White clouds rolled overhead, spaces dotted in between where rays of sunlight cast across the city, like divine lights that seemed to be searching through the shade, looking for something beyond mortal understanding. Or perhaps it was simply a natural phenomena, but the possibility was a dreamlike thought that anyone who dabbled in magic could take into account and feel the wonder of the moment.

Of course such things were lost on lesser minds, even among those of the magic persuasion. Mages, powerful beings that stood as paragons of humanity, even when some turned bad, it was their own kind who would combat them. The power of mages dwarfed their human compatriots so much that in history they were an object of contempt and terror, yet now they were their greatest allies, doctors, inventors of great magical devices and indeed, weapons, weapons of the military.

All humans contain some level of magical power, but only the gifted few could actually control it, once it was no longer under suspicion it was the governments that began to create institutions dedicated to finding these gifted people and raising them, teaching them to turn their abilities towards positive ends. In a world where a Master level Mage could destroy even a missile long before it touched the ground, it was they who became deterrents of war.

And all the while, as generations turned to present day, Noble families of Mages cropped up in secret societies that soon turned to the government, it was they who helped establish the initial teachings, of course it was also they who decided whom could enter which schools of Magic, based on suitability and of course breeding.
So it was a thing of curiosity when a first generation child entered schools reserved for those born multiple generations down the line. They were rarely treated very well by their fellow classmates if such information ever got out.

It was in the city of New Westland that three academies had been established. The Lions Court, a school for first generations to third, children in this school were never expected to develop into much more than Adept in their lifetime, or Expert Mages if they were lucky. There was The Serpents Fall, restricted to third, fourth and fifth generation students, expected to become Experts in their chosen fields, with only a handful ever becoming masters and finally The Griffons Stand Academy. Restricted to Sixth generation Noble families or higher.

Those taken to Griffons Stand were expected in their lifetime to become Experts and Masters of their field without fail, or shame their family name. Of course to some families, these restrictions were ludicrous fabrications, but the higher families rarely wanted to recognize the potential of lesser families or it would diminish their own bloodline to admit that powerful mages could be born outside the main families.

And it was the insult of the Grandall Government, specifically their Military branch, the Temple Guard, pushing some of these lower generation students into higher schools that ultimately resulted in such imbalanced treatment, the parents of said noble families would express outrage and the children, ignorant to the deeper meaning of it all would simply fall in line and their attitudes would reflect their parents behavior.
In some respects, it never really grew beyond the behavior of normal mortals, mundanes were still separated between who was better and who wasn't, but there was always chagrin aimed towards their Mage brethren sooner or later. The terms Witch or Wizard becoming an common insult among their kind.

Among supposed First Generation students was a young woman, Lucianna Crawford, but even among the First Gens, she was viewed as strange. It wasn't unusual in this day and age to dye ones hair or have magic poly-morph ones appearance to a desired taste, but Lucianna's sheet white hair and steely gray eyes caught all who first met her off-guard, or perhaps it was her strange attitude. Where other girls would prance about, flirt, act like typical girls, she would remain silent and watch, always watching, as if looking through them all. They could barely have been said to have existed at all to her, not the way she looked at them.

The boys who approached her often left confused, never quite able to figure out the strange little enigma that she presented, a mystery they couldn't figure out, a puzzle box with no clear way to solve. She had something of a stigma about her, so most tended to avoid her, after all, she rarely spoke unless spoken to, she performed magic in ways that could have been considered constrained effort, as though she were always holding back.
In dueling tests she always lost, but she never displayed frustration or concern about these failures, no-one had ever seen even a flicker of anger or sadness, but at the same time, she'd never even been witnessed smiling or laughing. A smart man would say she was deliberately trying to be unremarkable, but any foolish teen her age would say she simply couldn't hack it at a school for the noble families; A prime example of why First Generation children didn't belong there. The smart man, at least, would be correct.

She found herself that day, staring at the clouds in a manner she herself didn't consider normal. Upon a terrace during lunch break, away from other students in a seating area, a parasol raised above the table itself as a cold breeze caught her hair.
A simple story book was in her hand, it was some strange tale about vampires and some ridiculous twist that claimed they glittered in sunlight. Everyone knew that direct exposure to sunlight merely weakened vampires into purely mortal strength, making them as easy to destroy as any human.

But the truth was this strange book was the latest craze among normal girls, so she was trying to comprehend it, except once the endless drivel seemed too much to understand; she simply set it down in her lap and looked up at the clouds. She was watching the rays of light casting themselves across the silver sky-line of the many buildings surrounding the academy, since it at on such a building itself, elevated above the city.
And it was in her thoughts; the very dreamlike idea that perhaps something divine was searching the city, looking for something in a way that she simply couldn't comprehend. Yet, even if it was so, she didn't care. The sight of it alone was beautiful to her as sunlight gleamed off whitewashed stone and steel, bathing the streets below and afar in their momentary radiance.

The Griffons Stand Building below it, referred jokingly amongst students and teachers alike as the nest, served as an apartment complex for the students to live in while they were there, but they were never allowed to leave and enter the city except on weekends or holidays. They could return to their families, or they could roam the city, always expected to keep proper decorum.
But exploring the city wasn't really something Lucianna ever did and she didn't exactly have a family to return to. So this was her life, she was content enough with it, she supposed, the words of her fellow students aside, she was definitely happy just being here for now.

The good thing about the school that most of the kids liked was the isolation from the city itself. Sure it was close for them to get to and even if they wanted to try to sneak out. However, there was a gate of warding magic to keep the humans, and any unwanted guests out. Lately it had been known that something outside the school was going on, something that wasn't good, but no one really could explain it. The distance away from the rest of the world made some things seem so small while in the school.

Sitting in one of the trees on a high branch Jade Wilson smiled at the group he hung around with each day laughing away. They were making fun of the normies, or in short, humans. Anyone who was considered normal or human was called a 'Normie' no one knew why or who made up the word, but it fit them so well, and worked as a great insult whenever they would use insults towards those in the school. "So you're telling me that Christian actually said that? Oh wow, you've got to be kidding me" one of the girls dressed in more brighter colors and a skirt, she was known as Anabella and always went by her full name rather than some nickname. She was the second generation who didn't like anyone, but made friends with everyone to get anything she wanted.

"Jade come on, you heard her" Anabella laughed looking up at the boy in the tree, he seemed to love trees alot, and climbing everything whenever he was around it. He would ace his athletics, but when it came to dueling no one could ever figure out if he was holding back or just didn't care. Which in his case was both, he didn't see the point of using his powers against someone in a fake battle or anything if there was nothing for him to claim satisfaction. Though he did or would use his powers against his own kind, even humans whenever he would leave the school. Everyone had to get out every once in a while or they would probably go crazy with just the stress of confinement. Not like there wasn't those who liked to be confined, but he wasn't one of them.

Jade always looked at the world with his eyes, not anyone else's eyes which usually was filled with hatred outside of these walls. "Hey hey, don't get me involved, I was just passing by" he held his hands up in defense with a smile not wanting to get involved in this petty little drama. Anabella looked up at him "Why do you never agree with us? We're the ones here that choose to be your friends, why don't you just be like us, it would be alot easier" Anabella spoke as her boy friend walked up behind her as if to say 'I got your back' which was odd because there was no fight here.

Jade shook his head, he had met alot of elves along the way, yet Anabella was one of the few that believed because she was born with two different elf bloods flowing through her that she was god sometimes. Shaking his head he jumped down from the branch "Why would I want to be around the likes of you any longer than I have to? You're just toys to me, nothing new, once I get bored with hanging with you, I switch to something better" Jade responded still being as careless as ever. The elves that Jade knew couldn't always do magic, but they still had the potential for it. They focused on the fighting styles and strategies more than anything else. Anabella wasn't like that, she was more about her appearance and her social standards even if no one liked her parents.

"You can't find anyone else better than us to hang out with" Anabella spoke making Jade roll his green eyes at her to turn and walk away "I can find someone much better than you to be so-called 'friends' with" he had a feeling he would regret this later on or that he should. He would regret some things, but most of the time he didn't.

Lucianna was so distracted by the sight that she hadn't really been paying attention to nearby conversation. Som ways down the terrace some of the other Mage students were gathered, including one of the most mouthy elves Lucianna had the displeasure of knowing. Then again Anabella was one of only a handful of Elf Folk she had known but she certainly didn't set much of an example, at least not one Lucianna truly considered worth considering. She supposed it was the elf girl's eagerness to prove she belonged that made her such an unpleasant individual. She was only a second generation Mage herself, so fitting in with all these nobles meant going that extra mile. Didn't she have even the slightest inkling of shame in her heart?

Her attention was only drawn to the group whens he sensed something, a stirring that she felt more strongly than anyone. Whilst those with acute senses could start to tell when things were going south, Lucianna was gifted with a higher form of such an ability. She honestly didnt know how she had acquired it but as long as she'd been aware, she could always feel the hostility of others, almost as if they were broadcasting their hatred loud and clear, no matter how much they would grit their teeth and contain it. Maybe some Mages could learn after a time to sense hatred too, but Lucianna could always feel that emotion.

And it was the anger of some individuals along the Terrace that provoked a reaction. She shifted a little in her seat and turned ever slightly, turning her head so she could look at the group. Anabella's boyfriend had a coffee in his hand and a grin on his face, whatever that other boy had been saying, it clearly turned him to the brink of malice as he got himself in position, readying the still mostly full drink and aiming it at Jade. The rise in his hate was practically clear as day to Lucianna. She turned away, flipping the book open again, her eyes fell on the pages, but she read nothing.

Her action was subtle and small, no-one could have seen it, at least none of those fools as she rested her hand on the table, leaning on her arm , her finger softly tapping the surface whilst she continued to stare at the page, however upon the fifth tap of her finger, a small white spark came to life, suddenly surging down the leg of the table and along the terrace. It melded in nicely with the white flagstones that decorated the floor. The boyfriend tossed his beverage-come-payload at Jade, yet when it was in the air between himself and Anabella, the white spark leaped up, catching the coffee and there rupturing it. It exploded, showering both the boyfriend with a spray and his precious, suddenly insulted girlfriend in the fluid.

It was an instant of stunned silence at first before several of the other nearby teens started bursting out laughing at the misfortune that had suddenly befallen the leaders of their little group. Anabella's colorful uniform was soaked and her neatly permed hair now filled with sticky black coffee and cream. Lucianna didn't shift at all, but the wryest of smiles crept onto her face as she listened to the outrage, they were so dumb and blind to what had happened that they couldn't even conceive how that had occurred.

Lucianna quickly reigned in her smile, once more turning her attention towards them but this time in particular to stare that the original intended target of the coffee-bomb. Jade Wilson, if she remembered rightly. In some ways she almost wanted to say he was like her, she could see the lazy attitude, the reluctance to partake in dueling seriously. A member of a higher generation family, perhaps it was some arrogant line he'd used, said something to upset the lower generation children. Lucianna was no stranger to that kind of behavior, but she didn't think it warranted attacking a man from behind, no matter how non-lethal the assault.

She didn't stare for too long, mostly because they would start looking for some-one to blade. Blaming Jade would have seemed foolish and redundant, he had his back turned and by their meager scope of the situation he probably was completely unaware. So it meant looking for some-one else to blame, she had no interest in attracting that particular kind of attention, no matter how much she wanted to take credit for messing up the boyfriends carefully planned attack with such little effort. Instead she returned to trying to comprehend the book in her hand once again. That Jade boy probably wouldn't want anything to do with her, best to just ignore him and let him be on his way.

Paying no attention to what had just happened behind him until he heard Anabella shrieking and the noise began to grow. Turning around slightly to see her covered in coffee was enough to make him smirk, if he laughed at a time like this he surely would drag out more negativity to himself, and he would probably get in trouble by the teachers. Jade looked around for someone else to hang with, however he didn't think anyone would dare go near him since he just had an argument, well a slight petty one with one of the so-called popular girls of the school in her level.

Looking around he shrugged wondering what he should do as he walked away taking notice of the girl he had seen before. He knew a little bit about her, Lucianna was known as the longer, and the one that creeped everyone out. Now curiosity got his brain started wondering what was the reason why everyone was afraid of her or thought she was creepy. He had to figure it out, so he made his way away from the crowd sitting at the opposite end of the table from her. He hadn't even realized what he had done until he was now sitting across from her. There was a strange magical energy coming from her, similar a bit to his, but not exactly the same.

Jade kept silent hearing Anabella walking away and looked over at the book. It would be awkward and strange if he just sat down without saying anything. Not to mention, he figured the girl would get up and leave without saying anything. If she was a loner he better be careful as to what he was doing or what he would say so he wouldn't offend anyone. Last thing he needed was this girl to be like his cousin who tried to kill him for accidentally saying something he shouldn't. He felt like people were staring at him though he wasn't sure if they were or not. Sometimes he felt like that and no one would be or he would be all alone. "Is that a good book?" Jade didn't read, he was an active mage, someone who chose to run around and do something rather than sit still, and read. Which is probably why he wouldn't do good on reading assignments.

Lucianna froze as Jade got closer. Had he found her out? Did he figure out she caused that little mess? Or was he on.. What was the term..? A bun? No wait no, that didn't seem correct. A bread? No. A roll...? No no no. On a bread! It had to be that, well, maybe not, she wasn't sure, why would anyone be on a baked good anyway? Either way the point was it was likely he was here to pester her next. Yet he didn't seem to be starting, in fact, if anything, she had a vague idea that he was being hesitant. And more importantly, she didn't sense malice form him.

Why had not not noticed that before? Perhaps it came down to her confusion at the situation. Jade Wilson, one of the most popular guys in the school, maybe it was his cool, elite attitude, perhaps a little lazy, but otherwise he seemed to attract attention. Perhaps it was his status as one of the prodigal sons of the noble Wilson family that attracted them. And there was also his face.. Among the other young men, well, she supposed something must have been intriguing enough about it to attract all those girls, perhaps it was the eyes.

She still remained frozen as he asked his question, but she was staring at him quietly, not through him, at him, curiously caught in this suddenly strange predicament. If she couldn't sense evil intent, then he wasn't here to hurt her or yell at her or call her names or spout off in his arrogance about his family. All things she'd come to expect from anyone in his position.

When she finally identified that she was just staring at him blankly, she registered his question in her mind and stared at the book again, paused briefly and shut it softly, setting it down on the table, looking at him directly again,
"To be honest... I do not understand it.." She replied softly, barely seeming fazed at all by his presence, as if she'd practically talked to him the whole time she'd been at the school. She calmly lowered her gaze to the book and folded her arms,
"The characters are one-dimensional, the strange ideas the writer has about vampires are bizarre and the majority of the writing is nonsensical drivel. And I do not understand the appeal of the female lead mindlessly pining after a male whose desires and restraints are so vastly contradictory that they could loop in upon themselves and pull the entire universe into a void of utter confusion." She paused and looked up at Jade again, her brow shifting ever slightly, a little confusion actually imprinting on her face,
"What brought you to me? This is a little irregular.."

Jade was someone who thought less than most people did, he would act on things, and most of the time he would get himself in trouble that way. Though now he was in wonder about the girl who sat across from him. "So a girl chases after a vampire...who doesn't sound like a vampire, what makes him different than other vampires, at least they don't sparkle right?" he had no idea which book it was, but he knew of the book. He never read it either, he was told to try by one of the other girls, and he couldn't get past the first page.

Shrugging he spoke casually "Not really sure" he did it all out of curiosity, though he wasn't afraid of this one, actually he didn't think there was a girl out there that he 'was' afraid of. Jade didn't really do fear very much and when he did, well he could't remember the last time unless he was about to get an hour or longer of a lecture from an adult for doing something he shouldn't have. Or having his piercings in when the school obviously doesn't allow them, though his status helps a bit with that, and he is actually grateful for the most part. "Why? Should I not talk to you?" he asked with a slight smile just being himself.

Luckily for both of them, everyone else went back to doing what they were doing, okay well most of them did at least. The popular group had walked away in order to get Anabella into another uniform, they were popular for different reasons rather than family titles. Anabella being a Hybrid thought her kind was stronger than any pure blood out there. Which sadly for her, she would find out the hard way.

The girl stared at him curiously, when he also showed amusement at the idea of vampires sparkling, she picked up the book, stared at it for a moment then set it aside, perhaps she would return it to the library before the nonsense in it harmed her thought processes. This boy was a different sort, this was clear enough, but the situation was still strangely uncomfortable, she was still so unaccustomed with the idea of anyone talking to her at all, let alone one of the upper echelons. He wasn't even sure whe he'd come to talk to her, but what really threw her off guard for a moment was his own question.
"Should I not talk to you?"

Lucianna stared at him, stunned, her eyes had grown perhaps a little wider, like she was waking up from simply dozing, perhaps that was exactly what had been happening as a sliver of reality began to dawn on her.
He doesn't care, this simple reasoning hit her mind and she found herself smiling just a little, perhaps unaware of herself, though her mouth moved before she could process this realization entirely,
"You are a member of a Noble family, are you not? Why should you want to talk with a First Generation like me?" She asked, tilting her head curiously, why was she asking this? She already knew he didn't care, but she wanted to hear it, she wanted to confirm it in some other manner, "In all of the social interactions I have observed among the residents of this facility, those of the upper noble class of Mage would frequently avoid the lower generations, treat them as intruders, or act as though the lower generations are insults to the pride of their family, or to the school. Any even reasonably tolerant behaviour between the two is forced at best, a facade of fake smiles to placate rules of etiquette."

She sat a little straighter, staring at Jade in the same curious, placid fashion, grey eyes practically unblinking as she fixed him with a stare, conscious of all he would say or do,
"Even a conversation between you and I would be considered a severe anomaly in a system of perfect order balancing your superiority against my inferiority. I do not see contempt in you, or indignation at my presence, I do not feel even the slightest hint of anger. But still, this anomaly is one the rest of the system would prefer to fix, it does not fit with the unwritten laws in the back of their minds." She shifted her gaze towards other students. She could already see the whispers behind hands, the words on their lips, the secret names they thought she couldn't see them calling her, gossiping about some-one as prestigious as Jade Wilson talking to that weird nobody girl.

It was perhaps her way of dehumanizing her analysis of the situation that made her seem so strange, her way of speaking that turned everything into cold, unsympathetic words and phrases that were as empty as they sounded. She didn't speak like a girl, she barely acted like any normal one. She was more interested in Jade's motivations than the petty details like his heritage, or the fact that he was pretty cute, or that he was popular, none of these things affected her.
Lucianna looked at him again. It was almost perfectly timed as one of the rays of sunlight from on high began to cross the terrace, haloing Jade's blonde hair in a golden hue, her own silvery-white hair reflecting the light that surrounded her in a similar celestial glow, although it silhouetted her pale face a little, making her seem almost like a darker individual.

To anyone they would have looked like two otherworldly beings in that moment, facing one another in simple conversation, but soon the light faded and the clouds above began to shut themselves entirely. Lucianna twitched slightly as she heard thunder roll overhead. She looked up, at least as well as she could, past the parasol to the slowly darkening clouds. It was only midday, this could mean only one thing. Rain was coming. But it felt strange, it felt almost as if the sky itself was angry.
She hand unconsciously retracted slightly, arms crossing over one another and gripping one another tightly as though she were trying to ward away the cold. Her hands were shaking, but her face remained stoic, near expressionless as she retreated her head under the parasol. The smell of distant rain on asphalt was filling her nose. It would be there soon. But she looked at Jade quietly before lowering her eyes to the table,
"You are strange to me. But if I were to have it my way. I would like you to talk with me. It would be a welcome change."

Again the words escaped her before she could stop herself. Had she really meant to say that? Or was it the fact that she was already feeling that welcome change that suddenly loosened her tongue a little? She already knew better of Jade. Perhaps she had been unkind to go into the rough, obvious details as to why he shouldn't have been talking with her.
And so maybe she wanted in some way to let him know that she wasn't as disinterested as she sounded. Or maybe she even wanted to apologize for her rude behavior, but she wasn't sure how. There were many things she'd left unsaid, many things she wanted to say but she already felt like she'd spoken more than her share, so instead she simply lowered her head to him and finished her foolish talk with a single word,
"Sorry,"

Jade listened as he wondered what else would be asked, he realized this girl had figured if she wasn't on someone's level that the higher level person wouldn't have any reason to speak to her or those on her level. So it probably did wind up confusing her, he could see why, and how that would come across her mind if it did. "Social levels are helpful, but not important to me" which was true, they could be helpful or useful when it came to using the connections you had, but there was no reason he would care about the way it would make his life. Listening to what she had to say about social groups and the way things revolved or worked around the school. "I don't do etiquette" just because he was a higher level student, didn't mean he cared for things like that, he was pretty carefree most of the time.

"Change isn't a bad thing, usually it's meant for the better, and good because as far as what I see right now. I like talking to you even if those behind us doesn't agree with it" he felt like he wanted to do something about it, to make them stop, but there wasn't a way he could without a good enough reason to himself. "What, don't like the rain?" He asked waiting for a response, watching her thinking maybe she feared storms or something happened to make her not like them as much. He didn't mind storms, they were magic to him, and science all in one. "Don't apologize for simply having a conversation with someone. I don't know why I chose to talk to you out of something and I simply don't care about reputations around the school or not. I come to learn as I was told to and I venture out on my own time. I don't think like the others, in fact I choose to act more than think" Jade spoke.

Lucianna looked up at him again, still her expression remained largely unchanged, but she found herself staring at him still, the image of that faint golden glow around him remained in her mind as she sat back in her chair again. The girl was glad her suspicions were correct, he didn't care, he denounced it all right in front of her and for once she felt like maybe she had found some-one who understood her confusion. She pondered his question about the rain for a moment as he spoke to her about apologizing and change.

She was right. He really was strange. An anomaly, a pleasant one at that, though she looked aside and upwards at the clouds again as they rumbled again,
"The rain does not bother me so much.." She answered his question first, again her hands shook as she gripped her elbows tightly, thunder rumbled overhead once more and she swallowed slightly, "It is hard to describe.. I feel like the sky is angry." Lucianna could only choose that as her best description, it was the anger of others she always tried to avoid, so to feel as though the sky was angry, even if it were perhaps just an estranged belief.

Lucianna glanced at him again, lifting one of her hands and placing it over the right side of her chest, not the left as she gripped her uniform there softly,
"It hurts here, whenever I am close to some-one angry or full of malice, or when there is thunder in the sky. I am fully accustomed to pain, after all, I hold the standing record for losses in duels, but pain of the body is easy to heal. I tried to use restorative magic but the pain does not subside," She lowered her hand, keeping arms close to herself as she tried to puzzle over it, however then just shook her head, concluding her thoughts on the matter,
"It is a strange discomfort.."

His philosophy stuck in Lucianna's mind, simply acting more than thinking, nothing complex about it, it was so much easier to understand, but she glanced aside slightly,
"I am told often; Think before you act. Analyze a situation and react accordingly. Do not cause problems for others. Do not attract attention. But every rule seems to increase the time I need to consider my situation, all I ever do is analyze and watch," She raised her hand to her chin as she frowned slightly, staring at the book on the table,
"And in spite of all I have learned by watching the social interactions between the others at this school, there are still things I do not understand. Strange things they do.. I tried reading dictionary entries or literature related to the same kinds of subject matter but I found myself even more confused, yet when I asked people what they gleaned from kissing, they either looked at me as though I were strange, or laughed at me. Could you tell me what is so important about it?" Lucianna leaned toward him intently, she was dead serious about asking, or as serious as she could get, if for once she could talk to some-one who wouldn't laugh at her about not knowing these things.

And all the while, as she spoke, the rain started to fall, but they were only little droplets to begin with, the tiniest drops falling around, gently dancing across the rooftops of the city, the whitewashed stone around them beginning to turn slightly darker for every little bit of rain, they were safe enough beneath the parasol for now though.

Jade thought for a moment, it's not like he hadn't kissed girls before, but the magic part of him made it a bit difficult on his end sometimes. He shrugged "When you really like someone, you usually wait for the right moment, and kiss them. It's uh a way to show you care about someone, as if saying you 'love' them. You must be talking about relationship wise instead of family wise." Jade spoke thinking a bit to himself "It's hard to explain really" it would be easier to show someone what it was like than explaining it, though he could have explained it would have been a wondrous feeling or should be.

The rain began to start a bit more as Jade looked up at the sky, the rain started to pour out of no where when it seemed after a few moments went by. "Okay I am not in the mood to get soaked" he mumbled as his eyes sparked a bit of silver-purple from the magic going back to the blue as something like a bubble shield kept them both from getting wet. "What class do you have next?" now he was just keeping the conversation going.

Lucianna stared at him, almost turning a sheet white at his explanation of what a kiss was supposed to be before she withdrew a little as thought cringing at the thought of something before she leaned forward again,
"I like you, so I am supposed to kiss you..?" She retorted, clearly missing the point, he spoke of love and family and it was these words that struck her as unknowable, the confusion simply continued to mount up in her mind before she simply put her hand to her head, "I do not even understand what love, relationships or families are." She added in a rather defeated fashion.

As he mentioned the coming rain, she stared up too, getting wet had never really been a concern for her, one of the earliest methods she'd learned for projecting her aura was to sit in the rain and maintain a shield of magic for as long as possible. For an untrained child it was a feat to hold it for longer than five minutes, now it was something she could do just as passively as Jade had done.
She stood up, gathered the book from the table and followed him. The other students had gone in as well, a little earlier than they did, they weren't willing to get wet either. With the falling rain she could see so much less of the city, it was the only thing she didn't like about rain, the magnificent view was hidden behind the constantly falling veil.

Lucianna half turned to him when he asked about her next class and she raised her hand to her chin again in contemplation, trying to remember her schedule for the day,
"It is.. Demi-Human Combat Theory.." This was actually well-timed, she could ask the Professor why the story in the book contradicted what biological studies of Demi-Humans, better known as monsters, had proven otherwise. Vampires and Lycanthropes were such Demi-Humans, infected with a curse or disease that made them malformed or abnormal creatures, it was often the job of a combat mage to deal with these beasts.

Demi-Human Combat Theory itself was just a fancy way of saying Monster Hunting, but Monster was considered an imprecise term and insensitive towards those turned creatures that didn't ask to be infected. The reality was it was a little difficult to discern which was which when both might attempt to tear your throat out if not in control of their power or impulses. There were other Demi-Humans besides, Elves even fell under that class once upon a time until they were recognized as a race of their own.

Once more thunder rumbled overhead and Lucianna's firm steps seemed to weaken as she almost tripped over her own feet, gripping the book tight. The girl caught herself well enough, straightening herself out and lowering her head. Maybe she really was afraid of thunder and lightning, but she was trying to put a brave face on it, where being brave meant forcibly keeping that blank appearance, no matter how much she wanted to cry out and find somewhere to hide.

There was a wave of relief that washed over her once they were inside, even if the weather outside was getting bad, at least inside she was somewhere safe, or at least that was what her body told her. But of course there came the new problem since she and Jade seemed to have entered at the same time and they were practically walking side by side. It wouldn't be long before some student or another started to make a fuss about it, she could already feel the glaring eyes on her even though she kept her head down.

Jade raised a brow "No, we would be acquaintances more than anything right now. You don't just kiss people you just met" or at least not like the way he was thinking as he shook his thoughts away. He wanted to ask her why didn't she know what love, family, or relationships were like. However, it was far too soon to ask those questions, and it would sound a little too nosy. After getting inside Jade lowered his aura shield heading towards the same way she was then stopped "Interesting class, is it any fun?" he didn't think it sounded that fun, but he did like more hands on activities. His athletics class would have been cancelled due to the rain that occurred, he had a feeling this storm was going to be a bad one. Did someone mess up a spell or something?

Jade remembered his next class was Herbology which held nine separate lessons on the subject. He wasn't going to be happy about taking any final exams over plants, he didn't even see how they were useful to them, or anyone else unless they were going to be white mages. Which was something he wasn't going to do. A white magic was someone who focused mostly on positive things and healing others when needed. They would be like the helper in a battle, just a healer in simple terms, and didn't or wouldn't have very much active magic to defend. Though they did or would have the basics. "That sounds better than Herbology" Jade stated, his tone dull because of the lack of interest in that subject.

"I enjoy attempting to learn anything," Lucianna first answered Jade, shifting her head a little to stare at him, however a slight look of disappointment crossed her face, "But in contradiction to the learning schedule I was provided with.." She shook her head softly, managing to lift her chin a little as she looked along the hall,
"Never mind," Lucianna finished. She could see the other students, some of whom were glaring their way, realization dawning on their faces as to who the two of them were. Some of them were messing with their network phones, spreading the gossip to their other friends in the school, this would likely turn into a new kind of hassle to contend with. But she wondered who it would affect more, herself or Jade..

On the inside she wanted to yell at them, tell them to shut up for once, mind their own business. She couldn't comprehend why they were so stuck on the estranged higher-lower generation system or what made them so different and special that they had the right to judge herself, or even Jade. Instead she gripped her book tightly to her chest and looked over at him again. Was he really willing to defy this natural order just to talk with her? His words from earlier ran through her mind, I choose to act more than think, how could he live in that way?

They still had some time before the next class was about to start, though, with everyone indoors, normally she went to hide in the library and continue reading, or to her room in The Nest to study. Mention of Herbology did manage to gain Lucianna's interest, she would have enjoyed the chance to choose her own lessons, at least that way she could have learned some truly useful things. Combat classes only had one purpose, to hurt other people, yet despite all her frustration, she wasn't allowed to put other students in harms way, she couldn't used her techniques against them, so instead she made a pitiful show of false attacks and simply defending, to try and make it like she was at least attempting to fight rather than simply letting herself lose every time.

Surely her combat instructors realized this about her? But then again, with the amount of times they'd spoken disapprovingly of her combat abilities, it seemed they remained rather blind, or perhaps it was simply a good excuse for even them to chide the first generation for either not taking it seriously or simply being useless. Lucianna reached up to her head again, rubbing at her temples in order to try and force the stress of her thoughts aside and think of different subject matter, she was being her usual silent self, this wasn't accomplishing talk of any kind with Jade,
"What is it like in the city?" She asked, grey eyes focusing on her new acquaintance, "I have lived the last years in this building and The Nest, but I have never explored outside of it."

Jade wondered what she was going to say about the contradiction to the learning schedule, he didn't know if she didn't understand it, or she couldn't find her classes. Jade did take in notice of the kids around them, but he wasn't about to leave just yet "Come on, let's go talk away from glass eyes" that term was meant as those who only saw one way and not both, seeing only what they want to see and not caring about the other side. "I know a quiet place we can go" which he did to, if she wanted to follow that was up to her, but he had started walking a bit answering her questions next.

"Hm...The city, how would one explain it?" Jade asked himself placing his hands behind his head as he walked thinking and looking up to the ceiling knowing where he was going. "The city during the day is loud, noisy, and very active. Though what I love to do is go out at night, when no one is around or people are going to bed" he didn't use the word normies, out of habit, he wasn't allowed to use terms like that at his home. Though he did stay in the school for his own reasons and to get away from home. Who wouldn't want to leave a controlling environment as a teenager or young adult? "At night it's a beautiful place, the moon is out, sometimes you see the stars, the breeze is wonderful, but the excitement for whatever waits in the dark is what intrigues me the most" Jade spoke smiling "I love how I can walk the streets without being insulted or bothered, how most out at night that late are more considerate to ignore others or not even see them or us in the first place. It's like another world; no rules, no cares, no reasons to do anything, except have fun. Running around casting magic, chatting up with people of all kinds, and then...the best part is staying out past midnight in the city" even though their curfew was midnight so they wouldn't be in danger.

Lucianna was confused for a moment, glass eyes? She was not actually familiar with that term, but either way he was inviting her to follow him, she could go along with this without much fuss, if it meant they weren't going to be bothered by other people for the remaining duration of the lunch break. The interior halls of the academy were all well decorated with fine runic inscriptions that glowed as the students pass, the floors a mix of polished stone flooring and red carpet strips that ran the length of every hallway. The walls were often decorated with various bits of material such as History plaques about various family histories, or recording names of past graduates in specific disciplines, outlining their grand successes.

She wasn't exactly sure where Jade was leading her, but she didn't care, actually more interested in his tale about the city outside, especially how he loved the night most of all. She couldn't believe the city would be entirely asleep, there would still be some life in a city, night security, like the guards posted around The Nest. Lucianna was so used to being in her own room once school hours were over that she couldn't even imagine being out past curfew. But the way he described the night, it almost reminded her of the view before the rain fell. Of course the visions were two different marvels, but the concept of beauty he seemed to describe was remarkably similar.

"Perhaps you can show it to me?" She suggested, looking at him calmly, "I would like to see it, but I do not think I would ever have been comfortable enough to leave the building on my own." This was true enough on her part. The world outside this building was so large, she had identified her smallness a long time ago and felt perhaps a little afraid that she would get lost out there. Ever since stepping foot in this place several years ago, she'd never been outside of it. She even watched buildings being constructed over time, watched them start from the ground and raise themselves to the sky,
"Would you lead me out there, Jade Wilson?" She asked, although she was also trying to understand where he was already leading her, curious about where they were going, she almost felt like she hadn't been in this part of the school before.

Jade never paid attention to the way the hallways looked in the school or anywhere else, then again anyone who appeared like him normally wouldn't care to think about the basics like that, and now he felt hungry. Good thing he always kept food with him whenever he needed it, not counting magic, magic food only gives the appearance not the fulfillment for food. Jade went up to the top close to where the room was, but stopped at a room right near the roof door. This was an old attic in the past, but they seemed to have moved it to make room for a magical garden of various sorts. Venus fly traps that were larger than them were in the room surrounded by beautiful flowers of all kinds. Some that looked like you could touch them and some didn't look real.

Nodding as he spoke "Sure, I can show you sometime if you're up to it" Jade stopped after he opened the door to the room with a key, there were only three actual keys, and he had two of them not trusting anyone else to use the room minus those with the ability of magic over earth who could get in without a key. The room had its own cozy breeze and clouds above as if they were really outside in the weather. However, it normally stayed sunny unless changed, but most liked to keep the weather a nice warm temperature for the plants. Though some in the very back liked it hotter and some on the side liked it colder.

It was right of Lucianna to think she'd never been here, although she had heard of there being a room like this in the academy, she had not explored it to that extent. Most of the plants being grown in there were probably for the same Herbology classes Jade was having to deal with, either for study or as research materials. The young woman couldn't help but feel in awe of it all as she looked around curiously.

Her steps into the garden area were tentative at first, her face remained calm, but the more she looked around, the more her reactions could have been considered curious. Her focus only turned tot he sky for a moment, she had seen an environment like this before, or at least, a synthesized sky, a culmination of magic and scientific engineering to create the perfect environment in which to test certain conditions..

Her real focus, however, was the plants, sure there were some basic gardens and a few trees outside on the Academy verandas and field area. But they were all so neat and trimmed that it simply didn't look or feel as natural as this room. The stoic expression was lost to something different, childlike wonder, something she hadn't experienced for a long time, eyes growing wide as she got closer to some of the plants, even the man-eating ones.

Yet there seemed to be no response from them at her approach, no defensive twitches, not even a single hair-trigger snap. All the while a silvery-white film-like glow was surrounding her, seeming to leave a faint trail, like a white shadow that followed her every movement. At the simplest touch, those plants that would normally attack some-one getting too close instead only moved slowly seeming frankly sluggish before returning to their ready position, waiting for a meal. She didnt even seem aware or concerned about them at all, or that she was somehow warding off their natural instinct to simply try to snap her up and consume her.

There was a smile on her face as she softly skirted around the plants, touching them gently,
"I have never seen so many plants before." She stated softly, "And they seem so full of life." Lucianna smiled even more, squatting down by a particular array of flowers hiding under the shade of a larger plant, Spirit Blossoms. The leaves looked normal at first, however they were fragile, it was the petals that were perhaps the strangest part of them, the petals only showed up at night, glowing faintly. The energy for this reaction was magical in nature.

She reached out with her hand to tap at what would have looked like thin hair, but instead she had touched those hidden petals, the flower in particular she touched lighting up in reaction to her own magic, she softly toyed with them, tapping them in sequence and grinning to herself,
"It has been a dream of mine to see a real garden, or a real forest, anything with real trees and plants. I am always confined to the cold hard materials of shaped wood, stone, concrete, glass and metal. Something like this almost seemed non-existent. If they would let me, I would have chosen to study Herbology.."

Jade watched leaning against his magic invisible wall he thought of, he didn't want to lean against any plants to harm them; watching her was quite interesting, he knew about her quite well, her reputation matched up until now. The quiet girl who kept to herself and didn't try her hardest in her classes. The one student, or one of the few that didn't care how they appeared to others, yet seemed so much stronger than anyone else would have thought. Or that's how Jade saw her, almost like his older sister he liked alot before things changed; pushing off the invisible wall walking over to him kneeling down to the ground next to her.

"I would trade with you if I could, I doubt they would let me" Jade answered knowing there was no way he was going to pass this class at all "I wonder if they would let me change if I told them I could do pass the class" then Jade thought that was stupid, of course they wouldn't let him change, they would just tell him to study, and do his work. Standing up stretching slightly he could hear the warning bell ring "Come we'll come back later" he thought for a moment, she was more amazed by the garden than any harmful thoughts towards it, and he knew this garden would instantly throw anyone out who was harmful even if the use of magic was involved.

Just a few months ago Anabella was thrown out because she kept trying to hit the venus fly trap like plant which used its vines to throw her out throw the open doorway. Then again she got what she deserved, though it was strange for her to not be accustomed around plants considering most of the elves out there, low or high class, could handle the simple part of their heritage. Nature.

Lucianna heard the bell and her actions seemed to freeze as the realization that she would have to go back came across her. The near-cheerful smile slowly began to deaden and she stood up straight, brushing her uniform off with one hand as she made sure to secure her book. She could return it to her locker and head to the next class, however she didn't feel like she wanted to do any of that, she would have preferred to stay here longer. Where there once was a smile, the mask of her usual stoic expression had returned and she stared at Jade quietly. She really did hope she could come back to this place with him.

She went to turn towards the door but found herself stopping in place for a brief moment and staring at Jade again, she then turned towards him, held the book against her stomach and bowed gently, head lowered for a brief moment before she stared at him again,
"Thank you, Jade Wilson." She spoke calmly, in her same controlled fashion, any races of emotion she'd shown while examining the plants was lost once more as though she remembered she wasn't supposed to act in any sort of human fashion. It was practically a defense mechanism for dealing with others in the academy, but she kept her gaze fixed on him for a moment,
"No matter how I may seem. I do mean what I say. I want to see more of this city. I want to see this place again, above all, I want to talk to you again." She listed these things off simply, but firmly, turning towards the exit again, perhaps with a little determination in her step this time. Lucianna had never once dared to think something this interesting would have occurred.

It didn't take her much to to find her way out of the room and the way back, she had been paying attention after all so that she knew where to go once she needed to return to class. Although her mind was somewhat occupied with the idea of talking to Jade again and his out-of-place principles. She was looking forward to following him out of the building and seeing more of the city. Suddenly she had a lot to think about, for once she could see the city from a different angle, not just her favorite veranda in the break area.

Lucianna arrived at her class in a timely fashion, class books in hand, prepared to study, but with a difference, this time she would actually be distracted from her work.

Jade smiled to her as if saying 'Welcome' he was going to give her a key to the room, but she wandered out before he could try. Which in his case was fine, he wanted to see how long the garden would accept her, not many could stay in here for too long without being thrown out, or annoyed by all the greenery. Jade knew if she wanted to see the world through his eyes then, why not, there was nothing wrong with seeing things from another angle, and both of them probably could use a new way of looking at things. Heading out to his Herbology class as he walked down the hallway, the door locked itself as the garden would then come 'alive' in a sort of way of speaking. He would have to show her that now, he wanted to show someone that, and he didn't even show his best friend yet. He walked into the classroom on time for once, which was odd for him as he took his seat in the middle of the classroom to not be called on as much; Jade looked out the window thinking 'She's right, it's too...neat for nature' seeing the scenery.

A girl sat next to Lucianna being pretty much new to the school not knowing anything about the rules or what they should or shouldn't do. She had childlike features and blonde hair that went to her waist in a long braid with few scraggly bangs which just looked like short loose hair from the way it was cut. Her eyes were a light, shiny hazel color as if almost golden. She didn't say anything at first until she got her stuff put down on the desk which were colorful folders and notebooks. She didn't care if it was against the rules, she liked cute colorful things, and rainbows too. There was a single white streak that went all the way down to the end of her hair. "Hi!" She beamed "I'm Cornelia, what's your name?" she was little looking about fifteen and very friendly looking.

"She's right? Who's this she, eh?" A voice chimed behind Jade, the all too familiar voice of Brandon Curtis, he was originally settled on the desk behind his friend, but he soon relocated. The dark wild-haired, blue-eyed boy with a scar on his cheek vaulted over the desk with his things, dropping them on the table next to Jade, immediately leaping on the other boy, to some degree, wrapping an arm around the blonde's neck and putting his other hand on Jade's head, ruffling his hear as he did so,
"What's this, blondie? New girl? It's a new girl, I bet!" He teased, switching to rubbing his knuckles into Jades head with a grin, "Come on, spit it out, who've you grabbed this time? One of the new transfer girls? She a cutie?"

As rough as he was pretending to be, Brandon wasn't the type to keep his friend head-locked longer than necessary, simply grinning away to himself, truth was he'd already heard the rumors of who Jade had suddenly started talking to, not to mention the amusing incident with Ana and her boyfriend's coffee. He was almost willing to bet there would be an argument between those two before the day was out.

If the rumors were true, or at least not as exaggerated as school children tended to make them, then Jade was hanging with the weirdest girl in the school. Of course this only meant Brandon wanted to suggest what activities they could get up to, none of these suggestions of course were anything one could consider polite, gentlemanly behavior. Brandon didn't see the point in living if you couldn't joke around a little.

Lucianna hadn't at all expected a new girl to sit next to her, let alone try to strike up a conversation, at first she did not even realize she was being spoken too, already willing to ignore everything and everyone except the lesson and the teacher, but as the words entered her mind, she caught the girl next to her staring in her direction out the corner of her eye, and so Lucianna looked at her quietly.
What had she said? She struggled to remember the words completely, not wanting to look like she hadn't been paying attention, although the blank stare probably did not help. Finally she latched on to what Cornelia had said but still found a little difficulty responding right away, she seemed so cheerful and colorful next to Lucianna,
"Sorry.. Cornelia." She started, though unsure why she'd chosen to apologize, "I am Lucianna." Now that she was actually looking at Cornelia, she realized she had never met this girl before, was she one of the new transfer students that had been mentioned? Lucianna imagined that stuck in the craw of the older families even more.

Jade pushed him off with a smirk "I don't have to tell you that" he said shaking away his thoughts forgetting that his friend could read minds "But they're right, look outside its almost...well too perfect" he wanted to change that too. Jade laughed wrestling with him again "Haha okay okay, I'll tell you. She...goes to our school" he joked pretty much, it wasn't a lie, but it wasn't the full truth either. "What about you? You've heard about the new girl haven't you?" talking about the one named Cornelia Sanders one of the lowest ranked magical users as far as family wise goes.

In almost a giggle Cornelia leaned on her arms on the desk still facing Lucianna "That's alright, it's still the day" Cornelia was a night person as long as she had her caffeine for the night, which she normally would; thinking for a brief second "Obviously I'm new here, but I was wondering if you wanted to be my working buddy for when the project comes up?" there was a project usually once a month where you had to take notes and study those outside of the city as far as other creatures not in the school and write an essay on them and what they do or how they act. "Oh and don't worry I can handle my work load, I always do my work" then Cornelia thought for a moment "Do you happen to know where the library is too? I am in the need to check out some new fictional books" she loved reading almost as much as being her usual bright self.

"Psshh, I don't need to be a mind reader to hear everyone yapping their mouths off about that girl." Brandon smirked, easing off Jade and sitting back in his chair, legs crossed under the desk as he slouched on it, one arm hanging off the back as his ocean blue eyes stared around the room, "I swear, they're gettin' faster at this rumor-mongering crap. But even for you, hanging with lil miss snow white? Seriously, that girl ticks me off," He yawned, rolling his shoulder softly, if there was anything he didn't like, it was some-one not putting their best effort forward.

He'd faced off against everyone possible when it came to dueling and several times he'd been pitted against Lucianna, in the interest of trying to get her to learn from one of the top fighters. Brandon knew there was more to her, even sparring with her told him that, her hesitations and the strange sudden shut-downs where she would just give up a fight and allow herself to be beaten. It was times like that he really wished he practiced his mind-reading abilities more often, then he could try to figure out some of these ticking clocks, Jade being among them too, as much as they were friends he still wasn't sure he knew everything about his best friend.

Mention of a new girl made him perk up again though as he grinned,
"New girls you mean? But I saw her, another blondie, just like you, looked absolutely clueless, guess it's true what they say about your hair color huh?" The other teen jested with a wry grin, he didn't really believe such superstitious rubbish, but it was still fun to poke at Jade however he could, "Next thing you know she's gonna try making best buds with your new squeeze too!" He snorted suddenly, staring at Jade, eyes practically gleaming along with a wide toothy grin, "Oh man..! That's freakin' hilarious! All that colorful crap she was carrying, next to the walking ghost girl of Griffons Stand Academy, talk about some serious contrast!"

Lucianna stared at the girl silently, she didn't know, perhaps she was better off that way, she seemed happy enough. Although the white-haired girl wanted to respond more positively she withdrew a little and lowered her head the slightest bit before staring at her own textbook, lips pursed before she simply sighed,
"Cornelia.. I am not the person you want for a working buddy.. I do not work with anyone," She stated simply, pulling the text closer and flipping it open to the relevant subject of the day, their study was on Lycanthropes, and identifying them.

What am I saying..? She thought to herself, wanting to bite her own tongue for allowing herself to fall back into such a routine after just talking to Jade so openly. Was she trying to be lonely on purpose now?
No.. I do not want that..
"I will show you where the library is after classes, but you should not stay near me too long." Again her words seemed to form before she could think and she nearly did bite her tongue for allowing it to say whatever it pleased.
I still can not be like Jade.. She lowered her head even further. thee stress of trying to combat her self-programmed nature bearing down on her for a moment. Lucianna breathed in deeply and sighed,
"Sorry, Cornelia, I am not a very popular person.. I would prefer you do not get judged for staying around me."

Jade listened half-way, he was wondering if she would speak to him again at all, it seemed like she wanted to talk to as well as ignore the social standards rules about the school; Jade laughed along with him thinking that would be a funny thing to see. "I haven't seen her yet, though considering girls with blonde hair, that cliche is probably true" he knew that was true in his family, younger or older, blonde women or girls seemed to be ditz or airheads. Though he tried to imagine a colorful girl next to Lucianna and gave up on that thought because he couldn't seem to imagine it. "What, should we start calling the new girl a rainbow then?" everyone seemed to have nicknames for everyone else. "So where were you during lunch? I know you had to hear about what happened with Anabella" Jade asked him changing the subject on purpose.

One of the other school girls called out to Cornelia "Hey new girl, why don't you come over here and join our group, we'll be your partners instead of ghost girl over there!" the girl was loud, not as cheerful as Cornelia was, but still quite loud to sound rather annoying. Cornelia looked over to the other side of the classroom at the girls, they looked nothing like who she would normally hang out with, and they seemed to love gossiping. Cornelia hated gossip, it was annoying, untrue most of the time (that's why it was called gossip), and always just a pain. Not saying a word knowing how it would affect them as they went into a whisper just as she turned her back to Lucianna, Cornelia spoke up

"Well I can't do this class alone and there is absolutely no way I am working with those...girls" she laughed a little, like a small chuckle not sure which word would have fit them: brats, snobs, pops (popular) then she thought of one "Oh better yet" she began with a chuckle "I don't work with princess" the girls in the background heard this and scowled at the way she said it, clearly an insult somehow. "They want to judge me for being myself, fine. Let them, what harm would it do to me? I'm just here to learn and make friends my own way. I didn't come here to please some spoiled brats, besides what fun would that be if I have to wear a mask all the time" Opening her own textbook she got when she walked into the classroom by the teacher and had chosen her own seat even though there was three other spots. She didn't want group herself off to another circle like she had accidentally done at her old, human public school. It was time for a change to be herself.

"I still want to be your partner if you let me, besides who knows, we might be able to help each other in this class" Cornelia smiled brightly adding "If it helps I can be less bubbly, I know its too much for people sometimes, but I know how to tune it down too" she didn't mind, she knew the last group at her old school said she had too much energy and it was annoying, not that she cared. It just taught her more control of herself and her actions. "Oh!" she saw the book open to the page of Lycanthropy. "Did you know that there was several kinds of Lycanthropy, but only nine main groups. Five rare ones as any others are considered even rarer to see or know about if you can live to see them that long" she giggled a little quietly, she knew her history on Lycanthropy.

Remembering a book of what she read in a library she had found at a bookstore in the back of the store itself: Werewolf, Werebear, Werelion, Wereorca, Wererodent, Weretiger, Werespider, Werefox, and Werehyena were the main forms Lycanthropy. There are countless legends of many different species of lycanthropes including Owls, cougars, leopards, badgers and wolverines but those are considered rare if they exist at all. Some legends even speak of a were-dire wolf among the lutins. Lutins were another subject though outside of Lycanthropy since Lutins were mammals not animals.

"I was stuck at the teachers offices, old man Fuller was giving me an earful again, yelling about propriety and whatever," Brandon waved it off and yawned again, "Man, if I get that old do you think I'll become such a stiff too?" He added, rubbing at his ear irritably. Fuller, or rather Septimus Marcus Fuller, Headmaster of the school was from a branch of the oldest known Mage family. Needless to say he'd had the finest rules and traditions drummed into his head since he was a boy. And who was his nephew? None other than Brandon. It was probably the only reason the brash young man hadn't been kicked out a long time ago.

He chuckled to himself on the thought of Anabella thought,
"She's such a try hard, but seriously, way I heard it, her boyfriend was aiming that coffee at you. Man, you are slick, how'd you get it to hit Ana instead?" Brandon questioned curiously. As far as rumors went, people were speculating exactly what had happened, Ana's boyfriend was a meathead but he had good aim, he used to be a quarterback until he became a mage, so screwing up a throw like that wasn't exactly likely.

Lucianna was rather stunned at the sudden change from Cornelia, not so much in personality but in proving she wasn't just an empty-headed girl that didn't know better. The white-haired girl looked up a little, turning her head to stare at her neighbor quietly whilst she more or less chided the other girls in the class, practically insulting them outright.
An odd shiver ran through Lucianna, like the pit of her stomach had dropped out, she'd never really witnessed another girl at so harshly towards the others, she almost wanted to warn Cornelia against it, but soon found herself wanting to laugh, a slight smile trying to break on her face. She held it down, but she struggled to keep her focus a moment.

The girl raised her hand to her mouth, coughing just slightly to clear her throat and force herself into full control again, sitting straight once more and looking at colorful blonde,
"I am sorry Cornelia. I misjudged you." She started, "You do not have to change yourself for me. You are fine as you are. I would be honored to work with you."
As Cornelia broke into talk about Lycans, Lucianna brought her hand to her thin thoughtfully then looked to her textbook again,
"There is still some debate as to whether some can be classed as Lycans or a different species. The more military minded opinions simply see them as monsters than need to be destroyed, the specifics of their species does not entirely matter, whilst scientists believe it is important to study them and categorize them properly." She responded thoughtfully, flipping across to the next page,
"Then there are the feral tribes versus those that have managed self-control, and whether they should be kept in a reserve or cured, but there's still no known cure for the condition of Lycanthropy.." She frowned a little, running a finger down the page, "Personally I would prefer not to hurt a Lycanthrope if I could help it, it is not fair to judge them for having animal instincts and an incurable condition.."
