I sorta want to purchase a tablet to do photoshop art. The cheapest is the 4x5, but the 6x8 is still affordable to me. Does it matter what size I purchase? What do you recommend in terms of tablets? :o

Size shouldn't matter at all. I have a 4x5 Wacon Tablet, and it works fine for me. The only reason that I could see anyone needing a biger one, is if they need to do big strokes of some sort.

Smaller tablets would be more sensitive to the slightest movement of the pen. I think that's really the only difference.

When I used a 4x5, my lines were really shaky. Switching to a 6x8 helped with that a lot~
Just about any tablet you get can be used nicely, though.
As for the brand, Wacom makes awesome tablets. <3

i'd say as long as it's wacom and not some other brand - go for the largest size you can afford.
people with small tablets get accustomed to using them, but i am not a fan of the 4x5, they're too tiny. mine is 6x8 and at times i wish it were bigger.

I use a 6x8 graphire3 and i think it's awesome. I don't need anything bigger, honestly. However I'm sure if you're going pro, it'd be wiser to invest in an intuos of a larger size or something like that. ^^ I honestly think the 4x5 is too small, 6x8 is the minimum you should go for... but that's just me!

I use a 4x5. It seems small but you get used to it after a day.
I don't have a big desk so it fits conveinently in a drawer or on my lap.
If its your first tablet, I would recommend it ^_^

When I had tried using my friends tablet, which was a lot bigger, I thought it was a little awkward... but I'm probably just so used to mine XP

I have the smallest and cheapest wacom, and it does wonderfully. But I would love a bigger size, just so I can get more room. So I quess it just comes down to how much you actually want to spend. When switching to an art tablet it will feel reaaallly weird at first but once you get used to it you will most likely use it all the time. So its a big purchase and spending more or less money just depends on you.

Any size should work for you, each you should complain about. You just have to get used to it. At least in my experience : )

Trust me, go with Wacom. Doesn't matter about price. The extra money is definitly worth it.

From what Ive heard, all the other brand (Im sorry, dont know what they are >.>; ) are nothing in comparason

To the original poster - if you have broad strokes, such as myself, than go larger. If not, than small works fine

• Wacom tablets are absolutely excellent. I've had cheaper brands and the sensitivity and flow is no where near as good. I have a wacom tablet at the moment, its lasted me ages, and the sensitivity on it is excellent. Its a wacom intuos 3, although it was quite expensive, it was undoubtedly worth every penny. I use it so much, and it never seemed to change in quality, its brilliant :D

Mine's 9x12, but I can assure you a small tablet can do the job just as well as a bigger one ._. I certainly think it takes more talent to work on a small tablet than a large one, anyway.

And Wacom all the way.

It really does not matter.
Just practice alot on the small one and you'll do fine as the same with a large one. When I did a 4x5 my lines were always shaky which really got annoying.

wacom 4x5 works fine for me. i dont want big tablets cluttering my desk when im drawing XD

Lol personally, I wouldn't go any smaller than the 6x8.
I have an Intuos 9x12 which is huge, and so I was considering buying a smaller for travel purposes.

But like others have said, size doesn't matter aside from personal preference. The tablet drivers make sure they all work the same. :]

Yeah, i havea 9x12, but my stoke isn't alrge enough to accomodate it, so I want a 6x8. Either way, you can zoom in and out, so it isn't that huge of a deal in affecting your picture resolution.

4x5 is the only one I've ever used, and it's pretty good. I don't think that the tablet size will really make a difference, since you can zoom in and out if you're trying to do small details.

However, if 6x8 is affordable to you, then you might wanna use that, since most people seem to like that size. I just grabbed a 4x5 because it was the only one in stock and it was on sale =P

I use a Wacom Graphire 4x5. It works fine for me, although my lines are a little shaky. I was short on cash though, so I opted for something as opposed to nothing.

Get a wacom tablet- get the larger versions, it's a lot easier to use than other tablets.
Graphire works as good as intous, in my opinion, they're both tablets.
A "bad" tablet is better than no tablet. :]

so can use any tablet with adobe, or just a certain company

I use a 6X8 Wecom at school. I love it to bits, although it’s a bit messed up from people poking it too hard. To me the bigger ones are worth the little extra money, but it doesn’t matter either way if you don’t mind working in a smaller space.

i have a 6x8 tablet and i love it. it does seem a bit big at times but i cant imagine working on anything smaller :)

I have questions about tablets. I have never used one and I only know vaguely how they work I've been interested in getting one for a quite a while. A friend of mine loves my art and recommended I try a Wacom. I was wondering if anyone can direct me to a page that has some good information on one and some pricing. I also need to know what kind of programs it can work with and what types of things you can do with it. I'm getting a job soon and I can seriously burn holes in my pockets :3
