#75 Balcony
  • Characters: Saint
    Scenario: On the prowl
  • Saint sat on the edge of a dilapidated balcony of an old run down building. It had been closed down for weeks and with such a close proximity to a park that was near a hoard of night clubs it was prime pickings for a vampire on the prowl. Only, Saint wasn't on the prowl, her species had long since stopped attacking people in the middle of the night and instead harvested their food from blood banks that they owned. Several scientists were also testing ways that they could try to "grow" their own supply; a sort of alchemy for blood.

A drunk young man had just left a night club and was swaying uneasily across the park to the edge where taxi's usually waited. Grinning widely, Saint pushed back a long curly hot pink lock before gathering her trench coat around her and leaping to the ground. Landing in a crouch, her coat splayed out behind her, she took off at a low run keeping the swaying figure in her sights until he had reached the stand of trees dominating the center of the park. Grimly she slipped her two walther PPK's and waited almost gleefully for the fun to begin, ice blue eyes narrowing in concentration as they darted about waiting for the telltale sign of movement. It had been a while since her last fight and she was giddy to get it over with so she could go to the club the human had just come from.

#72 Pool
  • Characters: Cypress Donahue
Scenario: Working on tanning a hide
  • Cypress dragged the pelt with Aari's help down the hill and to the pool of water beneath the waterfall. Never having been there he was pleased to see that the fall pounded on a flat stone rock right beneath it. That would be perfect for stretching the pelt across for a while to have the water take the stench and stiffness from it. Edging closer to the pool of water he was dismayed to see that it got relatively deeper and they would more then likely have to swim to get to where the fall was.

Dropping his corner of the hide he slipped off his boots and belt, placing them as close to the area of the pool closest to the waterfall as he could so they would still be in sight. Slipping off his many earring and his necklace he winced, it was painful to leave so many of his treasures behind to go swim in probably cold water, all for the sake of a new pair of pants. Sighing he kicked at the hard hide with a scaled foot before looking up at Aari, dismay in his eyes, "I hope you don't mind a bit of a swim" he groused before diving into the water. Surfacing he reached arm out to snag the deer hide and dragged it slowly into the water. Most of the previous liquid had vacated the hide and it managed to float. Letting out a sigh of relief he treaded water waiting for Aari to hop in as well. "We're going to have to stretch it out in the water and then swim it over to that stone beneath the falls" he explained as he waited.

#26 Rainbow
  • Characters: Kyrylo Eneas
Scenario: Arrival at mirror lake garden
  • As they flew over the garden, the orange glow that reflected off the hills blinded Kyrylo for a short time. Causing him to falter slightly in his flight and drop to a lower altitude. Heart beating wildly, he struggled to keep from plummeting to what could not be seen below because of the setting suns glare. When he had finally evened out his flying once more he dared to look around him.

All beneath them were many different sized lakes of various sizes and depths. Rainbows danced between them as the sun glinted off the spray of water from the many waterfalls and geysers. Water, everywhere he looked, more water. Kyrylo began to get a deep ache in the lower part of his belly, he liked water yes, but he wasn't exactly keen on falling in it from a great height and possibly drowning; which had almost happened moments ago when the sun so suddenly blinded him.

Heart sinking all the more, he watched as Destine began to descend to land on a soft patch of sand next to a particularly large lake. Taking deep breaths he mentally coached himself as he looped a circle in the air above her and began to descend. "Create drag" he mumbled to himself as he tilted his wings until he felt as if he were slowing, "lots of drag". Excited he watched as he lowered slowly and was nearing where Destine stood only to realize at the rate he was descending he would land in the lake. Growling in frustration he tried to reverse the angle of his wings in which he was descending only to cause himself to do a strange somersault in the air and splash into the water just a few feet from his intended landing mark.

Standing and dragging his robes through the water he quirked a sheepish grin at Destine; "almost".

#35 Earth
  • Characters: Polaris Starseeker
Scenario: the beginning of his story
  • Polaris' hooves pounded beneath him at the ground relentlessly. No matter how far he ran he could not see any real change of difference. Sure there maybe a twisted tree or gnarled root poking up that hadn't been there a few miles back, but for the most part the badlands all looked the same; dead. Pausing to look around he pawed at the earth, not so much nervous as irritated. He could not believe that he had gotten himself separated from his clan so badly and to make things worse he was now wandering around this never ending place of barren earth. Wiping an arm across his brow, he swiped a trickle of sweat and dust from his face, only to feel another start not long after. Being such a pale creature in this area where the sun gave no forgiveness was painful; the sun beat down on him making him feel weaker. Pounding the ground hard with one foreleg he took off at a fast canter once more to cover more ground, surely if he kept going he would eventually catch up to them.

Hours later he was still going at his steady if not now somewhat forced canter. Spotting a shimmer in the distance he took off at a mad gallop, the desire for water overcoming him so much that a mad gleam seemed to spark in his eye. He had been hours in the blistering heat and was in severe need of water. Collapsing in front of the water he rolled over until his face was right above it and ducked down to take several long gulps of the life sustaining liquid. His energy refreshed he dragged his body into the stream and lay down sighing gratefully as the cool water washed over his heated legs and body.

So much was he intent on his cooling that he did not hear the rustling of the scraggly bush behind him.

#62 Sound
  • Characters: Cypress Donahue
    Scenario: Tracking A'iel
  • Cypress had been staring out his window blankly trying to pass the time when he had seen the green girl dash out of the inn and towards the woods. Watching carefully he noticed that she seemed to be distraught and wondered vaguely why he even noticed. Pulling on his boots and strapping on his rapier he opened the window silently and leapt down to the ground, landing in a crouch almost silently. Smirking to himself, he took off at a run in the same general direction as the annoying green girl.

Ducking under the first low branches of the dense woods he turned slowly on his heel looking for any sight of the girl, finding none he began to twitch his ears, listening carefully for sobs or the soft pad of feet on forest loam. Annoyed that he could not find her in the obvious ways he began to cast about looking for signs of freshly broken twigs or an indent of a heel in the soft ground beneath the trees. He was surprised to find that not a trace of her was anywhere on the ground, it seemed almost as if maybe the plants had moved out of her way as she rushed past. Deciding that the only logical way he had to find her now was with rough guessing he began a steady trot in the same line he had seen her run from the inn in. Distressed people didn't normally run in circles to keep people off their tracks and he was hoping distressed annoying green girls did not as well.

Stumbling around in the underbrush, Cypress kept an ear out for any sounds of A'iel. He had been traveling in a circle, widening the radius of it as he made each loop, making sure that he was covering a lot of ground and not missing anything. The silence of the forest since he had entered spooked him. In general the leaves would rustle, some birds would call, sometimes a twig or two would snap from some creature trodden on it; but since A'iel had run through it seemed the forest had muted all sound.

Pushing through a particularly annoying bit of shrubbery Cypress at last came across what he had been searching for. In a small clearing surrounded by a stand of pine trees, lay A'iel. From what he could see from his viewpoint it appeared some of her clothing had been ripped and somewhat worried - and baffled by being worried - he moved closer to see if there was any sign of blood. Musing to himself about what color blood she could possibly have if she had been injured. Looking down casually he nearly leaped from his boots to see that she was VERY scantily clad. Turning hastily he marched back to the bush that had given him so much trouble just moments before and pushed through. Leaning against a tree trunk he slumped to the ground in a squat covering his face to hide his blush; why on earth had she decided to become indecent in the middle of no where with no one but himself around.

#4 Twilight
  • Characters: Kyrylo Eneas + Calliope
    Scenario: Twilight at mirror lake.
  • Kyrylo peered out from under his soggy bangs to look at the laughing Oerttena, "we can only hope?" he said quirking an eyebrow in amusement before gripping the bottom of his robe to squeeze some of the water out. Vaguely he wondered if there might possibly be some sort of water-proof material clothing could be made of since he was always crashing into water. Glancing at the water he decided no mater how foolish it looked, it was certainly better then crashing into hard ground like that. Calliope landed on one of his ears making it twitch uncontrollably for a few moments, "do you mind?" he muttered, grabbing another handful of robe and squeezing water out. Not at all laughed the quirky moth as she took a sip of water from his damp hair. Rolling his eyes he continued squeezing until most of the water was out of his clothing.

"So this is Mirror Lake is it? It's beautiful here!" said Oerttena. Nodding his agreement he took a few moments to look around the gardens from a eye level view as opposed to from the air; both views were beautiful in their own ways. Contemplating over the garden he decided this one did not feel like home either, water was nice but this place was more water then land.

Straightening a shiver overcame him, "It gets cold when the sun goes down, huh?" he asked as he creeped closer to the cave with phosphorescent fungi in it. Curiously he leaned forward and poked the plants before tilting his head down further to see off what they were feeding from; already he was contemplating the usefulness of the interesting growth. Prodding it once more he noticed a weird sort of shadow pass over him and straightened to look skyward immediately, "There wouldn't happen to be anything large and predatory that hunts these areas?" he asked scanning the sky but finding nothing.

#64 Touch
  • Characters: Kyrylo Eneas
Scenario: Exploring the House of Eagles
  • Kyrylo stepped cautiously, looking in all directions and trying not to shift the loose bits of gravel on the stone floor. All around him faint whispers echoed, some loud and other soft as if promising to reveal thousands of untold secrets to whomever would sit still and stay long enough to decipher them. Gaze lingering on a half broken statue of some long gone Fae he placed his hands on the marble tracing the line of the face; so familiar and yet, entirely new.

The last time he had visited during the tour he had not had enough time to investigate the area further. Now that his home was settled and they were released to go and pursue their own interests he was back. So many things about this place intrigued him; what had those Fae done to merit a statue of their likeness? Why of all places did the spirits decide to gather here? And, if this place was so important to all the Fae, then why had they let it fall to ruin, abandoning it to the corrosive powers of nature? Walking around the room in a small circle he admired each of the statues that dominated the area one by one, looking for some sort of name or identification.

Finding one statue that really drew his attention far back from the entrance, he made his way too it in almost reverent awe. Surely the amazing piece of art that stood before him must have been a very impressive figure in life. Slipping a few sheets of vellum from a pouch he had made from the waxen leaves of a plant he had found, he lay them carefully on a spot on the ground that was not damp. Kneeling he pulled out a quill and his bottle of berry ink and began to sketch the statue. He had every intention of showing the sketch to Caer and asking who the person was, if he was lucky she might have enough information for him to write a small journal of all the important figures that littered this very room.

As he worked the soft plink of water falling in the distance caught his attention. Deciding that he was quite thirsty after having flown all this way carrying his newly made supplies, he stood and began to investigate the overgrown ivy hall ways that branches from the main rooms. Eventually he came across a small pool of water surrounded by off flowering plants and the more urgent voices of the spirits. Ignoring both for the time being he lay on his stomach and cupped handfuls of the fresh cool water to drink until his thirst was sated. Splashing a bit of water on his face and rinsing a bit of ink that had stained his fingers, he stilled as his ears picked up a new sound.

#43 Rain
  • Characters: Polaris Starseeker
    Scenario: fleeing from the rain
  • Polaris stopped for a moment to look at his new companion. One hand of her was trying to keep her long locks from being swirled about her in the slightly muddy stream. While the other reached out in either a gesture offering help, or perhaps a silent plea to have his. Deciding that it wouldn't hurt for them to be holding hands to cross the river, he caught hers in a tight clasp and then went back to trying to see what was going on around them.

The rain had been increasing in volume the longer it fell, causing his view to be severely shortened until the only things he could see was what was a few feet in front of him. Clenching his jaw in determination he pushed the rest of the way through the stream and up the muddy bank on the other side, spreading his legs wide trying to maintain balance on the slippery surface. Leaning his head back to check on may to see if she was ok he stamped the clinging mud from his hooves. Just then, a flash of lightening lit up the sky to reveal a tree, or perhaps a stand of trees far off to the distance. Marking the memory in his head he began the slow task of making his way there. With each flash of lightening he turned slightly to stay on course, interested only in getting some place where the rain wouldn't beat at him so mercilessly.

Ducking under the first low boroughs of the tree he looked around pleased to find that the rain had not penetrated through and a soft bed of semi dry leaves littered the ground. Sinking wearily to the ground he leaned against a tree and idly moved a few leaves aside to check and see if perhaps anything edible was underneath, finding nothing his stomach let out a long protesting growl. "Shall we stay here for the night?" he asked as his hands shifted around under the loam searching for something to eat. A sharp sting of pain brought water to his eyes and withdrawing his hand quickly he looked at a trickle of blood spilling down his fingertips. Reaching into the loam with his other hand he began to feel his way around very slowly until his fingers closed around some flat, sharp, somewhat rough object. Lifting it to his face he studied the rusty dagger for a time before stabbing it into the earth at his side, thinking to himself how maybe it might come in use at some later time.

#99 Waiting
  • Characters: Kyrylo Eneas
    Scenario: waiting for the spirit
  • As Kyrylo sipped slowly the water from his hands he thought he could almost hear the faintest trails of a melody. Stilling he strained his ears trying to catch the elusive tune that danced in and out of his awareness. He was certain he had heard the soft strains of music coming in his general direction though it seemed to have stopped when it was relatively close. He wished it would start again, whether it was his tiredness from the trip or some invisible being the music had touched him on an emotional level. He had heard that there were many mysteries of this garden and that the spirits flocked here in troves, but never had he heard of a mysterious music. Come to think of it, the other whispery voices that had been calling so urgently before seemed more like a murmur of contentment now.

Pushing himself upright and into a cross-legged sitting position he looked around the room slowly, trying to see if there was anything out of the ordinary. He took in the wall of ivy, water gently cascading down its leaves to fall in the crystal clear pool of water surrounded by moss. He examined the old weathered roots of a very large tree's roots that broke through one wall to plunge through the ground below. The slight shift of light opened his eyes to something else. the room was filled with, something he wasn't certain of. Not exactly solid, but at the same time, in the right lighting you could almost make out a form, a vague shape of something, or somethings, occupying the room with him.

Intrigued he let out a long breath to calm his excitement and tried to pinpoint the location of "the thing" once more; only to see nothing as the light had sifted once more. That would teach him to come when the sun was sinking behind a scattering of clouds. Reaching into his bag he pulled out a small pan pipe and tried to imitate the tune he had heard, eyes casting about trying to note any changes in the air.

"I know you are there" he called out softly, "I won't hurt you". Grinning sheepishly to himself he thought about how stupid the last part had sounded; he could not even see what it was, never mind do anything in which to hurt them, unless of course they found his pipe playing to be offensive to the ears. He had only made the pipe just a few days ago and his tune did not carry nearly as well as the one he heard before did; if anything he was slightly off key.

#73 Garden
  • Chacters: Kyrylo Eneas + Calliope
    Scenario: Traveling between gardens
  • Kyrylo listened carefully as Destine spoke, addressing both him and Oerttena in her gaze as she talked about the next garden being more to their liking. Casually he looked around the one they were in and though about how he would certainly like some water, just not so much in the place he would later call home. So far the other gardens had all been pleasant but none had really called out specifically to him. Eagerly he unfolded his wings and gave them a few flutters, ready to see if the next was a more fitting home.

"Kyrylo, this is water that I promise you won't need to be afraid of." teased Destine.

"I'm not afraid of water" grinned Kyrylo, "If anything its afraid of me, all those beating it keeps taking at my expense.". Chuckling he lifted into the air to try and hover behind Destine to follow her to the next destination. As she shot off toward the fall he worried that the water might beat her out of the air and drop her into the pool below, sure he had gotten wet a lot in this last garden, but he had fallen into the water, the water hadn't pulled him down.

In awe he watched as the water parted to allow her through and hoping that it wasn't just her ability, reading items wasn't the same as moving water was it?, he followed. Half way to the fall he veered away remembering Calliope, Surely the water wouldn't part for something so small as a moth. Diving towards her he caught her gently in his arms and held her to his chest as he flew recklessly towards the fall.

"Ready or not" he muttered just as he was reaching the fall.

#63 Scent
  • Characters: Kyrylo Eneas
Scenario: Arriving in the Rose Garden
  • Kyrylo flew lower to land carefully on the island in the center of the rose garden. Feet touching the ground one at a time he thought about how far he had come from his first few days in the gardens with his many crash landings into the water. It was nice to be able to land somewhat gracefully more often then not. Taking the time to look around at the multitude of roses that stretched endlessly before him on the opposite shore of the lake, he marveled at the sheer multitude of flowers and the powerfully intoxicating aroma that permeated the air.

It had been a while since he had last explored any of the many gardens that branched off from the main ones. Pulling his pan pipe out for a moment he trilled a short tune before glancing around to see if there were any signs of movement. Since his meeting with Amaryllis he has expected more Spirits to make themselves known, and at each one he visited he would play a short part of her song that he had been practicing since their meeting to see if anything might respond. Deciding that he was more then likely too isolated on this island with only a large tree for company he launched himself into the air and flew purposefully towards a stand of cattails.

    Splash

Muttering Kyrylo pulled the lower hem of his robe from the water and marched onto dryer land; things had been going so well and he had gotten over excited and careless once again when it came to landing. Grumbling to himself he wrung out the water before dropping the damp cloth to the ground to inspect a flower that several insects flocked about. He had seen roses before but for some reason these looked as if they were far superior to the wild things growing in some of the other garden. Almost as if a gentle hand guided them along in their growth. A small smile pulling at his lips he leaned forward to inhale deeply the flower before pulling a small knife from his pouch; Calliope would surely enjoy this flower as much as the other insects did, especially after they had argued.

As he cut the flower Kyrylo's ears caught the faintest sound. Biting back his excitement he waited patiently for the noise maker to make itself known.

#68 Future
  • Characters: Kyrylo
Scenario: Talking to Rosebud about his future building plans.
  • Kyrylo followed the slowly floating moth down to the waters edge and listened attentively as Rosebud told her story once more. Listening to it the second time around was just as pleasant as the first time. He was really glad that she had decided to come with him to tell her story to Calliope, she seemed to be enjoying herself immensely.

As they walked Kyrylo scanned the shore for any fish scales. The large golden koi that lived in the bottom f the lake lost their scales every so often and they could be found washed up on the shore, or sticking up in the sand. A glint of something shiny caught his eye and he ran over to unearth a scale that had been half buried in the sand. Holding it up he admires the soft golden sheen for a moment before returning to Rosebud's side to hear the end of the tale.

"Did you enjoy the story, my little friend?"

Kyrylo was pleased to see that Calliope dipped her body in response and turned his wide grin to Rosebud, "I would say yes" he murmured eyes traveling back to his insect companion.

"What is that pile of lumber you've collected there?"

"Oh" said Kyrylo in a rush of excitement, face lighting up and ears twitching in his eagerness to tell her about his plans. "Well you see i was thinking of building up a sort of open structure. With the fish scales i find around the lake" he paused to hold up one he had found during her story telling, "as a sloping roof top cover since they are fairly resilient, bright in color, and water just rolls off them." Pausing he looked at the wood for some time before continuing, "I would really like to have wooden benches on the inside and plant the wisteria seeds i collected all around the base. Maybe one day, i can ask the silk worms in the other gardens if they could help me make cushions and pillows for all the seats" dreamily he looked off into the distance, "It would be such a nice place to tell stories and read books and it would provide another food source for Calliope, she loves wisteria.".

#86 Friends
  • Chars: Kailex and Porthos
Scenario: Porthos trying to convince Kailex to join the Alundra League.
  • The dust rose off the road in lazy swirls, rising and falling at each plod of a horses hoof, each step of the men surrounding the wagon. The steady churn of the wagon wheels kicked up a steady cloud of dust that burned the eyes and throats of those unfortunate enough to be caught in the wake. The dull metallic clangs emanating from each swaying wagon told of hundreds of finely crafted weapons in tow; a true prize for any raiding party. It was in this slow procession of wares that Kailex found himself for the hundredth time; protecting a merchant and his wares from the possibility of vagabonds and thieves.

Wiping the grime from his sweaty brow, he held his hand before him, scowling at the dirty smear across his hand. What he would not give for a cool damp cloth, or a soothing bath; this particular route always promised to conjure such wistful daydreams with its endless stretches of dry, choking dust. He couldn't help but long for the pristine military barracks back in Filela of two years past. Frowning he forced the thought from his mind; instead refocusing his mind on his duties; scanning the surrounding terrain for any signs of approaching men or better yet, any signs that they were nearing Liram.

The faint shout from ahead alerted everyone in the assemblage that Liram was now in sights and they would arrive at their destination in an hour's time. It had been a fortnight since he had last seen the city and he had missed the bustling life with all manner of species roaming about interacting with each other. Giving a silent thanks to the heavens for everything having gone smoothly he considered what he would take as payment. The merchant he escorted was renowned for his fine craftsmanship in axes. Instinctively thumbing his trusty old axe from home, he wondered vaguely if he should finally give up this last momento of his parents in exchange for a more remarkable weapon. Deciding finally, that should any of the wares really call out to him he would know his answer.

Two hours later he walked swiftly towards an inn well known to him, new axe bouncing jauntily at his hip as he swaggered through the door to wave at the robust human behind the counter. "Welcome back" smiled a barmaid as she placed a large tankard of milk before him and sauntered off; hips sashaying with every step she took. Shaking his head, he took a long gulp of his drink before waving to the portly man behind the counter. A few moments later the cheerful looking man lowered himself slowly into the chair across from Kailex, passing him a thick towel damp with water. Smiling gratefully, Kailex scooted his chair back and began to clean the dust and grime from his armor, working steadily from boot to thigh in a span of a few moments. As he cleaned he would pause every few moments to take a sip from his tankard and question his friend of two years.

"Any news?" Kailex asked as he moved to his other boot and scrubbed at a particularly difficult spot of grime. The sudden sound of struggle caused him to quirk a brow and watch his friend try to pull something from his back pocket with difficulty, trying to keep the curl of a smile from showing, he coughed and quickly grabbed his milk to drink deeply. "Ah! here we are" said Porthos dropping a thick yellowed parchment, folded and crinkled onto the table between them, "go on" he urged with a wave of his meaty hand, "I thought it might interest you".

Picking up the parchment delicately in between his clawed fingers he flipped it open and read for a few moments in silence. "It seemed like something you might do. . ." prodded Porthos with a maddening smile on his face. Dropping the paper, Kailex leaned back in his seat and stared almost as if the paper were some offending object, "and what would give you cause to think so?" he murmured silkily, giving no hint to whether he was pleased or not. "Ach! This.. this does not suit you" motioned Porthos at Kailexs' dusty clothing, "Ah, but this would be more fitting for a proud Ejderha" he said pointing down at the paper with his sausage of a finger, "one that had paraded in here two years ago roaring for something to quench his thirst, clad in all his military splendor.".

"Perhaps" said Kailex non-commitedly as he finished off the dregs of his tankard. Porthos merely shrugged and leaned back in his chair for a moment before a slow smile creeped to his lips, "You do know it is one of the greatest cities, and that in great cities there are amazing armouries". Kailex's ears betrayed him and the slight perk encouraged Porthos on. "The League" he motioned to the paper for the third time that night, "is well known for their ability with the arts of battle, and if I am not mistaken, it might be very much like a military atmosphere", he paused for a moment to watch the eager gleam cross his friends eyes, "think on it." Rising, Porthos returned to his bar in a slow amble to continue with his omnipresent duties to his inn’s patrons.

Kailex sat staring at the paper in the center of the table for what seemed like an eternity. Inwardly he debated going or not and finally came to the conclusion that he had nothing to lose by going to see for himself and everything to gain. Carefully folding the towel he had used so that all the grime faced inward, he placed it on the table before lifting the empty mug and placing that on top of the towel. Grabbing the paper he folded it carefully and placed it in a hidden pocket while also drawing out the required payment for his drink. Standing he saluted Porthos and walked out the door; if he was to go no time should be wasted, there was still light to be had for 2 more hours.

#71 Bedroom
  • Characters: Kyrylo
    Scenario: Showing Rosebud his bedroom
  • "Thank you" he muttered trying to stop the blush that was now creeping up his ears.

Flying up to the room above he motioned to where the little miniature gazebo sat on the window ledge. Inside a small fold of bright gold silk was nestled to create a soft bed for Calliope. Smiling at his little mini gazebo he peered past out into his garden. The sunlight was just beginning to fade and in the distance the call of many different birds rang out signalling it was nearing time to sleep. Turning he inspected the rest of the room. This one was much more tidy then the last and had several old weathered looking chests pushed up against the wall and against the foot of the bed. on top of each was a small pile of brown leather books and on one a pot of ink stood. The bed itself was impressive, seeming like it had been carved from one very large tree trunk and brought up here by its previous occupant. Kyrylo had to take all the feathers from the mattress out when he had first stumbled across it because of the mildewy scent and had spent the next few days asking the swans if he could have the downy feathers from their old nesting sites before taking them to wash in the river.

Smiling he turned his gaze to the long golden silk wraps that curled around the posts of his bed and crisscrossed to form a canopy. He had found soon after the tour was over, that the spiders and silk worms in the gardens were very nice and all too eager to help if you asked politely and brought them food. They had even dyed it his favorite color when he hadn't been around one day and he had been touched at their kindness.

"How quaint this little gazebo is. You've done a beautiful job on it. I'm sure Calliope must be very pleased."

"Oh, thank you. She sleeps in it actually" he grinned as he motioned to a small hook carved into one of the bed posts, "and we hang it just there". It had been her request to sleep where she could keep an eye on him and some place where he wouldn't thrash around in the middle of the night and crush her. "Calliope helped me make it" he said with a large grin as he peeked at his companion, "shes very good at math".

"Was there anything else you wanted to see?" he questioned as he picked up a piece of honeyed bread for the chest next to him and took a large bite.

#74 Study
  • Characters: Kyrylo
Scenario: Giving Rosebud the grand tour of his study.
  • Kyrylo listened to the soft tinkling laughter for a short time with one brow arched quizzically; something he had said was funny? Her explanation that followed caused Kyrylo to grin widely and glance up at his home before responding in kind, "I don't know if it was the beauty" he replied solemnly, "but something about this place just felt right" pausing he motioned to where his heart was, "in here.". When he had first seen the garden he knew instantly that this was where he wanted to live. It didnt strike him as one of the most beautiful gardens but something about how the garden was laid out and the creatures that inhabited it put him at ease. Brow furrowing he recommended his though, well, not ALL the inhabitants, something had attacked Calliope not long ago.

"I should love to see the rest of the spire. If you like, and she is willing, I can carry Calliope again so that you may know where I am as we walk."

Calliope flew from his hand to land lightly on Rosebuds shoulder, laughing quietly at the slight frown that turned Kyrylo's lips, jealousy isn't becoming she murmured in her soft speech. Walking forward he pushed open the door and motioned to the barren lower room, "since you've already seen here i suppose we should go up". Flapping his wings he launched himself into the air and flew through one of the two holes in the ceiling, landing a short time later amid the piles of books that littered the floor. Glancing around he took in his mess, only he didn't find it so much a mess as an assortment of all the things that interested him. He could easily pull out each item he needed as he knew exactly where everything was located. "This" he motioned grandly at its messy splendor, "is my study".

Quietly he observed his favorite room in the spire as he let Rosebud look around. Piled on the large desk in the center were many half drawn pictures and hastily scrawled notes that sat glinting in the light as they dried. He had been unable to find or make an ink that dried very quickly and found the vellum tended to smear if you didnt let it dry all the way. Several long scrolls of vellum had been tucked into the bookshelves that lined the room, and rows upon rows of books littered every possible space on the floors and shelves. Several different small pots of ink sat in a neat row on the top of the nearest bookshelf and a pile of feathers of varying sizes and length lay on a very large leather bound book. The room smelled strongly of the various herbs that hung from hooks in the ceiling along with the faintest scent of berries from the ink pots. Kyrylo sighed happily and glanced down at the nearest vellum with a sketch of on of the statues in the House of Eagles; this was his haven.

After several long minutes he motioned to the hole in the ceiling, "the last is my bed chamber" he explained as he took seat on one of the many tall piles of books. "Any questions yet?" he asked with a large grin plastered across his face.

#66 Home
  • Character: Kyrylo + Calliope
    Scenario: Finding their home
  • Kyrylo had spent the night curled around Calliope on one of the many islands that dotted the shadow grounds near Destine's weeping willow. Having been released from his first tour of the garden and still not having seen a place that struck him as the perfect place to live, he planned to investigate some of the other gardens that they had not seen. Unsure of how much flying would be required, he retired early instead of staying up to poke around at the other interesting things to see in the garden.

The next morning he rose early and stretched as he looked around the garden for any other signs of activity. Seeing none, he stood and unfurled his wings before giving a few experimental flaps to wake them up. Once more he tucked Calliope into the robe above his heart and made sure she was comfortable before leaping into the air and wheeling once. Flapping hard he flew back the way he had come the day before, taking no time to stare at the fish or newts in leisure. He had a mission; he needed to find his home.

The next following hour were spent in avid search in the Evercommon garden, Slowly he circled the garden peeking into each of the archways he found there, always looking for a garden that called out to him. Many of the gardens he saw that afternoon were beautiful, but like the ones he had seen before they just didnt seem to fit him personally. Late in the afternoon he took a break to find something to eat and drink deeply from one of the many streams that crisscrossed the garden, taking care not to drink where he saw any fairy fish lurking. Tired and slightly disappointed he watched as Fae's of all colors came in and out of various gates in the garden, some chatting amiably to others, while other went straight through to another gate as if bent on completing something highly important. All of these Fae had found some place that suited them, surely he would find one as well.

Rising from his rest, he continued his slow circle of the outer hedge of the garden, always keeping a sharp eye out for any doors that were trying to remain hidden. On the far side of the garden, just two doors down from the gate to the House of Eagles, he stumbled into a rusted metal gate. Curious, he pushed on the door hard and peeked in when it swung open with a protesting squeak. In the distance the shimmer of water caught his attention and intrigued he ventured further into the grove of pines before him.

Stepping out from behind the last stand of trees he drew in a deep breath. The amazing display of scenery that lay before him was breath taking. Talking to himself to calm his breathing, he ran down the hill, leaping into the air half way down and flying with purpose to the island, hoping the whole time that the place wasn't occupied so he could claim it as his own. A frown etched across his face replacing the earlier exuberance as he neared the island, much of the place was overgrown with weeds, and what he could see of the actual spire was not pleasing. Landing on the island, he took a few tentative steps forward before stopping and inspecting the area around him instead. Chunks of marble littered the over-grown grass and a heavy oak door creaked as it swung from the one hinge it was still attached to. Biting his lip, he moved to look inside the spire and was disappointed to see dead leaves and grass littering the inside of the building.

Sighing he looked away from the tower at the darkening sky and decided that though the garden was certainly in need of some serious cleaning, with a little bit of help it could easily be one of the most beautiful gardens he had yet encountered. Letting Calliope out of her safe hiding place he allowed her to survey their surrounding in the dying light, "So what do you think? A little cleaning here and there should make this place amazing, maybe a few more plants here?". Calliope dipped her body in response and flapped her delicate wings as she flew in a spiraling motion around the spire before disappearing into one of the windows that Kyrylo had failed to notice before. A soft ringing laughter echoed in his head before a soft i claim this room followed.

#16 Red
  • Character: Jade + Lingling
    Scenario: Reminescing the past
  • Jade watched as Lingling ran around the room, her little hooves clicking on the solid wood floor as she skipped about between the ribbons she had pulled out just moments before. Amused, she watched as the little 3 foot spirit tripped over a thick red ribbon with bells attached to it and went sprawling into her box, to the protesting jingle of the bells. It had been months since she had first sent that box sitting in a run down little store in Menewsha.

Back then she had been looking for something to replace the jewelry box that her younger sister had destroyed. Shop after shop she had searched for something special to replace her favorite – now broken – music box that her great grandmother had given her. Nothing had appealed to her until she had stepped into that small dingy shop and seen the Qilin box displayed proudly on a dusty shelf. In awe she had picked it up, expecting it to be heavy and possibly filled with some small treasure from ages past. Only to see that inside was a soft piece of faded red silk with an indent that some cylindrical object had left in it.

Determined that the stories she had heard about the qilin would make this box special and keep it from breaking – surely the luck of the qilin would keep this beautiful little box safe? – she had bought it from the lady sitting behind the table and tucked it away in her bag wrapped in tissue paper to protect it from the jarring it would endure from her roller-skating home.

A sharp jangle of bells jolted her from her reverie and she looked up to see Lingling now completely covered in the ribbon, with the bells now tangled in her long hair. Sighing Jade stood and walked over to the silly – and oddly enough, not really lucky – guardian of the qilin and helped to free her from they soft tinkling restrains. “You know” she joked as she stared down at her small companion, “You’re not nearly as lucky as the 4th mythological luck beast you supposedly guard”. The small qilin-girl ignored her and then tied the ribbon that had tangled about her before, around her tail, waving it appreciatively to hear the soft tinkling that sounded like her name. *ling ling ling* Beaming a megawatt smile she looked up at Jade and raised her arms swinging her tail back and forth wildly, “Lingling!” she called out gleefully before taking off at a run to show her new toy to someone else
