
You'll have to buy a special item for simple changes. Major physical appearances are not changeable.

Can I name my characters then?
Yes you can, but you can't change it once you've picked it! You also can't name or change their skills and power names.

I do like individual quests, because it gives your character a purpose and helps you develop them more. There's nothing I hate more than non-directed RP...So yeah, making lives more difficult is <3. XD ;)

I'll probably include my character in the quests, as she will be able to see what's in store for them, she can warn them of future consequences. Of course, if they follow her suggestions or not is up to them...hehehe. That could make for some very interesting RP.

I do need to work out more world information, so that there are places for characters to go and explore. :D That's when we're going to need those NPCs! I would like to hire a couple more people here soon to play those NPC characters...and we're looking for people who can play them true to character. *nods*

*pets the Mene servers* I know! I don't want them to die! I guess that means I should donate more money...hehe.
