My younger sister, who has severe medical problems, traveled to Ireland and Scotland right before her health took a turn for the worse. While on the flight across the Atlantic her nose began bleeding and the flight attendants had been warned that she was American Disabled. They bumped her to first class and pampered the hell out of her because of a simple nose bleed.
I struggle with depression and some days I have really low days.
I'll be okay.
Sorry to hear about your younger sister, Clair Voyant :( is she the one you had mentioned before with Marfan's syndrome? Was the nose bleed related to her condition?
And sorry to hear that, Clair Voyant <3 I guess today was one of those low days :( but it is good to read that you will be okay
onsenmark - oh wow, I didn't know ^^ for some reason I usually default to assuming that people have been on an airplane at least once but I guess that is not the case
I don't mind flying; I've done it many many times. The only issue is that a few times when the airplane was landing, I couldn't release the pressure buildup in my head and got extremely painful explosive head-splitting headaches. You know how your ears get popped and then they're supposed to unpop when you open your mouth or swallow ^_^; well when my nose is runny or stuffy on the airplane, I have a really hard time unpopping my ears and keeping them unpopped. So it builds up and leads to the extremely painful explosive head-splitting headaches. But the majority of flights have been fine.
Plug your nose and try and blow out your nose at the same time.
Usually unplugs after a few seconds.
Well people have suggested that method and many others to me many times, but it didn't work for me ^_^; and I tried just about every method in the book every single time I got the explosive headaches to try to get rid of them.
All of those methods work for me only when my ears are popped like in the car or another mild situation. But not during those few times the airplane descended while my nose was stuffed...those situations were quite severe.
Unfortunately, I don't think most people even understand what I mean by the explosive headache because they've never experienced it. Well, I guess that is a good thing that the whole plane isn't crying in pain when the airplane descends, haha. They try to be helpful by suggesting to swallow or blow out with the nose plugged or poking a finger in the ear and quickly taking it out again or other methods. But those methods have not worked for me in those particular situations ^_^;
Do you know about the paranasal sinuses and anatomy of the head and such ^_^ and if so, you can probably understand or figure out what could be the reason for the headache (I should really call it head, face, cheek, entire skull ache because that's how it feels)
I actually did figure one thing out though. The only thing that worked for me, which I had to figure out myself, was forcing myself to yawn as much as possible. That helped a lot. I yawned so much and it was so great <3

I'm surprised you had to figure out the yawning thing yourself o.o that's actually the only method I've heard or come across other than the swallowing thing. And it works for me too ^^
Siren Sonder, funny enough no one ever suggested the yawning method to me. But I am glad to have figured it out for myself and glad to hear that you are aware of it too ^_^
Hiya Clair Voyant! I have exams coming up, which is why I haven't been as active. But rest assured that I am here! Just busy with studying for the next few weeks. But I'll pop in when I can!
Here is a youtube video I watched a few days ago ^_^
I miss in-and-out <3 Well, I've only had it once or twice but found it delicious. And that was before I knew about their secret menu, monkey style, and all that jazz ^_^ it's on my bucket list!
