I found out about Menewsha through some RP friends that I met on another site i got on after I decided to quit Gaia Online. Took me a while to join but I figured it'd be interesting!

I was looking for a forums site that was more community oriented. Less money focused and a lot less hamfisted than the site I was on. (I'll admit. I'm a Gaia Oldbie. 2004. Too much has changed since Lanzer stepped down.)

Back in MY day we had to navigate the MAP to access stores, 1k gold was a lot, and you actually had to purchase donation items directly with a credit or debit card. Ian was a blonde, Johnny was alive, and there were no grunnies. (Seriously. I was there for their introduction. @_@) There was no towns, no houses. The only Towns on the map were Isla De Gambino, Barton, and Durem. Fishing was the most popular thing when it came out and avatars were a clusterfuck of items people liked.

Weren't the grunnies introduced in 2007? o.o (That's around when I first joined)
Wow 1k gold? That's a huge change in inflation. I remember back when 500g was a lot of gold, and the most expensive item on here was 1k gold It's such a strange feeling seeing the values go up isn't it?
o.o It's weird that I remember some of the events you mention. I remember that death. No towns though... wow... I think that's been around since I joined.

Oh you'll love this little fact. The purple topped building in the bottom right corner of Barton? It used to be clickable. It took you to a selection of user submitted links, most of which were porn or anime sites. Sometimes both. Then around 2k5 or 2k6 I think? They had a thing where you, essentially, could travel around Gaia with an invited Avatar up at the top next to yours. You could send messages back and forth without using PMs. An early attempt at a chat system I think. It's been so long.

A click able link to user content? How was that content allowed?
I've never heard of any of this. It's really interesting hearing about a site from such an old user.its like a whole nother website.

There was a report option on those links but there were a lot though. Here's an archive shot of the landing page: Gaia Online: Archived image

Wow... that looks so different.... and so few ads.
I remember the report button well on there. I used to browse the GD and report things to keep it clean.

Mmhmm. It's the Gaia I miss even if I do enjoy a few of the little things they've come up with. But yes. The simpler set-up and closer community I see here? I like it.

Glad that you like our close community. Many of us tend to hide away in our hangouts and such, but many of us welcome new posters ^^
People tend to open up a bit more during events.
