CK writes romance novels under a pen name (it are sekrut) and draws for a Patreon project. The event landed in a good lull between projects. xD; I like to keep up to date on what's going on in the publishing industry and keep up with a few other sites related to hobbies/friends. :B

But, yeah! You're right, though. You can learn from other artists no matter what. xD I do all the time. I just didn't want to imply Hammy needed to learn anything from me. xD

Hahha. xD The nice thing about ebooks is no one knows the cover of the book you're reading unless you show them. ;D (My covers don't have a lot of skin on them. I suppose I'd sell more if they did, though!)

xuvrette - Yes they do. :D And if you're any good at it, there are plenty of self-publishers looking to hire cover artists. I'd start working on a portfolio of work and make pre-made covers that people can purchase from you for a flat fee. I make my own, so I don't have a lot of experience with what pre-made covers or commissioned covers sell for, but I know it's a career path that can be lucrative. (For example, I think this guy made enough for awhile he put off his own writing career.) .....if I misunderstood your comment, please ignore me. xD

xD I'm a little distracted. It's a little noisy right now because I have my bedroom door open and my family is watching something with the volume up high enough for me to follow along. xD;

People actually love pre-made covers! I follow several blogs and one or two of them would promote their cover artist's pre-made covers. On one blog, they usually sold out within 24 hours (and there would be a good dozen or more covers to choose from). Several people would buy them because they liked the covers and would create a story to go with it. Others would look, realize a cover was perfect for their project, and buy it. I think it's partly because many writers aren't really artists, so they don't know how to ask for what they want. I also think many people would prefer not having to wait and hope that what the artist gave them was what they wanted.

Yes, you generally only sell a cover once. But if you can produce covers quickly, it usually works out pretty good.

You probably already know this (I'm only mentioning it because I've heard of one cover artist who didn't and their career sank like a stone), but you should also make sure you have the licenses to use the fonts and photos you choose. When I make my own covers, I use Creative Commons and public domain fonts and photos. I haven't yet started buying from stock photo sites.

You can probably get more references on pricing if you search up "pre-made covers". I just did a search and the first site that popped up for me had a lot of erotica covers, so I think I ought to warn you about that. xD; (Lots of skin, but nothing actually, y'know, XXX rated.)
