I didn't know Australia wasn't into it.
In the US though, sometimes it feels like you shouldn't want candy once you pass a certain age. Like sometimes it feels like people just expect you to go to parties and drink and act stupid once you're older than 12.

I would like a little Australian attitude toward Halloween in the US.

Yeah, Halloween isn't a thing here pretty much at all. In all my 18 years I think I've had 1 trick-or-treater, and while young people will sometimes do costume parties it's seen as very American. Like, people will maybe do it a little, especially with all the American media saturation and America's obsession with Halloween bleeding over into our pop culture, but it's basically a non-event here.

We don't get many trick-or-treaters in our neighborhood. Its mostly older/elderly people and also strict Orthodox Jewish families who actually do have small children but they don't celebrate/participate in Halloween because its against the rules of their religion.

I don't like the theme of Halloween, so the hype gets annoying.

Ah, that makes sense Kitami. Where I live is largely a lot of families and is very close to a primary school, so I suppose if this were America we'd be a pretty prime spot for trick-or-treating.
