Jake looked at kiara sadly. "I'm sorry kiara. I should have kept an eye on her," Jake said. Kiara sat beside her mother's body and let out a sad howl.

Okami howled as well. Ash sniffed Kita. "Why no move?"

"She is gone son," jake said to him.

Ash looked down at Kita. "No, she still here" he said putting his paw on her.

"No son. She is dead," Jake said.

Ash tilted his head. "What is dead?" "That's when someone go's to sleep and never wakes up" Okami said.

Jake then looked at Kiara. "Since your mother died in battle, you ar enext in line to be leader Kiara," Jake said. "Me? But but i'm not readyf or this. I can't lead the pack," she said.

Ash began to cry. "It's ok sweetie" Okami hugged him.

"JAke. You and Okami shoul be the ones to lead the pack. You are both more expirience in fighting and protecting then i am," Kiara said. "If that is what you want kiara," jake said.

"I accept the responsiblity" Okami said. "But I don't wanna fight" said Ash.

"You won't have to my son. you will get to choose which path you take. You can either follow your mother in magic or you can be a warrior like i am," jake said.

Ash looked at both his parents. He had a lot to think about.

"But you can choose later," Jake said and licked his head.

Okami nuzzled him. "Why don't you go inside? I'll be in to tuck you in" Ash went back inside and layed on the bedding.

Jake helped kiara dig a grave for kita and and helped burry her.

After a moment of silence, Okami went inside and tucked in Ash. She sang him a lullabye and kissed him goodnight.

Jake walked in as well. "I hate that he had to see death when he was just a pup," jake said sitting down beside okami.

"Me too. I was hoping for a peaceful world for him to grow up in, but I guess that'll never be"

"apparently not. it has been a long day we should get some sleep," jake said laying down beside her and ash.

The next day, Ash was playing down by the lake. He ran around with a stick in his mouth.

Jake watched from the cave with a smile. "I am glad he is having fun," he said to okami.

Okami smiled. "He reminds me of me at that age"

"you were rather rambunxious when we were kids," he said with a smile.

Ash threw the stick in the air and caught it. He then noticed the surface of the lake beggining to bubble.

"hey what's going on down there at the lake?" Jake siad running towards the lake.
