Name: Myriam Chantele

Age: 18

Gender: Female

Race: Aquatic Gorgon

Likes:
• Summertime
• Pizza
• White Rice
•Sweets

Dislikes:
• Math

• Annoying people
• Sushi

Personality: Myriam's personality is...questionable. She thinks of herself as a great friend to anyone willing to risk being her friend that is. Myriam can be extremely shy and can come off as rude when she doesn't talk to others or when she stands away from them. It's her way of making sure no danger comes to anyone. No one will get her as long as she does her best not to get angry and getting angry is easy if you talk to the wrong people.

Bio: Not much is really know about Myriam, not even where she came from or who her parents are. All that can be said about her is that she's different from most gorgans. The difference being she has no snakes, just tentacles. However, she can still turn you to stone if you make her mad enough. Myriam is a good student overall. Likes to get her work done, it's group projects that stress her out for the obvious reason but she tries to look past that just to get the project done correctly. If you cannot find her, chances are she's in a body of water somewhere. Chances also are that she doesn't want to be found. If you approach her, approach with caution.

Name: Raphael DiAngio

Age: 18

Gender: Male

Race: Invisible Boy

Likes:
• Butterflies
•Reading
•Writing
•Music

Dislikes:
• Sweets
• Rainy Days
• [Will Add More Later]

Personality: Raphael is a really sweet boy who is often mistaken for a female due to his feminine-like frame and facial features. He's quite the cute thing to look at, when you can see him of course. He prefers to wear baggy clothing but will sometimes try to wear tight clothing as well. He hasn't really made friends due to hiding all the time, but he's always more than willing to help those that need it.

Bio: Raphael arrived to Maherville High three years ago and appearance wise he hasn't really changed much except for getting a bit taller and having slightly longer hair. This has become his safe haven after what he had been through that brought him here. His father was never there for him, and his mother was torn away from him at a young age. He doesn't know what was done to his mother, but he doesn't want to find out. All he knows is that she's dead and his father might as well be.

Precarious Fool: Here's the rp. I still have to edit the bio and personality but I thought you'd want to post your characters already.

Name; Luke & Leila Aberden

Age; 18

Gender; Male & Female

Race; Shapeshifters

Likes; Luke - Silence, sleeping, french fries, & cake. Leila - Chocolate, dancing, rain, & exploring.

Dislikes; Luke - Loud music, healthy food, & running. Leila - Milk, classes, being quiet, & classes.

Appearance; Luke is tall and thin, despite all the junk he eats. His skin is natural skin is a pale grey, the veins a bit dark and prominent. His hair is jet black, a bit shaggy, hanging just to his ears and often in his face. Despite being 18 he looks a bit boyish, with softer features. His eyes are grey as well, muted most of the time, perhaps even too light as when it is bright they almost seem completely white despite the black pupil. Leila has the same colouring, pale grey skin with darker veins, long black hair that falls nearly to her knees, which often has small braids running through and strands of coloured hair. She is shorter than her brother by nearly a foot, so people often think her much younger, rather than them being twins. She is frail and a bit thin, and has been so far disappointed in puberty and her lack of... womanly features. Her features are soft like Luke's, with founded cheeks and a small, upturned nose. Pretty, but a little childlike.

Luke often wears very basic clothes in black, keeping with the whole appearance, plus it was much easier to not worry about what he wore. Fitted black pants, black or dark grey buttons ups, and usually polished black shoes were his go to outfit. Leila is almost always in dresses, which are generally more frilly than necessary, and in bright colours that contrast with her dark, muted looks.

Even when Luke shapeshifts his colouring is always grey and black, something he cannot change and limits his powers a bit, as most people don't have grey skin and black hair. His go to animal is a large crow. Leila is often found wandering as a small, dark grey, long haired cat, with a black tip on the tail and black tipped ears.

Personality; Luke much prefers quiet places, like the library or the woods, and he doesn't often speak much. He mostly only spends time with his twin, Leila, who is often too bubbly for him. Generally he is very serious and avoids confrontation, as well as making new friends. Nearly everyone he knows is because of his sister, rather than him making friends on his own. Will form a bond with someone who he often spends time together with, like his roommate Sven.

Leila is nearly the total opposite of her brother. She loves to talk and make new friends. She has no problem approaching strangers and never lacks something to say. Despite everything that has happened she is upbeat and happy, nothing really can get her down. Despite how happy and positive she is, she takes many things to heart very easily and can get upset often, especially when people talk about her behind her back.

Bio; Luke and Leila only have each other for family. Their parents died a long time ago and they spent time shuffled between other family members before finally being placed with a very distant, elderly uncle of sorts. Soon after they were shipped off to boarding school. Money from their parents, in trust accounts, paid for the schooling and whatever they needed, but how much they truly had access to, they did not know. They did know that they wanted for nothing and were treated well by the headmaster.

Their childhood had been lovely with their parents, they honed their skills of shapeshifting and were pretty average children. With their parents death came a long period of unwantedness. Leila fared just fine, taking it all in stride, as an adventure of sorts, but Luke was unhappy and still talked for less and enjoyed life even less than that.

Maherville High

The school stands proud and very tall in a far off location to keep the students and teachers safe from any outsiders. This school is probably the size of a college if not two of them, giving students plenty of space and various locations for them to sit back and relax. The school's staff is a strict one that holds the rules as the most important things to apply and follow. Students are supposed to be in their dorms by 10:00pm and should be asleep no later than 11:00pm. Any fights that break out are to be brought to the attention of supervisors immediately! The school's colors are red and gold. Maherville High's floors are of stone-like tile, causing footsteps to echo through the long halls. It's surrounded by lush grass and has plenty of lakes and trees to accommodate every student in its floors.

Students are actually allowed to fly around and climb the school's various towers if they choose to, but are expected to get down at the sound of the bell. This however is not allowed once it gets dark outside, for safety reasons. Classwork is extremely important, every student must arrive to class on time and must turn in their classwork and homework before leaving the class once the bell rings. The students themselves are good students, although like in every school you have the select trouble makers. For the most part though, the school's staff takes care that no fights break out. Overall, the school is known for its prestigious background. Students have yet to complain about living there for the four long years.

"We're going to be late!" The stern voice came in a harsh whisper, Luke standing over his sister, Leila, who was putting yet another braid in her long, black hair. He could only think that it wouldn't take so long if she would just cut it, he wondered how she could stand dealing with it, the constant brushing and effort it took to maintain it. By now she had braided in several blue ribbons the same colour as her dress, a frilly concoction that seemed more suited for a porcelain doll, rather than a highschooler. "It can't be helped, brother." She huffed as she tied off the last braid, smiling at herself in the mirror. She wore a bright, blue dress with lace trim that to Luke was a little too short, coming only just to mid-thigh, something she had been warned about many times but still she did not listen.

"I should have left without you." Luke ground out as he stormed down the hall, Leila falling behind as she casually followed. The teachers hated when they were late, and already he had been twice this year, thanks to his sister. She begged him to walk with her to class, so he got up early and readied himself, only to find her still sleeping or finishing homework she had put off. They only had this one class together this year, a big difference from having nearly every class together in their first three years here. He had adapted fine but she was still quite upset about it and looked forward to Monday and Wednesday mornings, even if it was just a boring History class.

They arrived just a moment after the teacher shut the door, the loud click echoing in the hall. Luke cringed and grabbed the handle, turning slowly and dreading the confrontation. Before he could do anything, Leila threw open the door and pushed past him, practically skipping to her seat, oblivious to the angry teacher at the front of the room. "Sorry..." Luke mumbled, bowing his head and slowly shuffling to his seat beside his sister, who looked perfectly pleased with herself, not caring that they would likely be written up. Again.

It was late one Monday morning when Myriam woke and took a long cold shower before getting dressed and ready for class. She didn't bother to dry herself off, the water always felt nice on her skin so every time she walked, a small trail of water followed behind her. The students had grown used to this morning routine and would stay away from her path to prevent from slipping on the water she left behind. Myriam didn't mind this. In fact, she preferred it. "Have to get to class." she said to herself as she quickly wandered through the halls until reaching her class for the day, History. It wasn't terribly boring, the instructor just always had a gift of making it boring. Myriam was always an on time student, sadly that was ending today.

Her alarm clock had broken somehow and so she couldn't wake up early now. She frowned as she stared at the doorknob, knowing that the longer she waited the later she would be. Myriam slowly opened the door and walked inside, closing the door quietly behind her. She was sure the instructor would give her a lecture on being late for the first time. "I apologize...I-I didn't mean to be late." she explained meekly as she debated on whether or not to sit or wait to see if the instructor would scold her. Finally, she decided to just take her seat and get out what she needed for the class.

How did her alarm even break? It was working just fine the day before. Had she dropped it in water? That's probably what happened, it wasn't exactly water proof ironically. Myriam blocked out those thoughts from her head and payed attention to the lesson that was being given for the day. At least this class wasn't exactly difficult, it was rather simple and easy to pass as long as you did the work of course.

Leila nudged her brother with a grin, "See, we weren't even the latest!" She said with a smug smile, as if it hadn't been her fault they were late, and if someone else also being late made it alright. Luke onto scowled at her and turned his attention back to the front of the room where the teacher began the lesson. He already knew all this, he had finished their textbook last week, reading through each chapter, despite the teacher still being on the first. It was just as well that he did, because Leila would always come to him the day before a test and bother him that she couldn't remember anything, which it was hard to remember what you never bothered to read. She always brushed him aside, insisting that other things were more important, like art class, or getting into all sorts of mischief, not stuffy old history.

The class seemed to drag on, Leila sighing in boredom every now and again. She had tried to get Luke's attention but he ignored her, as did everyone else sitting around. It wasn't that she didn't care, despite how she acted she was doing rather well in her classes, coming up with mostly B's, which wasn't bad considering how little effort she seemed to put in. Honestly, she wasn't even sure what the teacher was going on about, but everyone around her seemed to be taking notes. She scribbled one of her own, a simple note with cute, bubbly letters. 'Psst. My brother thinks you're cute.' She giggled and showed the note to Luke, who scowled and tried to take it from her. She held tight and folded it up while he tried to protest. "Quiet, you two!" Came a stern voice from the front, which had Luke instantly hiding his head in shame and Leila looking smug.

It was always like these for the two, Leila liked to play tricks on her brother, but sometimes she was a little careless and didn't think of how it might hurt others in the process. It was with this lack of consideration that she passed the note on to Myriam, the girl who had been late to class. Leila didn't think they had ever met, and her brother had never certainly said anything about her, but it was worth it to see the horror on his face as the note left her hands and made it's way to her. He would be furious, but he never stayed mad at her long, they were family after all. Besides, she needed a way to pass time before the class ended, which couldn't be soon enough in her eyes. Next she had one of her art classes, something she was looking forward to greatly, as always.

Luke couldn't stand to lift his head, embarrassed by his sisters actions. Now he would have to confront the poor girl and apologize, something he did not want to do. Besides, he was sure she was in a few of his other classes, which made it all the more awkward for him. How could his sister be so careless? Yet he knew he wouldn't stay mad at her, she did this often and never meant any harm by it, she just enjoyed life, apparently enough for the both of them.

Myriam was busy taking notes on the lecture and blinked in surprise when suddenly a note was placed on her desk. She quickly assumed it was from one of the two who had been scolded by the instructor not too long ago. Getting notes was nice, even though she never believed what they said. Using the tentacles that were her hair, she opened up the note while taking notes and read the note in silence, a sad smile spreading on her lips. Of course this was a lie. Her, cute? Never. How could anyone find her attractive? Oh it didn't matter, she wasn't here to find a love interest. She was here to learn, or at least to try to. Myriam let out a soft sigh as she closed up the note and placed it underneath her notebook. Her focus shifted back to the lesson being discussed.

Why was the instructor dragging on and on with this same chapter? Were people really having trouble with it? Myriam looked over at the girl and the boy who seemed to be hiding in shame? What was he hiding for? Was he not feeling well? She didn't know and she wasn't going to find out. If memory served her correctly, she had math class right after this one. On Wednesday it was Science and English, fun day...not really. English was the class she found extremely boring. Although right now the most boring class really did feel like it was History. The clock seemed to be moving extra slow, she was sure molasses moved faster than it right now. This was all probably just because she was late. If that was the case, she really had to make sure that she wasn't late again.

Leila huffed when the girl didn't look pleased by her note, instead hiding it away with a sad smile. Sure her brother was a little plain, with his black hair and black clothes, but she thought he was pretty cute, for a brother anyways. Always did she try to play the matchmaker for him, but it rarely worked out as he was so damn awkward and never liked her choices, which was just about every female she knew at this point.

Her diversion had failed and now she struggled to pay attention to the teacher, waiting impatiently for the class to end. The digital clock above the door showed that there was only a few more minutes but even those few minutes seemed to drag on. The teacher mentioned something about returning in their homework and Leila froze, realizing she had forgotten hers. Perhaps she would be able to slip it into the pile on Wednesday? No, the teacher always knew when she tried that and never accepted it. The bell rung, surprising her as she had been lost in her thoughts.

Luke was already on his feet and she followed him. "Forget something?" He teased, waving a page in front of her. She recognized the pink ink and bubbly handwriting as her own. "Thank you!" She all but squealed, standing on her tiptoes to kiss his cheek before snatching it from him and hurrying off. She cut in front of the rest of the students handing in their work, slamming her work down onto the teachers desk, surprising her. She didn't wait for the lecture she was sure would come and instead skipped out the door, blue and ruffles in her wake. One class she would never be late for is art.

Luke sighed as his sister bolted, the first to leave the class, and usually the last to show up. Surprisingly she hadn't been today, which reminded him of his sisters cruel joke and his need to apologize. Hopefully he would get the chance, since he was pretty sure she was in the same math class as him, which was where he made his way towards next.

Myriam smiled at the mentioned of homework and when the bell rang, she waited patiently for everyone to leave before gathering her things and setting her homework at the top of the pile. Without another word, she crumpled up the note and threw it into the trash then made her way to her math class. Was there a test today? She couldn't remember but if there was she was confident that she would pass it. Math was her strong subject. Her stomach growled, surprising her. She didn't think she was hungry and she started to think of what she would want to eat for lunch today. Usually she would eat whatever was given unless it was fish of course. Something about eating seafood made her sick to her stomach. "Alright math..shouldn't be too hard." she said to herself. It never was. Surprisingly the only hard part about the class were the pop quizzes, she absolutely dreaded them. Perhaps it was the act of being surprised that she dreaded.

Myriam was surprised that the teacher hadn't asked her to stay after class. Maybe she just didn't give the teacher a chance? Myriam shrugged to herself and walked into her math class. A few students were already, one of them being the boy from before. She didn't stare at him though. Instead Myriam just walked to her seat near the window and sat down, opening up her notebook to the section labeled 'MATH'. It was best to have one notebook for all her classes instead of one notebook for each class. Made organizing things much easier. The teacher was just getting ready for the start of the lecture, he could be seen counting the students and the names on his attendance list. Looking at the clock, she had arrived early thankfully. Ten minutes left before the class actually started. Hopefully the class went by quickly since she wanted to get something to eat and figure out how to replace her alarm so that it would work by Wednesday.

Luke noticed the girl from his first class walk in, the senior math class they were in wasn't completely full, he was sure it was the more advanced one, not that they called it that, so he moved his seat to the one beside her that was still empty, and probably would remain so. He had a few minutes before class started and he wanted to apologize for his sister. "Hey, I'm sorry about my sister, she doesn't think sometimes..." He managed to get out, despite how awkward he felt. It was rare he would initiate conversations, yet it seemed most of the time was doing so was because of Leila. Figures.

"She isn't very... tactful." He continued, trying to explain but knowing he was failing. A blush seemed to form, rising up his neck and onto his cheeks. He could feel the heat which made it even worse and he ducked his head, trying to hide it. "She shouldn't have sent you that note." Oh god, that was even worse. Now who was the untactful one? "I mean, not that... it's just that..." He stumbled over his words, clenching his fists as he tried to find the words to explain himself. How did he make it to 18 years of age and not even be able to talk to a female.

He wasn't able to embarrass himself further as the rest of the students trickled in and the teacher began the lesson. He opened his notebook, ready to take notes, but all the words just came to him as a garbled mess as he cast a shy glance beside him. It wasn't that anything was wrong, she was just so... different and he wondered how he hadn't noticed her before. Usually he was in his own world, so that must be the issue. Surely he had noticed her around and just didn't remember?

Myriam was startled out of her thoughts by the voice of a male. Quickly she turned to see who it was that was talking to her and let out a soft gasp in surprise when she saw it was the male from before. "O-Oh..." she stuttered nervously. Why was he talking to her? Oh he was apologizing...for what? Oh right the note. Myriam shook her head. "It's...it's okay. I knew it wasn't true." she answered quietly. His words then surprised her, she shouldn't have? What did that mean? Surely it didn't mean the note was true? No, his words right after confirmed that the note wasn't serious.

Myriam could see how much he was struggling just to apologize. "It's okay...r-really it's fine. I wasn't even bothered by it." she assured. It was partially true. It didn't bother her because she already knew it wasn't true. What bothered her was that someone would mess with emotions like that, although she was sure that the girl was only doing so out of boredom. Her yellow eyes watched him carefully and a frown formed on her face, he really looked like he was struggling with this. "A-are you okay?" Myriam whispered and looked around the class quickly before looking at him. She didn't dare put a hand on him, she didn't want to get any water on him.

Maybe the note was real but it was probably meant for another girl. Myriam wasn't even bothered by that idea, she didn't really know this guy. They never talked until now and she didn't even know that girl who gave her the note either. To be honest, she knew them but she didn't 'know' them. She was that way with every student in the school it seemed. She was just too shy to talk to people and come lunch, Myriam knew she'd take her food and go eat by a lake somewhere away from everyone. Despite wanting to make friends, she couldn't bring herself to actually socialize with anyone.

Luke heard the girls reply, his annoyance at his sister growing. He wanted to explain himself better, without hurting feelings, but a stern look from the teacher at the front of the room had him keeping his mouth shut and busy taking down notes. He cursed himself for being so bold, for feeling the need to right every wrong his sister did, fix every problem she created, instead of just ignoring it, letting it go away on its own. Clearly he had made the situation worse with his failed explanations... Perhaps he could fix this after class, but what could he say? No matter what his mind wanted him to say he always seemed to stumble and say something else.

His pen tapped the paper impatiently, he didn't really need to take notes, he had gone through this chapter in the textbook and knew how to do it already. Looking at his scribbled writing on the paper he got an idea. A note. Well, another note, a better one. Quickly he got to work, trying to organize his thoughts, what he wanted to say, but three scratched out sentences proved that writing an apology was not any easier. Starting with a fresh paper he began again.

'I'm sorry my sister sent you that note, she doesn't always think sometimes, despite having good intentions. It's not to say that it isn't true, I mean...'
Several lines of text were scratched out, rendered unreadable.
'It's just that I never asked her to send it... She really does mean for the best, she tries to be everyone's friend and it was her way of getting your attention, I suppose. Please don't hold it against her. I'm sorry I've made such an awkward mess of this, I don't posses the same self-confidence as my twin... Feel free to completely ignore me from this point on.'

Luke frowned down at the note, it wasn't all that much better than if he had tried to say it himself. He debating giving it to her, but he felt the need to explain and he was sure after this she would probably never even look his direction again, so what did it matter if he completely embarrassed himself? It wasn't the first time he did so at Leila's expense and he was sure it wouldn't be the last time. She made it a habit to make sure he pretty much lived in a constant state of fear and embarrassment. Sighing, he ripped the page from the book and folded it carefully, a stalling tactic mostly.

With a deep breath he grabbed the note and held it out, as discretely as he could, in Myriam's direction.

Myriam noticed the teacher looking their way and grew embarrassed. "W-we can talk later. I-if...if you want to of course." she whispered apologetically at the male and turned her attention to the front of the class. There were various math problems on the board and the teacher was going over how to properly solve them. Apparently there were more ways than one to solve each problem. Myriam already knew how to solve them well enough that she got the correct answer which was all that mattered to her. Glancing at the problems, Myriam quickly would write them down on her notebook along with the steps it took to solve them.

Beside her, she could hear him scribbling something down and tapping his pen. She obviously assumed he was just taking notes. The tapping told her he was either pondering very deeply on what was written, or he wanted the class to be over already; which of course she didn't blame him. Myriam tried her best not to focus on what he was doing though, her yellow eyes remained glued to her own notebook and would only look back at the problems long enough to memorize them and write them down correctly. Thankfully the teacher hadn't erased any of the problems yet. That's the only thing she hated about taking notes. If she wasn't fast enough she missed out on a bit of useful information.

When she had finished taking the notes she set her pen down on her notebook and sat back, waiting for the next set of problems she'd have to write down. What was this? Another note? What was it with notes today? This time she used her actual hand to grab it and was careful not to touch him or get him wet. Quietly she opened it up and started reading it as she held it underneath her desk in hopes that the teacher wouldn't see her. 'It's not to say that it isn't true' What?! Lies, all of it lies. Surely he was just joking about that. The note made her smile though, true or false. When she finished reading it, she folded it back up and set it beneath her notebook. Myriam glanced over at the male and nodded, "You're a funny fellow." she whispered. "Thank-you for the explanation." she added quietly and looked back to the front of the class not wanting to get in trouble.

((I may not be able to post for a while since I need to get ready for class but I'll reply as soon as I get home.))

It was easy enough for Luke to scribble down what he needed from the teachers lecture, it was all familiar to him having just finished the book for the class. Over the next few weeks he would probably sit down and do every problem in the book, something his sister would laugh at him for, but he enjoyed quiet time in his room, and doing school work was easy. Besides, he always ended up having to help her, since she tended to daydream often in class, and he needed to know the stuff to be a decent enough teacher.

He tried to ignore the knots in his stomach as she read the note, hoping she wouldn't be too angry with him. Would she understand the mess of words? He knew his handwriting wasn't the best and while he could write a near perfect essay he apparently failed miserably at apology notes. As she read he kept glancing over, trying to gauge her reaction. Had she smiled? Yes, perhaps he didn't do so bad after all. Take that, Leila, he thought with a sort of smug satisfaction. All his confidence was reduced to ashes at her words. "Funny fellow?" He whispered under his breath, more to himself than her. What did that even mean? He couldn't be funny if he tried, and he had not tried to make anything in that note a joke.

The class seemed to drag on after that, Luke felt a bit embarrassed about the whole situation and couldn't wait to grab lunch and go hide in his room, seeing as how he didn't have another class for a few hours. A commotion at the door caught his attention and he groaned to see Leila there, a big grin on her face as she pointed to him then to the girl next to him. The other students looked up as well, but thankfully the teacher was focused on the board and not at her. Why was she even at the door? She should be in class. He frowned and waved his hand, trying to get her to go away but she continued to look in at him. His plans for a quiet lunch were now more than likely ruined.

When the class was finally dismissed, the teacher calling an end to his lecture, the door all but burst open as Leila charged in. It wasn't that uncommon, the teacher only shot Luke an annoyed look then went about his business. "You moved seats." She pointed out with a knowing grin, smacking him on the back. "Leave it alone, Lei." He grumbled, trying to pull her towards the door before she could make things any worse. "Wait! Did you invite her to come to lunch with us?" She asked, knowing that he hadn't. "Oh, please say you'll join us for lunch?" Leila asked Myriam all the while Luke worked on dragging her towards the door. "It'll be fun!" She added with an encouraging smile.

Finally the class had ended which meant she was done with school for the day. All she needed was to get her lunch and go hide underwater. Standing, Myriam gathered her things and started to leave but stopped mid-step when she heard a female voice inviting her to lunch with her and the male. Ah so they were brother and sister? She had always assumed that they were just great friends. "Lei?" she repeated, hearing the male. "Oh..w-well..." she started and frowned as she handed her the note he had given her. "I don't think it would be a good idea. B-besides, I'm sure you're both very busy with things and would rather spend lunch with just the two of you." Myriam answered, giving this Lei girl a small smile. "Thank-you for the invite though, excuse me." she said and quickly made her way out of the classroom, practically running to the cafeteria to get her lunch.

"Hmmm, what do we have today?" she asked herself as she looked over the large array of food laid out for them to pick. Myriam felt bad about declining the request but something told her that it was best this way. Perhaps the male wouldn't feel comfortable with her there with them which she understood. She did tend to make a lot of people feel uncomfortable. It would be fun, that's what Lei had said, but how could it be fun if her brother would be feeling uncomfortable the entire time? Myriam didn't seem to understand that. She did though, wonder what it would be like to eat lunch with other people. What could they talk about? "You're holding up the line missy." the lunch lady told her, bringing her back from her thoughts. "Oh...s-sorry." Myriam answered.

Looking to to the food again, Myriam just grabbed a chocolate cupcake for dessert and a turkey sub for lunch. Her drink was strawberry milk. Having her lunch with her, she started to make her way out of the cafeteria and towards a lake not too far from here. "The lake with flowers." she said softly and with a smile. It was her favorite spot in the entire school, Myriam would always sit by it and watch the lily pads float around with the beautiful lotus flowers perched on top of various colors. Her favorite ones were the orange ones, she always wanted to have one but she knew they needed to be in bodies of water and her room was as dry as dirt.

Leila pouted but was unable to give chase, since Luke held her in place. No way would he let her chase the girl down the hall if she wasn't interested in sitting with them at lunch, his sister had tormented the girl enough already. His cheeks flushed red when he noticed that the girl had given his note to Leila, who now stood reading it. "I don't think?" She cried, her voice nearly a whine. He sighed and dragged her out of the classroom and towards the cafeteria. She would feign hurt just to get him to apologize and do something to make her feel better, despite the fact that nothing truly phased her at all.

"Yes, yes. I'm sorry, I was wrong. I'll buy you a cookie, will that make everything alright?" Luke knew it would, it always did, and he was jealous of his sister in that regard. To have such a small thing bring her such joy while he wasn't even sure what true happiness felt like these days. The closest he came was when he had a good snack and hid in the back of the library, reading for hours on end. "You're the best brother." Leila exclaimed, clinging to him as they made their way to the cafeteria. He tried to ignore the fact that they were practically following the girl, hoping his sister wouldn't make a scene once they got inside.

He struggled to navigate the crowds while Leila practically hung on him. If they didn't look so similar, and if she didn't take every chance to call him her brother, people would probably think them a couple. It was hard to believe that two people who looked so alike, and twins at that, could be so different. Unknown to Luke, Leila kept a steady eye on the girl, determined to be her friend, probably against her will, if need be.

As they made their way through the line the plastic tray was loaded with far more food than he was sure they needed, but he found no need to say no to Leila, and he didn't want to argue about it in front of others. He wasn't much better, anyways, his lunch consisted of french fries, a Italian sub, two pieces of cake, and a soda. Leila of course picked out the same thing for lunch, but she added on nearly a dozen of the double chocolate cookies that she loved, much to the disappointment of the people in line behind them. With the overloaded tray in hand, Luke searched for a table.

"Not today, brother. I have something else in mind..." Leila grinned, a mischievous sort of grin that Luke did not like. She grabbed his arm and tugged him away from the tables and out of the cafeteria. He was so focused on trying to make sure the tray didn't tip and spill their lunch that he could hardly watch where they were going. At some point they came outside and when he looked up he could see someone in the distance. "Leila, no." He groaned, not realizing what she had done. His words didn't stop her though, she continued dragging him along and he went, he always followed his sister, always worked to make her happy.

"Hey! Wait up!" Leila called out, finally letting go of Luke and running towards the girl. She was determined to follow her, she was curious why she hadn't wanted to eat with them. Perhaps she didn't like Luke? He was rather tall, and awkward, which scared off most girls. "Mind if we join you?" Leila asked with a sweet and all too innocent smile. Luke couldn't hear what they were saying, but he continued to follow his sister, knowing she wouldn't give up so easily.

Of course, maybe if she turned one to stone then she'd be able to have one. Though it really wouldn't be the same. "Oh well, maybe someday. For now this will do just fine." Myriam said to herself. When she reached the lake she knelt to sit down and frowned when she heard the familiar voice of the girl from before. Suddenly people wanted to talk to her? "I..." she started and closed her eyes to calm down. This girl was very persistent. "I suppose I don't...no." was her answer. It still puzzled her that they wanted to sit with her. Well Lei did anyway, her brother didn't look too pleased with the situation. "I uhh..." Myriam struggled to find the right words to tell the girl that this was a bad idea but she was sure that Lei wouldn't take no for an answer.

Myriam sat down and set her lunch tray on her lap. She carefully unwrapped the chocolate cupcake and took a bite before moving on to eat her sub. It wasn't a big lunch. It was actually meager compared to the lunch of the siblings. They ate so much it seemed but continued to remain in thin form. It was interesting really. 'Fast metabolism..' she thought to herself. It was rude to stare though, so Myriam just focused her eyes on the flowers. She didn't know what to do, she never had someone sit with her during the lunch hours. Did they have another note for her? Oh she hoped not, she'd probably just eat it if they did.

Turning a flower to stone. It probably wasn't going to be easy since she needed to be angry for that and she really wasn't angry at the moment. She remembered sometime last year or the year before she had turned a tree to stone. She was pretty sure the tree was still around here somewhere but she never bothered to look for it. She couldn't even remember what it was that had upset her so much to do that. At least it was a tree and not a student though. There were various times where she wanted to turn students to stone, but she always held herself back.

Leila clapped her hands, excited that the girl had agreed to let them sit with her, not that a no would have stopped her. Luke had finally caught up and she encouraged him to sit down, trying to nudge him to sit nearer her new friend, but he didn't and instead sat beside his sister. Leila didn't let this bother her and snatched one of the cookies off the tray, chewing far more loudly than she should. "So, what's your name?" She blurted out, having barely finished her bite of cookie. "I'm Leila, this is my brother Luke." She added well before the girl would even be able to answer.

When Luke said nothing, she elbowed him in the side. He groaned and glared at Leila, all the while she tried to subtly motion towards the girl across from them. Understanding hit him and he managed an awkward wave and a mumbled hello before returning to his meal, picking at the french fries. Oblivious to his discomfort, Leila hummed as she spread out her skirt around her, enjoying actually being outside for once. The sunlight made their pale grey skin seem almost translucent, a fact Leila wasn't too fond of, the darker veins standing out more than usual, it was at times like this their appearance seemed more unusual, and sadly for Leila, had ruined a few prospect with the boys.

Luke occasionally glanced up at the girl, intrigued by her very... different appearance. How had he not noticed her before? Obviously she looked quite different from many of the other girls at the school, but it wasn't bad. He found himself studying the tentacles, they were quite interested, he had even seen her open the note from his sister with them, something that had surprised him at first. He wondered what exactly she was... Though he wasn't as bold as Leila and would never dare to ask, at least not while they didn't even know her name. Yet he was sure, if Leila had set her sights on this girl being her newest friend, he would be seeing much more of her. If only because he needed to keep Lei out of trouble.

The girl was far too...excited. Had she never sat with people for lunch? Surely she had plenty of friends, she seemed like a very sociable person. So she had to have plenty of friends. "My name...?" Myriam repeated and looked at her own reflection in the water. "Myriam." she answered and looked over at them, offering them a small smile. "Leila...I thought it was Lei." she admitted softly. Leila and Luke. Both started with an 'L' and had an 'E' in their name as well, how cute. She could see that they were really close.

It was crystal clear to Myriam that Luke didn't want to be here and it saddened her that he was here just to be nice. How could she say anything though? She noticed Luke would look over her way at times and she frowned, he probably thought she was weird which wouldn't be too bad considering she was pretty weird. Okay, so now she had to try and make some sort of conversation. "S-so...is this both of your guys' final year here?" she asked and felt stupid. What kind of question was that? It was all she could think of. Maybe she should have talked about something more interesting like the topic of conversation in their history class which they had together.

Leila was oblivious to the discomfort on both sides. "Myriam? Pretty." She mumbled to herself, sending a smug look to Luke, who probably thought that she would fail in making a new friend. Luke only shook his head and handed her one of the subs, reminded her she needed to eat. No matter how much they ate they could never gain, unless they never transformed. Shape-shifting took a lot of energy, too much to sustain themselves on a normal diet, not at the rate they tended to change, anyways. He was surprised Leila wasn't already bothering poor Myriam by changing into a cat and being all sorts of trouble.

He chewed his sub, listening to Myriam's mumbled response and then the following question. She didn't look all that happy they were here, she probably was like him and preferred a quiet lunch. Alone. Something Leila would never understand. His sister had stuffed her mouth, attempting to answer the questions through a bite of her sub, but Luke held up his hand. He was going to have to try to be polite, and hopefully soon his awkwardness would prove to his sister that she was better off making friends without him there to muck it all up. "Well, it is the last year for me..." He said with a nervous chuckle, then looked over at Leila. "She might be stuck another year if she doesn't stop skipping classes." All his sister did was pout in reply, knowing she had been caught.

"Well maybe if the classes were not so boring, I wouldn't skip them!" She all but cried, putting on a show worthy of Broadway. Luke ignored the outburst, instead turning to speak to Myriam, "Just ignore her, she is far too dramatic". Leila grinned from the side, his annoyance at her had distracted him from his nervousness, hopefully now he would actually be a little more open to conversation and perhaps more. For once, Leila sat back in silence, letting her both lead the conversation as she nibbled on fries.

Myriam blinked in confusion at first but then realized what had been said. "Ohh...w-well let's hope that's not the case." she started and smiled, shaking her head at Leila's outburst. "Yes...well I understand, but you need to stop skipping classes. I mean, I'm no one to tell you what you should or shouldn't do. However, boring or not one must make the effort to show up on class and stay awake throughout the class because you never know when you'll be asked to answer a question." Myriam hinted. She was just trying to be helpful but she was probably just being annoying at this point. Who was she to tell them what to do? They had just met and now she felt she could tell them how to act?

"Ignore her?" Myriam repeated and gave them an apologetic smile. "Well it's not necessarily a bad thing unless you do so without valid reason." she commented quietly and finished up her lunch quietly. "What are your plans when you're done here?" she asked them both, her eyes locked now on the empty try which rested on her lap. A few droplets of water falling down onto it from the tentacles she called hair. Thinking back to what Leila said, she couldn't blame her. Some of the classes could be rather boring, like English for example. That was a very boring class, but Myriam still showed up on time. Though she wasn't sure how she'd show up on time with a broken alarm clock.

Luke could only grin, finally someone else was telling his sister how it needed to be, not sympathizing with her like everyone else. "See, Lei, you should listen to your new friend." Leila did not find it at all amusing and she pouted prettily, crossing her arms and turning away. Of course it was mostly an act, even if it wasn't, she could never be upset for long, not at Luke especially. Luke waved a cookie in front of her face, it was enough to get her attention and she happily turned back and nibbled at it. He sighed and shook his head, she acted like she was... well, a child, honestly. Yet she was smart and talented, she just preferred to be dramatic and have fun instead of apply herself.

Luke was finding it much easier to talk when it wasn't focused on him, he almost forgot he was talking to someone new, and a girl at that. That didn't escape Leila's notice, she kept unusually quiet, hoping Luke would do all the talking. It was hard, but she was curious... if only classes were as enjoyable as this. "Well... I was thinking about being a historian... of sorts." He mumbled, it sounded lame, but his excuse was he could study old texts and spend hours alone, answering to no one. Then he could write about his findings, something he liked to do anyways. Being paid for that would be a dream for him. "Leila, on the other hand, wants to do just about everything. Sing, dance, paint, fly an airplane, cook in a fancy restaurant..." He trailed off, trying to remember what she most recently decided. "I told you, I don't want to do any of that anymore. I want to be a travel photographer!" She pouted, upset that he didn't remember, even though she had only decided just a week ago this was going to be her new passion. Luke was sure it would be something else next week, perhaps a fashion model. While most wouldn't believe she could, her grey skin and body type were not quite... typical, she would be confident she could and he never stopped her.

"What about you?" Luke asked, genuinely curious. He had watched the droplets of water drop to her tray, following their path back up to the tentacles in her hair. The curious side of him wanted to ask many questions, and perhaps even touch, but every other ounce of him screamed no, he was far too shy and awkward to ever dare. To distract himself he worked on finishing off his food, eating most of the sub and fries before he started on one of the pieces of cake. "Luke?" Leila asked but he didn't answer, too caught up in enjoying his cake. "Luke!" She said louder, waving a hand in front of his face. He looked up, a bit confused, mouth full of cake. "Did you even ask Myriam if she'd like a cookie?" She knew he didn't and while she could have, she thought it best to leave it to him. Of course he all but failed in the task, he held out a cookie to her, mumbling something through a mouth full of cake. "He's hopeless when it comes to cake." Leila said with a sigh.

Friend? They were friends now? The three of them or just her and Leila? Lei, oh so he just called her Lei. Well it made sense for siblings to give each other nicknames. It must be nice having a sibling, Myriam wasn't even sure she had any. Quietly watching the interaction, she could tell Leila liked sweets just as she did. She wondered if Luke liked sweets as well. Had she known this ahead of time she would have gotten more cupcakes instead of just one. What sort of friend didn't share food? Well in her defense, she didn't know that friends even shared their food with each other. Myriam listened to Luke explain that he wanted to become a historian. That wasn't something everyone chose to go for but it sounded interesting. "A historian..." she whispered to herself and smiled softly at Leila's reaction. "I see, a photographer. Interesting both of you. What made you choose that?" Myriam asked. She hadn't even realized that she was no longer nervous.

Normally she would shy away from any sort of interaction but right now she was genuinely having a nice chat with two people who she assumed were her friends now. The concept of friendship so quickly still confused her but she wasn't going to question it. What about her? That was a very good question. "Well.." Myriam started and let out a disappointed sigh. "I haven't thought of anything yet." she answered truthfully. That wasn't good, she knew that she needed to think of something eventually. However, she wasn't really sure what it was she wanted to do for the rest of her unnatural life. Though maybe she wasn't the only one in this school that still hadn't chosen a career of sorts. Hearing Leila mention a cookie, Myriam felt bad once more. "It's okay..." she started but accepted the cookie anyway. "Thank-you very much." she said quietly and took the cookie with one tentacle before dropping it onto her hand and taking a small bite.

Leila was working on her fourth cookie already, she smiled at Myriam and shrugged. "Luke only wants to be a historian because he just wants to sit in a stuffy room reading books all day, by himself." She cringed at the last part, as if the thought of being by herself all day was the most awful thing she could think of. Well, for Leila, it was. She needed interaction, adventure, fun, anything but sitting still, which is why she was doing so poorly in her classes and missed way more of them than she should. It was a wonder she was still allowed to attend, considering how strict they were, perhaps because Luke was one of their best students, and whatever funds they had must be substantial to put up with Leila's mischief.

"It's okay to not know what you want to do, we're young, we should have time to be free and be ourselves before we have to grow up!" This was a speech Luke heard from his sister often, she always felt like she wasn't given time to be free, to be herself, she wanted to roam the world and do whatever, not thinking about her future, or how she would manage to earn a living and even feed herself. None of that seemed important to her, and Luke envied that.

"Oh! I'm going to be late!" Leila cried out, standing up quickly and brushing crumbs from her dress. "You care about being late?" Luke asked with a raised eyebrow, he wasn't sure he had ever heard those words before from her. She only grinned, a secret grin that only she apparently knew the meaning of. Before hurrying off she grabbed another cookie, munching on it as she all but ran back towards the school, long black hair trailing behind her. "She has never worried about being late before. I wonder why she was in such..." Luke trailed off, looking over to Myriam. Oh, but of course it wasn't her simply trying to make a friend, obviously she was up to something, and apparently it involved her new friend, and him. He could only manage an awkward smile, now suddenly a bit nervous without his sister here to help guide the conversation.

"Uhm... I'm sorry, about her, she's just..." He couldn't really think of the proper word to describe his sister, she was flighty, bubbly, loud, annoying, devious, sweet, and about a million other things all rolled into one infuriating bundle. "She's a bit strange." He finished with an awkward laugh.

Myriam actually laughed softly hearing what Leila said about Luke's career choice. "Well if he likes it then you should be a supportive sister." she informed honestly. She frowned though realizing that what she said probably sounded like she was bossing her around. "I'm sorry, I'm not here to tell you how to live your life." Myriam quickly said feeling like a fool for saying what she had. "A historian isn't something many people talk about pursuing as a career. So hearing that he wants to become one tells me he prefers to work alone than with others and there is nothing wrong with that." she continued. "You want to be a photographer, tells me that you are more open to adventure." she noted. Listening to Leila's logic, Myriam chuckled. "Well yes I understand what you mean but the year will be over soon and I have to have a plan of sorts." she explained.

If she didn't have a plan, she'd be stuck doing nothing and that wasn't something that Myriam wanted to live through. Myriam wanted to do something with her life, she just didn't know exactly what it was that she really wanted to do. At times she thought about having an underwater restaurant but that didn't seem like a good idea, it would limit her customers which was never good. She only grew confused when Leila mentioned that she would be late. For what? The bell hadn't rung yet. Maybe she needed to get to a class to pick something up? Or maybe there was a meeting she wanted to attend? Myriam wasn't sure but she didn't think it would be wise to ask her what she was late for.

"O-oh, well you go ahead and go to wherever you need to go to. Wouldn't want to cause you to be late." Was all Myriam could say in her confusion. Her yellow eyes locked on Leila as the girl ran off towards the school again. Myriam frowned and looked over at Luke, listening to what he was saying. "Perhaps it's something she believes is important?" she suggested with a shrug of her shoulders. Myriam blinked at Luke's sudden apology and gave him a sad smile. "It's alright, we're all strange in our own way don't you agree?" she pointed out. They were all strange, they were all monsters so of course they were strange and she was completely okay with it. Well to an extent of course.
