Well unless you're of the hermit type, usually interaction on a site like menewsha involves give as well as take. Sure you earn gold and items from events, but you also give time and advice and make friends. When you have charities, you step it up a notch giving away various items, while at the same time finding yourself saving and scrounging. If things became or remained stagnant, then people wouldn't be able to attain their goals all over the place.
