She was born with quite a strange power that was extremely depressing at times. She wasn’t exactly a fortune teller, because she couldn’t really see the future. She saw death. When she looked at a person who was likely to die soon, she could see when they’re going to die and get a sense of how it’s going to happen. This depressing curse becomes her gift when she reaches middle school and decides that she will save people if she could. Things like pulling people away from moving cars, keeping others away from certain places at certain times and even knocking over armed robbers. She felt it was her duty to do so.

But Fate had everything planned out already. Those who weave destiny do not like to be wronged. They don’t like changes made into their system. And when they find out that this particular girl is saving the lives of those meant to die, they decide that her death should be next.

And so they send out their number one Hunter. He is an almost immortal human with gifts from the gods. He can shape-shift into any animal he wants and is capable of bending minds and wills to an extent. A job like this should be easy, but he doesn’t count on her being able to see an impending doom.

She won’t go down without a fight. Between school, friends, boys, and saving lives, a Hunter is biting off more than you can chew.

When he enrolls in her school, biting is the only thing she can’t resist doing.

{Completely jacked from the first place I posted this idea...}

Kaylee Ming

17

Ah, finally! A new year, a new person. Resolutions of improving oneself and working extremely hard at doing it at first. New year, new start, new beginning. Unfortunately, for Kaylee, new year only meant new semester. Despite being a junior, she also signed up for some senior classes. Her grades got her in, but not she had to prepare for a new work load. It was hard enough keeping up the grades while trying to save people from a death you can see and simultaneously trying to keep your emotions in check from the fact that your family is afraid of you. Now she had to add AP courses and homework onto the list.

Kay sat up on her bed and looked to her bulletin board, filled with various things. Her most recent addition was a bright orange post-it that had "Do your homework!" written on it in bold, black Sharpie. Words to live by.

A normal teenager would wake up and feel a hate for the fact that they had to go to school, but still deal with it because they'd see their friends. A normal teenage girl would have a wonderful loving boyfriend at this time. Their only concern is college, friends, and boys. Now, Kay was entirely different. Her concerns were death, college, family, friends, and then maybe saving her nonexistent love life. The only time she really scouted boys was to make sure they weren't the next ones to go off.

With a groan, Kay headed downstairs after showering, brushing her teeth and getting her things ready. Her aunt was in the kitchen preparing for a holiday that could be so tantalizingly close at times and was extremely important to her family. Her uncle and cousin was still most likely in bed. With a small wave towards the only person in the family brave enough to keep her around, Kaylee left the house and started biking to school.

(Sorry finding a good pic isn't easy when it comes down to guys)

Caleb left the headquarters of F.A.T.E and got on his motorcycle. He was thinking about everything he was told before hand about this girl he was supposed to find and kill. 'You must find this girl' the one in charge of the Gifted Hunters Academy spoke and threw out a file in front of him, opening it they spoke adding more "Her name is Kaylee Ming and even though she looks quite normal, she is far from it. Her powers involve seeing deaths before hand and she has chosen to do what she could to prevent all that she can. It's making everything here a wreck and we can't have anything that makes us lose our control upon fate.' Another one spoke

You must find her and stop her at any means necessary; do you understand?' And of course Caleb understood the assignment, though technically they'd never said he "had" to kill her right off the bat. Figuring out that he had a chance to keep one more alive, he would enter her life, and make her stop, with using their words 'Any means necessary'

Riding up to the house he was given an address to, he was told to appear as an average teenager and try not to stand out far too much or he might be found out. Stopping in the driveway and puttin the kickstand down, he steps off the bike and walks up to the front door. Before he could knock, two adults opened the door and smiled. "You must be Caleb Jager, we're your new live in parents. I'm Jessica and this is Matthew. We know you will like your space, so your room is upstairs. Feel free to change and grab a bite to eat, but school is starting soon." they spoke as they stood in the living room. "Your curfew will be 11pm and you can't leave the house any earlier in the morning than 5am and that's for exercise. We wont be in your way much, dinner is at 6pm, breakfast is at 7am and lunch usually around noon. Now that it is all out of the way, here are your school things." The two adults pushed him out the door with a backpack and school supplies and shut the door.

Caleb rolled his eyes, slinging the backpack on his back, and going to his motorcycle. He knew he had to make their chit chat fast, but, that was just a bit odd and the fact that they looked a bit too...too odd, makes them stand out. It's like the perfect little family was re-invented and someone forget to tell them about reality. Being across the street from the girl whom he was to hunt down and take care of, he saw her leave on her bicycle about the same time he backed out of the driveway on his bike.

Moving forward and putting his bike into gear, he rode to school, 'Time to get this over with' he thought to himself 'While everyone else is out having fun with training I'm stuck babysitting a girl' Just then a ball ran out into the street in front of Caleb and a kid about 6 followed after it trying to stop it. "Tyler, don't go into the street" the little boy's mother called out.

Kaylee hummed as she rode her bike down the street. She was hoping to get to school without any problems. So far, it was a nice and sunny day, not too hot, not to cold, just right. Suddenly, her hums were drowned out. Time seemed to stop as her heartbeat started to thud in her ears. Suddenly she heard the ticking of a clock and the beeps of a bomb countdown. Kaylee pushed down a feeling of panic as she focused on the sound. She heard a child crying and a crash. As she rode further, the sounds got louder and the child's cry more prominent. Her vision shifted and a boy came into sight. He was young, six at least. Then she heard a motorbike. The numbers started to come into her mind, counting down and ticking, telling her just how much time the boy had.

Her bike wasn't going fast enough. Kayle cursed as she jumped off and threw it onto the sidewalk. Then she started to run until the actual boy was in sight rather than his deadly apparition. Kaylee pushed herself harder. If the boy died, Kaylee knew she would never be able to forgive herself. The only things she could focus on now were her legs and the boy. Her hope was waning and she knew she had to go faster. Faster!, her mind yelled. She somehow managed to catch up to the idiot on the motorcycle who was still going. Didn't he know to stop? Didn't he see the kid in front of him? "Stop!" she yelled to him. The boy was withing in reach, but the motocycle would be faster. So she did the only thing the could. Kaylee dove.

She dove into the boy, wrapping her arms around him and falling to the floor. In the split second before the motorcycle hit, Rainy pushed herself and the boy out of the way, missing by nearly a centimeter. The boy cradled against her chest and bawled. "Shh, shh," she murmured, trying to get her breath back. "It's okay, it's okay."

"Tyler!" a woman yelled, running up to them. Kaylee let the boy into his mother's arms, her heart still thudding as she looked on the scabs on her knees and elbows from dragging her skin across the floor. "Oh thank you, thank you!" the woman said to her while she rocked her son back and forth. Kaylee shook her head. "It-it's okay." She managed a weak smile. "You should take him inside."

This experience was different from what she used to have. She had never been this close to danger before She never thought about it until now as she looked at the child and mother. They had numbers over their heads that counted down to their death. Sometimes these numbers were off, but Kaylee could always manage to calculate it it out. But not matter how much she looked into the mirror or looked up, she couldn't see her own numbers.

About the time that she saved the boy, Caleb slowed on his motorcycle and even though apparently he did it on purpose, he cursed to himself mostly but where all could hear "Stupid brakes" and then got off his bike and knelt next to the girl "Hey are you okay?" He asked seeing all of her scrapes. Knowing that he would have to make something up rather than saying he meant to do it, he took a moment before she saved the boy and thought of it though he also watched her as she looked at the mother and son whom had went in after Caleb told them "It's okay, I'll make sure she is fine" F.A.T.E. wasn't going to be so happy that the little boy lived, 'He'll die later' he thought to himself while taking of her elbows with his hand to help her up but not to touch the scrapes.

Kaylee stood up, feeling someone holding her shaky body up, but not really focusing. After a few more calming breaths, she zeroed in on the guy still holding her. As she examined him, she realized two things: One, he was devastatingly handsome. Completely swoon worthy. As a hormonal teenager with a nonexistent love life and really, no moment to care about handsome boys at all without trying to save their lives and creep them out first, Kaylee took the time to savor the moment. Then shaking the thought away from her, the realized that he was the person on the bike. And abruptly pulled away from him. "Um...thank you," she mumbled.

Then she glared at him. "Get your brakes checked. The kid could've died." She sighed, rubbing around the areas that were scraped. It would hurt like hell moving after the blood coagulated. Without another word to the irresponsible driver, she headed back to her fallen bike, feeling glad that she actually left the house early.

Caleb shrugged and looked to the mother inside the house, 'He will die soon' adding the last thought and shaking it away. Seeing people die alot around him was normal. He realized that back at the house the new so-called foster parents also had a daughter and he would have to meet her later. Waiting to see if Kaylee was okay with riding her bike to school like that he took his time getting on the bike and checking whatever he could in the mean time though he never wore a helmit and never really would.

Kaylee got back on her bike, and started back on her ride to school. How was she going to explain this to her aunt and uncle, who would definitely worry about how she got her cuts and scrapes? It took her at least a year to convince her to go without helmets or padding. She mumbled incoherent curses as she continued on to school, slowing down when she passed by the same person on the bike. "Don't you have to get somewhere?" He looked around her age. "Like school?" She rode off, deciding she'd have to lie to them. "But oww they hurt," she murmured, changing the gear and then riding off. Kaylee checked her watch. There was still quite some time before school started, meaning she could wash off in the locker room before class.

Caleb shrugged fallowing her towards the school, once there he did the usual teens would do at a new school. Get the papers, go find your locker, find your classes, meet your teachers, and of course grab some decent breakfast while at it. Getting off his bike and parking it he found his way around and then back to the front of the school where he sat on the steps of it leading to the entrance. (sorry getting off soon)

Once Kaylee made sure her bike was locked and secured to the bike rail, Kaylee headed straight to the girl's locker room. There, she washed her scabs and dried them off with a paper towel, wincing at the stinging sensation the rough material was making on her now very tender skin. She cursed herself for not having long pants on her, for her bright red wounds were quite apparent on her ivory skin and her athletic shorts weren't doing so well in hiding them. Nonetheless, she applied antiseptics on the red areas and hoped that they wouldn't look so bad by the time she got home.

Once leaving the locker room, Kaylee went straight to her own locker where she organized herself for the new school day ahead. She didn't have very many friends in school because she kept bailing on the ones she had in middle school, earning her the reputation of the resident school freak. Not like she wasn't; the girl could see death. Not exactly normal by any standards. Even the gypsies she had so long admired for their mystical customs would've thought her sent from hell. No matter, Kaylee thought. Her family had already turned her back on her, why not her friends? At least at this rate, she'd have nothing to lose. That was the one upside to being alone.

A few girls passed her, whispering in very excited voices about a new kid in school. A few words like "Ohmgod, he's so cute!" and "He's hot," and "I'd like a piece of him," made her roll her eyes. It always seemed that it was the pretty ones that got themselves into the most danger. Kaylee slammed her locker shut, remembering a certain idiotic, very hot guy that almost killed a little kid because his "cool" motorcycle had faulty breaks. The girls yelped, looked at Kaylee with the usual "oh, it's the freak" look and walked away with their noses pointed up. "As long as this one doesn't get himself killed, everything will be fine!" she whispered to herself, turning from her locker and heading to her first class. "At least some history will make me feel better." History was always her favorite class; she could never really feel left out there, learning about other people who were shunned just like her.

After awhile the bell rung and everyone rushed to their classes. Of course this year there was a five minute warning bell and that helped with less students being tardied to their classes. Caleb walked in a couple minutes after the tardy bell rung and went over to the teacher handing him the pass. Seeing other girls swoon over him, he just rolled his eyes in his mind of course not for real, he didn't want to seem rude. But apparently he had a couple of the classes with this Kaylee girl. "alright everyone listen up. We have a new student here, his name is Caleb Jager" "Actually it's Jäger and it's pronounced Yaeger" Caleb interupted "Ah, my bad. Well would you like to tell us anything about yourself?" "No, I'm only here for studies after transfering over from Germany" "Ah, you're German?" "yes" "Is your last name in German history?" "It is" "What does it mean?" "My family name hasn't changed over the last couple centuries as far as I've heard of and it means Hunter"

At the mention of the new (and still irresponsible) kid, girls around Kaylee fluttered with excitement. A new boy? Who was foreign and had a name meaning hunter? Oh, he had a new fan club. It still didn't help that he was still very hot. Kaylee mentally whacked herself as she took the time to glare at the new kid. At least he was a distraction and would get the rest of the student body off of her for being a freak. Namely Jaime Goldberg, her ex-best friend who climbed the population ladder and turned the entire school against her. Kaylee pushed aside that painful thought and focused on the sketch of a Hindu goddess in her notebook, waiting for the class to settle down and for the lesson to begin. She kept thinking, as she added weapons to each of the goddesses eighteen hands, He better not be seated to me...he better not be seated next to me....

"There are only two seats opened, you can either sit next to Tommy over there texting and chatting as usual or you can sit next to Kaylee over there doodling" (What's the teacher's name?) "I'll sit next to the girl" Caleb spoke not drawing any attention to Kaylee until he sat down next to her and all the girls glared at her. 'Wow, this is highschool? I thought it was more sophiscated' Caleb thought to himself taking out a notebook as the teacher began his lectures and he copied down everything the teacher said. Turning to Kaylee while the teacher forgot to take attendence he said "I'm Caleb, you are Kaylee Ming, Correct?" Caleb of course knew who she was but had to introduce them before giving the warning. If the warning didn't work then he would haev to try step 2. Persuasion and so forth.

Mother effin' jinx! Kaylee thought, pretending to ignore the fact that the new kid was sitting next to her. Why her of all people? Tommy was one of the cool (albeit stupid) kids. Being next to him would skyrocket his popularity. This kid was weird. She continued to ignore his presence, taking notes and flipping back to her sketch. She liked Durga, the goddess she was sketching. The woman-deity was strong and fearsome, but still loved by all and revered amongst the gods. A role model of sorts. Kaylee laughed to herself. If only she also had that many arms. Life would be so much easier. He started to speak to her. "Stalking and reckless driving aren't good for your track record. Then again, those girls seem to love the bad-ass-ness about you. Maybe you should try talking to them. It'll be fun watching them cry at your funeral," she replied coldly, jerking a thumb at the glaring girls. She added in the third eye to the goddess, smiling at her work.

Caleb whispered back to her "I know you see death and prevent it when you can Ms. Ming, but, you need to stop. The next you see die, will happen. Wether you intervene with your life or not." Caleb closed his notebook as soon as the bell rung and stood up. "I suggest watching your step, as a mental note to you. Oh and I don't stalk, much" he added the last bit as sort of teasing like. Walking out of the classroom other girls followed him glaring at her still.

Kaylee ignored him. Perhaps he was on drugs or something. Even though their hallucinations were a lot closer to truth than usual, they were still hallucinations. Besides, he was just too...teenage to her to really seem like anything strange. Not to mention, he was really annoying. She held her notebook under her arm as she headed off to her next class. If the guy really were high, Kaylee couldn't wait to see him get busted. Idiots like him, she didn't tr to prevent their deaths. There were some things she could do and others she couldn't.

Kaylee ignored the glares of girls as she sat down in her English class, hoping to avoid another run-in with Druggie-Wonder.

(lol nice, last post for tonight)

Caleb headed to his gym class which he got glares from most of the guys, and girls if you count the swooning, but, luckily not all girls swooned. The quiet ones didn't and it was peaceful but gym class wasn't peaceful or supposed to be. 'This should be easy' he thinks to himself as they are told to start with 25 push ups. Then move on to 25 sit ups. Shaking his head and standing off to the side he remembered F.A.T.E. saying 'Don't cause too much attention' the teahcer looked at him. "Too easy or too hard new boy?" coach Tanner (my other irl couch in elem. and high now) spoke. "Too easy for my tastes" he spoke "Then make it 50 each" "too easy" "prove it, make it 100" and with that he proved it to the whole class. He had his own sessions back at the academy with stricter teachers. Now the boys had to run several laps because of him including him. He wore shorts above the knees and a white t-shirt with brown tennis shoes.

The bell rang, causing the whole class to jump up and pack their things, hoping to run out of the essay-test that was being administrative in the room. Kaylee started to pack as well, but not with as much enthusiasm as her classmates. She stretched, popping the bones in her back, which relaxed her stiff body greatly. Going out to the hallway caused her irritation to peak as she head girls whispering of Druggie-Wonder's new feat of being very athletically capable. Kaylee had the urge to punch him in the face. Swooning girls were just as annoying as seeing the deaths of druggies who very much deserved it. She felt like crap, but couldn't do anything about it. Heading off to her Calculus class, sat down and focused on math. Any more crazy drama in her day and she would scream.

Classes went by as a blur for Caleb as he kept an eye on Kaylee to make sure she doesn't try anything. On the way out of school he got a text before getting to his motorcycle and it read

'How is the mission?' he texted back 'Slow, nothing bad is happening to prove she has the abilities besides this morning' 'Alright, sending some death your way' 'Good'

and with that he got on his bike waiting for her. They lived across the street now as a new family and he was hoping something good would happen soon and it would now. More like something bad with a kick of dangerous that is.

School was over. It went by quicker than she had thought. No run-ins with the popular crowd and no more meetings with Druggie-Wonder. (She really didn't care for his name at all at this moment.) Kaylee looked at her scabs in the mirror of the school bathroom, deciding just to say that she tripped in her physical education class. Highly unbelievable, but it would be what she stuck by. Hopefully her aunt and uncle wouldn't be home so she could dress them more properly. Hopping on her bike, Kaylee started to ride home, watching to avoid Druggie-Wonder, who also came from the same direction as she.

Caleb put his cell away and headed to his new house for the time being, on the way there he saw Kaylee on her bike. He had taken time out of watching her because several people came over to him after school and it was hard to get them to leave. Especially when he wanted to killing everyone of them for being annoying. After leaving and seeing Kaylee F.A.T.E. had already began to launch their attack as the house where the little boy was living had caught on fire. Seeing this he stopped on the side of the road and put his bike stand down. Leaning against it and waited to see if this Kaylee Ming character would do anything to help the little boy whom was screaming inside. His mother was outside screaming for her son but the firefighters said it was waaaaay to dangerous for them to go in for the kid since it could collapse any minute now.

Kaylee nearly fell off her bed as another vision hit her. The boy again. She groaned. What was this? Something was against her or the boy and it was terrifying. She rode faster to the burning house and saw, unfortunately, people blocking her way. She also saw Druggie-Wonder again, seeing his impassive face as he watched the burning house. Did he have no compassion at all? Kaylee rode towards the back of the house, hiding from the firefighters. The numbers were clearer in the back and it was obvious that this was a better solution than going through the front. Kaylee took off her T-shirt hoodie and wrapped it around her fist, punching through the window and then clearing the glass away.

The house was hot, too hot. "Tyler!" she yelled, hearing the boy crying. He was hiding under the table, the fire surrounding him. Kaylee cautiously crawled over to him, holding her shirt over her nose and mouth. She stepped on the fire, blotting out very little of it, but enough to reach the boy. "Come here," she said with a soft smile, pulling the boy to her and hiding his face to her chest so that no smoke could enter his little lungs anymore. "We're getting out of here..."

Kaylee kicked the back door open and ran out before roof could collapse on her. She took her bike and headed back towards the front. The firefighters yelled in surprise at seeing a teenage girl emerging from the burning building with the child in her arms. "Tyler!" his mother yelled, rushing forward. The boy yelled for his mother and Kaylee handed him over. The paramedics were already trying to get the pair to the hospital and now they tried to get her as well. "I was only in there for ten minutes I'll be fine," Kaylee replied tiredly. She passed by Druggie. With a grunt, she punched him in the side.

(You mean bike not bed lol)

"Keep watching, it aint over just yet" Caleb spoke blocking the punch with one hand and pulling her close so she could hear what he had to tell her where others couldn't hear. The sun was still out, people were talking happily, and Tyler was with his mother whom were walking around a car to get to theirs and a new pair of close for him. When all of a sudden, a car comes out of no where and flips in the air after trying to avoid hitting the mother and child. It lands and skids hitting both mother and her child. After awhile the car stopped moving and exploded in the end with a small noise just enough to engulf the flames and people as the screams faded. "I told you to watch every step, death will always get what it wants" Caleb spoke letting the girl go and waiting for a response of any kind.

Kaylee's mind spun, seeing everything change so fast. The numbers went red and quickly plummeted to zero. The visions, the car coming before it actually came. Colors and sounds exploded in her mind, making it thud painfully. Before she knew it, death as here. The black apparition pulled the two with it's skeletal arms. The mother was crying and so was the child. Kaylee fough to get of of Druggie's arms, but she couldn't. A pained scream tore itself from her throat as she saw the figures disappear, leaving nothing but the shells their bodies now were.

Upon hearing the words from Druggie's mouth, her anger exploded. She flipped the teenager over her shoulder and tossed him straight to the ground. "You ass!" she yelled through tears. Kaylee didn't even bother with her bike, the just turned and ran home.
